So if i played through the side quest then i well not have problems with microtrunsacion ? Because in my opinion more gameplay more fun i don't care about story that much do you recommend buying it on ps4 because i only play offline
If you just ignore the "Assassin's Creed" part of this game, it's an excellent RPG with great variety imho. The XP grind and level gating are kinda badly implemented though, I agree.
@@turtleborg Just because you can do "assassin" damage that wont make it a good Assassins creed game. It breaks the lroe and misunderstand everythign what is assassins creed.
@@gamermagazin3116 yea but the assassin's games were kinda just becoming the same thing over and over maybe if they made the assassination mechanic more varied than just shanking them
Enjoyed it from an Role-playing standpoint. Black Flag was my entry point to the series so I don’t complain about the Naval Gameplay like the early fans do.
@Susan Wojcicki Bolshevik from Poland the game would be a shit ton better without the needless grinding for RPG levels they put in it and it’s even worse in Valhalla
I started with AC1 and did a little AC2 and 3. My next AC game was Origins, started last week. I absolutely LOVE this game. The naval part is great! I noticed the gameplay changed somewhat but the overall feel is still AC. I would like to play Black Flag, Odyssey and/or Valhalla after this. Any tips?
@@rikveldhuis7368 AC2, brotherhood, and revelations were the pinnacle trilogy with ezio but AC black flag and rogue are fantastic too. The only ones I have issue with are origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. They just dont feel like AC games. They are all great games but they don’t have the feel of the series
Odyssey is my favorite AC title since Brotherhood, in terms of just being an enjoyable game overall. I think if it didn't have "Assassin's Creed" in its name, it would have probably would have been better received because it does not feel like one of the Altair/Ezio AC games. I really like the build and gear diversity in this game as compared to Valhalla.
I had never been interested in the AC games until I saw Odyssey offered. 1. Set in the Greek world as I love Greek mythology 2. It had strong RPG elements which I love in games. After playing through for the first few hours I fell on love with it more than I had originally expected. The story that starts from such a small personal tale to one of epic proportions. Love how Kassandra developed from a lowly misthios to one of legend. The world was bright and beautiful and the voice acting for Kassandra was top notch. I actually got teary at various moments especially when I finished the game and all its DLCs. I was disappointed with Valhalla and how it felt like a step backward (Developer or fan backlash I don't know). I'm playing through again (PC and PS4) approaching different choices and play style. If I could wipe my memory of a game and play it fresh again it would be this game.
I played the original AC games. I liked them but left after AC 3. Origins brought me back and I loved Odyssey. I'm probably a filthy casual too, but at least I'm having fun playing these games. 🤷🏾♀️
I preferred the combat in Odyssey to Valhalla. The special abilities were great, especially the Spartan kick; Valhalla's combat feels more generic. The skill tree in Odyssey is very well designed, while in Valhalla it's ridiculously large and all the better abilities are in a separate ability tree that you unlock with those books. The writing in Valhalla is better than in Odyssey though, it's more plot-driven, with fewer pointless side quests. Both are worth playing.
Agreed...but the most useless task and frustrating is chasing after those stupid tattoo designs in Valhalla. I finished everything in that game except those stupid designs.
I found Odyssey to be a grind but pretty enjoyable overall because it had its moments of absolute brilliance. The Silver Isles story arc is one of my favourite arcs in the game. I found Legacy of the First Blade kind of meh but the Fate of Atlantis DLC was pretty good overall (except Tartarus). I went back to it for the context of the crossover DLC for AC: Valhalla and I enjoyed my time with it. If the game had social stealth, a proto-hidden ones that you can make, and the hidden blade (Darius not making one for you in the Legacy of the First Blade is such a missed opportunity), the game would be considered to be a pretty good AC game as well.
That’s a really long game holy shut mate. As someone who just bought origins I like it a lot so far I’ve played black flag that’s my favourite but I want to get oddesey cuz of the beautiful landscape and the Ancient Greek setting but everyone says the gameplay is horrible and the story mode isn’t good and the game gets really repetitive and boring. Do u think it’s worth it?
@@jacobsullivan8603 Buy it, it's a great game, I played this game more than 100 times and that's just counting NG+. The gameplay is great, the story is very lighthaearted, not like Origins which is a bit more doom and gloom. The combat is great if you know how to build your character and if you need pointers, there is a guy on youtube that makes insane builds for this game.
@@norma8686 once you have the hidden blade it should work like you expect in AC games you shouldn’t have to build shit. That’s what the OG players have issues with on the newer games. If you want to play it like older AC games everything had to go into stealth tree from the beginning and only go there. It’s ridiculous when stealth doesn’t work like it did in the old games
@@Unknownusername1004 Stealth works great in this game but since it's an RPG you have to know how to do a good build and you could be a god, literally, I can one-shot mercenaries and even legendary beasts like the cyclops and medusa. The AC games have changed and it's good thing they did, without innovation they would've become stale. The franchise was almost dead after syndicate and Origins revived it.
