    As a professional carpet/sofa cleaner i have to say that this method works ONLY in surface. There is no deep cleaning and all the dust and acarea which they leave INSIDE the coushions are not removed this way. This is just for refreshing the fabric and if you do that frequently your sofa will smell bad eventually because of the dust inside which it gets wet.
    My friendly advice to you: Vaccum your sofas first for deep cleaning and THEN rub the fabric.

      You cant remove all the dirt through vacuum. Vacuum is only to remove water from washed sofa but the material inside the fabric works like a filter which hold all the dust inside. So your comment is not accurate

    I actually tried this solution, albeit skeptically, on a stain on our west elm couch. I didn’t use the lid, just the solution, a white microfiber cloth, and my hand. Lo and behold the white cloth was coming up dingy after a few rubs. I repeated several times and then went over the rest of the couch lightly. I also rinsed the cloth with water and rubbed the stain and couch as a final step, as some suggested. To my surprise, the next day when dry, the stain was completely gone. I was shocked.
    I couldn’t be happier. Saving this video.

      Apologize for my stupidity, I can't see what the Lid is used for in this approach. What is the different between using a Lid as a "Skeleton" and simply a cleaning towel? Or, it will increase the surface area to save some time?

    As a pro cleaner, I would like to make a suggestion for DIY. The lid thing is pretty cool, however the dish soap is not. Use a foaming carpet and upholstery cleaner made for your car instead of dish soap. If you ever have it professionally cleaned after using dish soap, please tell the pro what you did lol. This stuff will foam up to the point of him having to use a lot of defoamer to clean it and yes it will cost extra. Dish soap may feel soft after cleaning but it is quite sticky and will attract a lot of dirt. The foaming upholstery cleaner will dry as a fine powder that is easily vacuumed out, leaving little to no residue. Great video and It could get you out of a bind, but use the foaming upholstery cleaner on the same spots to remove some of the dish soap as soon as possible.

      Thats because its a dumb idea, and no better than simply putting a rag in your hand and scrubbing. And since the lid is concave, the pressure point is a thin ring, instead of much more surface area of pressure from just your own hand.

      It probably works well with furniture that is lightly soiled. If it's real dirty, it will take more time (and cloths) You could see some soiling on the cloth when she unwrapped the lid. Looks like it will work ok. The more often you clean your upholstery, it will be quicker to do.

      I was thinking the same thing. As someone pointed out it's really just the edge of the lid doing the main work. If you skip the lid and just bunched it up it would work just fine and then you can flip it or rebunch it easily for a clean portion of the towel. Not sure how the lid is any improvement. Lots of wasted prepped towel behind the lid.

Also, as soon as you rinsed the “dirty” cloth back into the clean water, you could see just how much dirtier the water looked - that proves it picked up the dirt! Kudos to you for finding an easier method that doesn’t require the carpet to be soaked with unnecessary amounts of water!!! I have a very old beautiful wool carpet that would have cost me $800.00 to have professionally cleaned. I couldn’t afford that. I used this method, and was so impressed - the colours in my carpet looked so much brighter! ( it was an 8’x5’ carpet). @@karenlegebokoff6969 it's the edges of the pan that make the most contact with the cushions doing the scrubbing with help of the microfiber cloth. The circular shape just makes it cover surface area more smoothly and quickly, as well as easily hover over the convex shapes of couch cushions. That's why there is a faint ring of dust on the cloth when she removes it from the pot lid but you have to look closely.

    This is fine for in between getting your couch professionally cleaned/shampooed. I have carpets upstairs so every couple years or so I get a company and they do the carpets and our downstairs couch at the same time. It's usually under 500 bucks. I scotch guard my couch - we have a dog but I still put on a throw blanket for him and he knows that's where he is supposed to lay on. But I'm a bit of a weirdo I guess :)

    I just used this method on a mattress, that I had cleaned several times, with many different methods. One was actually a chemical to remove urine stains used at a school. Those seemed to make the mattress more yellow, and the outline of the stain never disappeared. I just used it, on this same mattress, knowing the mattress was excellant, but could not give it to anyone with those "stains". Lo and behold it worked, and I did not by any means soak the mattress, It came out beautifully, and for a young mom of 4 children, whose mattress had springs sticking out, she will be very happy and safe to use it. Being a spring mattress, rather than foam, there is not that deep depth of fabric to have to penetrate, I do not know how to clean the foam, type mattresses.

    This is a great quick fix for stains that need to be removed right away but if you keep using this method you’re only trapping in the dirt dust and stain inside. And it will eventually look dingy from that plus the soapy water. You’ll have to do a hot steam extraction from a carpet cleaner to really get deep in there and suck out all of that residue. But definitely a great quick fix to wipe the visible stains 😊

  • @mamajan99
    @mamajan99 4 місяці тому

    We professional carpet cleaners actually often use something similar called VLM "Very Low Moisture." At home, I use a folded towel on small spots to absorb spilled liquids. Then apply Woolite FOAM upholstery cleaner ($5). After applying the foam, rub, don't scrub the area with a dry towel. It adds very little moisture so it does not wick up any soil from beneath. Repeat the next day if a stain wicks back up. PS: Leave a dry towel on the spot overnight to help prevent and stains from wicking.

    Thanks for the useful and creative tip. I followed and clean my carpets and couch and bed nicely with this. But just one comment, i feel the baking soda and detergent dosage is too high. After the bed and couch and carpets dried from cleaning, my hands and legs felt sticky when i came into contact with them (e.g sitting or standing or walking in the couch and carpets). Upon rinsing my hands and legs, they felt very soapy. And when i walk or sit on these furniture again, the same repeats and it was very uncomfortable as they felt sticky and when i rinse my hands they are soapy. So i had to clean these furnitures again with same method but using just clean water. And i had to clean each of them 4 to 5 times with lots of cloth-rinsing in between in order to get rid of the soapiness likely due to the baking soda / detergent. So in the end, it tires me out totally and didnt felt easy or helpful. I am surprised nobody else experiences this from following the tip. Just a headsup in case you are going to try. And also to the video owner, you might want to revise your recommendation.

      ASMR stands for "Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response." It typically refers to the "tingly feeling" that travels from the head downward that some experience in response to certain sounds, feelings, or descriptions. These can include soft whispering, crinkling paper, or a gentle touch. Bob Ross was one of the first to introduce this during his painting shows with his soft voice and the sounds of his paint brushes sweeping against the canvas.
