The birds can't really use this...they can't stand in it...too deep. You would need a shallow saucer like under the smaller pot and a few rocks for them to stand on. The spray thing can float in the saucer but it will need refilling often. Good luck. There are a couple of channels where they do birdbath/fountains but off the top of my head I can't remember the names. Sorry. 😔
I really like the first fountain.. it’s very do-able...the second one is really beautiful but I’m older so the gentleman’s version is simpler and I think I will be able to do it..thankyou..!!!!!!
That’s nice and simple, you gave me an idea with the pot tray on how to separate the bottom of the big pot with the upper section. Thanks for the video 👍
To get your holes the right size, use a soldering iron. Draw your circle using your tubing as the pattern. A soldering iron is also great to put holes in pots that don't already have holes or to add more drainage.
Oh goodness, I'm excited about this. A friend of mine made me a water well out of auto tires. I was thinking of what I can place in the well that's not plants. This solar powered fountain is the best 😊
Thank you both for the great video! I think I would personally use a dremmel tool to make a "U" shape in the lip of the planter for the water pumps power cord to rest in the "groove" instead of being in a bind with all the weight of the water and rock filler. I believe over time, it could cause wear in the cord with extreme heat. Water & electricity is not a good combination. Also, I would use a plexiglass cover over my electrical outlet to prevent splashes of water to my outlet 🔌🚱😳😬
Agree with the drilling a small notch for the cord in the bottom most tray. 🙂 For piece of mind I think I might add two bricks to the bottom pot, one to the middle, and a half to the top one (and maybe on the top tray). I know water (& rocks) are heavy but we get some weird critters. They knock over things many times their size / weight! I couldn't tell from the video, but you said the water spills over the edges, yes? That makes me think of two possibilities. One, use lava rocks around the edges, this may allow butterflies and bees a safe place to land and drink. Two, you might just be able to squeeze some 4inch pots around the lower two edges at least. They may need to be wrapped in something (landscape fabric?) to keep the dirt out of the water. Something small and water loving. Watercress, creeping jenny, basil (?), chives (?), ... I'm sure there's many others but its way past bedtime lol, brain not working so good. So I'll leave it at that. 🙂
Oh wow!!! I'm 8n love with both of them. Love to see there's solar pumps. I need to order a few & get busy. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us!! Much Love ❣️🤗🌷🌹
Was it being solar powered this would make a decent mosquito trap. The fountain would be off at the time mosquitoes are most active so they could lay their eggs in the water and then the daily agitation would keep the larvae from hatching, or you add a anti-development chemical to the water. I think I would plant the bottom pot and offset the top pot though.. the second fountain would also look better if each level was offset, I would do one to the right and the other to the left
so simple and effective, love it. I didnt realise that you could get those fountains with spacers, I had one in my bird bath but it just kept draining all the water out over the side.
I sure hope you asked your stepchildren for permission to drill a hole in their Darth Vader alarm clock. My oldest son would have had a heart attack over that!
I just found the solar powered feature with spacers on Amazon in under 30 seconds. Mademax was the brand name and it's very inexpensive. Awesome 😎 I can't wait to order this and try it out!
Lol the second one I would put tropical water plants and top it with a volcano then have led lights that made the water look red, orange, yellow even blue and green to look like it's erupting.
While watching you make the first fountain in video, I noticed your very creative bench in the background. It looks like cinder blocks and wood logs. Very creative with the basics. Are the bricks held with mortar? So cool.
What fittings did you use on the lamp post. Mine are just the glass fixtures so I have to use old lamp threaded pipe, and use big washers and the nut to secure the glass i run the tubing through the brass lamp pipe to hold it firm. The pump is at the lowest level. Then pipe through another lamp glass fixture through three of them and the tubing tubing the inside all the brass pipes. I keep thinking there's something out there that would make the connections of lamp piping. Every thing has to be frabrcated. Because every glass globe or whatever I use has a different size opening on top and bottom. I go through so many boxes of parts to make one of these. All so different but the usually crystal big and bold. So I can see all the features in each lamp globe. Hope this makes senses. Any ideas on fitting. I love you idea I looks really nice
I bought one of those fountains once. They quit working if somebody even walks between it and direct sunlight, if a cloud passes in front of the son, anything. When they say it needs direct sunlight to operate, they are t kidding.
Hey that bench in the background cought my attention ... did you make a video on how you put it together? Because I can't find it ,I really like how it looks it'll be my next project =D
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE her fountain!!!! She has great ideas!
🐦 the birdies on my balcony would be tweeting mad for this! Absolutely Brilliant loved the solar-powered option 👌

