There are fans who will buy it and they know it. I just dislike how bands remaster albums and then stop selling the original versions like what Megadeth did. Those remasters sound terrible and unless you buy them 2nd hand, those originals dont exist anywhere.
No band has coasted on such a small discography for such a long time. Five albums released during their seven or eight years and three (!) albums within the past three+ decades.
Great thoughts. The price of box sets also is a deciding factor for me, and totally agree with you on the Motley EP. My goodness, just feels phoned in anymore. I love J5, I was really expecting some fire (not saying it's his fault at all). Kind of feel like my Motley is no more. I almost wish they would just exist as a historical piece now. Great video. Have a good week.
Between the EP and the box set, it's just one lazy cash grab after another. John 5 is awesome... really like his stuff with Manson and Rob Zombie (dude can play with anybody), but he's just being told what to do. I wish they'd let him unleash a little more in the studio to give the band some life. Have a great week as well!
I am a huge music lover. Music is part of my life, and I am always looking forward to listening to music. Own a ton of cds. Concert dvds and records. These box sets are getting overwhelming for us, the fans. Personally, I have got to the point where I pass on them. Just tried of buying the same album over and over. They are so many other bands to explore with new music. I just focus on them at this point.
I completely agree. I'm mostly a completist with the bands I enjoy, but I've drawn the line at overpriced boxsets too, unless it's something really cool and well done to make an exception.
It's awesome to see this generation enjoying what I love and grew up on. Sadly I lost everything in a flood 😞 😢 I'm slowly getting what I really love on cds and thats what they call Glam Metal these days but it was all rock/metal growing up and Headbangers Ball aired everything!! Crue Cinderella GnR Metallica Iron Maiden and so on! Today they make all these specialties in cd or record but I just need the cd with the classic songs from my favorite bands. We had the malls with several record stores and stand alone shops but these days there's not many but sadly I can't get out these days due to my handicap so online is my only option and I've found some deals and I've been wanting to grab those cheaper box sets and imports remastered or whatever as long as it sounds good. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Really sorry to hear about that flood. Hope all is well. I agree, we don’t need all of the bells and whistles of a boxset… the album should sell itself. It’s a bummer there are so few record stores around these days… I missed out on the golden age of record stores. Glad you were able to find stuff online for a good price!
First thing I said, it's LAZY. One album, two five song EPs, and a tour book / merchy stuff for 200?? Metallica's recent box set was 250, had 6 LPs, 12 CD (I think?) and 6 DVD, PLUS the tour memoribilia and book. Complete ripoff
Totally agree. If they’re going to charge that much for a boxset, it should come with a lot of material the fans actually want, not a guitar pick and stethoscope lol
@@TheCDGuyJZ hundred percent, where's the Philidelphia show which we KNOW has a full pro-shot? That should have been a full 2 LP Gatefold / CD Digipak as well as DVD. That's an easy one they should have added
I probably won’t be buying it either even though I’m a huge Motley Crue fan. I’m pretty picky about buying box set in general because the prices are so ridiculously expensive. They have to offer something really unique or different instead of just recycling the same music I already own.
I'll probably just stick with my 1999 remasters of the first 6 albums, those versions sound great, have bonus tracks and are way more reasonably priced. I agree about the nostalgia tours, for me it's hard to support a band live if its always the same 15 songs with no new studio album.
This is pretty interesting to discuss here. I keep thinking about how 5 of the Beatles’ studio albums have already been rereleased with a new stereo mix to improve on the original. Those Beatles rereleases are available on CD and vinyl as just the remixed album or in a deluxe or super deluxe edition with all the extras. I noticed in the last several years that they were expensive then, but after some time has passed the price has decreased significantly. For a point of reference, Sgt. Pepper, Abbey Road and the White Album were all reissued from 2017-2019 for the 50th anniversary, while Let It Be and Revolver came out later without any celebration at random. I think that these rereleases with bonus content at hundreds of dollars is really unnecessary at times, but if you like a band’s music so much and you want every version of the album, buy it then. I personally would wait a year or so for the price to go down. You also have to understand that it’s not the musicians themselves who push for the reissues of albums. It’s the record labels that they recorded for originally who want to get them out so they can make more money on sales. The 35th anniversary of this Motley Crue album sounds cool, but not at that price especially if you have it already unless you’re a diehard completist fan/collector. Also 35th anniversary is an odd year for that reissue. It’s not worth the money if it doesn’t have any new bonus material. Just saying. The industry of having concerts is a separate issue, although paying for tickets has the same concept. It costs so much money just to do anything these days. My God. What will people think of next?
I agree. Stuff that sounds cool on paper isn’t so cool when you see the prices lol At least The Beatles are improving the sound on those boxsets, Motley is just looking for a cash grab.
But when a boxet of the Theatre of Pain era? A time full of color and a touch of elegance in Mötley Crüe life. Without doubt it would be a smash for the fans. Imagine all the things it could hav. Even a boxet of the Girls Girls Girls era would be very well received. To me this Dr. Feelgood anniversary stuff is getting to boring. and expensive.

@@TheCDGuyJZThey'll never do it. SATD and Feelgood are their landmark albums. Personally TOP is my 2nd favorite Mötley album behind Feelgood, but they'll never do anything special for it. They see it as a dud.
There's absolutely nothing musicly in the box worth it. Get either the 1999 or 2003 expanded cds for the demos and the 20th anniversary for the live tracks for a fraction of the box set price.
I'm done with Motley. I was the biggest fan of theirs, too. I wouldn't buy this or pay to see them anymore. However, I don't blame the band for continuing on if people will pay them for doing it. No. I have previous CD's with all the demos so the 5 live tracks are what is 'new' in this expensive set. I have a zillion vinyl copies of the album already and for this price it should at least have a full live show from the era included and they also have played the full album live so such a show should have been included as well. Then I would have bought the vinyl box. The price for the 3 disc CD set [the regular album + 2 CD maxi singles, 1 5-track live and 1 5-track demo CD + paperwork] is totally insane. If you're not a fan, why are you here? Nobody cares about your opinion.
@@craigjohnson9929 Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Calm down.
I didn't like that album!! 😮😮
It’s absolutely overplayed. It’s the last one I enjoy before they totally lose me tho
They will do anything for more coin now ike Kiss..
You either retire a hero, or live long enough to become KISS
@@TheCDGuyJZ Well at least Kiss didn't sign a contract saying they would retire like MC did in 015.
Only a fool would buy the new Mötley cruel boxset
I don’t understand why one would unless they’re a super completist with money to burn. I mean, they just did this same thing 5 years ago lol
Another disappointing cash grab by a once legendary 80s band. They’ve been riding on their back catalogue for far too long.
They've been coasting since 1997...
Im done with The Crue
Nobody cares what you do.
