01:25 place the pot lid on top of the towel and wrap like this.
No stain before and no stain after. This really works! 😆

As a professional carpet/sofa cleaner i have to say that this method works ONLY in surface. There is no deep cleaning and all the dust and acarea which they leave INSIDE the coushions are not removed this way. This is just for refreshing the fabric and if you do that frequently your sofa will smell bad eventually because of the dust inside which it gets wet.
My friendly advice to you: Vaccum your sofas first for deep cleaning and THEN rub the fabric.
Isn't there a lot of detergent left in the fibers?
how does one remove water stains ?? any advice is grateful
You cant remove all the dirt through vacuum. Vacuum is only to remove water from washed sofa but the material inside the fabric works like a filter which hold all the dust inside. So your comment is not accurate
exactly and but alot of viewrs omg 1.6m wow
vaccunm is the the best how removed the dust like this omg not good im using vaccunm the spray the fabric
I actually tried this solution, albeit skeptically, on a stain on our west elm couch. I didn’t use the lid, just the solution, a white microfiber cloth, and my hand. Lo and behold the white cloth was coming up dingy after a few rubs. I repeated several times and then went over the rest of the couch lightly. I also rinsed the cloth with water and rubbed the stain and couch as a final step, as some suggested. To my surprise, the next day when dry, the stain was completely gone. I was shocked.
I couldn’t be happier. Saving this video.
First time to encounter your upload and i was really surprised to find out how you make complicated task such as cleaning the couch with baking soda and dishwashing solution mixed in water could simply clean and removed the stubborn dirt in it. Thanks for such a presentation that is practical and helpful. Engr Boyet from Philippines.

Apologize for my stupidity, I can't see what the Lid is used for in this approach. What is the different between using a Lid as a "Skeleton" and simply a cleaning towel? Or, it will increase the surface area to save some time?
I would have thought it would be an idea to repeat the process with water after to rinse the solution off otherwise it will remain slightly sticky and attract dirt even more?
Were you shocked, or were you amazed? Shocked is a negative word that's being used incorrectly all the time because it gets views.
As a pro cleaner, I would like to make a suggestion for DIY. The lid thing is pretty cool, however the dish soap is not. Use a foaming carpet and upholstery cleaner made for your car instead of dish soap. If you ever have it professionally cleaned after using dish soap, please tell the pro what you did lol. This stuff will foam up to the point of him having to use a lot of defoamer to clean it and yes it will cost extra. Dish soap may feel soft after cleaning but it is quite sticky and will attract a lot of dirt. The foaming upholstery cleaner will dry as a fine powder that is easily vacuumed out, leaving little to no residue. Great video and It could get you out of a bind, but use the foaming upholstery cleaner on the same spots to remove some of the dish soap as soon as possible.
Would you replace both the dish soap as well as the baking soda with the upholstery cleaner? Or just the dish soap (you only mentioned the dish soap)? Thanks
@@TigreCorazonprobably use a laundry detergent since its fabric you are cleaning
Any tips for getting chocolate stain out of carpet?
@@TigreCorazon sory so late. Eleminate both. Use just the foaming cleaner.
@jscraftynook4277 The foaming cleaner will dry and be easily removed with vacuuming after it dries. Remember that laundry detergent is rinsed out in the washing machine. Laundry detergent would have to be rinsed out as well.
Wow - scrubbing a perfectly clean couch and it comes up like new!
Maybe a few years old, how would you know. If she regularly does this it keeps surface dust and dirt build up off. Yes it's a perfectly clean couch now, after she wiped it, didn't you notice the surface dirt removed
😂
😂
Blahahahahah, I rewound the video twice , thinking I was blind
Makes no sense to me at all.
11/14/22: I like the concept, but it would have been nice to see if the couch and rug were dirty to begin with and then to have done a section at a time to see the difference. Your couch and rug looked wonderful, so I really couldn't see how well it cleaned, but I have a chair that can use this technique and I will definitely try it. I think it's pretty cool. Thanks for sharing!
Thats because its a dumb idea, and no better than simply putting a rag in your hand and scrubbing. And since the lid is concave, the pressure point is a thin ring, instead of much more surface area of pressure from just your own hand.
Idiotic.
It probably works well with furniture that is lightly soiled. If it's real dirty, it will take more time (and cloths) You could see some soiling on the cloth when she unwrapped the lid. Looks like it will work ok. The more often you clean your upholstery, it will be quicker to do.
Bet it was already very clean. God bless you
You don't need alid just use the cloth.
… and when you finish cleaning you can make dinner 😂
•Get a bowl of warm (hott) water
•Put baking soda dishwashing liquid in it
•Soak a microfiber towel in it
•Wring out the towel
•Wrap pot lid with microfiber towel, using rubber band to secure it around the handle
•Then rub/scrub it over ur couch scrubbing harder in areas that are dirtier.
•Rince, Wring it out and repeat