I love Odyssey. I love Ancient Greek history and mythology. So this was a no brainer for me. Before it, I never played an AC game. Now I have played every AC game. So when people say "it's not really an AC game" I just have to laugh. lol I just don't understand how they took a good gear/loot system like Odyssey has and totally went in another direction with Valhalla. Valhalla's combat and gear/loot system were big steps backwards. But I had so much fun playing Odyssey regardless of what angry millennials say about it because it's not a cut and paste from a 13 year old game.
I never understood people who rush through the main story. I always play side stories because the devs put a lot of effort into creating the world, it’s a crime to ignore it. Imho
Also, you don't need to really level up your gear that often. From lvl 21 don't level your gear up until lvl 51. Depending on the build you want. The rss amount used to level up is the same at lvl 21 to 22 as it is lvl 21 to 51. So that's a no brainer. Your weapons just level every 5 to 10 levels to keep up with the dmg out put. Also, pay attention to engraving requirements. This is key to successfully becoming a demi God. This guy is pretty muching telling like 1/4 truths when it comes to combat and gear management. Sell all your gear. Best way for money is to play quests level up to at least 50-70 then you will see a massive uptick in money and material returns. Oh and make sure you complete the mercenaries bounty system. Unlocking teirs give bonus such as blacksmiths cut their price In half for upgrades so on and so forth. There is so much in this game he hasn't said. Trust me. This is well worth the fun. It's not really a grind either especially since grinding for money or rss is pointless till upper levels as I previously mentioned. Or soap box over. Cheer and have fun yall 🤘🤘
I agree. Very dumbed down review on the gear and weapons system, wealth accumulation and combat, which IMO is the best of the three RPGs. Anyone paying attention plays the game very similar to how you describe. The Merc system is Odyssey is the best of them and adds a lot of replay value. I don't get why people complain about them when they can just pay off the bounty if they don't want to be harassed; unless they missed the part where in some story missions it's part of the arc and you can't pay them off. More often than not I kept my wanted level at two or three to bring them to me for easy loot, XP and bonuses; if your build is decent, they should not be able to kill you. I've also made a game out of taking out higher lvl mercs; especially when hunting for the Greek Hero Set. IIRC my record was a 56 level spread. Side note: Valhalla actually feels like it's Origins predecessor in every way and IMO is the worst of the three. It has no fun factor and most things feel like a chore - even basic movement seems overly weighted.
I loved this game you can get so OP 100% crt chance 600% crt damage you hit for over 2mil a hit its insane....you dump legendary for purples with crt dam/crt chance and one shot everything.....
Finally started playing Odyssey in 2022. It is tied for my fav AC with Black Flag. Managed to get Origins & Odyssey on sale as a combo deal for like $25 on PS5 the other day.
MAN!! That "AC twin-pack" price drop was SSSO perfect 😩🙏🏾💯🔥🔥🔥 I'm currently wrapping up w/ Origins, and I'm to start Odyssey soon (after a bit of a break😅)
Kinda disliked Odyssey at first due to its grind, enemy health/combat, and length.....recently started playing New Game Plus and its actually a fun game. Once you have your abilities already unlocked, spear lvl 6, ship lvl to a legendary; its honestly a fun game. You don't have to grind as much. The most important aspect I feel like is having a Warrior and Assasin build in terms of your armor/weapons. The latter of which when done correctly, you can usually instant kill while in stealth. There are different slots you can unlock on the right hand side of the inventory page that allow you to have multiple loadouts. All in all, AC Odyssey is a great game the second time around! Would go as far as to say a better game than Valhalla in some aspects.
bought this game on sale a while ago and its been sitting in my backlog... needed something to play to fill the time before Horizon came out... and I'm loving it so far.... Horizon came in the mail the other day, but it's going to have to wait until I finish odysseys now
Odyssey is the most AC of all AC games. You get more information about the meta story in this game than in any other game in the series. Best AC game overall!
I found fighting higher level opponents/mercenaries a great challenge! I died many times but I also became much better at attacking using combos and dodging along with using arrows
About halfway into it now. Riding around on Pegasus, with a Lightning Bolt in my hand, Poseidon's Trident on my back, an Alpha Lion at my side, and a ship crewed by Sirens singing us across the ocean blue. This game makes me feel like a Demigod. I love Odyssey. Only complaint is there are too many fetch quests. Even main story quests frequently get split into 3 part missions to retrieve or assassinate 1 certain individual before proceeding with what I was doing. It has side mission criteria as primaries, that you are forced to do, which makes actual side missions incredibly monotonous. I'm excited to reach the DLC to further my Mythical Odyssey.
It’s actually one of my favorite assassin’s creed games and brings a new different element to the game gives people more of a choice if they want to sneak or come charging in
Got the game for free a while back and played for a good 2 hours. I was liking it but wanted to finish up some other games before getting into it. That was like 3 years ago and i never returned to it for whatever reason:/ You just inspired me to reinstall it.
I played it back when I had a three hour a day commute and it took me a little over a year to finish. I really liked the game overall, the combat, exploration and story. I must have taken 100’s of photos in photomode, the world is that good looking. My most memorable moment was the challenge of fighting off two bounty hunters at once. My main complaint was it was a bit of a grind, and while the world was beautiful, it was very empty. It was a lot of running through the wood from point A to B or sailing max speed to get to a specific island.
