    *CORRECTION*
    The Epiphone Les Paul Custom DOES NOT have a Maple Cap… it is Mahogany!
    I misread the specs, as did the worker that I rented the guitar from.
    Here is where I mis-read the specs from: www.long-mcquade.com/176432/G...
    I thought this meant that the Ebony had a regular Maple Cap. The sales clerk
    Told me it was the same as a Gibson Custom as it was Mahogany with a Maple Cap, Binding all over the place, and a Mahogany Neck with an Ebony Fretboard.

    Great video. I have a 76 standard LP.. Went to GC and played a new in box, the Silver burst custom. Within 10 seconds, I was sold. Back in the 80s I had a Gibson Sliver Burst Custom, was sooo heavy I could not use it for gigs.. Regret selling it. That's why I bought the Epiphone Sliver Burst Custom. She is AWESOME!!!!

    I think the new Epiphone Les Paul Customs are really good guitars. But the Epiphone Adam Jones and Jerry Cantrell Wino Customs are GREAT guitars.

      I thought the LPC played better than the Jones and Cantrell. I did swap out the bridge pickup for a Seymour Duncan SH5 custom. Game changer 🤘

    I had one in 07 that I eventually sold. I think of all the guitars Ive ever owned I miss the epi the most. Just something about it, I actually thinking of picking one up this weekend and this video sealed the deal on that.

    I have 2 Epiphone Les Paul Customs, Alpine White and Silverburst. Both are exceptional playing guitars and sound just like what we hear on your review. My 10+ pound Silverburst Gibson Les Paul Custom is still in a class of it's own however. The Epiphone LP Custom is worth every penny however. 🤘🎸

    I have a 1968 Les Paul Custom that I bought in the early 70s and it has been my one and only Gibson since then. Love it! I was interested to try the Epiphone Ebony Custom just for fun last year and felt immediately at home on it - really nice, solid instrument. I ended up buying the Cantrell Wino because (a) I don't need a replica of something I already own, and (b) because I really like the colour! (Feel free to laugh 😅). These last 3 or 4 years Epiphone have really upped the ante with their stuff. Their 1959 LP that has Gibson electronics is also well worth a look - chunkier neck etc. if you prefer the 50s style.

    Really happy with mine. The post 2020 ones are very nice. I'm a relative novice player, and it cost me £600 as opposed to £5000, so...
    I agree 100% with your nitpicking. It has a thinner body, and the contour isn't as pronounced, D neck profile instead of a Gibson C etc. Still an amazing guitar for the price though. Great, honest review. All the best.

    Great Video Glad i found it ..i have the newer Epiphone les paul modern with same probucker 2-3's with coil splits.out of phase and stuff and had it sense february and i do absolutely love it..and I absolutely want and love the alpine white epiphone les paul custom and know they have the same pickup's but ? with the cts pots and wiring and looks set aside do you think the custom will outshine my modern and lets consider the 2lb weight difference also mine at 7lb 14oz and most epi customs betweem 9lb -10 and mine has modern weight relief also...Id really appreciate your opion..because i appreciate both review video's you've done...Most current i could find Thanks

      You should notice a difference in the weight. You will feel more low end on the Modern (as in your body will feel it a bit more) and you will feel the Mid/High more on the Custom. That’s generally how weight relief works, so it’s not surprising. I find that it more pleasing to play leads on Non-Weight relieved guitars… but that’s just a personal preference. Cheers -Ryan

    Your video was nicely done.
    I totally agree with all of your "nit pick" comments. The Epiphone top carves are indeed much shallower than the Gibson version (across the board). That makes no difference whatsoever to me. It is an Epiphone version of Gibson, not an exact copy. The neck profile is indeed a very slim 60's in comparison to the Gibson profile, you are bang on. IMO, CTS like any other company will make components to what ever spec you want. These stock Epiphone CTS pots IME are not the same as Gibson/CTS pots in terms of taper and quality. Your experience with them matches mine. The quality is still hit and miss. Notwithstanding, IME of playing a few, (and I actually ended up buying one) the Epiphone LP Custom is a very good guitar - and Epiphone has REALLY done well with the design and build of their Pro Bucker pickups. I will not be changing them out.

    Hello! At 11:28 you talk about/demo how the neck pick up does not fulling go silent when turning down its volume knob. Is this normal for customs?

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  4 місяці тому

      It would be an issue with the potentiometer itself. It could happen on others, but not likely. And it’s an easy fix to swap out pots. Cheers -Ryan

  • @therandom802
    @therandom802 3 місяці тому

    Yes it’s good. Decent build quality and pups. But like all instruments, it will sound better in the hands of someone who has mastered it. I love mine, but still prefer my C1 platinum because it’s lighter.

    You don’t sound Canadian! How are the hell are we supposed to gauge your shred cred?
    And what’s the difference between playing electric guitar and shredding? Hint: if you’ve got to stop and ponder that riddle, “thou hast condemned thyself out of thine own mouth.’