Water, Baking soda, dishwashing soap, a pan lid, a microfiber towel and some elbow grease. Ingenious. Thank you for this tip for 2023.
I don't care what anyone says. You're a genius! I'm sharing this with my family. Thank you !
This is great thank you! The only thing I would add is to be sure to vacuum throughly first, adding water to loose dirt makes mud so get as much out with the vacuum as you can first.
Smart! Thanks for the tip
Thank you I used to clean professionally and yes very smart...your absolutely right if something is really dirty vacuum first or blot up all the debris too, or else your just spreading it around and rubbing it in. I call it spinning your wheels .I clean with a lot of Qtips and Here's my big tip I use a paint scrapper,& metal,or copper pot scrubber, & SOS pads for cleaning nearly everything I might start posting my own videos! (Ovens, bathtubs except carpetsof course) 👆this works with Vinegar & Baking Soda and Laundry detergent too!!!
Everything seems so clean before it's washed
😀I thought so
That makes two of us. Either it doesn't really work that well or her chair and carpets are not really dirty to begin with. I use a carpet scrubber on my rugs ever three to four months (I have a 14 month old puppy) and I get more dirt out of them then she just did.
Thank you!! I tried this trick exactly as shown and it finally got out my couch stains. They weren't big or super noticeable, but still bothered me. I tried before this video just directly spraying it with water, vinegar, and dish soap solution, but that just created a water spot! Thanks again.♥️
Step 2 - do the same with only water. That should complete the process as it will remove most soap particles. And then let it dry.
Or just use Norwex microfiber Cloths and water to begin with and problem solved and money saved.
Step 3 Profit
@@THEGLASSMANSWORLD A norwex cloth isn't going to get a couch or rug entirely clean without any cleaning solution. It disinfects but it's a cloth at the end of the day. It won't clean anything that thoroughly without a surfactant of some kind.

I just use old, clean socks, spray them with vinegar and/or diluted clothes detergent, place it over my hand, and wipe/scrub. It's much faster.
Exactly, but this video is a bit dramatic.
I agree. I was just curious how lid would clean. I think my hands would be better able to scrub
Yes...I keep wondering what is really the point of the lid.... does it work better somehow
Good idea. But doesn't the lid give you a much bigger service area than your hand? I'd use your trick to apply on an area where the lid wasn't enough on it's own. Thanks for sharing.
using lid maybe to protect delicate hand skin
I noticed that the edges of my pot lids were looking unclean. I sprayed some cleaning solution onto my couch cushions and then ran the pot lids over the top of them Sure enough, it cleaned the pot lids. The couch cushions were no longer clean so I turned them upside down.

Thank you very much. This works. I tried on my stained sofa and all the dirt and stains disappeared. Am happy. Thank you again.
The video I didn’t even know I needed. I was looking for organizing videos.
👍🏼✨ Great tip!
The mixture works on cloth seats but if you have deep stains you gotta scrub hard. It's better to wrap the cloth around a brush and scrub. This only works if you already have nearly clean seats
Actually, the edge of the lid have a lot of pressure to a small point to scrape the dirt away with so it works great.
I was thinking the same thing. As someone pointed out it's really just the edge of the lid doing the main work. If you skip the lid and just bunched it up it would work just fine and then you can flip it or rebunch it easily for a clean portion of the towel. Not sure how the lid is any improvement. Lots of wasted prepped towel behind the lid.
I like the thought of putting it over a brush because the microfiber is pulling out the hairs while the brush gives a more abrasive scrub.
It's the mixture that cleans the seats. Not the pot top. This only works on flat surfaces. You caint press hard enough with a pot top or get into cracks. A cloth wrapped around a brush is better. I tried both ways
I liked your idea. I did notice that you cleaned the dirty couch area, and then showed the dirt that covered the clean cloth. Also, as soon as you rinsed the “dirty” cloth back into the clean water, you could see just how much dirtier the water looked - that proves it picked up the dirt! Kudos to you for finding an easier method that doesn’t require the carpet to be soaked with unnecessary amounts of water!!! I have a very old beautiful wool carpet that would have cost me $800.00 to have professionally cleaned. I couldn’t afford that. I used this method, and was so impressed - the colours in my carpet looked so much brighter! ( it was an 8’x5’ carpet). It is also a much easier way to clean carpeted stairs - we have two indoor cats - i can’t thank you enough! I’m from Ontario, Canada.
Yes! I’m thinking about that chair my cat naps in. I’m going to try this.😁
This works !!!! And I don’t know why I didn’t need to use an elastic band,,, I don’t think I will ever look at a pot lid the same way again !! Thank you so much ❤I have shared this video with my sister and liked ✅ and subscribed ✅
I am 100% going to try this on my rugs, couches and even my car apholstry! I appreciate the pace of this video (and am so glad it's not full of quick edits and people screaming at me 😉
You made me laugh out loud with the comment about people screaming about everything, so true, ahahha.

