After messing with this EOS webcam utility (install, hookup, no connection, uninstall, reinstall, etc.) I finally figured out that when using the Canon EOS 7D Mark II you need to remove the both storage cards in order for the utility to function. I wish that information was up front at the beginning. Now that I'm up and running thanks for this piece of software.
I'm using a M50 and tried to remove the storage card but I'm still just getting a black screen that says "EOS Macbeth Utility." Not sure what's going on.
Finally, FINALLY! An answer to what I have been searching for but in an actual problem solved manner. I'm so mad it took this long lol Thanks for the video!!!
Doe not work Mac M1 Monterey OS. Installed twice. Wasted two hours. Doesn't show up and folder only contains uninstaller. Facetime and Zoom do not recognize the utility. Now what?
Most issues can be solved by quitting the Google Drive App (Backup & Sync) because it connects to your camera to download and backup photos from your camera which makes it impossible to use it as a webcam while it is in that mode. Closing the Google Drive app helps immediately.
Guys, if you are searching for a fix for Big Sur (my version 11.2.3) follow this. (Worked for me Canon 6D Mark II) My current settings: - Disable Wifi/Bluetooth - Remove the memory card - Change the resolution from 25fps to 50 fps. (I think the MOST IMPORTANT HAHAHA) It worked super amazing. I was able already to use on Facetime and Facebook chat :)
Great stuff! Got it to work with my EOS 700D firmware 1.0.3 on an M1 Mac Mini running Ventura 13.2 ! Trick is to disable the digital zoom on your camera and to grab the older version MacOS 12 so you get to see the utility. Did take some tweaking but once I got passed the digital zoom issue it worked perfectly in OBS, Teams, Zoom etc.. great.. hope to see it supporting MacOS 13 soon.. :)
Hi! Our developers are taking a close look at macOS Big Sur. You'll want to check back at canon.us/livestream from time to time for any updates. Hope this helps!
Really LOVE this! I've been waiting for the official as the beta wasn't working for us. BTW, super job Genaro, great energy and professional presentation!
I own the Canon M50 mark 2 and upgraded my Mac to OS12 Monterey before installing the EOS Webcam utility. Is there a compatibility issue because I can not get this to operate consistently. Canon even had me remove my memory card to run the software. Anyone having trouble and offer a solution?

Hi! As we make it a rule to wait for an operating system to get out of its beta phase before developing software for it, our programmers are taking a look at macOS Big Sure now that it has had its official release. Hope this helps!
I'm using a Canon R5 and I followed all the instructions and it's not working. I see the Webcam Utility in Zoom and in Mimolive but there is no signal. It's in video mode and the camera is working (see movement on the back screen). It's connected by USB-C but it not being recognized. I just installed the Utility and restarted. What else should I look for? I'm running Ventura 13.1 on a Mac Pro.

A year ago I wrote to them and they told me that Canon was working on the use of Web Utility for Mac Mini and M-50, it seems that Canon does not have the capacity to give us that service. Canon has left us abandoned I will not buy a Canon equipment again if the service is going to be that way. I feel disappointed.

Good morning! My Mac just updated to Big Sur and when I choose it from the dropdown menu there is no EOS Webcam Utility application. Before was Catalina and if I select as Catalina, yes, there is a version of the software available. Is there any problem to use this one or should I wait for Canon updates? Hi, Gary! EOS Webcam Utility should be able to work with both Skype and Apple FaceTime. You can visit canon.us/livestream to see a complete list of supported videoconferencing and livestreaming applications. If you're having trouble with either of those two apps, we recommend trying other apps to test your setup. If the problem is isolated to those two apps, then you'll want to carefully check their settings and you'll also want to make sure you don't also have EOS Utility running in the background as it will take control of your camera when it's connected. If you have problems in each application that you try, then you'll want to contact our US-based EOS support squad so that they can find a solution for you. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666). Hope this helps!
@@grjlynch Did you ever get it working with FaceTime? As far as I can tell Canon decided to only build FaceTime support for High Sierra... which seems inappropriate really. Big Sur is now a year old, and Monterey is the latest.

I spent an hour on help with Canon tech support and got a dead end. I have a Canon R5 and a MacBook Pro M1 from 2021. I was simply trying to use it for Zoom, and it needed this EOS Webcam Utility. My problem is that the camera isn't showing up in the Web Utility at all. It shows up in the Image Capture for import images and it shows up in the EOS Utility 3 for live shooting. When I open the Web Utility adding a source only allows me to add my built-in MBP webcam and my iPhone that's not even connected. The R5 that is connected won't show up.

