I feel like Akala works so hard and doesn't have the level of fame or recognition that he deserves.....:/
Life of an independent artist.
Nah he's said in interviews he's been at awards ceremonies with people like Jay-Z and Beyoncè with his sister but felt like the celebrity life isn't for him and would rather live normal. That's why he invests in loads of businesses and properties like his hip hop Shakespeare company rather than his record label :)
I love Akala !!! I am Romanian and I think his message is international, that means he is what a real artist is supposed to be! I love the fact that he's got a philosophy behind his art. One that is deepened by his indefatigable mind. His truthfulness is more than inspiring! Thank you Akala!
Since Lowkey left the game, Akala became the best UK mc..Real as you get!
Will the same struggles ever unite us? This is a class issue, and I'm so tired of fighting for closed eyes and hearts.
yh thats fair enough, i just like the fact akala that akala, makes people relate to the topics of his songs & raps, but hey you cant deny, lowkey & akala on one track is sick :)
if you aint found nothing to die for you've never lived!
Loll that's you're opinion..I respect that you have heard of both and like them...For me lowkey's album is a classic...No one can take that away from him even tho he retired.
BEST IN THE UK RIGHT NOW
I agree I just gravitate to akala more because I shere his fasination whith world history and the social sciences. The actual base structures of how society's can be structured .he selobrates cultur and highlights the good and bad parts of all of them and recognises how ideas have traveled and understands how the world has got to where it is today .and he gets that weather your great grandad was forced to pick cain or dig coal the same people profited and stil do. Yet thay devide us to this day.
You obviously have not listened to sound track to the struggle album. Greatest UK rap album PERIOD.
Sadly yes. He retired shortly after releasing his classic album 'soundtrack to the struggle'. Basically he was getting a lot of pressure from the 'police' or MI5, his house being raided and such. Suppose his lyrics were too real and he was seen as a threat. He may come back one day but for now, he's out of the game, studying at UCL. I know he will be back one day, but for now we just gotta keep real UK hip hop alive by supporting Akala and Globalfaction.
the way akala has developed as an artist over the years shows he has come to a realisation as he's gotten older. Comparing his mixtape "the war" or "its not a rumour" compared to his new stuff like "double think' just shows this
Akala and Lowkey = fav uk rappers
The best is back
Respect brother! that album changed the whole game up. Shame not many people heard it
Since I been born...Till i fucking die! COYS!
Run, tell your friends that Akala said it :D Love this man 'New driver but we got no brakes' - what a metaphor
YES YES!!!!!! Goose bumps!!!!!
Akala big fan of yours, especially your talks and debates. Recently watched a Saul Williams interview on the breakfast club (you've prob seen it) where he talks about the music being hard enough but the lyrics aren't saying anything or the lyrics being hard but the music side lacking.. I like most rap (a lot of g shit not gunna lie) but id like to hear you on "harder" beats so to speak with the same message... I know you've progressed with the live band and all that but I think that's why your FITBS get so much love as well. The music gets people in then the lyrics kill them off if you get me.. I like most of your tunes anyway just saying it'd be good.. This track is big BTW
not just strong lyrically..band is quality!! loving the sound
one of your newest with real lyrics, stick to what you're good, because this is good!
Mic Righteous !!!!
❤❤❤❤❤2023
i agree man, soundtrack to the struggle changed the way I listen to rap
🔥🔥🔥🔥
great
can't wait to hear the studio version of these tracks on the album
This is such a thumping tune, with such mad content!
Has Lowkey left the game!?
If you aint found something to die for you've never lived!!!!
killed it fam!
Such a dope track. Love the fact that Akala works with bands so often. I feel they should be more commonplace, especially at shows. A more wholesome experience all round, for both the audience and performer. Elemental power!
Can't wait for "thieves banquet". Definitely gonna buy it as soon as it's out.
Great track.
Back for more.
Flow
Thumbs Up-☻☻
Live anthem Right Here-
Listen, Now Act on It. we all only have one life here...♠♠♠
Wow that is sad. Or maybe good for him - I guess he kinda missed out on Uni by getting big so young. So maybe he'll study and come back later. Bit suprised he didn't go to SOAS! We all loved him there...
fantastic!!! so looking forward to booking him for many shows. YAH Bless!
Akala been around for ages
I've seen him at SOAS lots, whatever degree he was doing, not sure if he's done with it now or not, it was actually at SOAS.
💓
haha right after listening to this I repeated that phrase, at the exact same time I found myself reading your comment.
truth
Tell em Said said IT
Na I'll never forget Lowkey.
Akala is just as great in his knowledge and lyrical skill; they're both unique. Not sure why I say that, might be since their interests and intentions are slightly different - Lowkey didn't talk about slavery as much as he did foreign policy, war, and economic issues at home, in the UK.
Might be because of their ethnic background.
Also their flow/pace at which they rap is... different.
I agree with you. You're point being?
Nah. He was always the best.
Don't know whether I agree
and the culture of peace grows and silently kills all opposition covering the world on a blanket of boiling peace......... . . . .
play video with the auto generated subtitles. this must be wat old peaple and the ignorent hear
if this is an acurate english transation...Then. well gees i must have just droped my cookie. wana help me look up into the sky for it, 21st century logic says if u drop it it has to go up before "it must come down" and being so full of hot air who'd ever wana come down..
how so..
I'm open to ideas, so how does colour separate us then? Are we not still human beings
Who is better?
When lowkey returns there must be a collabo between you to
best political probs but wouldn't say he's just the best nobody is really too many good mcs from all over the UK
2pac said it
wtf? only 2k views?, fuck the mainstream 4 real
Not really, his mother is scottish, so he is mixed race as much as i hate that term. But reading your comment, please explain Rage against the machine to me then.

Akala, it would be great if you could publicly address the fact that jesus was black simply from scriptures and cut the racist fact dodging everyone keeps doing about his tribe
not flat out better but round/on that level imo caxton press, manage, mic righteous, rhyme asylum, beyond average, leaf dog, shotty horroh, klashnekoff, krept&konan, jaja soze....no1 is flat out top imo maybe just bet at flow or best lyrics not just best.
his 'white' side? We are all humans lol, there is no separation
not being funny but personally i think Akala's better than Lowkey in all honesty
