to me there were 3, difficult to choose which one Ardbert , Haurchefant and Minfilia 's... when i played EW and was doing this part i was depressed and mentally broken. This expansion literally saved my life
This is the creature who fought Omega to a standstill and was the only of his kind to traverse the Sea of Stars, and he acknowledged your strength back in Heavensward. Imagine how proud he'd be of how far you've come.
Emet talking about locations you haven’t been to yet, is like your friend watching you finish reading this book called The Hobbit, then while you sitting back and saying what a great story it was, he says “yeah it was a great book, but haven’t you heard of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy? The Samirillon??...WHAT, YOU HAVEN'T??? WHAT ROCK DO YOU LIVE UNDER???"

The Elpis flowers being in its normal state makes a lot more sense if you do some of the sidequests and FATEs in the zone Dragonets with "OK, Boomer" attitudes towards the hopeless adult dragons, Eas that want to re-experience what its like to have corporeal forms, and Omicrons that want more out of life than constant combat

But if it is that you're talking about like the very end, THE end of FFXIV... then yeah, that would make it a good throwback if there will be any.

Part of what saves Emet Selch from being seen as the monster his genocides should label him as, is that he suffered no small amount of misery himself. He could have just given up. Died and faded away. Instead, he set out on a path that, yes, would kill many, many, many people. But we see him in Shadowbringers. And he is very, very, very tired. He's not doing this for himself. He's not trying to reclaim the seat of power he once held. He would simply do anything for his people. It doesn't excuse his actions, but a selfless villain, with noble goals, really is different from your usual villain. I can't think of a better Anti-Villain. The only downside is that Venat never gets called out on what she did. She started this whole 'genocide' thing. Emet Selch would never have done what he didn't if she didn't tear the world apart. Venat also suffered in the furtherance of her solution, and so I can forgive her as well. But she's got just as much blood on her hands as Emet Selch and Meteion. All had horrifying solutions to the horrors they faced. But Venat isn't ever treated as a villain by anyone but Emet Selch.

Venat saw firsthand in Elpis what excessive knowledge and power untempered by wisdom could do, and did what she could to make sure nobody could ever come by that knowledge again without going through the struggles that naturally come with it.

I finished endwalker about 3 weeks ago. My fiancé and roommate stayed up until 3am with me to watch me get to and finish ultima thule. The amount of tears I cried up to kissing the twins could fill a damn 6’ deep pool! When I started walking and the voices spoke to me I tried to contain myself. Cue Haurchefant’s voice, and I broke!!!! Cue Ryne’s voice, I couldn’t breathe! Cue second Arbert’s voice, I said “this is the most beautiful story I have ever read”.
Emet-Selch was my favourite part of FF14. We do anything to save the ones we love, and we found somebody who was doing the same and in Hythlodaeus we saw the his was a worthy fight, but in the end we all are willing to give our all for the star.
The moment that first echo spoke I literally covered my mouth and started to tear up, this moment was one of the many great moments in Endwalker that shine and stick with me. Each echoes just made me cry harder and harder, like just rewatching it has me in some tears as well. The build up to the walk was perfect.
And thus, the Elpis flower did indeed become test and proof of the WoL's conviction. A conviction that would not fade even in the very nest of despair. Oh boy, what a trip this expansion has been.
The pacing is so much better just continuing to walk. It was very powerful. Memory after memory hitting every nerve. The lose and sacrifice of our friends to just get to this moment.
Kinda feel sorry for Emet. All this time, he refused to see that the one he had been fighting for so long, was one of his most beloved friends. Azem. Now? now he has to spend the remainder of his fading soul within the star listening to Hythlodaeus pointing at him and going, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHA! I told you! hahahaha!
One of my favorite parts of this game is how often you see those you’ve helped in the past. Sometimes they even give you a dialogue choice to say that you remember them, even if it doesn’t actually change anything I still remembered them all. The walk of remembering all the friends we’ve made along the way really hit home for me.
Emet-Selch's suggestions for future content all have the makings of a fun, adventurous "Mists of Pandaria" style expansion and I'd be 100% there for it.

Granted, mists of pandaria is still better than wod, bfa and shadowlands (all a score beneath 3/10 on metactritic by the way = so pretty bad), but the story in world of warcraft as a whole is still as brain afk as it can get. It was (again) Alliance & Horde brainlessly trying to kill eachother, until there was a common foe, then fighting together and after that trying to kill eachother again. This "great" storyline is repeating itself since warcraft 3 and was probably most bonkers during bfa with the Horde committing straight up genocide nonstop and are still considered champions. xD It was the same during mists with some pandas in between. But everything revolving arounnd the main story (Alliance & Horde) is really, really tiresome. I agree though, some light-hearted stuff in ff14 would be a nice change after Endwalker. :) Personally I was a little bit disappointed of Zenos' story arc and would have wished for it to be a bit more developed... but who knows what the future holds.

I love that Emet is totally unapologetic for what he did in ShB. It’s not some cliche “Oh you were right the whole time and I just didn’t see”. He still firmly believes he was justified. He just lost.

