    I misspoke when speaking of Everyday Hero with Peni. She is in fact a civilian, I meant to say it’s less interesting for solo play.

    For newer MC players especially: One thing to keep in mind when deck building is that supports/upgrades are great for thinning out your deck. Once you get them on the table, your next cycle through the deck is smaller so you can draw your better cards faster. For me personally, if I need 2-3 cards to fill out a deck I prefer permanents over events, as I may only have to draw a mediocre upgrade once in a game.

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +2

      That is an excellent point! Your hero events are so powerful for closing out a game, the faster you draw them the second time around the better. Thank you for sharing! 👍👍

    I’ve always wanted to build decks in the game but I’ve always been the type to just use marvelcbd cause I get overwhelmed with my huge collection and wealth of options. This series of video however has really got me inspired to try building my own and the way you broke down the steps of building a deck and trying to play off your hero cards really helped make the process seem a lot less overwhelming for me! This video is so helpful thank you for making it :)

      And speaking of pleased, I genuinely was thrilled when it worked out to be Peni. She’s just such an awesome hero, from the theme to the mechanisms. Definitely near the top for me. This was fun! 👍😁 I deck build pretty much the same way. I used to take pictures of my decks before disassembling them. But I found I never went back to look at them. Because I always want to build from my current situation of what I want to play, and what cards I actually own. Plus deck building is so much fun! 🥳 But, like you said, you have to try them out. I still think cards are good, that it turns out I never actually play once I get to the game 🤣

    This was one of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen - but then, I build decks in much the same way. Even as a an experienced deck builder, I enjoyed this as you articulated your thought process very well. I always enjoy hearing others’ thoughts on deck synergies. In the spirit of conversation, I’ll offer a counterpoint to including multiple copies of cards you can only play one of. In general, I agree with you but the nature of Champions makes these duplicates “less bad” than in other games. Some portion of every hand will be spent as resources they aren’t dead cards. I would argue that there are cases where the benefit of seeing the card earlier outweighs the risk that the duplicate will be truly unusable or that it could be replaced by a better card. For example: if Drax could run a second copy of Dwi Theet Mastery (but only have one in play), would you?

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +2

      Oh my gosh I’d run 3 Dwi Theet’s if I could! 🤣And you’re right to say you will always use some cards as resources, though it’s nice to have as many playable options as possible. I definitely think there are a few cards in the general pool that might be worth running extra’s of if they’re crucial to your strategy. Boot Camp and Honed Technique come to mind. Those could easily be one-of’s just to be generally helpful, or you could build the whole deck around them and need to see them as soon as possible to make everything else worthwhile.
      It could also depend on your card pool. Maybe a second Combat Training is better than putting in some junk red event you aren’t going to play anyways lol
      So I definitely think there are some situations where it’s worthwhile. That’s a really good point and I’m glad you brought it up!

    Great video! I think you should give the Spider-Man (Pavitr Prabhakar) ally another chance in a Web-Warrior build. He can remove a good chunk of threat when he enters play, block, and draw a card off Web of Life and Destiny. I don't have the game yet, probably will be getting it for Christmas and I must say, one of the things that had me nervous was deck building.. I've never played games like these before and while I've seen vids of people playing the precon and doing well (that's a plus for a new player, cause I just want to play it first) I do know that having a better understanding of deck building will make the game more enjoyable overall, especially if I play mostly solo and I don't need to have cards for multi... I don't really have anyone to play with so two handed is a little daunting but I imagine you don't want cards that work well for that, in your solo deck. The first part was really helpful.. I didn't think of helping your character by covering weaknesses...
    Anyway, thank you and also, unreleated but what sleeves do you prefer? I've looked at the Gamegenic ones on the site and they don't seem cost effective.. looked at the clear matte gamegenic and that's more in line I think... but I've also looked at Titanshield (read its durable but tricky shuffling) Dragonshield and Sleevekings... (the cheapest) If you don't want to answer in comment, maybe you could make a video on sleeves and storage specifically for the game (like the box you have but I've also thought of using binders)
    Sorry for the ramble, I'm a bit excited to get the game eventually... videos like yours and in the community help alot to grow the game I feel..

      Thank you for the very nice comment! That’s so exciting you’ll be jumping into the game soon!!
      I know you what you mean about deck building being daunting. It certainly can seem intimidating. I’m so thankful this game has done such a good job of making the prebuilt decks perfectly playable to enjoy the game without the added necessity of building from the ground up. And even then, if you just switch out one card at a time with a prebuilt deck that’s a nice way to get your feet wet and make the decks a lot better! So you can really move at your own pace which is so nice :)
      As for sleeves here at Get Up and Game I’m on a shoestring budget lol so I stick to the cheaper side of things. I like the KMC Perfect Fit sleeves because they’re inexpensive but still get the job done nicely. My friends who don’t mind spending a little more on that kind of stuff love the Dragon Shield Matte sleeves. It would be pretty pricey to sleeve a whole collection that way, so some people just have enough for the decks they are currently playing.
      And binders is another way to go as well! If you haven’t seen him, my friend Nelson runs a great channel and he did a video about storage you can check out! ua-cam.com/video/WG2T6DlyhGw/v-deo.html

    I just get anxiety over breaking up the precon decks.
    Once you've done that, how do you keep track of your cards and in which hero deck you last left them? Or do you only keep them together as a deck for that one instance of playing the game? But if that's the case, then you have to spend so much time creating decks every time you play and that just draws out the time it takes to set everything up.

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  8 місяців тому +1

      I can totally see that. My way of doing things isn’t necessarily for everyone cause yeah I do pretty much build a new deck for each play session. But that usually follows a few days of day dreaming at work lol so I already know what the deck is going to be. Plus, once you do it a lot you start to get better and faster at it. I play it 3 or 4 times and then I’m usually ready to try something new.
      But to start out with deck building I would just focus on one hero you really like and try to build a deck for them. Start with their precon but make some changes to improve it. Remove the extra copies of cards you don’t need like the 1 Per Player cards and find other cards that might work better for that hero.
      Play it a fair number of times, maybe through a campaign or just a series of villains, tweaking it along the way. I think that’s a good way to get your feet wet!

      That’s a term that refers to building up one or maybe a couple of allies with a bunch of upgrades like Inspired and Reinforced Suit. Basically you make an ally super strong and then you use cards to ready it and heal it. Works for very well on allies that have good special abilities like Vision or the Captain Marvel ally from Spider-woman’s hero deck
