As a diehard Ash fan, I've been loving Horizons so far.

The pokemon and character interactions in Horizons are so fun to watch. This season got me to pay consistent attention to the anime again.
So here is my thoughts. I feel the reason why I enjoyed Horizons is that the series seems to have us see the world through different perspectives. Ash's persepctive was the typical shonen kid who wants to be the very best and strongest. He wants to be THE pokemon master and train.
In contrast, I love how subdued Liko is yet she does have a heart. For me I feel the reason why the Pokemon world feels a bit too unrealistic is that the world is filled with simply catching pokemon, battling for badges and become champion. What about other trainers and their experiences. The reason why I loved Pokemon Adventures a Pokemon manga spinoff series is that the characters are allowed to just not be the best. For example Green the Manga version of Leaf from the video game is a literal thief who is like Catwoman. Or there was also Sapphire the manga version of Hoenn's May who's a lireral tomboy, while Ruby the manga version of Brendan is actually a fancy man who loves Pokemon contests. I wish we had more trainer experiences and see what is like as a pokemon trainer but luckily Liko is a great take on becoming a trainer.
In Horizons, Liko only decided to explore the world out of circumstances. She just wanted to get Sprigattito and that's it. But when she stuck between the Explorers and Friede's Team, she has to join because she has Terrapagos a pokemon that must be protected by evil. Unlike Ash who wanted to become a trainer Liko had no choice...and I like it.
And it's such a breath of fresh air Liko isn't your typical genki character in animation. I feel the reason why I'm so burnt out by a majoruty of female characters is that they're adorkable and happy it's too much. I feel it's kind of "insulting" our modern heroines are forced to be so happy go lucky rather than dealing with different characters. Why should we enjoy the adorakble if they're just dorky and annoying and too childish. That's why I wished we had more pessimistic or insecure female characters because as a woman myself I'm not as upbeat and I'm more anxious with myself. As well as dealing with social interactions and paranoia. That's why I feel validated by female protagonists such as Liko, Hazel, Marcel and Asa Mitaka because they're just like me FR.
Anyways, I like Liko and Sprigattito. Unlike Ash and Pikachu where they became too similar, Sprig is more adamant yet unlike Pikachu it internalizes its self esteem issues. And because it FINALLY became Floragato, the cat seems to be hiding more of its insecurities now. But thanks to Liko's kindness I believe she and her partner have what it takes and I'm excited to see more of their arc.
As a fan of Pokemon Horizon's I feel Liko while she may not be as entertaining as Ash is still a good heroine. I feel Pokemon Horizons at least chosed the latter by having their first female heroine be the opposite of Ash. Rather than being energetuc and naive Liko is unsure and more smart yet is unable to due to her anxieties.
I feel Liko's situation like I mentioned previously in the Elite Four Horizon's video, but it sadly got taken down so I have to reiterate was akin to the Korra situation. Both girls faced scruitnity for for replacing their previous heroes. In my eyes Liko at least is given more time to have weaknesses. Unlike Korra during Season 1. Now don't get me wrong, Korra is the best heroine and deserves more appreciation because she was allowed to develop unlike Rey fron Star Wars. I feel if it weren't for her early cocky/headstrong attitude plus mastering her abilities earlier she wouldn't have gotten more hate. Also I talked how she reminded me of Hazel from Fairly Godparents a New Wish, and that both are characters struggling to deal with self esteem issues plus being passive. They deal with anxieties and that's why I feel the anime had to treat Liko differently. Because if Liko was given Ash's personality, she could've gotten more backlash as being Ash but woman.
I feel it depends on execution. I feel the reason why Jolyne from JJBA and Asa Mitaka from Chainsaw Man two female heroines that replaced their male counterpart get acclaimed is that both series acknowledge their previous parts. Jolyne doesn't mentionef Part 5's Giorno but she does acknowledge her father Jotaro from Part 6. Also Asa is given different motivations to be separate from Denji, bur she doesn't upstage the previous character. The same goes for Jolyne and Jotaro, where even when Jotaro needed to be saved by Jolyne at least both are treated like equals. Now you don't have to do that for leads. Not every story should reference their previous protagonists or else it would be bland fanservice. But if Fairly Godparents New Wish is doing feel without mentioning Timmy, maybe Horizons doesn't have to get Ash appear. Or maybe? I don't know. We just have to wait and see.
Overall I feel Liko isn't disrespecting Ash's legacy. She is herself and in my opinion I love how realistic she is. Ash is lovable but there are times where his static development gets annoying. Especially his moments and kind of being dumb sometimes. I still feel robbed by the Greninja scene. Liko is different and we should understand that. Can you really blame Liko for almost giving up against The Explorers because she's a student and not a trainer yet? Sure, she may not be as exciting to root for but she is given enough. Liko is a good protagonist and I hope she doesn't become like Rey, a portagonist that didn't get enough development because of how her story wasn't given a chancd.
Alota great points here ✅ Korra was cocky af but I did enjoy her character. JoJo I haven’t seen but I’m glad they didn’t go Ash 2.0 it would’ve been just cringe tbh
This. I'm glad they're allowing Liko to be flawed right from the get-go, namely in instances where she's trying to be selfless but her seflessness only ends up getting others angry like that Gym Trainer or even her own Pokemon.
@@730Flare Thanks for your insight. I have a tendency to comment too much so i'm glad you agreed. If Liko was your action girl I feel nobody would care for her and say she's too much like Ash but female.
I also feel it makes sense why Liko acts like this. Liko's show is more story driven yet also relaxing and friendly, in contrast to the episodic formula Ash had. Liko being insecure and doubtful on her abilities works. We would understand more on Liko's perspective and in contrast to Ash her arc is more relatable and understanding.
Horizons has great potential but I see it struggle with handling a different formula than the seasons with Ash
It's a bit slow paced and arcs you'd want to see explored more get two many separate episodes between them, such as Amethio's, or the terastal debut arc which while having some of the most enjoyable episodes so far felt like an after thought with the way it was introduced and how the research for Lucius' other Pokémon was put aside
I think the writers may have struggled with how to convey Liko's character in the spot of the MC but it's slowly coming together
I think Horizons is all things considered a good serie, not great but more for how it was delivered rather than what it tried to
It actually reminds me of an old animated serie I used to watch as a kid called Huntik, with basically a similar structure to Pokémon horizons: an old belonging of a relative to the protagonist sets the story in motion with him ending up as part of a crew opposed to a secret organisation that hunts down legendary creatures for no good
Pretty much the first season of Pokémon Horizons but with a different mood
Huntik was really good, it's a shame they canceled it to push more Winx Club... I miss the old Italian cartoons 😢

