I played 408 hours of this game and beat the main campaign unlocked every side quest in the entire game and I'm still working on both DLCs which are massive. The game is probably one of the biggest games I've ever seen in my life the map and game itself is just ginormous. Back then when I was playing this game I was a security officer and I would work 12 hours and then I would be off 4 days straight period on my 4 days off I would spend playing this game on and off. I've done every single exotic armor weapon in the game. I learned every hidden area every side quest I've seen jokes of characters literally jumping off cliffs thinking that they're going to survive only to see that they're going to die on impact. This game I have a lot of thoughts about this game but it's definitely not a game you can just give an arbitrary score to it's a game that you have to talk about and explain. I haven't really sunk my teeth. Into Assassin's Creed Valhalla but if it's anywhere near as long as this game. Oh boy
Agreed about the arbitrary scoring - I don't give scores these days for games - it's juts a number base don my own opinion lol - not really something to be relied upon!
Unless you get Valhalla for free or $5 don't bother. It's 10 steps back from even Origins. It's a slog and a chore, PC is heavy and slow (movement/climbing) and they took all the fun that odyssey has and replaced it with a worse story, stupid fight animations you can't turn off, dumbed down RPG elements; no armor/weapons builds, no skills (skill tree is a shitshow and is fake; as in it doesn't do anything measurable). Worst of the 3 RPGs. It's bloated, but worse that that there is almost nothing to do and even compared to Odyssey there is almost zero stealth since detection is completely broken.
@@SkinnyMuscles69 yes I played it I got every single area on the map. I beat the main campaign Origins wasn't very good though I didn't like it it wasn't my cup of tea. On top of that I know people who are Egyptian and they got really pissed when they were trying to push blacks as Egyptians. So as someone who loves history as well as I played through it there was just a lot of afrocentrism pushed in it and stuff that is just not accurate to history and it just seems like they were pandering and it was annoying plus the story was just a mess in my opinion. Just not a very good game Sorry
the main attraction for me to this game is the setting. I fell in love with ancient Greece a long time ago and having an RPG set in that world is a dream come true
Me too!in that time when the game was releasead i also fell in love with ancient greece!and now too!and when i can,i only play this game,is the best game for me!like no other!but stiil i would love a DLC in ancient Troy!so that we would Discover how the city of troy really was!
@@Khalid-pb2ft I liked Odyssey the best but when you play all 3 back to back I got a little burned out because are the games are so long and similar. I would play it for sure eventually.
I have played valhalla i love valhalla combat but its customization and open world are boring ,its easy to quit after few hours because nothing to do in valhalla . Can i enjoy odyssey for a long time ?
I mean, who doesn't want extensive hours of gameplay? I loved the fact that the game lasts a long time. More bang for your buck. I only really like to be invested in one open world/RPG at a time and this game keeps you hooked. One of my favorites of all time. And the fastest fighting of all Assassins Creed games. It's the best one of the series
@@deniskasperovich8251 The story in all Yakuza games are regarded as some of the best in any game ever created, so it’s down to personal opinions. The first hour or so of 0 is extremely boring though, I couldn’t do it the first time I tried because it’s so slow.
I’m one who don’t want games to last to long. I can often get either bored with the gameplay but want the story to finish. Or it is the problem of not having enough time. I much rather play a shorter game like God of War than AC Valhalla for example.
What a relatable, sensible, review. When researching this game as a prospective purchase, I ran into either sweeping praise from fans of the franchise, or negative reviews that seemed based on people hating Ubisoft as a company. You hit all the important points needed to make a decision, and I thank you.
I only picked up this game in 2022, with the last AC game I played being Black Flag. Yeah, it was that long ago. Picked it up on Game Pass and oh my goodness. I had just bought a Series S and I haven't even played ten hours of any other game. I boot up and jump straight back into Odyssey every time and I haven't even thought about being bored of it yet. As someone who plays exclusively single player, Ubisoft is quickly becoming my favourite game developer. So many games these days are an online multiplayer cash machine with a half baked campaign thrown on. Odyssey is so immersive, rich, entertaining and I love the ability tree (usually I find them overwhelming and annoying) and Ancient Greek mythology in general. It's in my top 3 games of all time and I still have TONS of story left after 100+ hours playing. Absolutely love it
same here if youve only played one or two other AC games, odyssey is great. if youve played em all i can understand feeling burnt out but its exactly what i want
I personally love this game. Here's a quick story back when I was in 8th grade (this was in 2005) we were reading the Odyssey and I remember thinking that I wish there was a game similar to that, where you would sail around a huge ocean fighting monsters and going on adventures. The closest thing I had at the time was the Wind Waker which was still great. But now AC Odyssey finally scratched that particular gaming itch that I've had for over 17 years...im over 100 hours in lol.