It took me 3 years to finish Odyssey, it was definitely a grind that put me off for a long time, but I had to come back just to finish where I left off in the story.
I really liked this game as a newcomer to the franchise. The second story didn't make sense but it was over good. I liked origins too. I didn't finish Valhalla I lost interest.
Being an old fan playing back when the first Assassins creed I didn’t like the way they started going when origins came out but I came around and I really enjoy origins and odyssey. I believe they do well as an assassin creed game just by allowing you to have more freedom. I just wish they kept the blending in crowds as a feature for escaping.
When I played the game I never needed to grind. I took my time exploring the world and quests. If I was under levelled for side quest I only needed to do 1 or 2 quests. I really liked it and spent about 160 hours. Some of the side quest stories are either interesting or usually funny. Plus Kassandra is so cool and charming and the supporting characters had their charm.
Since they dropped the narrative-ball with the Desmond storyline way back, I've lost all interest in the AC games and they went from being a day-one purchase to something I'll get a year later with all DLC included for 20-30 bucks IF I'm particularly interested in the time/place the game occurs in. That being said, a fan of ancient Greece both historical and mythical, Odyssey is a SPECTACULAR open-world mythical Greece RPG sim, helped in large part to how engaging, well animated and voiced Kassandra is. Disregard any AC storyline, lore or missions, that's almost pointless. Had so much fun playing this game, exploring, and frankly having my Kassandra just banging her way across the Aegean. The world is so big and packed full of stuff to do you don't need to spend any money on boosting. Played through it twice. And it's just gorgeous.
As someone who 100%'d the 3 AC RPGs (Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla) (All collectibles, All quests, etc) I will say, you should play them if you're into open world games. You will sink several hundred hours if you play them like I did. Very immersive RP experience if you like to get lost in a game world by yourself. If you have a lot of free time and every day you want to load up the game and think to yourself, for the next 10 hours I'd like to get lost in a world and accomplish quests and character growth, forget about life and end up looking at the clock at 4 am and panic because you should have went to sleep a few hours prior, and then you say you want to do that every day for 2 weeks, that's the kind of game these 3 can be. Odyssey and Valhalla alone I put in 200+ hours each, it was over 500 hours for the 3 games combined. Forget about them being in the Assassin's Creed series, think about them more along the lines of Witcher 3 or Horizon Zero Dawn, that's the best comparison I can give. Give these games a shot, honestly
My boyfriend and I are definitely a geeky gaming couple, as I look at all the gear in our home from MGS, Subnautica, etc. I'm also a HUGE nerd for Ancient Greece but I stumble a little with the complicated controls for combat in most games, so I'm happy to watch him play. He's never before been an AC fan and prefers strategy or turn-based games. However, Odyssey is something new, something different, and special. It makes us both happy and ticks all the right boxes. Kudos to ubisoft for making such a great crowd pleaser.
I first got into AC back when I had the PS3 - and I was an avid fan. However. I took a bit of an AC break, came back to it and I’m now playing odyssey. Omg. I love it. I think it needs to change over time or we start feeling that awful “didn’t I play this same game last time” feeling so I am totally down with the move to rpg. It also helps that their open world Ancient Greece is nuts: so gorgeous. I’ve taken hundreds of photos so far: many of just the gorgeous scenery. Oh and I love the humour in this game and the voice acting for the main characters is perfection.
I don’t understand why people don’t like this game. I know it is quite different from other ac games but the world and storyline are amazing. And the xp grind isn’t too bad as all the side quest seem to be quite fun and not just chores. Probably my favourite assassins creed game tbh
Been a huge fan of AC right from the original game through the Ezio trilogy and Black Flag. I’m currently playing Origins and loving it. I really like that Ubisoft have gone down the RPG route and the XP grind really isn’t a problem for me as I do enjoy the side quests. It gives me opportunity to explore the sumptuous open world and take my time. Really looking forward to Odyssey, especially with the character decision game mechanic.
Agreed. I only just started playing this game 2 weeks back and im enjoying it so far. Its not your typical AC game, thats for sure but its really fun nevertheless.
if the odyssey were just assassin it would be boring ... but it can be played as a warrior and hunter and that's why it's the best and it will stay for a long time
The biggest problem I had with Odyssey was the slow story progression. For each step in the main story, you have to do hours of side quests and then the payoff is not emotionally rewarding enough (best example is the part where we try to find our mother). The hole mercenary-system makes it even slower, because these idiots chase you everywhere, so you basically have to stop and kill them before you can enjoy the story or they are going to interrupt you.
I never found the mercenaries much of an issue once I saved up enough money. Then, if I was going to bad area, I would make sure I paid off my bounty first.
I literally embrace the mercenary bounties. I never ever paid my bounty, nor did I even think about doing it. If I saw a mercenary, I went after them. It got even more fun if there were more, because then I could put my skills to the test. Sure, the rewards weren't that great at times, but it was fun to just keep on fighting and managing them around, circulating between skills and weapons.
Desynching in a game about raiding villages was ridiculous - desynchronization when going out of bounds was also overly sensitive in Valhalla. So stupid. Odyssey and origins handles this so much better.
