Everything Akala is saying about education and the many different ways in which we can all learn is so important and 100% correct.
I found the formal education system so difficult to continue learning from after I received the fundamental basics.
I would really recommend a book called, FRAMES OF MIND, the theory of multiple Intelligences, by Howard Gardner. It really explains what Akala is touching on hear with this clip.
Thank you for all the knowledge you pass on Akala, very much appreciated mate. 👌

I wish more teachers were like him. Education is power. School is hugely important - stick with it - never quit - this is a game we are all in, play to win - education brings opportunity and YOU have as much right to that as anyone else of privilege. But education is MORE than school and it does not end when school ends. Keep learning, challenge your beliefs, always ask questions - those who can’t or won’t answer you are of no use. Read widely,
join your public library, tell the librarians what you are interested in and they will set you right. Be careful of the internet - it’s full of mistruths that are easy to slip into. Arm yourself by becoming Information Literate,
learn about information literacy, learn to navigate the inaccurate by learning about citations, evidence and cognitive dissonance and how we form opinions - there are traps in your head too. - Again, your librarian will help you there.Travel and meet and experience different cultures and people. You will soon see we are all one and the divisions come from falsehoods, spread and propagated bypeople who you can be sure do not have library cards!

Putting this on repeat, thank you for reminding me how rich and cultured my upbringing actually was. Would you please (if you haven’t already) talk some more about Toussaint l’Ouverture? And in a separate question, will you speak to the nature of shame? I know its meant to keep one in their place long after the shame-giver is gone. What are some ways to rid it from your own head? If I could give one gift to the future, it would be how to put shame in its proper place, including the gifts it gives, if there are any. Thank you, sir.

Interesting point. Shame is indeed used to keep people in their place. It's only if we alleviate poverty can we eradicate shame, and let people do what they want to do, as long as they are not hurting anybody.

We should not rely on the state system providing the level of education we need as people of colour.
Look to the Indian people, in all their manifestations, their kids go Saturday school, and it isn't all about religion, I'm sure other cultural and historical teachings will make up the learning.

I greatly admire your intellect and the depths of your unbiased analytical mind to assess the political, economical, and social status of our global civilization. I was wondering if you are aware of the knowledge recently come to light, which is namely that most of us so-called “black” people were ALREADY here in the Americas long before Columbus and European colonization? If you are not already familiar with these individuals channels on UA-cam then you should acquaint yourself with Dane Callaway, Kurimeo Ahau ua-cam.com/video/9RHQ3rVtP-E/v-deo.html and Medicine Man, just to name a few.