I have yo agree with you here I spent a shit ton of time on this game and have recently decided to finish the main campaign. But in a way I still haven't finished cause all the cultist ain't dead yet lol it's a fun game
Coming from titles like Kingdom Come Deliverance (750 hrs in) and Skyrim (900+), I'm not bothered at all by what others term as 'grind'. I almost didn't give this game a chance what with all the negative press about 'bloat' etc. Hell, I call spending hundreds of hours exploring every nook and cranny 'getting your money's worth'. Totally enjoying it so far. Great review.
I played it recently for the first time, and it is so worth it. Even the worst part, the levelling, is kind of fun because every side quest is unique and interesting.
Recently wrapping it up, since I skipped it when it released. Probably my favorite of the series. Best feeling of a living open world. People seem to go about their day and have conversations. Vultures circle & eat dead bodies. NPCs grab weapons from weapons racks....they don't just poof out of thin air. At night the people go home and all the lanterns turn on. Amazing water. You shake it off when you exit. Loads of details. As interesting and huge as Elden Ring's open world was, it had zero logic to its design. Just "stuff" plopped down to look cool and create zones. But nothing really made any sense at all. Greece seemed real...for a game.
yeah, this game feels like breath of the wild but ran through an upscaler. so much more alive somehow even than BOTW and its so so so damn fun to explore, and the combat is insanely satisfying to boot
This game is awesome. You will see die-hard AC fans hate this game because it barely ties with the main story, but as a person that has played every AC game, Odyssey is definitely worth it.
I still love Odyssey with 1200 hours in the game. You make the key point: It won't feel bloated if you like the basic gameplay, which I do. You didn't mention the DLCs, however. The first one is ok but forgettable. The Atlantis DLC, however, is truly a work of art. Don't deprive yourself of the chance to experience these maps by moving on before you get there. Yes, you have to pay for them. Suck it up and do it. Completely worth it. The first moment when you set foot in Elysium, I guarantee it'll blow you away. Hell is just as good, and Atlantis is.... I don't know, I've played it four times and I still love it.
Criticism is only from older people that want AC to “go back to being AC”, when none of them decided to play the games, they say the knew AC games don’t have anything to do with Assassins creed when Origins is the start of the AC Brotherhood and Odyssey is the start of the Templars and about the pieces of Eden, anybody who played the games would know this.
Odyssey is fun af, exploring the ancient cities & the Atlantis DLC is next level conspiracy theory fun.. i wish they’d do more DLC based on ancient legends
I recently finished the Witcher 3 and was looking for another massive game to play. After playing a few other games, like FarCry 3, 4, 5 etc are really enjoting those, , I came across this and so far are loving it, a lot of good game play mechanics, great graphics and so much attention to detail everywhere. In regards to those who just wish to 'race through', those people need to learn that games from AS odyssey, to thief, to wildlands or any games that require stealth are not suitable for racing through.
This is one of my favorite games I ever played ,the main story was unpredictable and full of surprises ,side quests had their moment and the dlcs were straight up epic .Personally I feel like this game is just way better than the Witcher 3.I wanda if am the only one who feels this way
I agree. Odyssey is better than Witcher, better than Red Dead 2, and better than any other AC game. I couldnt get into Red Dead 2, the gameplay was too clunky, same with AC Valhalla, beautiful game, but inferior gameplay mechanics. Odyssey has that smoothness that Red Dead 1 had. I tried playing Origins, and got bored FAST with all the sand.
Im still playing Odyssey in 2022😁 Its BY FAR the best AC game, and one of the greatest games of all time, PERIOD. Not only is the gameplay smooth and fun, but the scenery is 2nd to none. Running around in ancient Greece in all of its colorful glory is half the fun of the game. I have very few complaints about Odyssey. One big one is the those bombs the other mercs toss at you, doesnt seem fair for them to have any weaponry we have no access to. I mean, our character is a merc too, we should be able to have those little bombs. I dont care about not carrying a shield, in fact im glad i dont have to carry one, i dont want my merc looking like a ninja turtle. I feel sorry for the haters who are blind to the brilliance of this game. Odyssey is BOSS.
Man, I'm loving your reviews. No unnecessary hate for not being AC II, very honest and detailed. I've got it from $25 (US dollars) with all the DLC, but I'm planning on replaying Unity, Syndicate and Origins first. I'm the type of player that normally does a lot of the side content first, so I think I won't have any problem with the level barrier stuff. A great review!