I love the way the story slow-drips your character's backstory. You start off as a low-level thug, which is a familiar and comfortable role for this kind of game. Then you discover you're descended from Spartan royalty, and have this shocking and tragic backstory. This gets you involved in the Peloponessian War and you get to do important things like turn the tide of battles. Then you find out that what destroyed your family and ruined your life was part of a vast conspiracy to control all of classical Greece. This leads into the revelation that you are, in effect, the Kwizatz Haderach. And THAT is before you find out how you are connected with the overall Assassin's Creed storyline of the Isu and the creation and fate of humanity. The way each layer is built upon the one before it makes the progressively more fantastical elements of the story feel grounded and relatable. It's master storytelling and character-building on a level you rarely witness in a game.
I'm playing ACO, at the moment, which is my first AC game since Syndicate. As each installment came out I played them for months and months. Some more than others, simply because you reach that point where, "thats it?'". While ACIII turned out to be my, far and away favourite, since Brotherhood; its still my favourite, but Odyssey is so close to that. - ACIII is already a big game, and then you add Liberty, and then Black Flag (this is all ACIII); Odyssey is all of that in one entry, layers and layers of stories. - and yet more is fine too. There are countless games based on polytheism and Greek myth. Few based on Greek history, which Odyssey is that. - I believe Ubisoft said that the way they designed the game; its not hard to expand the map. They should do that, as Thrace and particularly Illyria were important to the ancient Greek world. Whoms infkuence stretched well beyond their territorial borders. The mythical Greek history, was ancient, even by this period; and thats expressed in the game. So no demigods. Although some say otherwise; I say turn the difficulty up and, then talk. It was a brutal era. So where Ubisoft messed up by adding the 'hidden blades' in Origins' ancient Egypt 😆 (a silly move, but its a game). In Odyssey, piss the local population off and they'll dive in to help the guards ragdoll you ..so, not demigod afterall. 😉 Exploration is great in Odyssey as well, with plenty of Tombs, crypts and caves to explore. Obviously plenty of historical sites as well. - Here Ubisoft pulled ideas from Rise of the Tomb Raider; which also featured ancient Greek history, so there ya go. 👍 Anyway. Marvellous game whoms flaws are few. This is where the Creed and the Templars, truly begins. Its all about investigating the Isu and emerging beyond a brutal era, to "a fresh start" (in more ways than one). - You won't hate a moment of it.
After suffering from it being able to find a game after elden ring. Coming back to this on my series x with the 60fps and playing on nightmare I’ve been having a blast. I forgot how much fun and beautiful this game was.
I got so bored with the AC series after Brotherhood, but I really loved Odyssey. I put 200 hrs into a single playthrough, and I've had a fantastic time. I explored pretty much all I could, and had a ton of fun. I want more of that. Never spent a dine past the base cost, and I never got a single booster. The one place I had to grind through was levels 30-35, which was frustrating. But I still loved it overall
Just started a few days ago and absolutely love it. I hope AC makes a futuristic version next. Like cyberpunkish but the AC format. Itd be a cool switch up.
@@jonathanrowland9963 I love Watchdogs 2 and Legion but id like the style and size of Odyssey or Valhalla. Especially with their progression system of AC. Playing Watchdogs 2 now.
Great video, much appreciated; I shared it with 2 co-workers. Unrelated to that, I just want to mention that the word "brazier" is pronounced bray-zhur (rhymes with 'Frazier') rather than bruh-zeer (which is a bra, aka "brassiere"). Far from me being critical however, I salute you because this made 9:48 joyously hilarious.
If you have to hit the enemy 50 times, you're doing it wrong. With the right build you can make your enemies fall with one hit in this game. I played Odyssey more than 100 times in NG+, one hit of my sword and any enemy falls, only some mercenaries need 2 hits to finish them. I'm playing on hard. Odyssey has the best combat of any game (on par with GoW 2018 which also has great combat), you just need the right build and hours of fun are guaranteed. And you don't need to do side quests to level up. Every city has a message board, pick up all the quests that are not timed, you'll do them passivelly while playing and you get tons of drachmae and xp. Like I once had 2 quests that were both to destroy 3 spartan ships. Every ship counted double, once done I gained a level and a half. You don't need side quests to level up. You don't need to board every ship, you can just sink them without boarding, it's actually better because you get a lot of materials and it's quicker.
The pros: -The open world is enormous and well spread out with ravishing attention to detail. There’s content everywhere, making it worth the exploration. -The combat system, combined with the levels of customization. Skill paths aren’t confusing. -Each NPC is unique, and they make you feel appurtenant to Ancient Greece. -The depth in the story. -A lot of dialogue choices actually have meaning. -It’s a sandbox game allowing you to kill other NPCs. -The weather system -The ability to customize your ship, along with the options to recruit people. Cons: -There’s a lot of grinding. -The day/night cycle does drag on.
I don't agree with the grinding point, if you pick up those passive missions you find on missions board in every city, you'll do them passivelly while doing other missions and get a ton of xp and level up without needing to grind. I too don't like playing at night but you can change that. Hold the map button for a few seconds and it will turn the night into day or vice versa.
