The Pokemon anime has always had a problem with filler episodes which was especially a problem in journeys because of the world travel formula. Horizons has the same formula but removes almost all filler episodes and if there is a filler episode then it is intended for character development or backstories
I’ll take development over filler always ✅ we’ve been spoiled with it so far
same formula with the XY. XY filler episodes rotates between clemont, serena and bonnie or their partner pokemons. like heck, what is clembot? and why give episode to clembot? then at the peak episodes you found yourself emotional for clembot's sacrificing itself to save clemont and the whole kalos region.
No it hasn't because pokemon has no filler, that's pure misinformation.

Horizon's filler episodes are pretty good. Not only the serves as a break after important events such as a gym battle or Explorers encounters. But they add small character moments and development.
For instant, Episode 36 (Operation Perfuton Friendship) Dot started to open up herself by asking Liko and Roy's help with a viewer to find a tag partner. This also hints that Dot could join our duo in a more active role than being on the sidelines.
So many people are upset about magical leaf being spammed is weird when we had Pikachu spamming thunder/shock/bolt and quick attack for at least whole region.
But any it's nice seeing someone actually talking about this new season.
I believe Pikachu used those moves way more creatively and thanks somebody has to 😅
You know why they ain't complaining? Because those were 20 years ago with no second protagonist

I love how this series isn’t afraid to show Floragato’s flaws.
It’s pretty interesting how they show what seems like nothing more than a negative attitude is really just them trying to hide their insecurities.
It could be possible they’ve dealt with being neglected in the past.

One obvious thing is Sprigatito/Florgato started listening to Liko way sooner than Ash’s Charizard did for them.
Also I don’t think Sprigatito’s possible neglect situation was as extreme as with Charizard’s was in the past as a charmander.
In one of the episode shown that when she was still sprigatito, she has strong combat potential that she scared her fellow pokemon in the place she was raised with when she try to save one of them.
It makes her doubt herself to go all out and holding her own potential in process, and from the few latest episodes we can conclude that she is very jealous of Liko's attention to her other pokemon like terapagos/mibrim(now tebrim).
This is matched even more with floragato's pokedex entry that said it tend to get their trainer's attention iirc
The twist that the Pendent that Liko started with was Terapagos the whole time was what actually got me for this new Anime.

I would argue that Floragato represents older siblings instead of only children. I've been watching this with a group of friends and those of us, myself included, who are older siblings saw ourselves in Flora. Handling little baby siblings while learning to be a team player, but also your caregiver giving you that much needed attention was cathartic in a way, as some of us never got that sort of care of reassurance from our own upbringings. It was a bit of a tear jerker and I loved it a lot

Hatenna falling and flopping around in the mud after JUST getting cleaned up with one of the cutest/dumbest things I've seen a Pokemon do. Florigato had to learn to flex her big sister muscles here... though Terapagos has been around since the invention of the automobile and Hatenna was probably scampering around that forest, living in fear, since before Liko learned how to read.
And for some reason it still evolved. Undeserved.

I like Ash and Liko for different reasons. They both have strengths and flaws, and tbh if they ever teamed up in the future, they would be absolutely unstoppable. The ultimate tag team.

This was a fantastic episode imo.
I always love when the plot focuses on Pokemon equally than on their human trainers. And seeing their team build trust little by little is always good.

In my opinion, I’m more extroverted, more like Ash or Roy, but man, Liko’s personality is pretty realistic, and the character development between her and her Floragato is really good. I really like Liko as a character. It’s sad watching people whine about the anime because “Ash isn’t there”, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. They just refuse to watch it because he isn’t in the anime anymore, so they just end up hating on it without even watching the first few episodes

That is the thing that many people overlook about filler episodes. Sure, they lack the stakes of more plot-centric episodes, but they also have more room for character interaction and development that will pay dividends later on in the series.
This is such a great way to explain their relationship!! The filler episodes also don't feel too fillery at all- it's really nice seeing them develop the characters in a variety of ways :O

Liko is so relatable to me,I never related to ash at all. Liko being shy and socially awkward is super relatable to me because I was like that as a kid. And Im an introvert which makes her really relatable

Tbh I never really liked liko and her stupid introvert personality so I stopped watching the anime. Ash was so much relatable especially when you first play a Pokemon game where you don't know anything about. then you watch ash do the same thing which is so relatable, on top of that I'm not an ghost who likes to stuck in a room, I'm an extrovert and I know how to socialize with others. and that's what ash exactly does,

...I'm legitimately afraid of what the evil team is going to do with Terapagos. Because we all know they're going to get it, there's always a lowest point in each Pokemon Anime season.

