- In this video, we are performing a video comparison of the Insta360 One X2 versus the new Insta360 X3. We are taking a look at stabilization, video detail, and color in both 360 mode and in single lens mode. With single lens mode, you can have in-camera stabilization or in-app stabilization. The X3 definitely handles in-camera stabilization better, the footage is smoother and more flowing.

The quality is not a huge leap to warrant an upgrade. You are one of the very few who has NOT pushed owners of the X2 to just mindlessly go out and buy this,.I THANK YOU for this, and i am sure so many others. All the best.

I just see the 4k60fps as better, not really a fan of a bigger screen as it can eat more battery.
The x2 is $299 and the x3 is $404 currently in the US
@@casperd2100 I finally bought the X3 after I sold the X2...now that I have it, there are a couple of options that may warrant an upgrade. One is active HDR, which significantly improves image while retaining highlights and shadows, the other are all the options you get, plus 8 k time lapse.
Appreciate the comparison video mate and good to know that there’s no need to rush out and upgrade from my One X2 as I’m happy with the current quality in my snowboarding videos.

Whilst I understand that the 1 inch dual 360 camera has 2 1 inch sensors, would you say that the difference in video quality between the x3 and the dual 1 inch is massive or not really, and also does the x3 72mp photos look massively better than those of the 21mp dual 1 inch 360?
Also which would you choose between them both for general daytime use overall (no nighttime videos) ?

Thanks for the comparison. If you´re not upgrading just deciding which one to buy, what would be your choice? I like the warmer picture but I guess I need top stabilization for a motovlog

Hi Sean, good video! The X3 is a lot sharper than the X2. Also the single lens shots on the ebike, looked like the X3's video was slightly cropped compared to X2. I guess this is how they are able to get better stabilization.
Thank you. I also use my X2 photos and video for 360 viewing with VR goggles. I found scenic 360 shots on mountain tops, etc, struggled due to the resolution couldn't deal with the and the large distances. So the image quality was poor. Have you done any comparisons in that situation?

I watch all your videos and like the professional way you make them. I don't have either one, and to me the 360 is more of a toy to make cute stuff compared to my Go Pro. I still watch for the information so I can make a decision though. I do like the RS-1 and if they made the X3 with a 1 inch sensor I might become more interested.
You should do a video on your bike. I love mine (which was made in the USA) because I can as much exercise as I want, and if I give out, it will bring me home. Some state parks (Alabama) will let you ride them on their trails, so I have a camping trip planed there for that reason.
i have x2 and was looking at go pro 11 for my motorbike closing but it looks hard work don't you have to bang on with where you point it. Also i don't want one on my helmet i like instas idea of point and edit in post.. and isn't the go pro hard to edit how do u point the go pro at your face when riding and making commentary then switch back to showing front riding? Im very confused a is like good audio but have to use Rode wireless go 2 on insta and that can be hard work sometimes
Can the white balance be adjusted on the X2?
I had high hopes for the new sensor. It looks overall a bit better, slightly more details, better HDR. But not enough to spent another 500 Euros after just one year with my X2. I shoot in LOG mode anyway and do the color grading in Davinci Resolve with the Insta X2 LUT. The LUT is way to vibrant btw. Like candy TikTok colours.
where can I get this LUT ?

I have the One X2 but jumped on the RS 360 1inch Edition mid-summer and shouldn't have! As a vlogger the 360 camera is used for very specialized work. Most of the time we use conventional single lens cameras and drones. In my opinion the One X2 is sufficient for the limited workflow for our channel so I might sell the One RS 1" soon... and don't plan on getting the One X3. Thanks fore sharing this! Great comparison. @@chayimashkenazi not sure if they'll be a big difference between the one x3 and the RS with the 1" other than low light performance. One X3 is lighter, more water resistant and smaller.....
The x2 is warmer, you are right. But you are able to change in the settings to become it warmer on the x3? I get the X3 in the next days. Nice video like every time! Please make a video about your e-bike. 😉

I do like it. Wishlist:
1. test microphones do think there are 4 now. way better sound.
2. is there still a mic were the lens guard sits. ? water issue. Looks like mic is moved
3. Runtime on the bigger battery. Did say 81min ? that's nice.
4. workflow. Like i use 500gb and want 5*5min cutout. How is workflow, stitching time. No1 ever talk about it.