Hi Rodrigo: The resolution is generally 1024x576 when in video mode, with this software. This can vary depending on the model of camera being used. Hope this information is useful.
Some will report HD resolutions of 1280x720 but its really hard to figure out how that negotiation occurs or with what reliability. Also the limit is in part due to USB 2 restrictions on bandwidth of an uncompressed video signal.
@@BrianLamb-rocketmanblamb Hi, I use a Canon 70D for live conferencing and zoom calls. But I keep getting the black bars. I'm guessing the aspect ratio is 4:3 instead of 16:9. On rare occasions, I actually get the correct aspect ratio with thin vertical bars but for the most part, I keep getting the 4:3 aspect ratio (both vertical and horizontal black bars). Are you familiar with this problem? If so, how do you fix it?
@@Chaindriver that’s strange Zoom has aspect ratio settings, check those of course. It also has a Use HD option. Generally check those settings. There aren’t any real setting with the webcam software that I’m aware of.... it kind of either just works or there is some problem with the connection/negotiation. Perhaps setting the camera video modes has some effect as well. Even though I started doing this with the webcam software I also have since moved to using the HDMI and OBS. It’s modestly more complex but not really much, and you will reliably get a true HD output. Good luck. I thought the 7d Mark ii with USB 3 would support uncompressed HD. And still kind of waiting to see if that comes and maybe I’d find it easier in certain circumstances to just use the webcam software.

Waiting for M1 Monterey too

Thanks for the video. It’s just a shame that it does not seem to work for Skype or FaceTime.
Hope this information is useful.
Can you share which camera may support above the 1024x576 resolution?
@@Chaindriver that’s strange
Zoom has aspect ratio settings, check those of course.
Any plans to integrate the C70 to work with the webcam utility?

For information specific to your camera, we recommend checking with the Canon company that serves the country or region your camera was intended for. You can find them by visiting canon.us/globalsupport and clicking on the map.
Hope this helps!
What about the sound from the camera.. How I can use the mic from it?
Hi Dawid!
The EOS Webcam Utility does not transmit audio from the camera microphone through the USB connection. You can use your computer’s built-in microphone or an external microphone separately connected to your computer, to capture audio.
We hope this information is helpful.
Is there a version for a EOS 250D for version MacOS 13 Ventura yet?
Been an absolute nightmare and still not connected to Zoom & Screanflow 10 on MacOS 13 Ventura with all the latest software & firmware updates!
Hi, Robert! As the EOS 250D isn't offered in the United States, we're unable to ensure that the version of EOS Webcam Utility we offer will work with it. For support, we recommend contacting the Canon company that serves the country or region your camera was intended for. You can find them by visiting canon.us/globalsupport and clicking on the map.
Have a great day!
I have a Canon xf305 is the software just for EOS DSLRs?

Does this work with the canon 6D?
It sure does! Learn more at canon.us/livestream
Does this mean I don’t have to use a capture card and a micro HDMI to HDMI cable on my Canon 80D to use as a webcam for Zoom and Microsoft Team Meetings? I can use this software with no additional accessories required correct?
Hi! When you're using EOS Webcam Utility, all you need is a USB cable to connect your EOS 80D to your computer and you'll be ready for livestreaming and videoconferencing. As the EOS 80D doesn't provide a clean HDMI feed, EOS Webcam Utility is the perfect solution.
Hope this helps!
@@CanonUSA where can I get the USB cable? I didn’t get one with my Canon 80D? Please help
@@Elmo6961 it's a standard usb cable, I believe micro usb, very commonly found. You may already have one. Note that SOME of these kinds of cable are for charging ONLY and will not pass data on. So, if one doesn't work, try another. Of course you can buy Canon cable too. shop.r10s.jp/photoassist/cabinet/imgrc0067929164.jpg
I installed the ESO Utility and it will not recognize my camera M50. It did recognize it with the beta version which I did uninstall. All I get is a black screen. I have Windows 10 64 and have done everything as recommended. If you have any suggestions they will be appreciated.
Hi Mark:
You will want to make sure that you have met the requirements listed in the [Tips & Tricks] and [FAQ} sections of the Webcam Utility page at this link: Canon.us/n7tkr. If you confirm this and still have trouble, you can post your question under the [FAQ] section for additional help.
We hope you find this useful.
@@CanonUSA I got it to work! Thank you for taking the time to comment. Now I am figuring out the mic.
Will this not work on a M1 MacBook Pro 14" with the Monterey operating system? I'm using a Canon RP... it worked fine on my Microsoft Surface.
Hi, Dan! We designed EOS Webcam Utility to work on macOS v10.13 High Sierra, macOS v10.14 Mojave, and macOS v10.15 Catalina. We're unable to ensure compatibility with other versions of macOS.
Hope this helps!
@@CanonUSA Thank you. Monterey is the newest. Do you plan on keeping up with them or should I search other options since the Canon utility won’t work on the new ones?
We recommend checking with our EOS support team about this. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666). They'll be happy to find a solution for you!
Great! I streamed my first live video and saved it to the SD card simultaneously. However, when I tied to upload the video from the SD card
to our website it wouldn't allow the file to be uploaded. How do I get the files (Video) to transfer from the SD card to our website?

Hi Canon.
I have a T5i and a MacBook Pro. I have an audio interface to use with my Mac. Question: will I be able to record video from my camera using the audio I get from my external mic/interface and save them both on the Mac’s HD instead of a SD card?
Thanks.
Hello:
Being able to record video to the drive on your MacBook will depend on the software and capture application you have on the computer. The EOS Webcam Utility allows you to use your camera as a webcam and send a video signal, by USB, to your computer (the camera does not send audio). You can find a list of apps supported by the Webcam Utility on our steaming webpage here: Canon.us/n7tkr.
We hope this helps.
@@CanonUSA Thank you very much! This was very helpful! I appreciate the fast response, too!
