We definitely needed to see more of a dark Sylvester McCoy. He remains my favourite of the classic series (sorry, Tom Baker) because he's the first who could really nail the sociopathic darkness of the Doctor, was as otherworldly as the original four, and could pull of the friendly charming fun uncle as well as two, three and four. He was a fantastic reconnect after the poorly cast and poorly written Colin Baker and Peter Davidson years. The entire existence of Sylvester McCoy' and Paul McGann's Doctors gives me hope that there's life after the abysmally poorly cast and poorly written Whittacker and Gatwa years. And without Slvester McCoy, would we have got the darkness of the Moffat years with the 11th and 12th Doctors (and the occasional darkness of the original RTD years).

I can see this scene playing out a lot more menacingly, without the bombastic music but with an eerie undertown as he single handedly strikes fear into an army of spaceships.

Did always love Silversters darker more narcissistic tone as The Doctor, I'm pretty young but Remembrance of the Daleks will always be one of my favourite episodes, 7th Doctor is what I'd imagine a TimeLord to be mysterious, cunning, narcissistic, emotionless, looks down on others kinda aristocratic stiff upper lip pfft tone. And Silverster nails that at times.

The seriousness tone of voice means he’s dead serious without the need to emphasize, cold I like it

I went watched the original with the audio muted and this playing, and he landed it almost beat for beat. (mind, the editing was vague enough to mean there were basically only 3 really important zooms/beats etc,. but still) It was a REALLY cool experience to see this scene from a different doctor's perspective.

Honestly the way Sylvester reads this, you really think this speech was actually written for 7. It’s so good considering he was doing it at a random convention with no real practice.

It's mad how he's reading it for the first time off a scrap of paper in-front of a large crowd without knowing any of the context and he does it better than Matt Smith did, and that's saying something
