Great video again - I did a clutch bearing replacement on a SX model last week - and it needed exactly the same clutch cable adjustment. good little machines
Bruce, sorry about your crew member, I've lost a few from mine but the memories will live on forever. Now, I learned something new again from you, never knew about the J.S.I. screws or tools but I have a few Hondas in my hoard out back so I just ordered a set of driver tips from amazon figuring I might just need them later. Thank you sir for the continued education
Wow this one certainly was a challenge. So many little things wrong with it and you did it without spending a bunch of money on the machine. Now that it is done she should be an excellent mower for someone for sometime I would think. Oh and by the way thanks for explaining the JIS screw and screwdrivers. I have wondered what the deal really was. Now I know. Thanks for all you do for your followers. Thanks for the video.
Good to see that old Honda brought back to a reliable piece of equipment again and those handle bars look pretty good too... not rusted up at all, once again nice fix Bruce!
Another one of those 'amateur adjusted' mower repairs by Bruce Pender which are my favourite type of video. It all went very well and must have been very satisfying to do...good job mate
Just so many issues and problems. You had to fix a bunch of things, just so you could fix the other things. Amazing repair, thanks for the videos... and what a nice mower at the end!
Thanks Bruce. Always wondered how those Honda clutch blade assemblies came apart. I also have no low speed on my Honda (an HRX). It either on high or off - no in between.
Yes, thanks. How are you? I am working on a 20 inch Murray mower. It is a small mower for us in North America. We don't see many Murray's up here in Canada.
Great job Mate!! That was a fun one because of all the challenges!! I never heard the JIS Screws, I was aware of the Reed and Prince, even have a few R&P Drivers eh!!☺
I actually have a similar machine, I believe an HR214. Only major difference between them is the shaft driven rear wheel drive that mine has on it. Real good machines, they work darn well! I really enjoy using mine.
Great repair Bruce. I get a mower in once in awhile that someone has been into it like that one and you have to repair and readjust things before you can actually get the problem it came in for. And sorry to hear about your friend. Take care Inspector, Ray from Ohio.
Thanks Dave. I was worried when my channel consisted of 80% mowers. I then realised Every one with a house-farm or acreage has at least 2 of them. It has become my channel's bread and butter.
Great job Bruce! I love these mowers, had three of them in here this summer for blade clutch, carb and drive issues. I was so impressed with the build quality that I bought one for myself (like I need another mower). Hope you get that one! I picked up an HR214 SMA with electric start and 2 speed drive but the manual push ones are even better (less to break down). I’m a huge fan of that blade clutch design, much better than the belt style Toro uses.
NIce job Bruce: I love it when people monkey with small engines and when they bring them to me to fix, most do not tell the truth as to what they did. Always finding many things wrong as you did on that mower. Thanks for the video.
The only problem with the snapper I have with the Robin engine, the blade brake clutch didn't work. From the age of the snapper, the brake material had fallen apart, and since this clutch system uses a strap type clutch with clutch like material is rivited / glued to the strap, which they don't sell, you have to buy the whole assembly 200 some odd dollars, I said yeah right. You know the green clutch material they include with the friction disk for rear engine snapper riders, well it's the same material, so I cut the green material to fit within the strap, and just glued it on like a pair of drum brakes like back in the day, it's not the space shuttle right.... Lol works perfectly, I will put the video up of the job soon. The Honda clutch system is much better made though.... Great video Sir.

How's she goin'? You got that mower running like a Honda!!! LOL I'm not a fan of the clutch blade drive, but Honda seems to do things like this eh!!! Nice job tracking down issue after issue!! LOL Take care!!

They are tough. That is why they are still around. Thanks again
nice job . I had one like this for over 30 years . Still ran like a top . Yearly maintance and they run for ever . Thanks
Maintenance is the key

They work great on regular Phillips to. I actually put my old Phillips away. It is a depth thing. The old ones are too pointy.

Once again Thanks a lot.

I get that.
Same here! It might need adjustment, as I managed to get a kind of slower speed. Need to look into it further.
That was a good 2 parter. I enjoyed it a lot. I just put a set of JIS screwdrivers in my Amazon shopping cart too.
Good stuff. You will use them all the time.
Nice Job bruce. That will make a nice mower for someone!
Yes it will. I might sell it in the spring.
This has been my favorite model of the dozen or so mowers I have owned in my life. Built to last.
You are right.
Nice one Bruce gotta luv those older hondas !!!! Tecumseh carb kits will be there soon.
OMG Thanks I have no words. That is rare LOL
Good job Bruce , enjoyed it - I've never adjusted this item before . Good lesson .
Another good one Bruce keep it sell it and make a buck lots of work you did. All the best from Ontario stay well and get ready for the snow Cheers
We have had some but a few nice days now and it will be gone for a few weeks.
Nice little dance there. Awesome work on the mower too.

I now have a set and they are truly amazing for us guys on the metric side ;-)
Glad you could repair that honda and get it running right.Hondas are good.Enjoyed the video
Thanks 👍

They sure don't make em like that anymore. Nice job Bruce!
I know eh!!!
Great repair Bruce. Never knew about that Japanese screw. Looks like its time to go buy a new screwdriver
Just google J.I.S.

Thank you so much.
Bruce, you saved another one. Nice older Honda now! Its always worth saving a Honda in my opinion. Roger
Once in a while. I am still not fond of the brass jet carbs.
Hi Bruce, what did you set the idle RPM to? Mine idles down a lot more than that one so I'm wondering if I need to turn the wick up a bit.
You can set the idle on the throttle arm when it is low.
You definitely saved a good one there Bruce. Those were very durable mowers

That is what this is all abut. I learn on every job too.
I was working on an engine yesterday and was having trouble trying to figure it out I thought in my mind WWBD. WHAT WOULD BRUCE DO???
A new acronym. LOL

Hi Bruce Great video and great information. 👍
Thanks I used to realy struggle with these but after a half a dozen or more it is coming.
great re-life Bruce, gotta like the Honda engines, but I grit my teeth when I see one of those PowerMore things. take care
Me too.
Bruce Pender awesome video
if you are ever in east tennessee, then say hey y'all. I mostly do push mowers too. About 90% are pushers
Everyone as one.
Sorry for your loss Bruce
No problem. He still makes me smile.
Another awesome episode of pender tv on the penderosa
Thanks Tom

great job sir
Thanks again. As always. I use my coffee cup still everyday.
@@BrucesShop i wish u could send some of that canadien weather down here sir
Nice job. Instead of all the fiddling with the throttle cable by the engine there should be a cable adjustment on the top.
Yes I adjusted that devil too. I try but I can't film it all.
Na, the forgetting the sparkplug wire isn't age.... Lol I do it, Henry from Mowers&Blowers does it to, as does Mustie1... LMAO
Right Like spilling gas. LOL
@@BrucesShop Hahahaha no.... Many things Sir.
Nice to have adjustment. Craftsman makes you buy a whole new cable.
Right. As well the conduit (black part) is larger.
I am so Confused I have never seen a manual operated blade clutch ..My head would be hurting trying to figure out that one
The are nice if they work. Just stop the blade and not have to restart the engine. Good for stuff in the lawn

Top job.
I'd be worried about cross threading the bolt using the impact to get it started.
That has happened. Not so bad on metal but terrible on plastic.
It's smooth now thanks to Bruce. The person who previously "worked" on this Honda isn't very bright.
I agree.
Wheres part 1?