I like the rock and lantern you did the best. But like you said, your imagination is endless.👍⭐️
I'm doing this. Omg. This is the best hack Home talk has ever had!!!!!
Wow super! I love that Solar Powered Fountain in the first project... Amazon, here I go on the search 😊
Ok, yay, Amazon has them 💃
Do you have a link for this pump? I can’t find it. TIA
@@patriciadavis229 You can go directly to Amazon search. Hope you find it.
Those are such awesome ideas!! You had me at Darth Vader, love Star Wars. Thanks for the great ideas, and directions.
What brilliant people!! Thank you for the informative and helpful video!!
Love it!!!! I'm putting these everywhere!! Backyard and front yard. By the grill, by the green house, love it ❤️❤️❤️
it's a dangerous set up to have all that weight on top of the pump cord.
@@possums1010 - Perhaps she is referring to the solar pump? It's a wonderful idea!
We just signed on a house. Planning a garden out front. This will be a perfect center piece. Thanks.
Congratulations!
Congratulations 🎉
Wow, you have taught me something new today, I must find a space for a water feature like this. Thank you.
I really like the first fountain.. it’s very do-able...the second one is really beautiful but I’m older so the gentleman’s version is simpler and I think I will be able to do it..thankyou..!!!!!!
I just bought a house in a very dry climate. This would be the perfect thing for me to do on my patio out back!
Can you give a link to the solar fountain pump? I need that
It's on Amazon
Seriously tell us which one this is

I agree 👍
I got one, lasted a couple weeks then it was incurably clogged and died.
How exciting! Awesome teacher and idea:))
That’s nice and simple, you gave me an idea with the pot tray on how to separate the bottom of the big pot with the upper section. Thanks for the video 👍
These are fantastic ideas and tips! Gotta try the water fountain ⛲
I also love the bench at the back, the fountain is perfect
Such a great Idea! Love It!!
This is so beautiful!

Thank you! So much easier than how I was doing it!
You can also use a hot glue gun tip- just take the glue sticks out. The heat of the tip should be enough to create a hole in plastic.
This is something I never knew I needed and I CAN'T WAIT TO TRY THIS
Same! I'm thinking one for front yard, and one for back deck...
I absolutely love this DIY! Can't wait to try it. I'm thinking one for front yard, and one for back deck...

It is inexpensive and a wonderful feature. You'll love it.
@@GoodlyEarth Yes they are and my goodness, beautiful ones too that come in different colors 😃
Oh my goodness thank you so much I wanted to create a water feature using solar this is brilliant. Blessings 💜
That's Awesome!! Thank you for the idea.

Awesome gorgeous outcome!
For the first one, maybe you could put some plastic floating flowers and leaves on top of the water to cover the tubes. Look pretty.
I love these directions. I purchased the solar pump from Amazon. These directions are so much better than the printed ones that were included.
I bought one but it’s solar. I noticed hers is a plug in. Is that the kind you purchased? Thanks
1 would use moss and ferns to make my fountain look beautiful
That is an awesome idea!
I have ferns, awesome idea!
I luv that first planter the best. Something ez I can do myself.
I bought that from amazon. It’s great
Nice I love the lantern also
Awesome ideas! I will definitely be trying these out so thanks for sharing!

A tiny bit of liquid soap also works well to slip the hose onto the pump, or run hot water over the hose.
Great ideas, thanks for sharing
what an amazing idea. thank you.
Very pretty, I have one from a few years ago..I have it the bird bath.
Oooh great idea
Thank you 😊 💓
Unfortunately our sun out here in the Mojave desert just eats those little solar fountains for lunch! LOL
Such a great idea, now I have to go to Walmart..
for the 3 tier fountain the lady makes, i have a question- How do u keep the saucers in the 2nd & 3rd pots from shifting around?
Great hack!!!!!!. Wow.....💯%
Where did you purchase solar powered water fountain?
I just checked. Amazon has them and many more... What is it that Amazon doesn't have? Lol

My spacers were lost in my move. I am using cut bamboo skewers for mine now.
Wonderful thanks for sharing!
Nice video. How much work to keep it clean?
Liked the first fountain but not the second one.
I love the first idea..thank you
where did you get the solar pump?
This is a great video.. Thank you for sharing.
How do u keep clean and mosquitoes away
There is a product you can buy from Ace to add to your water, it prevents mosquito larva from forming. It is safe for animals.
Love them both , great idea's
Thank you, that's really neat!
Where did you get your solar fountain
These are both great ideas. I would like to
know where to get the solar pump? Right
now that would be the best option for me.
Hi Debbra, you can get them on Amazon. Model number AS01A

THIS IS WONDERFUL BUT WHERE DO YOU GET THE SOLAR FOUNTAIN?👍✌
Great idea
Gorgeous DIY project !
Quick question, what's up with the rebar looking rods, in between the stone ?
Yes, I was wondering the same thing!!
I might use a frog topper & pebbles 😊

First one - solar fountain - great
Sources for at least the pump would be very helpful. 😊

I think this is the best quickest, cheapest low maintenance waterfall that I’ve seen so far! I’m looking for something with one percent maintenance😅