Just bought this and loaded it onto a PS5, it's looks incredible! Having just played Unity, this is a revelation. Hard to believe this wasn't made for the PS5.
I also skipped this game for all these years, shame because it's a masterpiece IMO. The only reason I tried it was because I decided to get ACV and loved it. I know mixed reviews but I loved it, beat it and DLC's . Then it was on to odyssey for me. I will be playing origins next.
Great review! I'm playing this right now and I'm having SUCH a good time. I just beat the Eye of Kosmos branch and somehow my friend finished the story in a week.
Yes. Absolutely. Even though it’s not really an assassin’s creed game, I still like it. It’s an excellent open world rpg with plenty to do. The main plot isn’t great but the dlc is amazing in comparison
I just bought this game after many years of reluctance due to all the hate online. I have learnt to not listen to everything out there now. I am really enjoying this game so far and I have pretty much just begun - only level 21. I played Origin's until I pretty much completed ALL main and side and expansion quests. Alexios is no Bayek but this game is fun and I cannot wait to put in many many many hours into this story.
I never liked Assassin's Creed until Odyssey. My favorite RPG ever. Only things missing is being able to have your own Island to build a town, a fort, your own farms and being able to send all your recruited npc that you don't use on your ship.
I wasn’t happy about odyssey when it first came out. I played and finished it but it didn’t feel like assassins creed. Returning to it now, what an incredible game. Bloated for sure, but so much fun and so ambitious!
My fav AC by far. The only thing that I don't really like is that world should change, I mean, they are always building something in the Cities that is never concluded (wall, temples, statues). The village is always on fire, never rebuilt, the temple in campaing that was burning still burning after hundred of hours of gameplay. A dynamic world would be very interesting for those like me who had hundred of hours on the game. Besides that I still find historical places, still find orichalcum randomly and I have almost 800+ hours in the game.
I loved Far Cry 4 and 5 and I was a Witcher fanatic pouring over 1,500 hours into it so when Odyssey came out I had to get it. The only Assassin's Creed game I've played is Black Flag and it was fun and beautiful for back then but I did not finish the game so I'm not an Assassin's Creed fanatic by any means. So I went into Odyssey looking for an open world adventure like The Witcher and I can say now in 2023 that it is right there with it. It is the most beautiful game I've ever played and the story and characters are amazing. The world itself is beyond words. I play at 3440x1440 ultrawide and it is not a well optimized game so I had to tweak the settings and lock my framerate at 70 to get the smoothest performance but then I heard about Reshade and gave it a try and it just took the graphics to a whole different level. It made the game much smoother and sharper and really improved the draw distance. Now I can see clear reflections off a soldiers armor from super far distances and trees and shadows are sharp and amazing. I'm doing another playthrough as Alexios after playing Valhalla and losing interest about half way through. It was not even close to Odyssey imo. I'm thinking about taking a trip to Greece just to see all the historic sites and beautiful beaches and mountains. Although many of the names of islands have changed, it's all still there and amazing. I would love to stand right were I stood in the game on top of Mt. Taygetos and look out across the islands. In the pictures on Google it looks almost exactly the same. So other than a few corny lines in the writing, the game is as good as any I've played and is without a doubt the most beautiful.
That was a spot on review. Personally, this is one of my favorite games of all time. Like you said, it’s great for patient players. I love a game with tons of content because I don’t buy games often.
Idk how many times I beat this game and all 3 dlc’s. I’m literally a demigod in the open Greek world. I always did like Greek mythology more than other pantheons and I’m a sucker for open world games so this game really interested me.
AC Odyssey is amazing, I got it and both dlc a couple days ago and I'm pretty sure I'm still not even close to being done cause there's actually sm to do and I love that
I have 160 hours in Valhalla and I know I finished all of Odyssey (base game) but I want to do it again. I last played it in 2018 so it’s gonna be refreshing to restart. A lot of people though hate this one from what I heard, but Greek mythology is very enticing to get into especially the cosmetic looks for this game. At least in my opinion. As messed up as Rome was with raising there sons though on a side note and that also being mentioned when he/she interacts with the conflict is pretty interesting for a side detail to show that a 12 year old is a man in those times for Roman’s 😂
The level restrictions can be almost completely mitigated if you know what you're doing. Most towns and every city have these bounty boards, or what they're called. Whenever you start a new play session, fasttravel to 3-4 locations and accept all the *contracts* (not bounties) they offer. That way, you'll get HUGE amounts of exp simply by playing the game. The contracts can be things like loot 3 nation chests, kill x Athenians or Spartans, sink x ships of a certain type, etc. And don't pick side, you can (and will) kill targets of both factions. You *can* do bounties if you like, but these will send you to specific targets, and if that's close nearby, it's useful to do one or two every now and then, but that's compltely optional, and won't give the best exp. Also, whenever you've complete a couple of contracts, I recommend repeat fasttravelling to a few locations since there will be new ones of the same type availabe somewhere, so it's not just a "once per session" thingy.
