- In this video I’m going to show you How to Clean A Mattress with Baking Soda
There are many reasons why you might need to clean your mattress. Perhaps you just bought a used mattress, maybe something was spilled on the mattress, or maybe you have a toddler who just had a large accident. But it’s not only important that you clean your mattress when situations like these arise, it’s also important that you clean your mattress regularly.
• But why is cleaning your mattress so important,
• how often should you clean your mattress,
• and how can you clean your mattress yourself with baking soda?
Let’s take a look as to Why is it so important to keep your mattress clean?
Did you know that you sweat about half a pint every night? Or that you sleep with approximately 1.5 million dust mites on a nightly basis? Or did you know that your mattress actually gains weight over time from things like sweat, dead skin, and other bodily fluids? These are all true facts and great reasons to keep your mattress clean, but here are some other reasons that you should clean your mattress regularly:
• To eliminate dust mites and bugs that may grow on your mattress, or to prevent them from growing on your mattress.
• To remove dust, pollen, pet dander, dirt, and other things that can build up on your mattress
• To reduce allergic reactions in your family
• To prevent unwanted skin irritations for those who have sensitive skin
• To improve your comfort and sleep quality
So How often should you clean your mattress?
Obviously, you should clean your mattress anytime there has been an accident or spill, but on top of that, you should also aim to clean your mattress at least twice a year. For best results, your mattress should be cleaned at the beginning or end of each season (4 times per year). In addition to cleaning your mattress, your bedding should be washed at least once a week. This will help to reduce the amount of sweat, dead skin and oils that end up seeping into your mattress.
So How can you wash your mattress using baking soda?
Unlike washing your bedding, washing your mattress isn’t as easy as taking a sheet off and throwing it in the washer - but that doesn’t mean it can’t be simple! Believe it or not, all you need to clean your mattress is a 16 ounce box of baking soda. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Take all sheets, blankets, and pillows off of your mattress (you should wash these before putting them back on your clean mattress).
Step 2 (which is Optional) : If you wish to add a pleasant scent to your mattress, you can add a few drops of essential oil to your baking soda and mix it in.
Step 3: Sprinkle the entire box of baking soda over your mattress. (If you have a really large bed, you may need to use two boxes of baking soda).
Step 4: Let Baking Soda sit for half an hour or more if very dirty.
Step 5: Use a vacuum to vacuum up the baking soda off of your mattress.
And it’s really that simple to give yourself a peace of mind and get a good night of rest on a clean bed!

, you gonna need laundry detergent and water mix ....wet the spot ....then sprinkle baking soda over top of it and leave it and them stains come right out

Step 1: Shake a box (2 boxes for large beds) of baking soda onto mattress.
Step 2. Vacuum it up after 30 minutes.

This was a waste of time!! The majority of the video was why you should clean ans not how to clean it. To save some time just powder the mattres with baking soda and vaccum after 30mins 😑😑😑

I've been fighting these monsters over 3 years in 2 different homes. All these tips work but it's keeping up w washing all things Alot till alms down yup baking soda. Going to use in a bit but I use many different ideas mostly from u great folks on here n ur great ideas Thanx lots

It can. But you have to leave it for several days. Not so clean but it will lessen.

If you were to do this by hand, would you mix the baking soda with water before brushing it in and scrubbing it out? Any suggestions how to modify the process if you don't have a machine vacuum?
2:21 is where it really starts
Baking Soda is hygroscopic meaning it absorbs water. The inside of my vacuum cleaner was totally wet after I used it to suck up the baking soda I used on my mattress. It totally ruined the motor and circuit board of my vacuum cleaner. I'm really sorry I followed the advice of this video~!
So use a shop vac or wet/dry vac. They're made to get wet. Besides, if the water goes in your vacuum cleaner's motor, something is wrong. If the water could get in it, so could dust and dirt when you use the vacuum for the floors. That would also ruin the motor. The suction should take the dirt and water to the bag or canister, not through the motor.

I don’t get how it would help deep down in the mattress. The baking soda just goes down in a tiny bit. I suppose I could turn the mattress over but it has different texture. How could this vacuuming just the surface really help the whole mattress?!

I know. I was so offended. I.... I just couldn't take it. The triggering was....was so.... Immense. But, I must admit, I did struggle on. After the intense condescension, one day later, my mattress looked as good as new. The foot square wank stain in the middle had *completely* vanished.

Dont do it !! Ever sieve flour in making cake. When you sieve baking flour it incorporates air . Baking soda gets all over the room on furniture, floor and self. Mopping floor later is as messy a job. Its leaves a slippery residual. Take it from an idiot who actually put baking soda idea. Give yourself a break.

Vacuum cleaners are disgusting though so that's probably not the best idea, but yeah how else would you do it? Could shake the mattress out onto the floor I guess(without touching the floor) and vacuum the soda off the floor.
I keep my vacuum clean with alcohol the bottom the brush, hoses and filters. I suppose having one easily taken apart is good too, mine is.