my biggest grape with X3 is the overexposing,..very pronounce in that Aussie duee video. but also 4:00 a tad more vibrant on X2, while X3 also got a siginificantly more greenish tone, on skintones on X3..
Did you try to change the placing of the cameras, as it look like one on the right (/X2) is way closer to your left hand, that again and again comes into the picture, 5:19 while the other X3 seem centered in the middel,, with no hands in the frame.. the closer you have a camera to the cenetr of mass (middle of the bicycle) the less vibration .
did you try to flip the position just to make it equal as the X2 seems to be out on a limp and not as centered.
Did you compare the crop factor in these stabilized situations?.. if you pause at 5:09 and the dip in the road just in the middel of the line and also look at the top with the tree.. quite a bit been axe'd.. it does look like X3 is more cropped in, and useally the con when stabilizing.. and could also be what perhaps is cheating me, with the hand in the shoot and none on the right.
but generally.. been thrue enough cheap action cameras & drones.. that I just got a bias against that hazy blueish grass-& tree look at the bottom on the right 6:32 where the warmer look on the left, I find more pleasing and more saturated warm-colors... also why I like DJI colorprofiles' that often is to the warmer side, then the likes of FIMI or Zino variants that often is quite blue & green heavy...
Its very clear if you pause at 7:32 - reminds me of cheap CN action cameras from years back.. that had that blueish tone... and dont agree with channelholder' that this blueish-look is more natural, quite the contrary.
and +20% more weight, not least with a tad bigger battery, is quite a bit, if you plan to take it for a flight but maybe the extra +31g weight can help it to stay more steady in flight.
out of the box..i liked the X2 footage better, from the warmer colors and more saturated sky, but would definately pursue the 360-1inch. as that aint a toss.. quite a big step up from X2 or X3.
the socalled single lens mode (non 360-mode) is not something I would pursue with either X2 or X3, as it doesnt look good.. they can call it 4K on X3 and record it in that but nahh... the actual native res. is obviously a fraction of that and a GoPro from numerous seasons ago, will do a better job..- its the 360 mode, that is bread and butter of these cameras.
also worth noticing the socalled 72mpix i a gimmick on X3, and down to the old segmenting each pixels into 4..socalled quad bayer.. same we saw with DJI air 2 and its 48 mpix.
X3 is 18 mpix.

I have X2 ... but it is third camera. First 2 had focus issues on one of the lenses and was replaced by Insta. Quality control of X2 was bad. Now my X2 is very sharp, and I make comparison with X3, and my copy was better. More details, shaper. Maybe X3 which I tested was bad copy. I don't know. I saw some tests where other users report that they copies of X2 was better than X3 too.
For me only one lens mode is definitely better in X3... but it is not massive, and it has more processed noise - less noticeable.
For me - if You have good copy of X2, don't upgrade.

Thanks for the great video and comparison. To me the 360 comparison looks very much the same and no upgrade needed towards the X3. From a single lens mode, i would like to use a gopro instead. Why buying a 360 camera if you just use single lens mode? Then there are better solutions and tomorrow gopro will launch the gopro 11. So for a 360 camera the improvement is really almost not visible. Next as owner of the one x2, you would need to purchase all new accessories since nothing will fit the X3. So the purchase is a lot more then only the camera. Next Insta has not offered an attractive trade in for the One X2.....will wait until later this year, Gopro will launch the gopro max2. Lets see and wait what this camera will offer and improve for 360.
I can see the difference, was thinking if i want to have it more gradient i can just adjust the light for x2.

In my opinion, yes there are a lot of worthwhile features that make it worthwhile but I guess at the end of the day it’s all going to depend on your budget
dynamic range is better on first video for x3.
Did look like the color did shift a lot
First x3 was way to vibrant, x2 did look natural. Then it shifted wile walking. x3 got that naturel look.

quality is super bad for 2022.... gopro10 iPhone 13 Pro. DJI pocket or go 2 much better but it old versions....

How I wish Insta360 made better editing software instead of coming up with new camera so often.
It’s ok comparing them with each other but you didn’t compare with your eye, there was a lot more brown foliage from the x2 was this accurate, the comparison is useless without knowing.