As a new PS5 owner and PS Plus Extra member, I really appreciate this video. The reason is because I had never played an Assassin's Creed game before ever, and a ton of them were in the Catalog. So, the logical choice of #1 game to try first was to watch a bunch of UA-cam videos to see which one might be the most appropriate for me to start with. After writing down all the entries in the "Best Of" lists, I settled on Assassin's Creed: Origins. It was very near the top of all the lists and because it was the furthest back in the timeline (ancient Egypt), it seemed like the logical choice. Holy crap, what a great game!! I am 60 hours into it already and have never been bored at all. Taking my time and getting my character stronger to make missions easier to complete has been a huge relief to me, as I suck at gaming and tend to get stuck on missions that must be passed to progress.. I simultaneously downloaded Black Flag, which I intend to play next. Your video made it pretty clear to me that Odyssey may be just the right "next game" in the series to play, as I have no qualms with sinking ridiculous hours into a game as long as I can reach a point where time spent can mean I pass a mission, as opposed to not being able to progress in the game at all and having to give up trying to finish it. So, THANK YOU :) Your breakdown was extremely helpful :)
I picked up the game and all addons for 30 bucks. A steal (also did the same for Origins, and got Valhalla complete edition for 40 bucks). Fairly cheap for all 3 of them
I played this game a lot, and I mean a lot and I have to disagree about the grind. Every city has a message board, on those message boards there are quests that you can pick up and you'll find yourself doing those quest just by playing the game. There are quests like kill 10 athenian archers, sink 5 pirate/athenian/spartan ships and stuff like that and those quests award tons of xp so you can mostly ignore side quests except a few and just focus on the main quest but be sure to pick up those quests on message boards.
I haven’t played an AC title since Black Flag/Rogue. Just bought the Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla trilogy on PSN for $40. I am very happy the franchise revamped the combat mechanics and it now actually feels like a RPG. well done Ubisoft. (Never thought I’d say that)
I get why the 'die hard' assassins creed fans didn't like it, hell it's probably the same ones that dissed origins, but I loved odyssey, as an open world rpg set in ancient Greece, its awesome, great combat system, good engaging story and also some engaging side quest lines, huge open world, and interesting mythology
Odyssey is without question the best, most entertaining & immersive game I've ever played. The naval combat truly takes this game to the highest level of "fun factor" I've experienced. The combat, weapons & armor perk modification we can do is top shelf. As for the exploratory beauty of the game, it is quite obvious how much love & soul the game creators put into this game. I give this game a 9.5 all around score.
I played close to 100 hours on the base game, doing most of the stuff, and it was amazing throughout. People often complain about the progression and scaling, but as I usually like to do side contents on this type of game, that barrier never got into me until the credits rolled.
I love stories of ancient greece and the pantheon, I always wanted a game like this but somehow the roadblocks and grind got me stopped playing for a year, so it's saying something. I only finished the main quest recently and haven't seen myself stop playing it anytime soon.
I have read quite a few negative comments because the protagonist doesn't have a hidden blade .... big fricking deal. Every gamer who ignores this game just for this reason is losing the opportunity to get introduced to probably one of the best games ever created. Story is awesome....all DLCs are also super good and they make the whole game really huge. I love the truck loads of different armor and fighting abilities. One fantastic idea of assigning a function to a weapon or armor can make you very strong and if you study it and wisely choose the right engraving you can make yourself invincible and very powerful. Fighting on the sea is also very good and the behaving of the sea is most realistic I have ever seen. Graphic is gorgeous .... even historians are impressed with accuracy and details of the ancient Greece. The only thing in the whole game which disappointed me was Medusa....she was done well except her lower part. I wanted to see a tail instead of legs. I have most of the assassin creed games at home.... this one I played most ...5 times.
Just about finished all of Origins, and about to start Odyssey, great video and review...I love Origins, did all the main, side, scrolls quests and looking forward to doing the same with Odyssey, and then Valhalla!
