ATTENTION GIRLS WHO ARE TOO SCARED TO USE A TAMPON:
It’s okay. I used my first tampon in sixth grade when I first started. It was maybe my fourth period...? Idk, but I was scared to GET DOWN THERE you know, so the tampon ended up really weird and sticking out. It was super uncomfortable and hard to take out. But then, six months later I tried again. And you bet I used my hands that time. I went through seven tampons before I got it, and when you get it right, you don’t feel it at all.
Point is, tampons aren’t hard to use.
Sorry if this was weird, I just wanted to help girls out there who are too scared to use tampons.

Congratulations! I also couln't use a tampon when I was younger and I always felt kinda weird because all my friends could do it. Suggestion for the next video: teaching my friend to use a menstrual cup for the first time. Girl, if you think tampons are amazing, your world is going to change when you start using one. I'm typing this with one inside of me right now and I don't even remember i'm on my period. It's easier to insert, it lasts way more, it never leaks after you find the right size/model for you, and it lasts up to ten years or more, so think of all the money you'd save and all the waste you wouldn't produce! Best thing ever! Congratulations on knowing how to use tampons :D And congratulations to Steph for doing something so nice for Michelle and for all the girls and women watching this video who can't use tampons and would like to. Keep up the good work girls :)

The underwear are a game changer i love the them and they are super sustainable. They are especially good on heavy days as another level of protection for a tampon.... definitely worth the money!

You’ll be fine. Your vagina stretches naturally. I felt like I couldn’t, but just relax and push it in. It CAN go in, but you aren’t allowing it to, because you are tensed up.
Relax and don’t think about it. Also I don’t recommend standing becuase I did that fro my first time and it didn’t go in the right way but the next time I tried I sat down and oh lord it was so much easier.

for the people scared of tampons:
don’t worry, i’m twelve and have used them for all of my periods. it only hurts a TINY bit for the first 1-4 times on your first use of them. it’s fine, i promise :)

Mackenzie you can, but only if you know your sleep schedule. You have to sleep for less than 8 hours. Also I took a nap for my first time wearing them and I was fine.

My best friend has never been able to use tampons. I've tried helping her and teaching her how to do it properly and giving her tips....but it genuinely makes her uncomfortable and is painful for her. She is 25 and is sexually active. And it still bothers her to this day. Everyone is different and that's ok. Just do what is comfortable for you.
Anyone who is struggling and needs tips, here's some good ones. Make sure you insert it all the way in. Sometimes if it isn't in enough you can feel the tampon at times and it will be uncomfortable. Also make sure you buy the right size. If it's your first time trying tampons just start smaller, I like regular myself, but everyone is different. Also I usually still put my leg up on the side of the bathtub, it's just easier and faster and more comfortable to insert that way. Also they have great tampons from Costco from the Honest brand that are free of dyes and chemicals that are usually found in most tampons, which is nice for your lady parts. 😎
I'm 25 also and can't get a tampon in. My bff tried teaching me. However, I've never had sex. I'm waiting til I'm married. But that's not why I couldn't get the tampon in. It was just really difficult for me to figure out how to do it properly. I definitely thought of giving it a second try. I don't wanna have to sweat anymore on a hot day when my friends go swimming and I can't go in the water. :(

i think tampons are only really painful when not inserted all the way up. first time using one was hurting so bad because it was not in "deep enough". maybe thats why its painful for her ☺
Suggest she tries a Menstrual Cup... not just ANY cup though... she should learn how high her cervix sits and investigate brands/sizes etc ... there is a quiz on putacupinit.com/ and if she answers that as best she can it can give her some recommendations.... I find tampons totally uncomfortable as well but I am loving my cup... I've never been more happy to deal with my period as I am now. (P.S I'm 29! lol)

Well they did to me too. But I tried it yesterday because I wanted to swim damnit! Anyway, I just felt pressure when putting it in. It felt weird. And if you put it in right, you will feel nothing. If it’s uncomfortable when you sit or stand or do anything, then you put it in wrong. Leave it in from 4-7 hours. (I suggest 7 cause the first time I did 5 and when I pulled it out, it hurt because it was half dry. You need to have it fully covered if you don’t want it to hurt). Also, don’t leave it in for 8 hours or more, cause you could possibly get this toxic syndrome thing. It’s rare though so don’t try tampons cause of that. anyway, there’s nothing to be afraid of. Relax, maybe watch something while you do it to distract you. But make sure to WASH YOUR HAND BEFORE AND AFTER, cause you have to touch your vagina when putting in a tampon. Like, you hold one end thing and then when you touch your vagina with the two fingers, you push the applicator up so where the tampon is in the right place. Hope this helps or helped!