Bissell...
Sometimes too much chatting about nothing in particular..soooo tiresome..hearing the unnecessary details! Great little video...car upholstery..yes!
I know how you feel. Too many edits and it starts to feel like screams in your ears.
That dish soap is going to act as a magnet for dirt once it dries.
this is so true. I haven't tried this, but I'm overly familiar with the dish soap magnitism. I wonder if a followup whipe with a cloth only soaked in water would make a difference in removing any dish soap residue. Another tip to add, if the furiture is covered in microfiber the easiest way to clean it without leaving a water ring is by using distilled water. Happy lid scrubbing to everyone!
could just use plain water, the water and microfiber alone can clean everything that stands water
Use vinegar and a few drops of any essential oil you like, instead of the soap. Of course, add it to the water. I’d say about a 1/2 cup vinegar to the water. The vinegar removes odors and is a fantastic cleaner, and when it dries, the vinegar smell is gone.
I didn’t know this!!
Agree with the plain water or perhaps follow-up the cleaning with another round of just water to remove the soap residue. Otherwise, soap residue can build up over time, especially with routine cleaning. I wouldn’t like to be exposed to soap whenever I sit/lay on the sofa. May not safe for pet either.
Sorry, but the couch and carpet looked clean already prior to you using the lid. Not a believer.
I was just thinking the same thing.
Try again lady with visibly dirtier carpet. DUH.
I tried and tried to believe, but I just couldn't see any evidence of its cleaning.

I've watched several of them, and I've been impressed each and every time.
These are hacks that I've never came across before.

I will certainly try it! I’ve cleaned chairs and couches with shaving cream before, shaving cream works well with stains such as grease. But you need to scrub the spot with a brush.
Really shaving cream!?. I'll have to try it!
I've used shaving cream, also, on stubborn spots. It even lifted nail polish out if the carpet!
I agree with Brendan on this one. If you start with something clean, your going to end up with something clean. Come on!!!

I was skeptical at first but oh my goodness it actually worked! I have been spending so much on carpet cleaners what a waste of money, just good old fashioned scrubbing with a cloth (I didn’t use a lid) did the trick! thank you so much!! you have saved me a fortune
Very awesome you cleaned the clean couch and cleaned some clean carpet With very little effort. Very impressive
Did I just watch a clean couch get cleaned lol 🤔🤪
I think so. How does a curved lid clean a flat surface. How??? How is the centre under the lid clean anything?? No sense..sorry..
@@karenlegebokoff6969 it's the edges of the pan that make the most contact with the cushions doing the scrubbing with help of the microfiber cloth. The circular shape just makes it cover surface area more smoothly and quickly, as well as easily hover over the convex shapes of couch cushions. That's why there is a faint ring of dust on the cloth when she removes it from the pot lid but you have to look closely.
This is fine for in between getting your couch professionally cleaned/shampooed. I have carpets upstairs so every couple years or so I get a company and they do the carpets and our downstairs couch at the same time. It's usually under 500 bucks. I scotch guard my couch - we have a dog but I still put on a throw blanket for him and he knows that's where he is supposed to lay on. But I'm a bit of a weirdo I guess :)
You’re not a weirdo. It is better to be safe than sorry. You know how much you can or want to handle and you make it easier for yourself. That’s the definition of self love.
I made your liquid cleaner for cleaning, but, I thought I wonder if this would work for the litter box because the least expensive spray at 14 dollars a spray bottle was no longer available and the replacement was in the 20 dollar range. So I tried your formula on the litter box and it is just as good at keeping down the smell as the store-bought freshener! THANKS
This really helped. You really removed a massive stain, so clearly, and with precision. Time well spent.
It works just tried on my carpet and chairs. Thanks for the tip
Great idea and a compilation of ideas and explanations in the comments ta complements this very well. Many ideas added to improve rhe task and can be suited to particular needs and situations. Short, quiet clear video...good job...from the philippines...I can use this on the car ceiling too!!!
This really works! I had a spot on off white carpet that came up. I already use dishsoap on couches but using the pot lid really allows a good, flat, grip. Thank you for the demo!
I just used this method on a mattress, that I had cleaned several times, with many different methods. One was actually a chemical to remove urine stains used at a school. Those seemed to make the mattress more yellow, and the outline of the stain never disappeared. I just used it, on this same mattress, knowing the mattress was excellant, but could not give it to anyone with those "stains". Lo and behold it worked, and I did not by any means soak the mattress, It came out beautifully, and for a young mom of 4 children, whose mattress had springs sticking out, she will be very happy and safe to use it. Being a spring mattress, rather than foam, there is not that deep depth of fabric to have to penetrate, I do not know how to clean the foam, type mattresses.
This is awesome, it obviously works very well - thank you for sharing!! 💖
I tried this on our new sofa and it looks like new afterwards :) amazing