I recently stared playing it. The last ac game I ever played was Unity, so I didn't know if I was going to enjoy this new rpg ac. I got to say, its a pleasant surprise. The main story is particularly interesting, and I'm only at the beginning of it. The world is huge and looks great, but due to its size it can feel empty time to time. Gameplay is all right, not amazing but ok enaught. The ship battles are back, which are a welcome feature to break up the "land gameplay" I would recommend picking it up, especially if you like history, cuz this game has a ton of historical figures you will meet along the way. Pretty honest review, well done mate!
I did the same from unity to odyssey. I would 100% agree with you. A huge game but very repetitive and annoying at times. Big,bold, sometimes but not always, boring.
I honestly couldnt find many things to hate about this game. Its not only the best AC game, BY FAR, I would even say its one of the greatest video games of all time, PERIOD. It is a masterpiece with few flaws. I mean, how can you top running around ancient Greece as a spartan style warrior?? And Kassandra is the most interesting and fun character to play. One flaw is a common one in most video games, the lack of responsiveness when blocking. It gets frustrating when you press the block button, and time it right and everything, but still get smashed by the enemy. But as with other games, I just compensate by dodging or just going in all guns blazing and screw defense. Of all the AC games, Odyssey is the one I keep going back to, keep spending months and countless hours enjoying. I wish they would make another pirate era based AC game, and have it be more like Odyssey.
This and black flag are my favorite creeds. There is so much to see and do in odyssey. It's definitely not for people who want to rush through a game. Its absolutely massive.
I finished this game few days ago and that's a good game but only if you play main story and necessary side quests. This game is insanely long and you have to grind a lot to level up. After finishing the half game, I got so tired of it that I used cheat Engine to level up and then played only main story missions. And surprisingly, game became fun.
It's the best game of the Layla Hassan trilogy. But it is massive. It took me 135 hours and over 6 months ( Yes, I have a job and a family) to finish everything.
This is my first assassin creed game . I haven’t played since prince of Persia was released. They changed to assassins creed . But I love odyssey! Not much to compare to so for me it’s an awesome game !
Finally a review which makes sense, I have only seen reviews full of hatred for this game , no idea why, seriously some reviewers are dumb and have a personal hatred on this game, I like this game for whatever it is, and I loved it, infact it is one of the best game I ever played, excellent graphics, world is so much detailed , greenry and plantation is very good, and I like all the elements of ancient greek myths. This game just nails everything perfectly. I haven't seen a better game than this, yes I played origins and valhalla, they suck in front of this. It is perfectly balanced.
I wish this wasn't an AC game, I don't care that some person is controlling the main character on some device. I just want to be a Greek warrior kicking ass without all that baggage from the AC series. It's just that good and not necessary. Epic game.
The complaint about gated progression in an open world game always felt weird to me. It's an open world game; do you expect to just march to the final boss in an hour? Imagine if Skyrim locked the main quest behind level requirements...half the player base would never even know because they never touched the main story to begin with. And on the flip side, side content is often locked away behind level/progression requirements, but nobody ever complains about losing their agency in those cases.
I got this at release, having not played an AC game since Revelations, and couldn't get into it for whatever reason. Picked it up again for £8 before Xmas (cheers ebay!) and this time it clicked, and I've sunk over 150hours, and am 2x trophies short of the platinum. It's an enjoyable rpg, and has some great gameplay elements. However, for me a lot of the main quests, and majority of the side ones are just fetch quests, with little variation. The missions where you can explore caves, tombs and forts are enjoyable, but most boil down to the same mission type. It feels odd to complain about a game being too big, but I personally feel the large map/world stretches out the gameplay & missions too thinly. Yes the world is pretty to look at, but at the same time a LOT of the islands either look the same or have the same layout. I would have rathered a little more variation and some better structured missions. That said, it's dirt cheap and if you're looking for value this is right up there 👍
The problem with this game is that it’s an Odyssey itself. The longest single player of all time, a masterpiece with flaws. It’s really 3 massive games in one. Take everything in the store and offer it for free, reduce mercenary difficulty or numbers and allow for easier main campaign walkthrough and I think it’s one of the best games of all time. Also reduce the number of Cultists slightly. Ubisoft Quebec came so close to perfection here but made a few silly design choices. These choices would have destroyed any other game but it still managed to receive 9s or 10s. If they had fixed those or even talked to me for 5 minutes and taken notes, all that would have been solved. I’m originally Greek and I’m in debt to Ubisoft for recreating this semi-historical epic that is an ode to Greek mythology and Greece’s natural beauty. Assassin’s Creed has made me pause in many games and simply marvel at the beauty of the places they created from Venice andTuscany, Constantinople, Paris, Victorian London. Origins made me stop and just look around me in awe. Odyssey took my breath away at moments.
