nice job, i'm due to replace the bearing on mine soon in the next couple of weeks as it's only engaging the blade when the levers are engaged and it stalls the engine as soon as you let go.

great video - mines not spinning up at all when engaged , was slow to spin up last summer but put off dealing with it! do you know the part number from the replacement clutch plate? cant find the plate on its own anywhere. thanks

Thanks for the video, going to try this on my hrd535, hoping it works as it’s a heavy unit to push

How do you lock the engine so you can undo that bolt in the centre.

Hi if you use an impact wrench you don't have too. Or alternatively place somwthing in the fly wheel at top. But be warned you can break finss this way

I've honestly no idea what's going on with your hrd! I've got 2 everyday Hrh's a 4 wheeled and a roller. Both probably do 15hrs+ a week each in season. And I've 2 more Hrh's as back ups, which rarely get used as Honda's are so reliable.
They are many years old 6+ and I've never replaced the clutch plate ever! Or the inserts which are available separately btw. Must be under warranty still?

Just one of those things from the last two mower I've baught them both new and had problems with them.
Could be the way I use them
      Could be bad luck
Or could just be everything is made poorly these days so not up to the job.
Warrenty don't get me started on that I'm changing the shop I use as this will be the second mower I've baught from them and getting anything done on warrenty is like getting blood out of a stone. M

15 hours + per week each season isn't that much though.
Can always get unlucky with problems such as the the clutch.
Disagree partially with your idea that Honda mowers are reliable. The pro models are pretty good, but the mid range (other than the Izzy) are well over priced and far from reliable.
Had a 426 which I wanted to use for small jobs where I needed to carry it up garden steps and it lasted half a season.

Should the centre nut be tightened to the correct torque. If so what torque ?

How odd for that to go so soon Mike, I've got a really old domestic model that has been a absolutely ragged and it's still got the original one in it. I really don't know what's going on with all these new machines, as for the blades🙄 can't understand why they are so soft mike.

Cheap metal fella. It all comes down to who can supply the blade at the best price. Let's face it if they save 20p per blade that's a lot of money over the amount they would buy.

I assumed it was the clutch plate but I'm thinking more the cable. But won't know Untill I get cutting grass again.
Yeah pretty busy fella out three days of the week mainly pressure washing drives and patios but it's work.
      How about you. M