I'm actually happy with the rpg elements they did in origins. I feel as if the balance was nice. And tho you had to do side quests. There were always side quests that were related to your main quest or current target, so doing them wasn't a chore to me. They often also added to bayek as a character. I've recently started playing odyssey and so far i don't feel the same click. To me it feels as if the level gating is way harsher and the side quests just don't add that much to the plot or characterisation. Tho I'm about 10 hours in now so this might change later but i kinda doubt it. I've also played Valhalla for a bit and i think they also did it better there but then pulled it too far to the easy side In short. Origins had a nice balance and we'll structured side quest that made you more invested in the world and its characters (not all side quests)
You'll love this game if you treat it for what it really is..... An RPG. In terms of builds, transmogs, this is one of the most rich RPGs ever made. Pro Tip: If your new and don't know what to spend your free premium credits on.....Get the Big Horn bow. It's the most powerful weapon in the game. Hint....its glicthed and hasn't been patched yet.
I never had an issue with the grind. There was always something to do in the game that it ultimately never came up. There were tons of quests and things to discover that more often caused me to be over level by the time I moved on.
I’m a huge fan of the Assassin’s Creed series, but I hated Odyssey. Player choice does not belong in a series based on historical fiction. You can play the game however you want and make whatever choices you want, but at the end of the day which choices are canonical? I played the entire game as Alexios before finding out Kassandra was the canon protagonist. On top of that, the world it just too big. I usually like 100 percenting games, but by the 60th hour I just didn’t think it was worth it anymore. Lastly, Odyssey has virtually nothing to do with Assassin’s Creed. It’s a good game to play if you’re someone who doesn’t like Assassin’s Creed.
Same as you i love skyrim, mass effect and open world games but the problem with the newest AC games is that there is no continuation to the main story(modern day) and goes too much in to sci-fi. The games are beautiful and nice RPG but Assassin's creed is not an RPG, they should heave created another Title that follows Abstergo and the Animus's functions like a parallel world or if they wanted to continue with this name they should heave at least finished the story. So yeah i am one of the old fans that say that this change killed everything in game that could be called AC and for that reason i decided to never buy an Ubisoft product. I own all the AC games but now i feel if i could i would refund them i would gladly. I don't think i ever hated a game like this, not even andromeda :)).
Im kinda sad you didn’t talk about the Fate of Atlantis DLC. It’s one of my all time favorite DLC’s and has some of the most beautiful environments I’ve ever seen in a Video Game.
I'm an old school ac fan (played since ac2, played all of the games up to 2014 i think) tried origin but i just didn't enjoy it, so i didn't finish it. Playing odyssey for the first time, i'm about 15 hours in, and i'm really enjoying it so far. The environments looks amazing, the gameplay loop is very enjoyable, and the progress system feels good. And the naval gameplay feels awesome. I understand that some people are upset because it's not really an ac game in a sense. But i do really enjoy it.
Thanks God that are people like you that just don't hate on it for no reason. I have played some of the ac classics but I haven't enjoyed them as much as Odyssey
My personal favourite AC game. Combat is much better than the older games, there's shipcombat, the story is good, the world is amazing and I'm kind of a lootwhore.. And it's one of the VERY few games I've actually completed (not even Skyrim or The Witcher is on that list).
I can already see the angry Ac fans in the comments but I’m going to say it, Ac oddesy is literally one of my favourite games of all time. I think the story is great and the combat is pretty damm good. The fate of Atlantis DLC was an absolute banger and I’d highly recommend playing if you haven’t. I’ve yet to play the first blade DLC but it looks good. I’ve sank hundreds of hours playing through the story multiple times which is part of the appeal of the game to me. There are so many different outcomes of all the different situations in the game and with the many different endings it feels like I’m playing a new game every time I restart it.
I love your take. Very refreshing to hear it instead of the usual biased/judgmental ones on the internet. I love assassins creed O, or, at least I strongly like it.
I'm an old school assassin fan and avoided ac oddyssey for a long time based on the bad press it was blasted with. I however decided to give it a shot recently and am enjoying the game immensely at the moment. If you ignore the assassin's creed tag and look at it in isolation, it is a good game.
For me, Odyssey is a masterpiece (alongside ACII and Black Flag). The other games can be good fun (kind of like gaming 'pizza') but this was a high point.