Just saying, you can buy dlc items from the shop at the special store using that blue currency, and like a month ago they added a free DLC (it’s massive) and it includes a bunch of new free items, and items from the store that you can find.
Thanks for the video. I completely agree with everything you said. It's a phenominal game, huge, beautiful, moving and educational. Ubisoft have really worked it to make it the most subversive game I've ever played My gripes are that perhaps they made it too large. The three main story arcs don't sit well together. There's science fiction, supernatural and mythological. No spoilers but finishing one ahead of another didn't make logical sense and you're not prompted to do them in any order. Then, one of them encourages you to buy a DLC to finish it which I find unacceptable. The only parts I found tedious were sailing across the map by ship when there wasn't a quick travel option. However the realism of rolling waves was incredible. You see whales, dolphins and sharks, all doing their thing as you sail along and if you dive down you are in another world. Along the coastline the breakers are jaw droppingly real. The quality of cgi surpases all games, even the Horison Dawn series. Overall though it is magnificent and for me took many months as it is so addictive. I just wanted a conclusion with end titles like normal games.
I just started playing this last month during the free weekend and logged over 30 hours of gameplay in just 4 days because I loved it so much! I was put off buying it because of it being an AC game which is a gaming franchise I have been avoiding since it first landed because I hate games that have ridiculous forced climbing and jumping. I am so glad this is more like a traditional RPG because I have always wanted an RPG based around Ancient Greece as it is my favourite period of history and I studied Herodotus at school so am familiar with the Peloponnesian War, although I prefer the earlier Persian Wars period. The only thing I don't like about this game, apart from the pointless inclusion of a playable female warrior that is utterly misplaced and purely SJW service, is the lack of a useable shield when everyone else around you has one otherwise this is the game I have be waiting for! I never thought that one of my all time favourite games would be an AC game!
@@morningstar6506 The reason why you like it, is the reason I hate it. If you are not an ac fan, then this game is enjoyable. But, it pisses me off why they would make a game with Assassin's Creed in the name that takes place before the origins of the Creed. I don't like that I'm also forced to do side quest(a thing that was created for more OPTIONAL content). It's really not a side quest anymore. And facial animations are bad. As a game 8.5/10, as a ac game 2/10.
@@howtheturntables1600 If it hadn't had the AC name in it I would have bought it ages ago! I think they need to start a new franchise that is totally separate to AC even if they still used the Apertus technology.
I'm pretty sure the game was made with only the female character playable, the playable male character is actually incel service, not SJW service, quite the opposite of what you said actually.
I've spend a huge amount of time on this game. At some point, when you 're getting used to the gameplay, it does get repetitive and boring. But nonetheless i enjoyed playing it. One major error occured while I killed a cultist (Melite) and he got stuck in a f-ing wall. So now i cant finish him and therefore i can't achieve all 22 fragments of the Leonardus. I cant reload a previous savegame, because I continued playin hoping the cultist would respawn again. But he didn't.
I was kinda up in the air on this one. But everything I didn't like disappeared after installing the Fate of Atlantis DLC. It was worth going through the game to play tha t awesome added content.
I’ve been playing these games since 1 being my favourite. I’ve also completed and replayed the Ezio trilogy and the colonial ones. I got tired of continuing after syndicate which is a good game but then years later I came across ac odyssey and to be honest it is a good game just not the rpg element, thousands of side missions and one’s to do in order to enter a main quest, npc look HIDEOUS and stupid and finally the loading times are unacceptable.
Thank you for watching guys. I'm really enjoying going back over older games to take a first look (game suggestions welcome - just bear in mind the vids take a while to put together!) There are a couple of links below for pricing on the game - worth checking the prices on each of these sites if you plan on picking it up..

Playing this for the first time this weekend. OMG it's so good!
Let me ask, did you play Origins? If not, you would LOVE origins. It’s MY favorite.
@@inthedark334 you are completely entitled to your opinion, no worries haha.
the main attraction for me to this game is the setting. I fell in love with ancient Greece a long time ago and having an RPG set in that world is a dream come true
I agree
Me too!in that time when the game was releasead i also fell in love with ancient greece!and now too!and when i can,i only play this game,is the best game for me!like no other!but stiil i would love a DLC in ancient Troy!so that we would Discover how the city of troy really was!
I just finished Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla. Odyssey is by far the best one.
