Great video! The UH-1 Gen 2 now comes with NV so when compared to EXPS3 they're very similar in size, weight and capabilities.

The new uh1 gen II is night vision capable now.
One thing about holographic sights is that they don’t project the laser out.. so enemy can’t see laser.. that’s why navy seals and spec ops use them.. love your channel keep it up 👍😊

Great video! First comparison I've seen, just got the UH-1 ordered and feel even more excited about receiving it. Wish the new micro 3x magnifier was better priced though lol.

Only paid 200 for my micro3x magnifier brand new. Keep a look out for sales.
Vortex UH-1 discontinued. A note from Vortex "Can't go into much detail yet, but keep an eye out for the return of the UH-1 around late July."

Good video. good side by side comparison. I have had an Eotech (512) on my AR15 since 2008/9. Had two issues: delamination (2010) and battery terminals (2017). Eotech fixed the delamination issue (free) and they sent me a battery terminal kits (free). I can confidently shot 2 MOA with the Eotech on my rifle. I will tell anyone that has an Eotech, use lithium batteries as this will avoid corrosion issues. I am on 5 years using the same lithium batteries. I am seriously considering a XPS2-0 for a second AR15 of mine. Once that delamination issue was fixed (the battery terminal issue was caused by using non lithium batteries), I have not had a single issue out of my 512 which has seen hot and humid weather (100 F+) to 30 F in the rain. That's 10 years of stellar service. I would imagine a new XPS2-0 would be perform just as well especially since Eotech has addressed the delamination issues with their sights.
I put fresh battery in every December and use that battery in a flash light.

I put my rifle together myself for 380 bucks because I bought it in pieces from Palmetto. As much as I love optics, especially the aim points we used in the army....I can't justify to myself paying more for an optic than I did my rifle lol. Call me cheap, still rocking irons and a light 😂🇺🇸👍
Have you ever noticed that sometimes you missed something and you didn't know that you did before until you get reminded. Is the first time in a long time that I've seen someone do a side by side comparison to anything gun-related. I think it's very important to do so. People need to know when they're making a good decision.
Id deffinatly run the eotech...have 2 of them. just the durability improvement is enough for me to pick it over vortex
Great video... I grew up in southern Texas ....hunting, fishing and riding horses! I'm a war vet Desert Storm....US ARMY 8 years. I am white and my best friend Jeremy was black - you remind me so much of him. He consider me his brother. I'm building a AR15 pistol ( Spikes lower ) and doing research on what red/green dot sights to get. Great job! I miss my Texas, also where can I buy that t-shirt ? Take care...

Vortex has great scopes and a warranty. I use Sightmark on 7.62 though (Ultra Shot M Spec (FMS))

I had the exact same issue as you with the battery draining on my new Vortex as well. I sent it in and they acknowledged that there was a battery drain issue. They replaced it and had it back to me in about a week. Great customer service. I also agree on the Vortex buttons...not a huge deal but it is kind of awkward to turn it off...I'd prefer something like holding down the "down" button for 5 seconds or something.

NSW/CRANE said the EOTECH EXPS3 is the only optic that is truly paralax free.. I'm glad when EOTECH had that issue years ago ( I never had that issue ) . They finally released their reticle so other companies can use it . I love the doughnut of death reticle. I have EOTECH 553 SOCOM I bought in 2009. Still works to this day .
I chose to go with Vortex Huey because if the price . It came with 1/3 co witness mount . There is a $200 difference in price between the Huey and EXPS2 or 3. ( EOTECH EX means NV Compatible. The Xps is non NV for the these style of EOTECH. SOCOM about a year ago chose the EXPS3 for all their assaulters. The doughnut of death reticle whether it's HWS or LED are the best option for CQC. That's why my HD MK18 is sporting HS515CM and My G19 MOS is rocking 508T.

He hasn't had a chance to use it yet due to time restraints for his military training but I'm sure he'll like it. I think I'm leaning more towards the Vortex. Looks like a good quality sight at a friendlier price. Keep up the good work. 👌

I just got into the market for a new optic and these were two of the three on the list. Gonna have to think about whether or not I want NV for my optic or if I'm just gonna run an IR laser. Either way you did sell me on the Vortex Micro Magnifier with your other video. Keep up the good work.

Also, I thought the Huey was capable of night vision. I thought the Gen 1 had a refresh rate and clarity problem that supposedly got fixed in Gen 2.