Odyssey took a lot of unjustified flak, IMO, for radically changing the AC formula. But, in the process, it perfected the combat, the quest system, the gear system, and leveling system. If you want to use bows, melee, or assassin abilities, yeah, you have to build your Mistios around those abilities, to include equipping the right gear. You can't master all of them, pick up. In comparison, Valhalla has no builds, no skill trees, and every Eivor ends up exactly the same. I don't have an issue with the leveling system in Odyssey either. Its standard RPG fare. You're level 15, your opponent is level 15. Good to go. If they're over your level, expect an exponentially difficult fight. Its not hard and its clearly expressed to the player. Likewise, you actually don't spend a lot of time in inventory management. Thats an early-mid game issue. Once you've gained some levels and earned a few gold sets, you spend less and less time in the inventory. You'll sell off or breakdown blue/purple gear, not calculate whether its worth swapping out your gold gear for. Same for the combat system. Odyssey really perfected the combat in AC. Its fast, its fluid, you've got an array of meaningful, useful abilities, and its all clearly defined. Combat is a flurry of dodges, strikes, light and heavy, with regular ability usage. You've got unlimited heals, which enable Odyssey's epic boss and mythological battles. Valhalla's combat is a major regression, its straight back to mashing light attach over and over. Valhalla is closer to Diablo's combat than even the OldCreed games, which often were 'stand and tap counter'. Most players even finish Valhalla with the same gear/weapon they leave Norway with since they've already invested a couple upgrades into it. The quest system perfected the organization and layout, though it could have used some improvements in the actual quests . . . in contrast, Valhalla chunked side quests entirely. Valhalla is back to the OldCreed formula of pretty much running from main mission to main mission. My major issue is that Ubi listened to the vocal idiots and took all the wrong lessons. The gear system was tossed, the side quest was tossed, the naval combat was tossed, the combat was dumbed down to the point if you didn't have limited heals, you could sleep through it. I still play Odyssey from time to time on my PC after Platinuming it on the PS4 . . . but I could barely get started in Valhalla's Druid DLC. What a waste.
To add some points on your video : - The npc may be dumb at times but they're quite reactive for the most part especially when you play the bully, if you attack a civilian when you're in town they'll rush into you with pitchfork and hammers to kick your ass 😂 - The romance part is absolutely hilarious because you bang everything but sometimes the payoff are a let down, especially when you recruit them into your ship and then there's nothing else - The ship, aside from some occasional banter and battles, nothing happens. I would have loved something like the Normandy where you can speak and relax on your ship in between missions There may be more but I don't have everything in mind at the moment Oh and as annoying as Socrates is, he's definitely my favorite supporting character in the game with his constant questioning and philosophical thinking 😂
There are some hidden gems; one with Roxana if you romance her and she's on the ship at the end of Tough Love, but I agree that they did not do this enough. After the shitshow that is Valhalla, we may never see anything close to Odyssey again, sadly so no chance of improvements going forward...
If anyone is playing this on PC and sees this comment, you can get ALL of that in game DLC/mtx for free with cheat engine lol. The boosters, the cosmetics, ships, mounts gear...press one button in cheat engine and it's yours, free. No bans or anything, there is no anti-cheat for a single player offline game. (great vid btw!)
Im an og player and i loved Odessy, it was infuriating dealing with janky controls like in black flag or rouge the free running aspect is nice but shit when it refuses to cooperate never had that issue in oddessy
Swing Adam Jansen reference was hilarious. Also I never paid my bounty off. All my gear came from mercenaries and purple gear. And upgraded my whole set every 5 or 10 levels like in Origins. Only thing I always ran out of is leather. So I constantly bought all of I saw a vendor and dismantled unwanted gear. I'm way over 3 million drachame but 1 full upgrade now take a million. And I'm 95. Also 180 hours and still haven't finished it.
I’ve been playing since AC 2 and I’ve gotta say I’ve thoroughly enjoyed Odyssey. It’s a refreshing new take for the franchise and yes it has its pros and cons but it’s actually a better direction to take rather than what they’re doing to the farcry series by reusing the same map.
I often forgot I was playing an Assassin's Creed game with Odyssey. Kinda makes me wonder if it would have been a better move to ditch the AC connection and develoup it as a new IP set in loosely mythologised settings.
Tried valhalla but I couldn't help but miss odessey and origins. I really enjoyed those two and especially the improvements built upon in odessey from origins. ACV looked stunning as well and the story was ok but overall felt very basic and generic really fast. Origins and Odessey offer diversity and options which I like to have. I've played AC from the start and though I was skeptical about the direction they took with origins, I ended up REALLY enjoying it. I didn't enjoy ACV however, didn't even finish it. Never saw the need the buy any xp booster. Dumped about 90+ hours into the game without ever feeling any need to get it
With 300 hours, you are overleveled. You probably did all the side quests aside from the underwater one. Chances are, you have that weapon that allows underwater breathing. You also probably got all the ahicevemnets/trophies.
I played this game for about a month when it came out and quit, I didn't get far into the game. Same situation with Valhalla. After taking a long break from both games, I've come back to them being more polish and tons of content. These two I have been playing nonstop and really enjoying myself, far more than when I originally played. When I beat one of these game, Im going to Origins because that's the only Assassins creed game I haven't played, although I know the story by heart.

If you just ignore the "Assassin's Creed" part of this game, it's an excellent RPG with great variety imho. The XP grind and level gating are kinda badly implemented though, I agree.

Enjoyed it from an Role-playing standpoint. Black Flag was my entry point to the series so I don’t complain about the Naval Gameplay like the early fans do.
I LOVED LOVED the naval gameplay from Black Flag. One of my favorites.
Just be quiet mikeh! Because this game is garbage every game is and y’all are buying it😂
@Susan Wojcicki Bolshevik from Poland the game would be a shit ton better without the needless grinding for RPG levels they put in it and it’s even worse in Valhalla

@@franzliszt8957 which one is the best to you?
@@sportler777 I mean, I had the most fun with Odyssey.
indeed
I 100% agree I wish I could clean wipe my mind because I loved this game way to much
It’s such an underrated game. Came back to it in 2023 and it is amazing.