I know I’m late but I just finished Valhalla and Origins, is Odyssey really worth my time?
@@Khalid-pb2ft I liked Odyssey the best but when you play all 3 back to back I got a little burned out because are the games are so long and similar. I would play it for sure eventually.
I have played valhalla i love valhalla combat but its customization and open world are boring ,its easy to quit after few hours because nothing to do in valhalla . Can i enjoy odyssey for a long time ?
@@lmaoquan9534 I agree at some points but I’ve spent almost 200 hours in Valhalla👀, I want more gameplay so I bought Odyssey yesterday
@@Khalid-pb2ft im watching this vid because im going to buy it but maybe i'll to see what will the next AC looks like
I mean, who doesn't want extensive hours of gameplay? I loved the fact that the game lasts a long time. More bang for your buck. I only really like to be invested in one open world/RPG at a time and this game keeps you hooked. One of my favorites of all time. And the fastest fighting of all Assassins Creed games. It's the best one of the series
You should try the Yakuza series, then
@@hemangchauhan2864 those are extremely boring
@@deniskasperovich8251 The story in all Yakuza games are regarded as some of the best in any game ever created, so it’s down to personal opinions. The first hour or so of 0 is extremely boring though, I couldn’t do it the first time I tried because it’s so slow.
@@deniskasperovich8251 yah, stick to cod lid
I’m one who don’t want games to last to long. I can often get either bored with the gameplay but want the story to finish. Or it is the problem of not having enough time. I much rather play a shorter game like God of War than AC Valhalla for example.
It’s definitely worth playing. The frame rate bump helped this game enormously
What frame rate bump?
@@silicijevadolina im guessing next gen
@@silicijevadolina or "current gen"
Got to be next gen. I'm still getting freezing on regular ps4 slim.
Awesome on SX
They stole your idea. Sue them.
@@DrewPeacock691 haha
Played odyssey 2500 hours
Played odyssey 2500 hours
You payed and played the dlcs in Origin ? Never did and didn't missed anything but this ... Who knows. I may have to find them cheep.
Even with all the criticism of the game I absolutely adored this game & played well over 100 hours of game play.
Just 100? I’m at 500 hours bish
This is one of my favorite games I ever played ,the main story was unpredictable and full of surprises ,side quests had their moment and the dlcs were straight up epic .Personally I feel like this game is just way better than the Witcher 3.I wanda if am the only one who feels this way
This game is not fucking with the witchers 3 world or lore. I like this game but youre tripping.
@@pastqr ratio
@@VENENOSEASON Ye I personally couldn't get into witcher 3.
@@steverobertson1729 what a madlad
Hope you are having fun, I just came back to play it again lol. I have a total of 402 hours so far on this game 😅
@@diazce95 just started and the games great
It's the best AC out. I'm still playing it today and it's beautiful
For me this is the best Assasins creed game ever. My favorite of them all.. I can play this game at any given time.
If you 100% this game you are truly gifted,Cause the list of stuff to do is Neverending.
Yes.
I loved AC Odyssey personally. I have sunk hundreds of hours into the game. Probably my favorite AC game personally.
So glad I got this during the holiday psn sale. Been at it for days. Hunting pirates is the best!
@GuyInCLE Oh most definitely 💯
What Reshade mods do you use?
yes it is.
assassins creed odyssey is fun, entertaining, challenging, fluid combat, not boring.
Also, whenever you've complete a couple of contracts, I recommend repeat fasttravelling to a few locations since there will be new ones of the same type availabe somewhere, so it's not just a "once per session" thingy.
by far..as a personal choice , this is the best game i have ever come across with...am still into the game as i am writing
I've only played through once and playing through it again with new games plus, it'd amazing. The graphics are stunning and the gameplay Is amazing
The combat looks very impressive. Combine that with hunting elements provided by assassins creed games and it seems like a worthwhile experience.
I picked up the game and all addons for 30 bucks. A steal (also did the same for Origins, and got Valhalla complete edition for 40 bucks). Fairly cheap for all 3 of them
I'm playing it on my Xbox series X! And I LOVE this game
Watched 3/4 of the video and You sold me bro.. thank you
I played this game a lot, and I mean a lot and I have to disagree about the grind.
(Never thought I’d say that)
Played ODYSSEY 3000h😂😂😂...
