- Hi in this video i show you how i remove and reinstall the Blade Brake Clutch / Roto stop on a Honda HRH,HRD,HR mowers. THanks for watching.
Watched this video again whilst replacing the clutch on my HRH. Double thumbs up if I could. lining up the Keyway onto the flywheel was the flddliest part of the job for me. Great tip on getting the first few threads of the bolt on. Previously I tried to compress the spring while someone tightened the bolt! Thanks again
Thank you very much for posting this video. I've got the same job to do as my bearing had disintegrated! Ordered from L&S Engineers in Brownhills, West Midlands. Hope mine goes as straightforwardly...👍
My HRH536 starts off great put once warmed up it slows down , would this procedure help sort that problem? The belt seems OK.
Hi the hrh536 doesn’t have a belt? If it has a belt it’s a different model, they did do a few hrd536 (4 wheelers ) with belt. Check your plate for the model then get back to me 🙂👍
My blade won’t keep running. Should I try replacing the clutch? Seems like it disengages when I hit moderately deep grass.
Hi possibly the only way to really know is to take it apart and check, if the mower is quite old it won’t hurt changing it anyway, thanks for watching 🙂👍
Hi Great vid I have a HRB536c just been quoted £500 for complete new clutch brake assembly?? does this sound right. .
That is blade brake clutch ? Not gearbox? Sounds about right for gearbox but for the blade brake clutch I’d say it’s very expensive.
Hi many thanks for the video.
I unhooked the springs on the last plate ( think its called the the ball control assembly.) and removed it to replace the top bearing.
My problem is reassembly!
The THRUST WASHER has a small circa 2mm CHAMFER around the edge on one side . I did not notice this when I removed it. So now need to know which side do you place the washer face with the chamfer?
I.e. does the chamfer go to the Rotostop bearing - blade side or does it face the engine ( lower crankshaft seal side )?
Any help much appreciated.
How do you block the principal disk? Thank you
Pull cord rope in the plug hole, just make sure you push enough in 🙂👍
Hey, great video, I'm struggling to find/reppace the rota stop bearing for my hrd 536, do you know where I can order one?
I got the bottom rota stop bearing from eBay, it was quite cheap. Hope this helps thanks🙂👍
Really helpful. I put the blade assembly on and tightened the bbc on the crank with an impact - wanted to check torque - but crank moving - how do you jam the crank? Hopefully the impact will have it very tight. Thanks for your advice, sir.
I should say that. Hadn’t hooked the new rotostop cable back on the handle at that stage so don’t know if that will help.
The easiest way to jam the crank is to take the spark plug out, then push so pull cord rope or something similar in the plug hole, as pull cord is soft it won’t damage the piston but will stop it moving so you can tighten the bottom crank bolt.
Thumbs up for this great video thanks for sharing,
I have a 1997 honda HRH 536, it is my intention to replace
the ROTO-STOP BLADE CONTROL CABLE and I wonder if you could be kind to let me know:
Can the the renewal be done by just removing the blade, leaving the Roto stop Clutch in place?
Many thanks
Francesco
Hi yes I’m sure a cable can be fitted with out removing the roto stop, some long pliers would be handy, you will also need to remove the plastic cover behind the engine, hope this helps and thanks for watching🙂👍
@@menditman2004 Grazie mille, sei numero 1
hi i have hrh 536qxe , in ireland, can i send roller assembly to you for service
Hi, will you be kind to let me know if the Clutch Plate Roto Stop for HONDA HR194 HR214 HRD535K1 will fit my Honda HRH 536 HX? My local Honda dealer is no sure! Many thanks
Hi I think so but you will have to check as I’m not 100% sure, thanks🙂👍
my hrd535 makes a grinding noise when i use my rotostop, the blades dont turn but they wobble slightly.
the sound is gone when in engage the blades.
i tried removing the middle bolt but its impossible to remove.
Hi, just watched your video, will I need to do this procedure you show to change the Blade Brake Clutch cable/rotor stop cable,
my machine is the Honda HRD 536.
regards
Hi yes you have to remove the bbc to fit the new cable, it’s a bit fiddly but it’s easy enough. Good luck👍
Great video but I’m struggling when I assemble it main part to engine bolted with the shoulder bolts is fine but spring should are under full tension so when you put it all together the bbc is in full contact
When I try to the the centre bolt off it just turns over the engine like it wants to start and it won't come off? Any ideas what to do?