If you can get past a brewing storm story bug in valhalla lmfao
Agreed...but the most useless task and frustrating is chasing after those stupid tattoo designs in Valhalla. I finished everything in that game except those stupid designs.
@@yonkersguy how long did it take
@@Bannanaaan longer than I care to remember. But, I did have a great time playing this game
it was worth it.
I deleted Valhalla because the story line was so boring and repetitive but exploration within the world itself is pretty decent
Vbbhhv
I really enjoyed AC Odyssey. I have played it through twice and working on a third. It is a good game!
@@jacobsullivan8603 it’s absolutely amazing. Especially on a big flat screen 4K tv.
I absolutely loved Odyssey and personally didn't need to grind in the game at any point whatsoever.
I love Odyssey. I love Ancient Greek history and mythology. So this was a no brainer for me. Before it, I never played an AC game. Now I have played every AC game. So when people say "it's not really an AC game" I just have to laugh. lol
I just don't understand how they took a good gear/loot system like Odyssey has and totally went in another direction with Valhalla.
Valhalla's combat and gear/loot system were big steps backwards.
But I had so much fun playing Odyssey regardless of what angry millennials say about it because it's not a cut and paste from a 13 year old game.
I started playing AC oddysey in December and loved every minute with of it.
I haven't played any AC games before.
I never understood people who rush through the main story. I always play side stories because the devs put a lot of effort into creating the world, it’s a crime to ignore it. Imho
That’s why I like Far Cry
MAN!! That "AC twin-pack" price drop was SSSO perfect 😩🙏🏾💯🔥🔥🔥
I'm currently wrapping up w/ Origins, and I'm to start Odyssey soon (after a bit of a break😅)
This is my most played AC game. I have 200hrs and I don’t plan to stop. I love playing this game.
I am a 73 year old female and I love odyssey and origins, except the last two battles on the sea ❤️.
Odyssey is still a great game in 2022
This game embeds in me ever since I completed the main story...will never let it go...my favorite game
bought this game on sale a while ago and its been sitting in my backlog... needed something to play to fill the time before Horizon came out... and I'm loving it so far.... Horizon came in the mail the other day, but it's going to have to wait until I finish odysseys now
Odyssey is the most AC of all AC games. You get more information about the meta story in this game than in any other game in the series. Best AC game overall!
I really loved Odyssey, and it's dlcs , more than Valhalla.
I found fighting higher level opponents/mercenaries a great challenge! I died many times but I also became much better at attacking using combos and dodging along with using arrows
I have over 300 hours in this game and is currently on my 3rd playthrough and at no point was I ever under leveled for anything 😮
Thank you for pointing out that players DON'T need XP boosters. I've played through the game & also never felt the need to buy a booster.
Yes, they are totally irrelevant. Just paying money for nothing. I struggle to see why any rational person would do it.
I really liked this game as a newcomer to the franchise. The second story didn't make sense but it was over good.
I liked origins too. I didn't finish Valhalla I lost interest.
The fact you had that chest piece before level 20 is wild
Idk but I’m glad Desmond is gone. I feel like switching over to him always got rid of the immersion.
I played odyssey 2500 hours....
Have played 250 hours on this, about to go another round of this masterpiece ! Just a beautiful game all round.
This is the only AC game we’re still talking about.. it says a lot
Agreed. I only just started playing this game 2 weeks back and im enjoying it so far. Its not your typical AC game, thats for sure but its really fun nevertheless.
its just the neverdning story which is a good problem i guess
I just got back in to it after 2 years never beaten it , feels fresh again having a ton of fun having a blast 👍
if the odyssey were just assassin it would be boring ... but it can be played as a warrior and hunter and that's why it's the best and it will stay for a long time
The biggest problem I had with Odyssey was the slow story progression.
@@mowcowbell I had about 600,000 drachmae at one point which basically made the game really easy 😂

Unlike Valhalla, I love how you can get in brawls with civillians and how they do arm themselves if you piss them off :)
Desynching in a game about raiding villages was ridiculous - desynchronization when going out of bounds was also overly sensitive in Valhalla. So stupid. Odyssey and origins handles this so much better.

Is it worth to play in 2022, short answer: Yes!
Short answer: yes
Long answer: heeeeeeellllllllllllll yeeeeeeaaaaaaaah.
This game is really fun
With you bro! Odyssey opened up the ac series to me. The older ones weren't my favorite but given my Bethesda simp roots. I'm loving the new style.
Exploration is great in Odyssey as well, with plenty of Tombs, crypts and caves to explore. Obviously plenty of historical sites as well. - Here Ubisoft pulled ideas from Rise of the Tomb Raider; which also featured ancient Greek history, so there ya go. 👍
Anyway.
I enjoyed Odyssey very much, I've been playing AC since AC2. Odyssey was a breath of fresh air, Origins was also very good.
Played odyssey 2500 hours....valhalla is boring game...
@Arcturus I don't think A.C mirage will be as good as ODYSSEY...and that's because it's cheap, only 60 euros...
@Arcturus we still don't know for sure...but so far I liked ODYSSEY a lot but Valhalla totally disappointed so I will wait for the mirage discount...
