I genuinely don't understand how you don't have more views, man. These videos are very, very, very helpful. Grabbed a 510c because of your stuff- and now one of these is in the mail. I appreciate it.
The BEST thing about these Vortex Holo red dots is keeping EoTech honest. I love both the EoTech XPS/EXPS series & these Vortex UH-1 optics. We need to keep them innovating and competing. I won't be pivoting anytime soon from my EoTech EXPS simply cause i already have it and i prefer the side button adjustments. That said, i would not be sad to have the Vortex and if someone buying their 1st holographic red dot I think either way you can't go wrong. YMMV.. thanks for the great review C_DOES!
I have this optic and absolutely LOVE it! Vortex really nailed it with this one. The only downside is if you are using a magnifier the rear facing buttons can be hard to get to. However, I love the placement of the buttons because I am never guessing which button does what. I have used Aimpoint, Trijicon, Sig, and Holosun dots. The Uh-1 Gen II is my personal favorite.
Exactly! That is why I actually prefer dials. They are easy to grab, easy to adjust, and you know precisely where you are in relation to its min/max brightness
@@TuBui2 If you have any kind of an astigmatism, the UH-1 Gen 2 will probably work better for you v a red dot style optic such as the 512. If you want a set it and forget it optic where battery life is paramount, I would go with the 512. The Uh-1 Gen 2 has a about a 1500 hour battery life on a medium setting. To me, holographic sights are just a little bit faster and the absence of noticeable parallax is a bonus. I do not own a 512 but I have shot guns with them and I do like that optic as well. Finally, one other thing to consider is that Vortex will back their products with the best customer service in the industry.
@@weekendwarrior8334 I have an old vortex SPAR AR which gets the job done (with some astigmatic star-bursting and flickering when moving the optic around) but just think square-window optics are cooler. Having an optic which get solves my astigmatism would be great too. Thanks for the suggestions. Leaning toward the vortex UH-1 right now.
This is the video I was looking for when I didn’t really understand how these sights worked (I played a lot of call of duty) and I could never find a video like this. Today I own a shit load of guns and I’m looking to throw the is on a vector. I can’t express enough how well this video is made!
I have already bought a UH-1 Gen II and I absolutely love it. But I still want your take on it and watch the video post-buy :) Awesome video as always!
This is how you review an optic. You need more subscribers sir, thank you. I have two of these optics and they work great, I love all aspects of this optic. Manufacturers should be sending you tons of stuff to review.
Great, great review - LOVE that you've made it so clear how the "viewer" will see it instead of those just talking clean speccs on something. Good job! Really, really want the Razor AMG, but really, reall don't want to pay over 1k USD for it :D ..
If you like this sight, add a Vortex 3X Micro-Magnifier behind it. Man, alive it awesome! Makes the reticle look even sharper, just the right amount of magnification for better aiming. Will tilt out of the way if not needed. Since it clamps on the rail behind the UH-1 doesn't involve zeroing anything. Although there are adjustments that allow the UH-1 reticle to be centered if it wasn't. Goes on and off quickly enough that the magnifier can be carried in a pocket.
I have the gen 1 and gen 2 and I can say that the gen 1 drains battery over time where the gen 2 doesn't. however, the gen 1 was a father's day present and I can never part with it :)
@@mattkilpatrick4667 oh yeah, it's awesome. I am, however, trending towards the auto-on optics as a standard so outside of owning the gen 1 and 2 I won't buy another
Stumbled on your videos, they are absolutely awesome. Its a real disapointment when stores post what the reticle looks like but not what it REALLY looks like when youre looking through it with various terrain. Any chance youll get your hands on an ELCAN SPECTER?
Solid review as always! In my opinion, if you've already got an Eotech, I probably wouldn't make the move over. However, if you have a Gen 1 and if you've got the money, go ahead and backorder the Gen 2. Resale on the Gen 1 is still $400+ on the used market. The Gen 2 is worth every bit of the $100 or less out of pocket that you would be paying.
The way you review this optic is perfect! Ty! When do we get the vortex spitfire 1x. It's etched, has adjustable windage and elevation like a scope, it's just pretty badass and im stuck between holographic and prism!
Mine came with an awful fuzzy reticle, even in my phone camera, the reticle center dot changes shape and size if you look at it from even slightly different angles, I am convinced there is an issue with one of the mirrors or glass inside because this is not like other vortex uh1s I am seeing
Stick to small body red dots. Holographic sights are extremely overrated, especially when properly getting sight picture with both eyes open. If all you can use to aim is one eye then sure, holographic sights would be the superior option for 1x capabilities.... But for the rest of us with proper training the red dot will forever be superior.
How do you feel about this vs the Eotech XPS 2? Don't have nightvision so that functionality isn't needed. I like vortex warranty but have heard issues with battery life. Thanks and awesome review
Considering trying the Gen 2. I sold my EXPS3-0TAN a while back. I was thinking if buying another one, but I'm curious about the Huey. I'm wondering if it is less or more astigmatism friendly than the EOTECH. I found it a tad fuzzy. Wondering if the Huey is better or worse in that regard.
I have a few of these 2 gen 1 and 1 of the gen2. The gen2 is absolutely worth it. The glass is better. It’s just better. I do also own 5 eotechEXPS3’s and they are still best. But these are a great second choice.
Fantastic review! Quick question, when paired with the primary arms magnifier, does the standard height mount lineup correctly? Thanks for the great video!
Does this optic get a lower 1/3 cowitness with iron sights? Great video with lots of info. Im trying to decide on a EOtech EXPS or the Vortex UH1 Vortex seems to have a much better warranty
I've got two of these now and the only problem I've ever had is polarizing conflict with a cheapo PVS14 made it almost too dim to be useful but it works perfectly behind a filmless white phosphor monocular so just 1 more reason to buy better NODS from the getgo(like I needed another excuse). Thanks for your review, it helped me choose a new favorite optic and not judge the new UH1 by my experiences with the original version.

The UH1 Gen II feels like itll withstand a bomb. Is American made, and is nearly flawless. You pay extra for that, but I feel they are worth it as long as the height will work for you.
I want a holographic sight and I’m torn between what one. Something Eotech or the Vortex UH1. Do you have a video showing a comparison between the two brands? I keep leaning towards the UH1 because of the warranty and the reticle.
I have to wonder if some big gov org put out a contract for a US made boxy RDS like an EOTech? Vortex, Leuopold and Sig all put out a similar optic, all made in the USA.
I'm actually torn between the new Vortex UH-1 or Huey and EOTECH EXPS 3. But, I can't go wrong with either one. The big difference is Vortex has a lifetime warranty. Hmmmmm 😁😁👍👍💯💯