Ash fans are probably the same who would call out the plot armour for every time he won and the same who'd want to see ash lose to a level 5 quaxly even though they'd complain.
Basically, there was no point in keeping ash around anymore.
If he wins = plot
If he loses = ash is bad/plot.
Xyz really changed the anime for the worst even though it was one of the best series. Some characters felt really rushed and with little, personality especially serena.
With horizons we can see a real evil organisation but it still lacks with some cool matches but it's matter of time.
Horizons characters don't seem too much rushed and i hope we'll see them grow evenly.

Almost every season of the Pokémon anime since X/Y has been an improvement on the one that came before it. Horizons has been no exception.

Listen, I like Ash but I don’t want to go back to the old anime. I really love this new one.
Pokemon horizons actually has a soul and care put into it unlike journeys where its all wasted potential and more plotholes then swize cheese
Journeys and the Galar region in general deserved better

I think those people who use MLP as comparesion is to insult us who enjoy HZ, because people who enjoy MLP (especially man) is brony and these peoples have so many drama, but not all brony is bad, i have brony friend who like rainbow dash because she is flyer, and he love jet stuff before MLP, but yeah...
On instagram people spread misinformation about HZ, for example only showing the clips of fuecoco defeating rayquaza while in reality none of them defeating rayquaza, saying that rayquaza is weak while in reality it still able to battle even after receiving ton of super effective damage + tera damage, the MC get easy mode because they gonna have fully evo starter?... So what? Except pikachu, none of ash non fully evo are on the list of ash strongest pokemon, which mean the writter tried to not making plot armor BS in the battle

The way this anime is connecting with gen9 videogames is really cool! I stopped watching the anime a long time ago, Horizons has made me feel the same as when I watched the first seasons of Ash.

ill admit this series kinda fell off for like 10 episodes in season 2 but my god they picked themselves back up and began delivering what might be the best anipoke season in recent history
my only real complaint is how moltres and lapras were handled moltres especially is a hot mess

I mean I enjoy it. I am not a big fan of the filler but that goes both ways. Neither one I was really a big fan of but when they have what development it's pretty decent. But that because probably cuz I was younger and every so often me and my parents cable went and go so I couldn't consistently watch it during Battle frontier, diamond and Pearl, and black and white. And the only way I managed to watch Pokémon was old. Jonto , Orange Islands, Kanto at an old relatives house who had cable .I do have to admit, especially at that Castle. That was quite interesting. It's definitely something different. I enjoy it so far. That can always change. Heck, even my mind about the ash anime could also change. I mean it changed when I finally saw sun and moon And journeys it can constantly change. I wish some characters have a little more focus like the goth nurse Joy look alike.

I grown up with Ash for a long time, until S&M.. there was literally throwing up the hopes for more but they wanted to run it out again for other 6 whole years... Horizons was finally what I wanted to enjoy again the anime. I played the recent games and had good time with them even if sometimes weren't the best, the manga is the GOAT and was a way to see pokemon more cruel and violent. Pokemon it's rising again after 25 years!

Okay so I'll be honest, I've shown a lot of negative bias towards Ash solely because of how poorly written he was in Journeys, and I DESPISE Mary Sues, but if you consider the series as a whole, Ash is a good character.
And even though I really like Riko and Dot specifically, I feel like he deserved better. Journeys was truly awful and the "conclusion" to Ash's character as well as Team Rocket was pretty bad.
It was basically "Ash is still travelling and Team Rocket is still following him. That's not a conclusion. Well uh actually it is, but not a good one, not for Ash after all this time.
He should have stayed for one more Generation. Make him go to Paldea, write his character, the story and the other characters properly, make him meet Nemona because it's a missed opportunity that they will never meet considering how well they would get along.
And then give an ACTUAL ending to his travels and to Team Rocket, maybe with a climactic battle against Giovanni or something where Team Rocket finally realizes how cruel he really is and turns around, helping Ash out, and openly for once.
Only then we could retire Ash, after he's given a proper conclusion and replace him with a new protagonist like Riko.
Journeys was handled horribly 😭 as far as his send off It was solid, maybe a bit rushed but a small dramatic Giovanni scene would’ve been better than how they did TR

If I didn't make it clear enough, I HATE Journeys Ash. He's an insufferable Mary Sue and you'll never hear me say he was a good character in this season.
But Ash has always been a terrible character since the beginning of the anime, the creators wrote him like a player avatar or an isekai character 🤔
@@spinotikus1518 No that's not true. At the beginning he was failing often, and the people around him always made fun of him. But as the seasons went by he slowly became better and better, and earned the respect of his travelling companions.
Well at least until the Gen 5 reboot which sucked. Then Gen 6 was good, Gen 7 too from what I've heard, but Gen 8 was really bad. Just as bad as the Gen 5 anime.