I ignored the game until just yesterday..... What was I thinking I was surprisingly impressed
I've been playing AC Valhalla and just found the spear of Leonidas I didn't even know this game exist. Glad I know now cuz I'm buying it
Played it for the first time in July and got that platinum: it’s absolutely worth it
I get why the 'die hard' assassins creed fans didn't like it, hell it's probably the same ones that dissed origins, but I loved odyssey, as an open world rpg set in ancient Greece, its awesome, great combat system, good engaging story and also some engaging side quest lines, huge open world, and interesting mythology
One of my favourite games of all time, played this for 500 hrs, good times
Almost finished the whole game , definitely worth it . Ps5 graphic update 🔥
The ship battles are back, which are a welcome feature to break up the "land gameplay"
I would recommend picking it up, especially if you like history, cuz this game has a ton of historical figures you will meet along the way.
Played ODYSSEY 3000h...😂😂😂
The mercenary system is something that would really benefit with a Nemisis System. Damn that patent.
After ~260 hours in AC:V I thought I'd seek an opinion on its predecessor great video 🙏
Love this game, there's always something to do, not just "clear this map and GTFO".
This and black flag are my favorite creeds. There is so much to see and do in odyssey. It's definitely not for people who want to rush through a game. Its absolutely massive.
Played ODYSSEY 3000h😂😂😂...
I’ve got 2,207 hours played with this game!
played ODYSSEY 3000 hours...best ever made...
I finished this game few days ago and that's a good game but only if you play main story and necessary side quests. This game is insanely long and you have to grind a lot to level up. After finishing the half game, I got so tired of it that I used cheat Engine to level up and then played only main story missions. And surprisingly, game became fun.
Just finished Mirage. Keen to give this game another jam ❤
Great review, as a Greek considering this to be my first pc game since...2004 (?) σ'ευχαριστώ πολύ. :)
It's the best game of the Layla Hassan trilogy. But it is massive. It took me 135 hours and over 6 months ( Yes, I have a job and a family) to finish everything.
I have never experienced any kind of a bug in my last 3 years of playing ACO
This is my first assassin creed game . I haven’t played since prince of Persia was released. They changed to assassins creed . But I love odyssey! Not much to compare to so for me it’s an awesome game !
I love the mercenary/Bounty hunter system it’s almost like 5 stars in gta😂
My first AC game is Valhalla and I’ve been thinking about maybe odyssey
My introduction to the series and loved it! Now playing Unity and have Black Flag and III in my backlog.
I love ancient greece, I did not play AC seriosuly anymore after Assasins creed Black Flag, might pick it up again.
I enjoy it much more now than when it launched
Im currently playing assisins creed odyssey, its similar to origins, just in Greece. Im enjoying it
I wish this wasn't an AC game, I don't care that some person is controlling the main character on some device. I just want to be a Greek warrior kicking ass without all that baggage from the AC series. It's just that good and not necessary. Epic game.
epic games until august 3 2023 is like 25 usd for the ultimate edition including a digital copy of assassins creed 3 remastered
I don’t care who don’t agree with me aco is the best one to me out of them all even the new one mirage
i 100% agree, odyssey is so good, the main story is kinda meh but the good side quests and the amazing locations make up for it
The complaint about gated progression in an open world game always felt weird to me.
That said, it's dirt cheap and if you're looking for value this is right up there 👍
Origins was ok, Valhalla was bad and odyssey was magnificent
Put in on easy
Thanks for the video. I completely agree with everything you said. It's a phenominal game, huge, beautiful, moving and educational. Ubisoft have really worked it to make it the most subversive game I've ever played
My gripes are that perhaps they made it too large.
This is the only game that I spent 300 hours on. The world in Odyssey is extremely beautiful.
Played ODYSSEY 3000h...😂😂😂
@zicuvalentin2251 that's too much for me lol
Nice review! Thanks!
Played all 3 like this Odyssey is by far my favorite
I agree with most of what you said...except for the one part that just screams incel
I think they need to start a new franchise that is totally separate to AC even if they still used the Apertus technology.
yet somehow that pointless inclusion is mostly peoples favorite
I'm pretty sure the game was made with only the female character playable, the playable male character is actually incel service, not SJW service, quite the opposite of what you said actually.
Great review, thank you!
Odyssey is still my favorite game . I play it all the time . Is it a assassins creed game , no , but man it’s fun to play
I just finished Origins, I loved it because I love ancient Egypt, going to try this one aswell
Played ODYSSEY 3000h😂😂😂...
I'm just about done and I loved this game.
As someone whos read "The Odyssey" over 5 times and generally fascinated by greek mythology this game was a ton of fun.
I bought this game localy for $5. Best $5 ever spent. That game is massive!
Wow that sucks bro!! 😵💫💀
