Here's an April fools idea, stealth patch all the APFSDS' to be the actual gun's caliber, length and mass. Really want to see people burst out laughing why their tanks are flying backwards.
2:49 That's actually a really great demonstration of how gun stabilizers work. I'm gonna use this video every time my friend asks me why I complain when my tank doesn't have a stabilizer.
If my math is correct the calibre needed to fire a 120mm sabot is 626mm. So basically a bit more than the calibre of the Karl Gerat, but less than the Dora's 800mm calibre. I say we can do better.
well it still discards the sabot because the game treats it like a discarding sabot fin stabilised round, which is 626mm and after discarding the sabot it's 120mm. Even though the barrel is only 120mm, the game can just ignore that fact. If the game also accounted for the increase in weight and made it not be a discarding sabot, the fins would need to be removed for it to fit in the 120mm barrel, but the round would have a much smaller muzzle velocity
Huh... this is remind me to SprengGranate 4861 (Sprgr 4861) It was a 31/12cm High Explosive Fin Stabilized Discharging Sabot round, and one of the round German test on Krupp K5 railway gun This experimental variant of K5 use 31cm Smoothbore gun, and testing various PPG round (Peenemünder Pfeilgeschosse), usually PPG round are HE, but this gun also have 31/17cm Semi-AP round Oh yeah, PPG type shell also test on 10,5cm and 12,8cm Flak (also with smoothbore), German just need to turn this round into AP and they got APFSDS in WW2 lol 😂
Gaijin hasn't accounted for operational fracture. Composite usually get sacrificed for each part it gets hit. The vid shows that if the first area bounced, the others are treated like water being repelled.
0:05 it's not actually a "Gun caliber" because in E-100 (for example ofc) we got a 12,8/88 Panzergranate.TS And in stats we see : Caliber : 88mm which means that is technically an APCBC-HE(??)-CR (because of (HE) explosive filler and CR for smaller caliber than gun itself) So yeah, it's just Stats issue or just how actually game calculates (and damages) the caliber system of APFSDS
it would be incredible funny if there was full caliber APFSDS but requires longer cannons and extremely strong charge, and the fins expand AFTER barrel exit
Realistically it can't really be saboted. Also, there is no more space for powder, so your speed is pathetic. No fin means no stabilization. As a result, shooting thing like lamppost wouldvallow projectile to flip a lot. But it's still either Tungsten (Easy shatter) or Uranium (Acts like dirt on reduced speeds).