Liko has plenty of potential to be a great character. I think she's definitely more interesting than Ash, partly because I think female characters are usually more interesting than male characters, and partly because of her relatability. I do wonder if her story will be told in Horizons entirely, or if she'll remain the main protagonist in the next series too.
Thats the big question, hopefully she's here to stay for a while

You know the question you had about what she even put down when the two were so incompatible got me thinking. What if she lied? Not in a malicious way mind you. But in the way people masking issues often do: providing the answers people think they want to hear so that they seem normal/fine. It may sound silly but as someone who did engage in that kind of behavior you really do wind up acting in all sorts of ways just to seem normal and keep people from worrying about you. At my worst I even tried to lie about what I wanted to eat to be more "normal". So when someone fills out a quiz like that and gets someone that incompatible with themselves as a partner it raises some red flags for me.
You might be right,like remember when she fought Wakaba and lost on purpose because she thought it was the right thing to do. Lmao I think everybody’s done that “eating normal” thing 😅 fun times
@UmbreonxUmbreon Er "eating normal" is not something most people do. It's also potentially detrimental to your health. Such as the time I, with my tomato allergy, didn't want to "look weird" or "demand special attention" at a class pizza party and ate pizza anyway. Luckily my allergy is minor so I didn't need a doctor or anything but that was an uncomfortable afternoon with a lot of trips to the bathroom.

hearing people write off horizons solely because ash isn’t the main character anymore is wild to me, because i was *in the fandom* for the period between the dppt and xy seasons- and it felt like everyone at the time was begging for a fresh new protagonist and for the writers to move on from ash already

I feel like this episode was lazy. it was just the same plot as a few episodes earlier “farewell Sprigatito?” Which only add a few things and yet people love it, so I think this episode is overrated

@@UmbreonxUmbreon honestly, yeah I just wanted more from this episode. i’m not trying to be a critic, but I have high expectations for this next episode, and I hope they do better.
They definitely aren't filler and much less the same episode. They're both used in different ways:
In the first one, the important thing is that Sprigatito hurt Liko by accident. After Sprigatito hurts Liko using leafage, she remembered what happened the last time her attacks hurt someone (the friends she grew to care about started to get scared of her and distanced themselves from Sprigatito) and it's because of that reason that Sprigatito was ignoring Liko (she thought that it was the beginning of the end for their relationship like what happened with the other sprigatitos and didn't want to get even more attached to Liko out of fear that she'll also was going to start being scared of being hurt by her, just like the other sprigatitos that she grew to care about did and that ended up distancing themselves from her). Liko reassured her that such thing wasn't going to happen and that they'll always be together.
In the other episode Floragato already understands this (Liko even shows that she isn't bothered by occasionally getting hurt by accident by her several times which is consistent with the previous episode). Here the important part is that Floragato gets annoyed by not having Liko's attention because she also needs to take care of Terapagos and hatenna.
And by babysitting terapagos and hatenna, Floragato also managed to understand Liko's responsibilities a bit more. Overall a really nice episode that developed even more Floragato and Liko's bond by being consistent with the previous one and making Floragato understand Liko even more.

I reaalyy want liko to actually earn her pokemon the pokemon trianer way sure im ok with gaining their trust and i dont wanna hut u cowardness but if liko keeps doin that pokemon is gonna get boring 50% of the reason people watch horizons is because liko and sprigatito is cute together and show the opposite of ash and 50% because some people for some reason find liko relatable. But i cant blame liko shes dogwater at battling (imagine i have to explain why)