I think this makes a lot of sense because when trying to just use a microfiber cloth, it just rolls up on itself. Good tip!
I love when someone comes up with an effective & efficient strategy when I feel like I'm overworking myself cleaning one spot but have an entire house to do lol
I tried it. It was quick and easy . . . It actually made my couch look clean! I was pretty skeptical about it at first . . . I will still steam clean it bc yes, let's say if my toddler pees or vomits on the couch- you still need deep steam cleaning. This works for lighter stains.
Now you know why I only buy leather furniture. Barf wipes right off.
Unintentional ASMR . Love the sounds . Thank you ❤

It works nice because it gives you a handle and a large surface area of scrubber. I think it’s great ! 👍
Love the Carpet/upholstery cleaning tip 10/10 from Dublin Ireland👍
Make sure you reapply the scotch guard that you cleaned off so you can ensure any spots come right out!! Upholstery Scotchguard not the carpet scotchguard
This is a great quick fix for stains that need to be removed right away but if you keep using this method you’re only trapping in the dirt dust and stain inside. And it will eventually look dingy from that plus the soapy water. You’ll have to do a hot steam extraction from a carpet cleaner to really get deep in there and suck out all of that residue. But definitely a great quick fix to wipe the visible stains 😊
We professional carpet cleaners actually often use something similar called VLM "Very Low Moisture." At home, I use a folded towel on small spots to absorb spilled liquids. Then apply Woolite FOAM upholstery cleaner ($5). After applying the foam, rub, don't scrub the area with a dry towel. It adds very little moisture so it does not wick up any soil from beneath. Repeat the next day if a stain wicks back up. PS: Leave a dry towel on the spot overnight to help prevent and stains from wicking.
Thanks so much, as this is such a great little trick using a pan lid as a way to apply the cleansers. This looks like it gives you more control over what is being cleaned and it covers a greater amount of the area being cleaned. Will definitely try this cleaning hack.😊👍🏻

Please read comments left by investigations by sure shot.. not unique or different than just using a drop of soap and water. It does not remove deep embedded stains. I am definitely going to give this a go. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for the useful and creative tip. I followed and clean my carpets and couch and bed nicely with this. But just one comment, i feel the baking soda and detergent dosage is too high. After the bed and couch and carpets dried from cleaning, my hands and legs felt sticky when i came into contact with them (e.g sitting or standing or walking in the couch and carpets). Upon rinsing my hands and legs, they felt very soapy. And when i walk or sit on these furniture again, the same repeats and it was very uncomfortable as they felt sticky and when i rinse my hands they are soapy. So i had to clean these furnitures again with same method but using just clean water. And i had to clean each of them 4 to 5 times with lots of cloth-rinsing in between in order to get rid of the soapiness likely due to the baking soda / detergent. So in the end, it tires me out totally and didnt felt easy or helpful. I am surprised nobody else experiences this from following the tip. Just a headsup in case you are going to try. And also to the video owner, you might want to revise your recommendation.
Also possible your cloth was too saturated. Might try wringing it out more
I agree that it was way too much soap. The baking soda softens the water which makes the soap effect stronger.

I see what you are doing , cover a larger surface area with the saucepan lid , you don’t over wet the area by using micro fibre also using your hand instead of a machine you can feel and have more control. I’ll defo try even though I have a carpet cleaner. Thank you. 🙂

ASMR stands for "Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response." It typically refers to the "tingly feeling" that travels from the head downward that some experience in response to certain sounds, feelings, or descriptions. These can include soft whispering, crinkling paper, or a gentle touch. Bob Ross was one of the first to introduce this during his painting shows with his soft voice and the sounds of his paint brushes sweeping against the canvas.
I will try it your way. But one comment said vacuum first and wet after that. I liked this way

Hey, thank you! Great little trick to refresh upholstery! Love it. And glad no one is YELLING at me for being helpful!!! 😮
If there is any dampness left of the surface, it will contain soap, and soap is a dirt magnet and will attract dirt faster on the newly cleaned surface and with repeated use may affect the quality of the fiber. You want the fiber to be in its squeaky clean so dirt falls off.
How can I rinse away the detergent?