Here just to ask women why they flush tampons down the toilet (even if there is a separate bin just for tampons)? I am ripping them out of drains often. i am 16 years old and the first time tried to put in a tampon it was so painful I cried, it was terrible, I never did it again until an important event came up where I had to swim in a pool on my period, when I finally managed to get it in I could feel it inside of me, it hurt each time it moved and I was miserable for the entire day, it was especially painful to take it out as it was expanded to the maximum size it could become. To this day I never have worn a tampon again but I wonder if I should try again, I'm still a virgin and I'm planning to stay that way until I get married, but I'm worried that my first time with my husband will be unbearably painful and he and I will be disappointed. when I tell this to my mom she laughs at me and tells me that I'm being silly and dramatic but I am honestly afraid. Has anyone else had this experience? how do I get through it?
try it again! i remember when i ised my first tampon i cried because i was so terrified of shoving something up there but then i did it multiple times and it worked. you shouldnt feel pain pulling it out. its kind of like a band aid where you just rip it off without thinking so just pull it out without thinking 😄😄

The first many time I tried, it was so painful, and I couldn’t get it all the way up ( you have to pull it really long up, then you won’t even feel it ).But I just kept trying, and now I’m almost always wearing Tampons. The reason why it hurted so much to pull it out, could be because it was still a little too dry.
You also have to get the tampons in a size that fits you. I think the smallest ones you can get is “Ob mini”. I think they work really well for beginners. Then you can shift to something a little bit bigger later😊.

Period Story:
My brothers and I were getting on the bus. We got inside of the house and we changed into our comfortable clothes. My brothers were sitting on the couch and I was sitting on the coffee table, and we were laughing and joking. After a few minutes, I went to the bathroom because I had a Sprite earlier that day. After I got into the bathroom, I did my business and wiped. I felt weird as I was sitting on the toilet and I just had this weird feeling to wipe. So I did. And the I saw a bit of blood. My first thought: Eh. This is natural. (I didn't know what a period was at the time. and I was 8). I got out of the bathroom and called my mom. I told her that I had blood coming out of me and I didn't know what to do. She said I'm on my period and that she'll be home soon.

I’ve used a tampon once in 30 years but you inspired me that it’s worth it to try again.
The first time I used a tampon it was the short applicator type, where you pull out the plunger, then stick it in, and you are suppose to push out the tampon, obviously. Well. I didn't get that. I just put in the tampon plastic and all. Left it in for a few hours, it leaked (of course), and I never tried again. Till a few years later, and I actually ready the instructions and slapped myself on the face.
I taught my self by reading the tampon box. I only started using them for swim class. I use tampons in the day and pads for bed

Pad- you can feel it, it is sticky and gets stuck to your vulva, it smells bad, unhygyenic, wet, leaks, makes sound, you need to change often, big to carry with you, you need to wash yourself everytime you go the toilet, you cant wear slim jeans, you cant swim, you cant do sport.
Tampon- it doesnt smells, move freely, swim, run, jump, do exercises, its smallyou can carry around you, you can wear everything you want, hygyenic FORGET ABOUT YOU ARE ON YOUR PERIOD

Actually you should get a Ruby Cup. One they are made out of a nice silicon, and two for every Ruby cup that is bought one Ruby cup is give to a school girl in Africa. So she can go to school without having to worry about having menstrual products that month

i just wanna say quickly,
i am 13 and am on my third period so far and i tried tampons the first couple times and it was scary and hard but i watched multiple videos and finally wanted to do it. i went in the bathroom and figured out which size i needed and got ready. i actually did it and once it was in i don’t feel it and it did kinda hurt going in but now it’s fine. it shouldn’t be painful though but definitely uncomfortable or hurt a little.
make sure u wash ur hands before and after and take your time. nobody is rushing u

Laura Roney I remember when I first tried it I was scared that it was in me (lmao) so i tried to get it out after like 30 minutes and that shit HURTS because it was still dry ofcourse. So my tip: dont try and pull it out too soon because it'll hurt if it's still dry lol

Menstrual cups are waaaay better. They can stay in you for up to 12 hours. They don't dry you out. They are made of medical silicone, and they are not full of chemicals.
You only have to buy them once and they last up to 10 years.

ok.. im 27 and NEVER wore a Tampon! as Michelle I tryied when i was like 16 or soemthing and it HURT really bad, and couldnt put it in. so i said myself well i cant use that. also my dad is a ginecologist and he says that if you arent really carefull with times and stuff its more easy to get infections than pads. i think im more respobsible now. And MAY try it. Way to go Michelle!

I helped teach a friend how to put in her first tampon. The first one she ever tried, Instead of using lube she just got it a little wet to make it easier to get into position then she tried again with a dry one. Tip: if you get it half way in and can't get it all the way...don't try ripping it out dry...get a cup of water to help you dampen it before pulling it out. Otherwise...ouch.
