What makes me so mad is that i genuinely tried to deny him what he wanted, a good fight. Because i genuinely hated this guy and knew that the only thing he truly wanted was a good time and i was here for a long time

I remember doing this dungeon for the first time blind at launch and seeing Shiva show up to help during Amon. I thought my best friend (who was playing SMN) pulled her out somehow as a level 90 thing, but once I realized what was happening I popped off with near-unparalleled levels of hype.

I remember this moment from years ago; my thought was like: FINALLY HE LEARNED TO ASK and it took only 3 expansions!

The fact we CAN change history with time travel...proof being *Shadowbringers* happened means Venat was not bound by the rules of time travel. She could have made a difference and chose not to. She did not tell anyone about the cause of the Final Days, and murdered her entire species, condemned all others to extinction to Meteion, and sat on her ass for 12,000 years waiting for us to be born so we could solve this problem for her. I'm glad I doubted this absolute psychopath. She committed genocide on her entire species, had the means to find Meteion, didn't share them and never tried to stop what was happening. Yet it's framed as a sacrifice. The Ancients have creation magic, they could make a spacefaring vessel in a DAY. Don't even try to say they can't fight Dynamis. Aether is stronger and it was Ancient's creation magic that allowed us to overcome Meteion's ultimatum in the first place. Zenos could also break into her nest with a similar Aether density to an Ancient, so it isn't that. I know this isn't intentional on the writer's part, but all of these facts paint Venat as not a saviour, but a complete and utter maniac, worse than Emet Selch, worse than Zenos, worse than any other villain in this entire game. I only regret that we didn't get to ever call her out on her bullshit outside of the first cutscene with her, because now us, as the Warrior of Light, played a part in this genocide by doing nothing in spite of knowing we CAN do something.

Coming back to it I’m still shocked how hard this scene hit me. I thought Moenbryda was cool but her death didn’t sadden that much. But this really got me

I like how Zenos went from "my enemy" "my friend" to just "my friend" when he was longer part of the empire.

Zenos was a warrior at heart...a lost soul without a person in the world to care for him. He laid a path of destruction everywhere he went just to see if he could feel something from it. He then found somebody that brought that spark of life back to him (WOL) and then eventually lied in wait for the moment for the final moment to finally live the way he wanted. The fight with Metion was great and all but this here was the final boss to end final bosses. In the sence of FFXIV this felt like the true end of this game. I played the post quest stuff but after that i just stopped playing. This felt like a fantastic end of an amazing journey playing through this game. Due to my work schedule and normal playtime i played this game almost entirely single player minus when i needed to fight the bigger bosses. I found a respect for Zenos from a warriors standpoint. This was a great end but I hope maybe sometime in the future he comes back. Dawntrail wasnt an expansion for me. Ill come back and revisit the game in another expansion or so but in my mind Endwalker was the official end to an amazing game. Well done to everybody that worked and developed this game over years.

This entire part made me so happy, and cry a LOT. The first and only time I was on the same page as Zenos. The only fight I willingly pit against him. The thrill of it, the joy... He was absolutely fucking right. I live for it. XD

Gonna be real here: Bro helped us save creation itself, I was MORE than happy to grant him his final wish. And, honestly, I've always liked to think that Zenos's final speech is him talking about how in another place and time, we could've been friends, and he could've been a different person, but that this ending was so much better than the alternative before we showed up. We were basically the sole thing this guy considered worth living for, and I'm happy he got his peaceful ending, able to reincarnate with no regrets.

It's been like 3 years, and I revisit this video once in a while. When Bloewyda grabs Urianger and asks him if she knew how worried she was for him, I still burst into tears. Amazing.

Endsinger and Zenos both reflect nihilism with different outlets. It's such fascinating narrative, I love it. What I love about Zenos is that he genuinely considers you a kindred soul. He only sees a warrior who's constantly fighting stronger foes and getting stronger for it. At least, that's all he cared about in StB. In EW, he finally realizes (even if he doesn't understand) that other people have reasons that drive them forward. Here, he reaches peak development. It's through his understanding that he goes out of his way to save you and help you, and it's through his one trait you both have in common, that desire for more challenge for the sake of it (oh how many times have we dove head first into savage blind?), that he finally appeals to your adventurer-self that he finally gives you reason to fight him. You can walk away if you want, he won't stop you, but can you really pass up on a challenge?

By the time I got to this point in the finale, I was EXHAUSTED, physically and mentally. I ran the whole of Ultima Thule in a single sitting, finishing The Dead Ends and The Final Day before (And dying SPECTACULARLY alongside friends who were still on to see me to the end), and was running on fumes and sheer force of will, didn't get to bed until 2:30 am, and woke up next morning at about 9:30. I was a GOBLIN the entire day following, until I got home from work and just CRASHED.
