This is PHENOMENAL! I'll definitely be making a similar bath, same materials; just slightly taller. Bye bye Amazon and your $50 plastic ones! Can't wait to get started. THANK YOU SO MUCH! 😊
We are so happy that you found value in our video. Its comments like yours that really make a difference. Stay tuned for more content as we are working on a DIY plant stand / bird feeder / table video.
Just finished making mine! Your instructions were easy to follow and the bird bath looks wonderful! I like the look of the clay and used a terra cotta color spray paint. I also added a solar powered pump.
Thanks That is a simple bird bath that is so inexpensive and can be made in a day. I would like to see 4 arms extended for attaching plates for bird feed. I am going to try to make one with the arms.
I love the colors❣ If doing a FEEDER though, the bowl needs adequate drainage or the rain will have no place to go but in the bowl with the now soggy seed.
WOW....You guys are really creative. Thanks for sharing your ideas on how to make an affordable bird bath. Please keep up the good work and great ideas.
Made mine (well mostly)! I didn’t have caulk, so I used gorilla glue, fingers crossed it holds up! It also started raining here and hasn’t stopped for 3 days (we needed it desperately though) so as soon as it stops I’m headed out to paint mine!! I used the terracotta as you did, except for the top, I couldn’t find a 17 inch saucer at lowes but they had a translucent thick plastic one that I’m going to glue gems to, and I think it’ll be lovely!! Thanks so much for the inspiration!! 😆
One way to prevent a plastic birdbath from tipping over in the wind would be to bury the base in the ground. Another suggestion is to purchase a square patio brick (needs to be larger than your base) and glue the base to this patio brick. Glad you enjoyed the video.
You dont have to seal the upper tray but if it is made of terra cotta we recommend it because it will absorb some of the water and if not sealed you will need to refill it more often. That is one of the benefits with using a plastic top section.
Well, there's always someone who'll show up to ask a couple of unpleasant questions and make recommendations. Guess it'll have to be me. First, since your "tower" is empty, how will it hold up in a stiff breeze or a storm, like, say, with wind gusts about 30 to 40 mph or more? Wouldn't it topple and crack the terra cotta? How about winter? Would you leave it up? I had a couple of terra cotta pots that were stored empty and they cracked with the changing temperatures in an unheated shed. The terra cotta "peeled" and left splinters. Maybe you could add some stability by filling the base with sand, plugging the drainage hole, of course. It might keep it standing much longer than empty. In fact, you may have to fill that second level a bit to be sure. I've lost a number of bird baths to the wind. and a couple to winter conditions. Actually, my plastic ones lasted much longer. Plastic, however, does weaken the longer it's exposed to the sun. These are just a couple of thoughts based on past experience. I hope you have much better luck with yours. Great video, though. Really enjoyed it. Maybe I'll try one to leave on my little patio under the roof to keep it protected.
You can use what ever size that works for you. The Blue Birdbath has a 18" diameter saucer for the top and a 14" saucer for the bottom. The top one is made of plastic and the bottom is Terra Cotta.
You really need to protect yourself from paint fumes from spray paint, even if you are outside. It's either use disposable masks or a respirator mask. Paint fumes can blow back towards you with a change in air flow from breeze, then you can inhale it, and it might make you ill. It happened to me, and it wasn't pleasant. Safety first is always best!
Home Depot should hire you for their DIY videos. Fantastic and easy to follow. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind words. We really appreciate you.
@@mybloomsource5017 good video .I enjoy it 👍.but I have a question what kind glue or cement is you use ? Please can you put me down link

Good choice with the color. The terra cotta is a good natural, pleasant and relaxing color. Great idea with the solar powered pump!!!
Just bought my supplies today. I plan to assemble tomorrow and paint on Friday! Super excited 😄
@anna Kelly how did you put the pump in?
@@tracydipalma300 buy from eBay solar pump fountain it’s amazing. Just cost $15-20. My kids love watching fountain .

Absolutely love this birdbath 💕 Heading out to Home Depot today! Thank you 🙏
Wonderful! Let us know how it turned out.
My birdbath water is always warm to hot here in Southern Ca, it cools down as evening comes, but during the day it’s really hot
Perhaps there is a shaded area to place your bird bath?
Very good
Thanks
Very nice 😊
Thanks ❤❤❤
These are Terrific

Thank this was great

so cool will be makin these!!

That's awesome. Thank you so much. What about wind knocking it over if you use plastic?
One way to prevent a plastic birdbath from tipping over in the wind would be to bury the base in the ground. Another suggestion is to purchase a square patio brick (needs to be larger than your base) and glue the base to this patio brick. Glad you enjoyed the video.
You could add sand to the two upright pots before you glue
Love this! I'm doing this today!
You got this!
Very nice idea👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks a lot
If you filled those pots with sand before caulking them they’d be weighted down in case it gets windy
That is a fantastic idea!!!
Slow steady strokes and multiple coats with the spray paint. Don't go crazy over and over again
Great feedback and suggestion
Should have visited here first!
I am glad you stopped by
Thanks for the idea. How do you paint the rim for the dish without having spray inside ? so it won’t be toxic to the birds
Tape newspaper inside just below the rim with painters tape so it will be covered and not get painted.
I love this! Great video. What height pots did you use?
You can use any size you like,
I will be making one also. Did you say you had to seal the upper tray where you would put in the water? Thanks for the great idea.
You dont have to seal the upper tray but if it is made of terra cotta we recommend it because it will absorb some of the water and if not sealed you will need to refill it more often. That is one of the benefits with using a plastic top section.
What do you seal the top for the water with? And is it safe for rhe birds?
👍👍👍
Thank you
😎⭐💚
lt so nice thank you you can make water Fountain
That is a fantastic idea. We will see what we can come up with.
Would this work in the shade ?
What size pots did you use ?
For the blue one we used three 8" terra cotta pots, one 14" terra cotta saucer for the base and one 16" plastic saucer for the top.
Is the paint safe for the birds
Don't paint the inside. Also, one person suggested brush on paint rather than spray paint in order to protect insects etc. Was a great idea.

What diameter is the top saucer? Tnku
The top saucer of the blue birdbath is 18" and made from plastic
@@mybloomsource5017 thank you 😄
I was afraid you painted the inside of the saucers but you didnt. Smart! Coz the paint is not food safe and birds are drinking from it.
It's better to paint with a brush than use all that spray, which harms bugs & birds in the area.
This is such a fantastic bit of advice that we may just put to use in a new video, if not a video will still take your advice.
Raccoon always climbing to drink water, i need something more stable. This birdbath good for birds and squirrels.
That is very interesting. Now you have me thinking. I will let you know if I have any ideas as we spotted a racoon drinking from our pond.
Ok you don't paint the inside
we did not
good idea but w t Fyou want to paint it blue? are you woke?
Wanted something to jump out of the garden. The Blue reminded us of a bright color from a coastal town.
Why does everything these days have to be about politics? "blue" " face diapers"? Geesh! I'm SO sick of it!
Nothing dates a video like face diapers.
Very true. We may make an updated version incorporating some ideas from viewers.
