94 self title...the finest songwriting, musicianship, and tour performances of their career. it was a breath of fresh air, and corabi was a beast. swine is the worst...but i have such a nostalgia for the 6 months of hype and lead up to its release. went to tower records in portland oregon back in 1997 to pick it up on release night at midnight. about 40 people were there waiting, and about 10 minutes to midnight, they put the album on over the soundsystem. everyone started looking at each other as we stood in line with a look of shock at how bad it was. by the time it was our turn to pay, brandon came on, and we all wanted to vomit. terrible album, but i have a love for it purely for the nostalgia factor.
@ I'll never understand the notion that Corabi wasn't a star... He gave the band some much needed variety, and I would've been very intrigued to hear more Crue albums with him on lead vocals. I'll never forget the first (and last time) I heard Brandon lol
Pretty good list my man. I can completely understand your ranking. Mine is a bit different as I grew up in that era so I actually appreciate the more "hated" albums as they changed their sound (they needed a refresh in style) and hold up better over the years to my ears. My ranking is: 1. Motley Crue (1994 w/Corabi) - Extremely heavy for its time - would have been more appreciated if they changed their name and came out a few years later. 2. Shout At the Devil - Classic 3. Theatre of Pain - Many people don't like this album (including the band) but I love all of the deep tracks like Louder Than Hell, Save Our Souls and Tonight 4. Too Fast For Love - Classic 5. Generation Swine - What can I say - wasn't a fav but grew on me and was nice to hear them try something different. This was basically a Corabi album without him getting any credit for it. 6. Dr. Feelgood - Classic but I think I overplayed this album as a kid so I it's the album I go to the least. 7. Girls, Girls, Girls - Overrated in my opinion - a lot of filler songs once you get outside of the released singles. 8. Saints of Los Angeles - Not great other than the title track - that one still pumps me up to this day 9. New Tattoo - Not good. Not good at all other than Hell on High Heels.
Great analysis! Totally agree with you on self titled being more appreciated if it were the band under a different name. Good call with Theatre Of Pain… love the deep cuts on this album too!
Love your ranking good stuff! I know at first I started to disagree with your choices of where you put new tattoo, generation swine and the self titled one as I like those albums then I recalled i only like maybe 5 tracks in total of those 3 combined so maybe your right 😂
My ranking is pretty much exactly the same as yours, except I have the self titled 94 album at #3, I love it and it's the last great thing they did. Been loving these ranking vids!
I feel like self titled was the last time Crue really tried… seems to me like everything since then has been on autopilot… Corabi should’ve been given more time with the band IMO. Glad you’re enjoying the rankings… Rush and Type O Negative are next!

1. Too Fast For Love 2. Shout At The Devil 3. Dr. Feelgood 4. Girls, Girls, Girls 5. Theatre Of Pain 6. Motley Crue 7. Saints Of Los Angeles 8. New Tattoo 9. Generation Swine.
Not a lot of Mick Mars playing on swine. You can tell. In my opinion that's what's wrong with their new stuff. John 5 is a great player but mick mars is the motley crue sound.
@davidjackson5818 completely agree. Mick was so crucial to the band’s sound, and IMO the most talented musician in the group. Loved his first solo album.
I agree with your ranking. I saw them live once and by far the worst live band I have ever seen. Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx were awful. The people standing in front of us actually burst out laughing at one point.
My first Crue show was the Theater of Pain tour in 1985. They started the show with "Looks That Kill". The second Vince started singing, my cousin and I looked at each other in horror over how bad he was. It was our first concert and we expected him to sound like the record. To say it was far from it would be a gross understatement.
Unlike most people, I put Mötley Crüe in my top 10 favorite bands of all time. Thanks for the upload once again! Here’s my ranking and explanation: 1. Mötley Crüe (“Shout” and Mötley ‘94 always switch but I think it’s safe for me to say that this is my favorite Mötley Crüe album. As much as I can’t stand Tommy Lee today, his drumming is flat out phenomenal! Corabi and Mick are also great on the whole album. What a dream it would be if they could get Corabi back in the band and perform this album in it’s entirety) 2. Shout at the Devil (one of the best traditional metal albums ever made and it’s unfortunate they never made an album like this ever again. “Sinners and Saints” would’ve fit perfectly on the album and would’ve made it even heavier but I’m not complaining. Solid 10/10 metal album) 3. Too Fast For Love (another 10/10 album. Mick Mars shines all over this album. Some of the best guitar work he’s ever done and I think the raw production adds a lot to the songs) 4. Theatre Of Pain (i always have a hard time picking a favorite off this album but as of now, “Tonight We Need A Lover” and “Fight For Your Rights” are tied) 5. New Tattoo (I thought this was a great era for Mötley Crüe. I know most of the lyrics are cheesy and stupid but I can look past stupid lyrics. “Treat Me Like The Dog I Am” and “Porno Star” are the only tracks I can’t stand. I think if they would’ve added “Timebomb” and “American Zero” instead of those 2 songs, it wouldn’t been an all killer no filler album for me. I feel it’s their most underrated album) 6. Girls Girls Girls (like Dr Feelgood, I would’ve ranked it higher a while back but still enjoyable. “Bad Boy Boogie,” “Nona,” and “Jailhouse Rock” were songs I used to like but they haven’t age well but the rest is great. Should’ve got the bonus track “Rodeo” to replace any one of those songs) 7. Dr. Feelgood (I would’ve ranked this much higher when I was in high school. As much as I enjoy this album, I find it to be a little overrated. This is my least played Mötley Crüe album) 8. Saints of Los Angeles (this sounds more like a Sixx: A.M. album which would make sense cuz DJ Ashba from that band played most of the guitars on this album. But it still has a lot of good songs on it) 9. Generation Swine (this album has kinda grown on me a little but it’s still a very bad album. Based on what Tommy Lee was into at the time, you can clearly tell he was all over this album. But I really put this at the bottom for the terrible remake of “Shout At the Devil” and “Brandon” alone)
Great ranking and analysis! I can definitely hear the similarities between Saints Of Los Angeles and Sixx AM. I agree that Corabi had great chemistry with Mick and the rest of the band.
