I'm Newcastle-based and remember when the Citaro G ("bendy buses") came onto this route in the early 2000s. It was a massive deal as there were very few articulated buses in the country at the time and these were the first ever in the North East. Kids (not just bus fans)were going through to Gateshead to have a ride on the 'bendy buses'. 😄
Actually the first bendy bus for the North East was a European DAF Bendy as a demo before the Solar Fusions had arrived. The Citaros arrived in roughly 2011/2012 and lasted not that long actually
Great video! Not sure if it's intended but the graphic at around 12:31 it states that all 4 are on the same number plate lol! Have to say the yellow one is my favourite.
Thank you and yep it was supposed to be 51/52/53/54 but I was rather tired when I typed it up aha so my apologies. I do agree the yellow and blue combo does work very well!
@@AndMoreCentral Went to Deltas, DAF Prestiges, Solar Fusions, Mercedes Citaro G, Streetlite and now the B7RLE's. Another 2 set to be repainted which will be 5509 & 10
I do not like e-leather seating. You slide about on that sort of covering and if the weather is wet, people can transfer water from their coats to the seat and thus the next passenger sits on a wet seat.

Update: The X66 has gone retro with 'Super Shuttle' coming back in a Modern Look on some Enviro 200MMC's!

@@BetaSpirit Nope, apparently 3 Spare Green Arrows will be painted into the Metrocentre Shuttle livery.
@@Kingeta ah nice!
@@BetaSpiritwell that did not happen 😂
IIRC the X66 was initially ran by Leyland Nationals in the late 80s, then Optare Deltas in the 90s.
Ooo I bet those were the days, must say though these B7RLEs don't do too bad on the route

Aye thats very true, this move to fabric by GNE and First South Yorkshire to name just a few is definitely better