I've been meaning to play this sometime soon. It seems like a lot of the elements from Origins made it into Odyssey.

Watch dogs
@@jonathanrowland9963 I love Watchdogs 2 and Legion but id like the style and size of Odyssey or Valhalla. Especially with their progression system of AC. Playing Watchdogs 2 now.
I heard that. have they done one in the Mayan/aztec times? It'd be dope if they paid homage to apocalypto and had the forest chase
The pros:
-The open world is enormous and well spread out with ravishing attention to detail.
-The weather system
-The ability to customize your ship, along with the options to recruit people.
Cons:
-There’s a lot of grinding.
Uhm combat is a con. And a step down from origins. But game is still good.
I've also played Valhalla for a bit and i think they also did it better there but then pulled it too far to the easy side
In short.
And look at T7 PDM’s tips, tricks, and builds to one shot enemies halfway through the game.
RPG??? LOL
@@SkankHunt007 not a joke...its one of the best RPGs ever made.
@@SkankHunt007 it’s literally a rpg. Why are you being a edgelord
@@SkankHunt007 literally it’s about role playing mainly since your choices matter more than your combat
Started playing it a week ago, and i hated myself for not playing it for so long. What a game!
Bought it today playing for the first time it's great so far already role playing a stealth assassin using the shroud of penelope. Just set sail
I never had an issue with the grind. There was always something to do in the game that it ultimately never came up. There were tons of quests and things to discover that more often caused me to be over level by the time I moved on.
I love this game! Always did! Played it 3 times and all dlc‘s, which by the way where great! 🙏👍🏻
I played odyssey 2500 hours...ha ha
Easily one of the best games I’ve played with shear fun, wish they kept updating things like valhalla gets because it’s that good
I’m a huge fan of the Assassin’s Creed series, but I hated Odyssey.
Yea it was awesome tho they gave the most useless abilities buffs with the keepers insights the only one I use is Ares madness
@@turtleborg Ares bull charge is actually a good enhancement too and I also like Chronos' punishment.
I’m playing it rn. Valhalla is still my favorite. Origins prob second favorite. Unity third. But this one is pretty good to
Good review. I've been playing AC since the very first were released, and i still play Odyssey today. One of my favorite games.
I played odyssey 2500 hours...ha ha
Still playing this game today absolutely love it.
I like how buddy throws a tomato at the dude, but tomatoes weren't brought to Europe until the discovery of the new world
Funny that you posted this video, as I just started playing the game again and I am enjoying it again.
I love your take. Very refreshing to hear it instead of the usual biased/judgmental ones on the internet. I love assassins creed O, or, at least I strongly like it.
there is even a fourth option to get rid off your bounty: fight in a territory battle. After that all your bounty sets to zero
If you're now an Assassins Creed fan, you should play Ghost of Tsushima, it's basically the same thing but in Feudal Japan
I love Ghost of Tsushima. Played it a ton back when it launched. Might revisit it again soon. Good recommendation
@@BigDanGaming if you have a PS5 get the upgrade, it includes some pretty good DLC
I'm an old school assassin fan and avoided ac oddyssey for a long time based on the bad press it was blasted with. I however decided to give it a shot recently and am enjoying the game immensely at the moment. If you ignore the assassin's creed tag and look at it in isolation, it is a good game.
I played odyssey 2500 hours...ha ha
For me, Odyssey is a masterpiece (alongside ACII and Black Flag). The other games can be good fun (kind of like gaming 'pizza') but this was a high point.
I dunno. I’m playing it in 2022 and like it.
So, I'm an RPG fan of course, but AC Odyssey IS the best AC game to date. Valhalla is just okay. Odyssey is magnificent, for an AC game.
Played odyssey 2500 hours....valhalla is boring game...
To add some points on your video :
- The npc may be dumb at times but they're quite reactive for the most part especially when you play the bully, if you attack a civilian when you're in town they'll rush into you with pitchfork and hammers to kick your ass 😂
- The romance part is absolutely hilarious because you bang everything but sometimes the payoff are a let down, especially when you recruit them into your ship and then there's nothing else
- The ship, aside from some occasional banter and battles, nothing happens. I would have loved something like the Normandy where you can speak and relax on your ship in between missions
There may be more but I don't have everything in mind at the moment
Oh and as annoying as Socrates is, he's definitely my favorite supporting character in the game with his constant questioning and philosophical thinking 😂
There are some hidden gems; one with Roxana if you romance her and she's on the ship at the end of Tough Love, but I agree that they did not do this enough. After the shitshow that is Valhalla, we may never see anything close to Odyssey again, sadly so no chance of improvements going forward...
You just have to complete side quests, it's not that grindy
I and new to assassin's creed. I'm currently playing valhalla. I'm in love. Will be playing oddesy after. Great video
I got this game about a week ago now its the first AC game ive played and i love it. Its stunning to look at and fun as shit.
Dumped about 90+ hours into the game without ever feeling any need to get it
I played odyssey 2500 hours...i buy XP boost because i love the game...this game is amazing for how create build
Finished the game with almost 300hours and never entered the store to buy xp boost or any crap like that.
