Well, Arthur Darvill was at the filming, but he didn't take part in the scene. So they may definitely have killed him off (I'm not saying they did either). And your guess is similar to many others I've heard and it sounds pretty accurate. I agree.
There wasn't any particular gravestone(s) that was or even looked important. I actually don't know what's going on with the cemetery except that it's supposed to be in New York and that it's where Amy's final scene takes place. Rory (Arthur Darvill) wasn't even taking part. He was sitting aside, with the crew. The only time he got up was when the cut and he went up to chat with the gang :)
Omg! That was truly heartbreaking! I actually guessed correctly on how Amy was going to die, I just knew she would walk straight up to a Weeping Angel and kill herself....but I didn't expect it to be soooo heartbreaking! I'm going to sob when this happens...at first I didn't believe my eyes, I had to read it 3 times to be sure...Moffat...I can't believe you killed Amy!
I'm not passing anything off as fact, but... Steven Moffat said that killing them both off was an option and no one had ruled that out. Also, Matt Smith - during an interview on Angels Take Manhattan - said that the Ponds will "meet their demise". It's speculated that he gave it away by mistake. The synopsis for this episode says "something has happened to Rory..."
@milan delanghe Oh, thank you very much! XD No. Nobody who was watching the filming would be in the shot. Every 5 - 10 minutes a security guard would tell the crowd to move a little further down the path so that we woulden't be in the next shot. Rest assured, you won't see anybody, but the cast in the episode.
Going on all the news, teasers and interviews, this is what I've gathered: Steven Moffat has said he'd brought the scary Angels from 'Blink' back. Meaning that they send people back in time rather than snap their necks. I'm not going to say the next bit (it's considered a spoiler) I'll just say that Rory won't get turned to stone. Also, in a recent interview with Moffat, he said "not everyone get's out alive. I know I've said that before and I lied, but this time, it's the truth!"
Reports are saying it is... "The Doctor and companions Amy and Rory travel to America to battle a new army of Weeping Angels and they get a massive shock when the 305ft-tall statue in New York harbour turns out to be the biggest one of them all." ~ Daily Star
How about my take on things... Now we know that they get sent back in time, etc, but in the Crack/Pandorica storyline, the Angels snapped necks. Perhaps they do something that they did before now... "The image of an angel, becomes an angel." What if Rory is turned into an Angel and Amy wants to be with him, so she turns herself into one?
Don't know if anyone has noticed but look at what River Song is wearing! Its the same outfit she is wearing in Time of Angels. Is her parents dying the reason she goes after them or does the doctor tell her she has to go?
I'm not entirely sure. They're all the same race, except some are possibly more brutal than the others. There wasn't enough "angel" moments during filming to know since it was more about Amy, the Doctor and River. But my guess would be that it's neither.... We'll have to wait and see...
Im involved with a site called Doctor Who TV (link is in the description) and theres a post titled "Series 7 - Cemetery set report" it has some pics (not all) all of the pictures I took are here in the video.
Hm,...Rory being sent back in time and Amy following him seems like just another supposition. What would have clinched it for me would have been a picture of a gravesite with Rory and Amy's names on the gravestone, which is what I thought I was going to see here, but didn't.... The Beeb are very tight-lipped. They only tell you what they want you to know, and that includes 'spoilers.'
Yes. Episode 5 is the return of the Weeping Angels. The Doctor Who team also filmed in New York City too for half of the episode.
OMG OMG OMG! River Song is back, also the weeping angels. It's gonna be awesome!!!
weeping angels r soo scary and they rule cant wait for dis series its needs to hurry up and be on TV in Australia now
Really sad end to really great companions! The music was a killer!

I can just picture them using the track "The Life and Death of Amy Pond" during this scene!

The green screen is used so that they can import New York to make it look as if it's in the background.
Alex kingston is back!!! wojojojojo!!
I wonder what the hell will they do with the green curtain...

It was just a theory, even if they kill Rory off they need to get rid of Amy too, and they tend to try to keep these things vaguely optimistic
OH MY GOD

Or maybe she got the angel to send her back in time too. If it was the same one then it's likely that she'd get sent to the same time.

OMFG * hyperventilates* River fricking Song is coming back....... Oh wow I'm going to party now or cry cos Amy's going.....