Hi yes take the spark plug out and put some pull cord down the plug hole, obviously leaving enough to pull it back out, it will act as a piston stop and you will be able to undo the nut. You should always remove the spark plug cap when working under a mower. Hope this helps 🙂👍
@@menditman2004 I have the spark plug cable off, I'll try the pull cord method hopefully this will work thanks
@@menditman2004 I tried this and the engine still wants to start even with pull cord slightly in and spark plug off and the nut still won't come off
@@menditman2004 do you mean the starter pull cord to put in abit or put some rope through the spark plug hole I saw this mentioned online and am abit confused on what it means.
@@sebtjalsma Not the starter recoil, a piece of starter rope or para cord would do.
Hi, Thanks for the information
Hi.
Could you help me?
I need to know how the shaft is locked.
My bearing is broken and I cannot loosen the screw because the shaft rotates.
Is an impact wrench enough
Thanks
Hi yes the bolt will turn with the engine , you need to lock the engine, one way that can be done is if you get some old pull rope (like the rope you pull to start your mower with) push it into the spark plug hole, obviously leaving enough out to pull it out again, but when you have pushed enough in you will feel the engine lock, because the rope is soft you won’t damage anything. The other way is a good impact gun, that would do it without the need to lock the engine, but it does need to be a powerful one. Hope this helps and thanks for watching🙂👍
@@menditman2004 thanks. I will try whit a impact gun. 👍👍
Hi. Good news.
bearing repaired with an impact gun. Thank you very much for the advice.
Francisco & Silvia Hi great news 🙂👍
Francisco & Silvia That’s great🙂👍
oops i have sripped the tread on the 10 mill bolts 601 on video any help???..
Tbh that difficult to repair as they are special bolts and that’s into the engine casing. Heli coil would probably work, google them hope this helps thanks for watching🙂👍
@@menditman2004 thanks will look into that ...
How offering do this happening ? I got a hr536
Hi thats a difficult question, I’ve been using a hrh536 for over 3 years and I’ve only had trouble with the bbc once and that would due to the mower having a bent crankshaft, so for a long time the bbc was running uneven. The purpose of the video was basically just to show how to remove and reinstall, but to get to lubricate the cable and springs this is the best way. But from my experience they rarely go wrong, cable breaking would be the most common problem. Hope this helps and thanks for watching🙂👍
@@menditman2004 I bought a good second hand one just before Christmas a 2013 , I only had carbon problem cause off use petrol that was left init , thank you for the reply back , I can't wait till next month now
Your blade seem to be more straighter and mine one in the middle
Edward did you solve carbon build up?
@@timcolehan4135 yeah got it all done
Great vid, thanks
Hi, you sent me a reply a few weeks ago regarding changing the roto stop cable on my Honda HRD 536, I've managed to the hard part as in connecting to the clutch all is good there, but can't quite remember how the cable fixes properly on the handle, by this I mean when you depress the yellow button and move the roto handle forward to engage the blade? any chance of letting me know what I'm doing wrong? Regards
Maybe I can help with pictures of mine ?
@@ASHRAFT11111111
Hi, yes that would be great, on the roto stop arm there is 2 holes, an 8mm and a 6mm, I think the lever lock arm when depressed picks up the 8mm pin, and it looks like the cable end attaches to the 6mm hole, but I don't remember ever seeing it fitted this way, perhaps the cable wasn't ever fitted right in the first place as I bought the machine second hand
Prefer the Toro belt driven BBC one
Hi I knew that would be what you would say 😂 what I would say though is that the one on this video probably isn’t as refined as some, but it is tried and tested and rarely goes wrong, having no belts on these mowers Is a good thing to IMO. But that everyone will have there different views , anyway thanks for watching 🙂👍
There is no way I say no way the main shaft bolt will come off that easy.
Yes your right I had cracked the bolt off before I started the video, but the purpose of the video was to show how to draw the blade brake clutch assembly off. But generally I’d tackled right the middle bolt is never to hard to get off. Thanks for watching🙂👍
