    X-men update: I know there might be a lot of people getting into the game because of the X-men, and now that we’ve seen all of the cards from the first X wave I can confidently say that if you really just want to play the X-men you can totally just get the Core Set and then go straight to Mutant Genesis.
    Between that Campaign Expansion and all of the following hero packs there is more than enough support to build really solid decks for the X-men.
    From there my recommendations would be similar. If you want more villains, Rise of Red Skull is still a really nice pick up, though Sinister Motives would also be a good second Campaign Expansion if you prefer Spider-man villains.
    After that I still think the second wave of heroes is the way to go for pure deck building cards.

    Another viewer here who also has everything, but I found your advice very solid. I would like to point out for your less experienced viewers that the "Honed Technique" card that comes with Nova can really enhance a lot of those older Aggression cards. For example, from the Core Box, it can turn "Uppercut" (3 for 5 Damage), a borderline card at best, into a "Swinging Web Kick" (3 for 8 Damage) that ANY character can play. It can also turn "Relentless Assault" into 7 Damage with Overkill (although admittedly this is trickier as you HAVE to pay for it with a Mental & Physical resource.). If you have the Ms. Marvel pack, "Melee" can become 3 for 6 & 6 damage, and that's just bonkers! So if Aggression is your style, Nova can do much to enhance it (and he's also a fun hero to play imo.) Keep making the great videos! 👍

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I can 100% see where you’re coming from and think it’s great advice for anyone reading!
      My thinking in putting Nova last was a little more to do with No Quarter and Fluid Motion. No Quarter probably works better in a deck packed full of good aggression cards, and Fluid Motion really benefits from a nice assortment of cheap attack cards. But you can certainly use them right out of the box and still get good value. Plus as you say Nova is just fantastic all around.
      Thanks so much for the kind words and solid advice!

    Interesting take. I thing I agree with almost everything. But I would bump The Hood over Kang. I waited because I thought exactly what you described about the hood but I completely disagree. I should've bought the Hood way sooner. It is super fun and really easy to customize the difficulty by picking which modulars you use.

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +7

      That’s totally fair. I’m going to pin this comment because I think it’s a good alternative perspective that people should see.
      For my part, I went the way I did because I do think a good portion of what comes with the Hood is on the higher end of the difficulty scale, but you are absolutely correct that you can make it what you want it to be. I also tend to like the Kang scenario a bit more, and I’ve gotten the impression that the community does as well. But the Hood is also very fun and I can easily see recommending it earlier than I did.

    Awesome vid! I’m pretty frugal with my gaming budget but I still have invested in RoRS, MTS, Captain America, Venom and Quicksilver.
    The majority of my games are true solo and I’ve been enjoying justice a lot lately. Do you have any recommendations for cards geared toward true solo? Ms Marvel with Endurance seems like a great buy as does Black Widow with Coulson and Counterintelligence.

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +2

      Thanks!
      Yes I would definitely recommend the two you mention, Ms. Marvel with Endurance as well as Concussive Blow. Confuse is a solo players best friend. And Widow with Coulson and Counterintelligence is also very nice.
      Another great Justice card that works best in solo is One Way or Another, and that can be found in Nebula or Spider-Ham. I think Nebula’s pack is a little better, but Spider-Ham is more well-rounded for solo play. But they’re both great hero’s so whoever looks more interesting to you would work great!
      After that the biggest Justice card you would still be missing is Turn the Tide from Scarlet Witch. That 3 damage might not sound like a lot, but for zero cost it’s incredibly efficient, and it’s incredible with Ms Marvel because of Embiggen and her hero response.
      Thanks for watching and I hope that’s helpful!

    I’m just getting into learning the game. What aspect and cards do you recommend for building a good deck for Peter Parker Spider-Man?

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +1

      Welcome to the game! Peter probably plays best in Protection because of his high defense and hero ability. There are a lot of good cards these days that reward you for defending without taking damage. So you’ll definitely want to be using the Armored Vest from the Core set. Indomitable is important too, because Peter really relies on his basic ATK to help deal with minions so he wants to be ready after he defends.
      The Doctor Strange pack comes with a lot of good cards for Spider-Man including Unflappable for drawing a card if he doesn’t take damage when defending, Desperate Defense which boosts his defense and readies him if he doesn’t take damage, and Momentum Shift for dealing damage and healing. That’s probably the single best pack for getting a lot of good cards for Spidey.
      He also really like Ingenuity from the Ironheart pack but unfortunately that’s pretty much the only card in that pack that helps him.
      Ms Marvel and Groot have good cards for him as well, depending on how far you’re wanting to go to boost him up. But at the very least Doctor Strange will help him out quite a bit!