Correct, when Hermes alters their memory with Kairos( I think) the only way for them to remember what they had been made to forget was to be return to the aetherial sea(die). Since the end of shadowbringer with his death we made that happen and he was able to remember what he forgot.

ngl, those spectres freaked me out at first, i thought "oh no, its those damned corrupted souls from Rusty Lake... D:" but i wasn't sure if Yoshi-P would do a reference to a flash game that many may not be familiar with. Jessie Cox (famous youtuber/twitch streamer) made the reference as well, so i feel a little bit more assured about it.
We created them with that size in mind because they're literally 13 times thicker in aether if we summon them in their true form. Venat's creation magick in the stone was only enough for us to recreate the other 7 Scions + two "half-faded soul of the dead" version of then. If we spend it all on recreating them the Scions would be dead :P For Meteion, she can assume any form with any aether thickness she want (remember back in Elpis when she manipulated her aether so it became so thin than nobody can detect her but us?) if she can turn herself invisible I don't see why she can't turn herself a little smaller. You know for easy, less awkward conversations. Imagine if she's just giant and have to look down on us the whole way while saying random depressing shit like omg talking to you gives me sore neck thus we all must die, no more unrelenting despair from a forever sore neck...yeah that'd be awkward

The WoL is the reincarnation of that Azem, while Venat became Hydaelyn and doesn't really go by Azem anymore. Azem is like a title she gave up and passed unto another. Venat was her real name and Hydaelyn became her new name after she turned into the planet defending crystal goddess.

Oh boy, what a trip this expansion has been.
The pacing is so much better just continuing to walk. It was very powerful. Memory after memory hitting every nerve. The lose and sacrifice of our friends to just get to this moment.

One of my favorite parts of this game is how often you see those you’ve helped in the past. Sometimes they even give you a dialogue choice to say that you remember them, even if it doesn’t actually change anything I still remembered them all. The walk of remembering all the friends we’ve made along the way really hit home for me.
Emet-Selch's suggestions for future content all have the makings of a fun, adventurous "Mists of Pandaria" style expansion and I'd be 100% there for it.

The day ff14 becomes as idotic as world of warcraft is the day I stop playing. Granted, mists of pandaria is still better than wod, bfa and shadowlands (all a score beneath 3/10 on metactritic by the way = so pretty bad), but the story in world of warcraft as a whole is still as brain afk as it can get.

@@Xelpherpolis Ah, I see. mop wasn't really light-hearted though. It was (again) Alliance & Horde brainlessly trying to kill eachother, until there was a common foe, then fighting together and after that trying to kill eachother again. This "great" storyline is repeating itself since warcraft 3 and was probably most bonkers during bfa with the Horde committing straight up genocide nonstop and are still considered champions. xD It was the same during mists with some pandas in between. But everything revolving arounnd the main story (Alliance & Horde) is really, really tiresome.
I agree though, some light-hearted stuff in ff14 would be a nice change after Endwalker. :)
Personally I was a little bit disappointed of Zenos' story arc and would have wished for it to be a bit more developed... but who knows what the future holds.
i love how the protagonists mouth slowly opens in hunger for adventure when emet tells them about all the possible adventures and treasures they could find xD

EDIT: Also, I've seen a comic out there somewhere where someone had their own additions to this scene. Before Emet and Hylo leave their WOL let's them know that next time they meet they are dragging the two of them on an adventure. Similar to the promise that the WOL made with G'Raha.
I love that Emet is totally unapologetic for what he did in ShB. It’s not some cliche “Oh you were right the whole time and I just didn’t see”. He still firmly believes he was justified. He just lost.

@@luminozero Thank you for doing this, I honestly forgot a lot of their quotes and voices! When the 1st shadow showed up, I immediately recognize Haucherfaunt and it fucking broke me. I crying all the way to the end and not remembering who was talking except for the very few voices that I manage to pick up with all the sobbing I was doing. The ones I recognize were Count Edmont, Beq Lugg, Midgardsmor & Minfilia.
I never understand why they put ???? for Emet and Hythlodeus. As if we wouldn't recognize them from their masks or voices alone at this point.

Emet-Selch always so dramatic, fucking love that dude. The sarcasm, the shade, the theatrics, and his foresight/foreshadowing...that bastard lmao. Everytime Hythodaeus appears fully, I'm like: He's sooo pretty, too pretty lmao 🤣. But man the emotions, and feels from this expac just literally come gushing out
he sounded like an irritable, stubborn, sarcastic, grumpy old man then...all these years later and he hasn't change a bit. beginning to understand why people call him the best villain in a FF game to date.

I just finished EW. I’m sad that I’m finally at the end tbh, it was such a ride from like my initial login to this. I sobbed during this entire sequence, I was so scared my scions were gone for good this time; I was devastated over Emet’s end, g’raha
I would have liked to see some, if not all of them gone. It would have made it that much more impactful, and truly grand. What are after all, a few lives compared to millions if not more?

Correct, when Hermes alters their memory with Kairos( I think) the only way for them to remember what they had been made to forget was to be return to the aetherial sea(die). Since the end of shadowbringer with his death we made that happen and he was able to remember what he forgot.

To be fair, you could say they're smaller because they're half faded souls as Emet stated. They lost a lot of Aether upon death.
Emet was our size when we fought him the first time and when we killed him in the dying gasp lol. Metion i can’t explain
We created them with that size in mind because they're literally 13 times thicker in aether if we summon them in their true form. Venat's creation magick in the stone was only enough for us to recreate the other 7 Scions + two "half-faded soul of the dead" version of then. If we spend it all on recreating them the Scions would be dead :P
For Meteion, she can assume any form with any aether thickness she want (remember back in Elpis when she manipulated her aether so it became so thin than nobody can detect her but us?) if she can turn herself invisible I don't see why she can't turn herself a little smaller. You know for easy, less awkward conversations. Imagine if she's just giant and have to look down on us the whole way while saying random depressing shit like omg talking to you gives me sore neck thus we all must die, no more unrelenting despair from a forever sore neck...yeah that'd be awkward

@@ShadowNinjaMaster93 Well, the former Azem. She relinquished that spot and the seat was given to a successor who remains, as of yet, unseen. The WoL is the reincarnation of that Azem, while Venat became Hydaelyn and doesn't really go by Azem anymore. Azem is like a title she gave up and passed unto another. Venat was her real name and Hydaelyn became her new name after she turned into the planet defending crystal goddess.
