    Followed your video and your hands-on advice worked perfectly. Using a Jackery 300 with the resmed 11 with the humidifier on I get 6 hours or slightly more. With the H2O off, I get 8 hours or more. This is for those power outages that happen occasionally here in west Texas, usually no more than four hours once or twice a year. Thanks for the advice and well-made video. I've been CPAPing for 11 months. It saved my life. Hadn't slept well for three years. Cherio, Mate!

      you only get 6 hours off a 240Wh battery? on my resmed S9 with a AIMTOM 155Wh/42000mAH i would get 20 hours. Does that mean the Airsense 11 uses much more power? Or this hack with the adapter is not optimal? It appears Resmed now has an adapter ResMed AirSense 11/ AirMini DC Power Cord for the EXP Battery but it is like $165 CAD.

    One advantage of the DS 1 is that they run on 12v DC. It was actually this fact that steered me to the ds1 over the as10 initially (in case of a mains power outage). Thank you again for advocating for patients again!! 🍻

      You are correct that the Airsense MINI's plug will not fit an Airsense11. However... The Airsense11's plug WILL FIT THE AirMINI.
      What kind of magic is that, you ask?!?? The two plugs (and their respective sockets) are only different in the corner chamfers. The pinout is the same. The plug and socket chamfers prevent plugging the 20w AirMINI ac/dc adapter into the Airsense11. Resmed designed it that way because the Airsense11 needs 65w, and the 20w AirMini ac/dc adapter is insufficient. However, the Resmed 65w Airsense11 ac/dc adapter will work on BOTH the AirMini *and* the Airsense11. The plug fits both, and wattage is sufficient for either of them (more than sufficient for the Mini).
      The Resmed "Airsense Mini DC/DC Converter" is also 65 watts, just like the Airsense11 adapter, and has the same "high-wattage" plug as the Airsense 11 ac/dc adapter. That means that the Resmed AirMini 65w DC/DC converter will work on BOTH the Mini and the Airsense11.
      Like @Juan P Hernandez, I have been using the AirMini 65w dc/dc converter with the Airsense11, and it works flawlessly.
      The only complaint I have is that the Resmed DC/DC converter has a fixed low-voltage cutoff of 11.4v, as measured under load. Depending on the load, the battery's resting voltage will be higher when the load is removed -- and thus the converter tends to shut down sooner than needed, leaving unused capacity in a deep cycle AGM battery. The home-brew solution for that is a 12-to-24v boost converter that accepts input down to 10v, a separate low-voltage cutoff relay that can be set lower than 11.4v, and a custom cable job like you did in this video. Cheers.

I looked into this, and for us Canadians, this is about $20 cheaper then buying the proprietary plug... So instead of chopping off the AS10 connector, you could leave it attached, and make a Y cable, that would work on either the AS10 or AS11... or Mini, if you can find the right connector for it? Or does the AS11 cable work on the Mini?

    • @youtuberculosis6267
      @youtuberculosis6267 2 роки тому +1

      So I bought the wire kit, and if you do chop off the AS10 connector, the other wire in the kit converts the AS11 connector back to AS10! But it would be super to find an adapter to go the other way, from the AS10 to the AS11 connector, rather that having to make one.

    Nice work Nicko. Is anyone aware of any batteries that can be left plugged in to the wall outlet and only kick in to run the CPAP machine if a power cut happens in the night? I.e. a UPS that would work well with CPAP and power it for a night or two if the power runs out?

    • @youtuberculosis6267

      I did run as AS11 from a solar generator, so a UPS should work, but most of them make a bloody screech when they switch over to battery. Only some of them can have the screech squelched.

      G'day mate, that AirPro 360 can be run inline and if the power shuts off it just keeps running. Don't know how healthy it is for the battery cells having constant current running through them all the time but it certainly works. I think it's probably best just to keep it in the top drawer though as it only takes 1 second to plug in. This one even has a torch on it haha. Cheers

    Hi Nico, thanks for the valuable info in your videos, just a thought but to use the 12 volt supply with the newer and older unit why not just file the edge off the end of the input plug so it fits the other/ both sockets rather than buying and soldering another one. Sorry if I have missed something basic and made a daft suggestion, this of course assumes that the power supply output is suitable for both units.

It looked like only the outer metal sheath at the corner would need removing to allow the plug to fit the socket and it would still fit the original socket. A few measurements would prove or disprove this.