    Thank you for helping out with "What to buy". This is my first LCG and have just ordered the main box to start out. A quick question, can you also mix and build decks for the opponents? To make the encounters change and difficulty? (Yes I am a really beginner in this type of game) :D

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +1

      Welcome to the game! 🤩
      Yes you are able to customize the encounter decks in a few different ways, which is one of the best parts of this amazing game! In almost every scenario when you look at the setup instructions, one of the encounter sets will be in (parentheses). That one is optional and can be switched out for any other modular set you own. So that’s awesome.
      And you can also choose to play the villain on either Standard where you face the stage 1 and then stage 2 versions of the villain. Or you can play in Expert where you face the Stage 2 and Stage 3 versions of the villain, as well as shuffle in the Expert Encounter set. There is also Skirmish and Heroic modes but Standard and Expert are really the main ways to play.
      So you have a ton of control over what you would like to play against! And in the next video in this series that I’m going to be coming out with soon I’m going to be talking all about the modular encounter sets and the best ways to customize the villain! So you’re in the right place lol

    I am skipping the Guardian and X-Men packs and just focusing on Avengers, Web Warriors and Champions. Is there anything that I should buy within the Guardians that I would miss for these heroes? Not sure if this was a mistake but I also skipped Black Widow as I didn't like the preparation card play enough from what I have seen on play throughs. As far as packs left to buy; I am leaning towards Venom (for Justice cards) along with Spider-Ham and Vision. I'd like a playable Hulk and Thor and think I have a good base to do that.

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +1

      I think that sounds like a fine way to go! And yeah skipping Widow is fine. Coulson and Spycraft make their way into decks here and there but aren’t crucial.
      Venom is a great buy for sure. Looking through the Guardians I would say the main things you might miss are Dive Bomb from Star-Lord to go with Honed Technique in Nova, and Clobber from Gamora is just a really solid aggression card. I would’ve said Nebula is a must have for One Way or Another but they also put that in Spider-Ham so if you’re getting him you’ll be good there!

    Question-I really like doctor strange and he’s one of my favorite hero’s to play as but I hate using protection with him so do you have any recommendations on what aspect to use instead and we’re to get good cards for it thanks

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +1

      Yes! I quite like the good Doctor myself so I can point you in a few different directions :).
      First some general recommendations. 2 key heroes to get for him are Scarlet Witch and Adam Warlock from the Mad Titan's Shadow. Wanda comes with Spiritual Meditation (0 cost Basic event that lets you draw 2 cards and discard 1. SO GOOD) and Adam has a new Mystic Spell for each aspect. So those are very nice to have.
      The Cosmo Basic ally from either Star-Lord or Nebula is also very helpful as he can cycle through the invocation deck to get to the spells you want more quickly. Another very good Basic card for him is Earth's Mightiest Heroes from the Hawkeye deck in the Rise of the Red Skull. That can get him extra ready's to cast even more spells per turn.
      Stephen works very well in all the aspects due to his invocation deck being so versatile and so strong.
      In Leadership a really good build for him centers around getting cheap allies on the board and using Strength in Numbers (Captain America) to draw cards, as well as his own spell that puts Tough on 3 different characters. Ant-man comes with 2 very good allies for that deck, Stinger and Hank Pym Ant-man. Maria Hill from the Core and Squirrel Girl from Captain America are great cheap allies as well. Ironheart from Wasp is probably the best cheap ally in the game, and Blade from Spectrum (Mad Titan's Shadow) is also fantastic. But the key packs for that build are Captain America and Ant-man.
      In Justice he can take advantage of Concussive Blow from Ms. Marvel or Sonic Rifle from Venom along with his own Confuse spell to get to alter ego frequently to take advantage of the larger hand size and Sanctum Sanctorum. Also with One Way or Another from either Nebula or Spider-ham he can draw enough cards to help him get to those Master of the Mystic Arts faster. Clear the Area from Spider-woman (Rise of the Red Skull) provides excellent threat removal and card draw as well, and is cheap, leaving room to still play a spell.
      Aggression suits him well because his biggest weakness is minion control. He lacks medium damage events, so you can supplement him with Relentless Assault from the Core set, as well as Clobber from Gamora. With his fantastic villain control (stun/confuse) you can really lean into the damage and go all out. He has access to aerial so the combo of Dive Bomb (Star-Lord) and Honed Technique (Nova) is available to him as well.
      For all of his decks I recommend a healthy supply of cheap allies to serve as blockers as well as good targets for the Tough spell.
      I hope that's helpful!

