@PohnnyRico They keep dreaming, first hoping the Strix Halo HX 370 would find it's way to handhelds, now hoping Strix Halo is somehow going to fit a mini PC. FP11 is the largest BGA package I've ever seen, nothing mini about it.
@@drewnewbyIf it fits in a laptop then it should fit in a mini PC. Possibly with better cooling and stronger power delivery. On the other hand, Strix Halo for handhelds is a bad idea - too big and power hungry.
@Mervinion What are you even talking about? LxWxH, guess what laptops have a lot of and mini PCs do not. Strix Halo is coming to desktop replacement / mobile workstation laptops, the boards have far too much area for mini PC layout. Also, yes power is a secondary reason. Z2 will fill the gap, as a cut down Strix Point, and Kraken Point comes for the rest in late 2025.
@Aggrosk8 Say what you really mean, that you want replies to be positive about LTT. I think Hoonter101's reply is just the right amount of snarky, given Linus' track record. I hope he donated a lot of cold hard cash also, he needs the counter PR, and it's for a good cause.
I don't care about positivity or negativity I care about the truth. Spreading positive lies only leads to a debt that must be paid to the truth sooner or later.
@@drewnewbyno, uh Hoonter101's comment was pretty random, op didn't mention anything of his 'track record' just that he donated. which he did. also the part where you said "I hope he donated a lot of cold hard cash" it was just cringe, like actually just read it back.
Everyone who wears glasses every day had a situation like this. Since it happened to me I always have a second pair of specs. Getting new prescribed lenses takes time, because most of glasses sales points don't cut them on site, you have to wait even up to 2 weeks!
One thing people forget about Intel is ever since specter/meltdown they have had an ~8% performance loss avg on gaming for all CPUs since with mitigation measures for the Hyper threading vulnerability started being added, up to 20%+ in productivity and server related tasks. That is why Intel is ditching Hyper threading entirely finally 6 years later. (note: the mitigation measures never fully protected against attacks.) While the performance of 15th gen is only ~15% higher than 14th gen, I believe that people are greatly underestimating the boost that will come when mitigations measures for Hyperthreading are not required. Even as early as March of this year INTEL did ANOTHER round of mitigation measures that affected all CPUs with ATOM e-cores reducing their performance. It has been an ongoing Wack a mole for them for 6 years, with each generation getting some kind of mitigation pre and post launch. Each time adding a bit of a performance hit. It has been 6+ years and people forget the massive loss in performance for 9th gen and older CPU's that happened overnight when security measures were added. They have forgotten that for the last 6 years constant hyperthreading vulnerability mitigation measures have been added to subsequent generations of processors. None of their processor for the past 6 years have gotten the full performance possible because of it. -------------------- Anyway, that is my 2 cents. 15th gen won't use Hyperthreading. That alone will offer a performance uplift, separate from anything else.
Didn't say this before but gonna do it now. I like EVERY episode of Hot News just so that YT algorithms work more in favor of this channel. And I don't give a like to a lot of videos. Hang tight, Brett, here's to hope that this Syngap-1 stuff will pass with positive result.

despite some stagnation of intel, seeing their failure and bad attitude towards users in the story with 13 and 14 generations. I will turn away from them only if the 15 and 16 generations of desktop processors will be something ordinary, with a 10% increase, as before. They must jump above their heads and present something really good.
So Intel's revenue is double Qualcomm's, but that's not quite what they "make". Intel's net income, their profit, is a fraction, 20% of Qualcomm's, the last time I looked, and likely even less now. Intel's total assets are mostly in fab, which Gelsinger hoped he could spin off before the market was savvy, and after the US government wrote them a multi-billion dollar check. He failed on both counts, and misrepresented financials to boot. Qualcomm likely won't be allowed, but a fabless Intel, would definitely be within Qualcomm's budget.
I'm on this weird space where I would prefer the 8c/32cu over the 16/40, because in a laptop I wouldn't have to have the extra ccx latency and power use for limited performance boosts for most stuff.... But I always buy the flag ships...
Also if they made a proton compatibility layer for arm64, then they would only need to do an arm64 based steamOS to have the steam deck also use arm64, which would be great for battery life; they could even use an nvidia SoC.
