Dude, I always love your stuff and it inspires the heck out of me to go out and use all of my 360 cameras more often! What I love about this video, though, is your open concession that you still screw up periodically despite being one of the biggest names in the 360 world. Staying humble and, not only learning from your own mistakes, but sharing those mistakes with all of us so that WE may learn just puts you above so many of the other creators and educators on YT. Thanks for all you do & share and keep up the amazing work!
Thanks for your informative videos! My Fam is headed out on a Caribbean cruise this weekend. I'm looking forward to getting some cool shots with my 360 camera. 😁
Great tips. Is active HDR also suitable for recording fast movements, e.g. when on a bike or when filming from a car? My understanding of HDR is that for each frame, 3 shots are taken very quickly in a row, but there is still some movement between, so when combining the shots there might be a problem. At least this is how I know it from photography when using exposure bracketing.
Amazing Video, thank you`Really awesome, that helps a lot! What can one do against the flickering? Adjusting the fps and checking it again or what would you recommend?
Sometime we forget how much effort the Vloger put into his video to make it easy for us to watch and learn while enjoying. Thank you so much Ben. As always you are amazing.
Thanks, Liked & subscribed. Quick question - I scratched a lense :( Is there anything that can be done? Bright note, if I didn't then I would not be around, so worth the scratch. Melbourne based, amateur UA-camr. Loving the 360 camera, just shot around 3 hours of footage from New Zealand. Working out how to edit it all.
Hello, I do really wanted to learn how to edit videos, please guide me 🙏 I think you are master when it comes to editing … I bought insta 360 X3 but I am not good how to edit video
I think it's impossible to never make a mistake whether it's with 360 or normal cameras. My mistakes mainly come from the fact that I have to film on the spot, without preparation, without a script. We learn by doing. Thank you Ben 😊
Hey Ben, love your videos! Greetings from 🇨🇦 Found you about a week ago after researching the insta 360 x3. I plan on buying my first 360 camera for my trip to the Philippines / Bali (I don't do action stuff so don't really need a go pro or dji). Which 360 camera would you recommend?
in one of your videos with a useful tips you showed a freeze feature, and it was a snowflake button in your app, Why I can't fnd it in insta360 X3 app? 😪
I got my 360 camera for 3d tours of my listings (I'm a real estate agent), so I've never done 360 video. But if I was shooting 360 videos, I would immediately go out and make all these mistakes right after watching this video. hahaha
Great points, none of them are invalid, just wanted to mention that stitching artifacts aren't a big deal on UA-cam or instructional videos. When I see them, I just think, "Cool! They shot this with a 360 camera!" Obviously for a short-format cinematic, you need that detail taken care of, but in that scenario you might want to look at a more substantial camera anyways, like a DSLR, or at the very least a modern GoPro Hero rather than a 360 camera. Thanks for the great tips!
Hey Ben, I need help figuring out a proper solution for how to securely mount the X3 to my mountain bike to withstand the bumps and G-forces associated. Road bikes are easily covered with accessories from Insta360, but they warn not to use them with mountain bikes. I've looked at many clamps, but none have given me confidence. Ideally, I'd like to mount on the seat post with a selfie stick, off the rear chain stays with the selfie stick, the front fork with either the clamp or clamp or with a selfie stick, and the handlebar. Also, the Insta360 selfie stick doesn't give me great confidence since it's a pressure lock system. I've seen some carbon selfie sticks with a twist lock that appears more durable. The system needs to withstand the force when landing a moderate jump. This is where physics comes in which makes everything more complicated. Do you have any suggestions?
@@BenClaremont thank you for responding just noticed that the studio only do reframing and some editing .. the app is good but to make a video I’ve been researching as I’m a beginner I’m looking into davinchi or CapCut
Great video. Side note, why do you think Google studio took away 360 photo uploads? I understand theres cloudpano etc for uploading to google maps. Do you think Google will take away photo uploads completely, is it leaning towards being so?
Definitely some of these great points not only are gotchas in 360 video, but any video production scenarios. LED flicker is a pain! And I agree that it's not worth risking your gear for cheap mounting hardware. Pay a few bucks more and have some peace of mind.
Is it possible to export 360 video in side by side format? They key piece is that id like for it to work with the phones gyro. If anyone can help that would be great!!
If you see how closely aligned it was ALREADY, in a moving shot like that it would still produce the same issue with the bumping of the camera. Much better fix to change exposure modes like I discussed 👍🏻
Great video as always. A mistake I know but I can't fix is, when the camera is hand held, the jittery camera will cause the footage to look like jello. Wish there was a stabilizer for 360 cameras one day.
Can you tell me please, why on my videos, one parts of screen is darker than the other, when the weather is sunny , I've got insta 360 one x 2, what I can do with it,? thanks a lot.
Hi I’m very new to editing videos and I want a photo and editing software will pay almost any price , just has to be a one time purchase not like adobe subscription. What do you recommend for photos and video. Also will the photo one have AI like the thing that has been trending lately like the one in photoshop Thanks !
Off topic, sorry but can anyone tell me how good the 4K is on the Insta360 X3? I watch many videos on UA-cam where the creator is walking in cities or in some nice outdoor area- most of these are filmed with expensive 4K cameras and I'm blown away with the details even though my TV and computer can only show HD. The quality in terms off details if not other features is far better than my One X. I really can't afford an expensive 4K camera so I'm wondering if filming in 4K with single lens on the X3 is reasonably good? All other things being equal. Assume filmed with care- good lighting, holding carefully, etc. I presume it must be much better than reframing an HD video out of a 360 video, right? I hope so and if so I probably will buy an X3. I guess I'll have to spend time looking for 4K video with the X3. Ben must have some.

My 360 mistake was thinking 360 video was going to be worthwhile. In reality it turned out to be a major hassle to edit, the finished reframed videos looked bad and no one cares about VR 360 video anymore.
At 72, I am a newbie to my 360 camera. Thanks for helping me learn to do a better job in the time I have left!
Happy to help!
On the cheaper accessories that unscrew you can use blue loctite (thread lock) to secure both parts.

Super hekpful! How would you counteract the flickering of the lights on the X3?
Change the shutter speed one up or one down. I dive deep into camera settings inside 360 Video 101- would suggest checking it out 😁

Wouldn't aiming the stitching line (side of the camera) at the low sun give each lens equal sun, and therefore minimize the stitching problem?