Excellent video bro! The only thing else i would have touched on is the different reticles with bdc you can get for the eotech. Also the nv model has a little bit better of a submersion rate than the non nv.
Razor vortex all day everyday. No questions asked Lifetime warranty is priceless. Compared to eotechs 10 year warranty LOL
Let’s be real though. 10 years is a really good warranty lol. It makes it seem like you think Eotech warranty is like only a week lol

Yea, man, I was stuck in between an XPS3-2 and the Vortexs gen2 hu1.
I took a look at both reticle, and for sure, to my eye inside and outside the vortex is a lot more crisp.
But...
Thos optic is going on an SBR build (APC9 pro)
So, I also needed it to be 100% passive NV compatible.
When it came to that, the XpS3-2 had it for me.
Also the fact that I can use an easy BDC for my 9mil with the help of the Strelok app. That was a plus for the eotech. Finally, when I saw that, you can actually range with the -2 reticle that was it.. it was a keeper.
So I bought it, dropped it in to zero at 25 yards, and pushed it to 200 yards 25 - 100 was paper to see the Groups bench shooting and then standing.
At 200 yards, I was using steel because, let's be honest.. 9mm 200 yards with a holographic sight.. there's not much pin point accuracy going on there, especially on this limited rail space, and wanted to conserve the sweet weight and balance of the APC9. All in all, it's a keeper. The only thing that just annoys me is that eotech states their turrets were intentionally made to feel like moosh.. weather some report it on thier windage or elevation -_-
Bunch of bull S... after feeding it 350 rounds in that range trip from bench and standing. Smooth shooting to shooting as fast as possible without going into a mag dump.. my elevation turret started to click like my windage.
It's definitely a QC problem, and I'm starting to believe that some ppl on the interwebs are right to say that there is a small dabree from the assembly process.
Other than that, yes, the XPS3-2 is the optic that made sense to me for my specific build.

The reticle on the Huey just looks a little too busy for me.
i have an eotech 552, and i like it enough, the housing feels tough, like i could drop it from 20 feet up and it will still keep zero. i do like a sight with with a wider sight picture that's why i went with an eotech vs a vortex.

I ordered a Vortex Razor Huey, couldn't get a hold of Optics Planet to see when my order would ship. The order said from 7-17 days, but the estimated ship date was November 2020. I tried to get a hold of them, but they pointed me back to their website. Finally gave up, cancelled my order. I can find Eotech at Sportsman's Wearhouse, so I chose to go with a proven sight, one that is available, and can get a hold of someone.

The SIG ROMEO 8T was actually designed to ride on SIGs new 338 Norma machine gun made for the US Army and built like a tank with a huge 38mm view window. I sold all my Eotechs when they lied and were sued by the DOJ over the thermal drift. As for as I know it was never fixed only the owners manual was change.
EOTech’s CEO resigned and they brought in engineers and a quality control specialist. EOTech tests every optic that goes to the DOD for thermal drift. Civilian optics are made the same way. EOTech has fixed all of their problems and you won’t experience any thermal drift beyond what you would get with a red dot sight like an Aimpoint.

Thank you for this comparison video. I will point out you refer to the EOTech model you review as the EXPS2 a few times, but I'm pretty sure the example you are displaying is an EXPS3. The difference is the night vision capability-your EXPS3 has the round NV button on the side; the EXPS2 would not. Speaking of side buttons, viewers should be aware that the XPS models from EOTech (not the EXPS models) do have the buttons on the back, like the UH1; I agree, side mounted buttons are better, especially if running with a magnifier.

Very good review on both items.
For work I do lots of shooting under NODs. For years I ran an eotech and never once used the NVG setting. Just ran it super dim, didnt wash out my NODs that I could tell. Ran it on dim for when I went from dark to lit rooms or outside to inside at night, then I didnt have to hit another button just tilted my head up or flipped the NODs up real quick. So for me no big deal. NVG settings work great but cant see it at all if you roll into a bright room from a dark one so never used it outside of just plinking. Just food for thought.

Spent nearly $1,400 on an exps 3-4 and g33 magnifier last night. Somewhat having second thoughts, but somewhat not... There's a reason spec ops have used it for so long... I like the vortex optics, but I still have a hunch that eotech is better. Plus, it works with nv. I suppose, if I ever get in a situation that I'm planning for (but probably likely won't happen), I'll be happy at the things I did buy and really upset at the things I didn't. I don't know... Lol.
So what's your final thought. Was it worth it?

Great review but these are just out of reach for me. After accepting this fact Ive narrowed down to 3: Holosun HS512C, sig Romeo, and the Vortex Sparc AR. Any insight or experiences on these 3 or a suggestion in the $350 max range?
Only true advantage that Eotech has is that its Battle hardened with our military. Been through hell and back and proven itself so if your looking to hang your life on on a sight Eotech is the way to go for peace of mind
It also looks cooler, and that is literally more important than anything

My Eotech 553 su231 reticle was not daylight bright.I sent it to Eotech and two weeks later it came back.Its like brand new,the reticle is like a fireball definitely day light bright now.