  • @chrismartin3137
    @chrismartin3137 Рік тому

    Great video. I just bought the base set and Dr. Strange, what do you recommend for a Dr. Strange aggression deck?

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +1

      Awesome! Welcome to the game!
      Doctor Strange in aggression is all about minion control and keeping the threat under control just well enough to blow the villain up with his Crimson Bands and Magic Blasts. You really want to be using those big damage effects on the villain, so you’ll want things like Relentless Assault to deal with the minions. Chase Them Down makes for nice threat control if you find you need more in addition to his Images of Ikonn and Astral Projection.
      As for cards to add to your collection, the biggest one for Doctor Strange is Spiritual Meditation from Scarlet Witch. Cosmo from
      Star Lord or Nebula is also key to help him cycle his Invocation deck faster to find the one you want. You can also find more Mystic cards in Adam Warlock in the Mad Titan’s Shadow box. They’re good but I don’t know that he’s worth getting just to boost Doctor Strange.
      And for just general aggression cards that work well for him, Wasp has Into the Fray which is good minion control and threat removal all in one. Plus she has Ironheart, and Strange likes cheap allies to defend for him when he hasn’t stunned the villain.
      That’s what I would look to for making a good aggression Doctor Strange deck!

    Great video. I'm getting into this game because of the X-men so what course do I take? I have core and wolverine. Do I follow your video from here and go with your recommendations or do I just get mutant genesis and the X-men? Or do I do some combination of the two?

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +1

      Hello! Welcome to the game and to the channel! Ha yeah I kinda knew this video would get a little obsolete the second X-men came out 😅
      If you’re in for the X-men then I would say feel free to get all of that stuff. They’ve done a good job of providing a ton of support for X-men decks already, as well as reprinting some of the important cards from the earlier cycles. So you should be able to get everything you need for a great start into the game with just the X stuff.
      Now I will say the scenarios in the Mutant Genesis box aren’t necessarily the easiest, but most of them aren’t too bad. If you find Sabretooth to be a little too challenging (he’s the first one) feel free to skip him cause the next 2 are a little easier
      And then after all that I still think my recommendation of getting the second wave heroes is solid because of how many good all-purpose cards they come with. And Rise of Red Skull might seem a little basic compared to Mutant Genesis, but I still think it would be worthwhile as well
      So hopefully that helps you out and please ask any other questions that come up! 🙂

    Hi, sorry for the long comment but I really don’t know what to buy and feel like all over the place I got the game a few months ago and bought it with the green goblin, ms marvel, and vision because wanted to have more protection cards, now I want to focus on aggression and justice but I also want some new villains, and Idk what to get, I was thinking maybe Trotrs but I feel like the expansion supports mainly leadership since spiderwoman only comes with like 2 new cards of justice and aggression, I don’t want Sotmt yet and I’ve been thinking about both Gmw and Sm and I feel like the heroes and cards I want more are from the Gmw exapnsion but I’m not ready for the campaing and of Sm although I love the villains I don’t really like ghost spider so I don’t know what to do, any recomendations ? • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому

      Hmmm yeah I see what you’re saying. Everything is sort of out of position for what you’re looking for. Red Skull has good villains but the hero cards don’t help you. GMW has great aggression cards but the campaign is scary, and Sinister Motives has a hero you’re not interested in. I have a couple of suggestions that I hope will be helpful!
      I know you say you don’t like Ghost Spider, but I think my main recommendation would still be for Sinister Motives. The villains are fantastic, and the Justice and Basic cards that come with Miles are so good. The Shield stuff is a lot of fun. And Miles is amazing. Plus it sounds like you must have been into protection before and she comes with some good green cards. I think the villains and Miles still make the box worth it!
      My other thought would be to go with Scarlet Witch or Venom for some good Justice cards, and Nova or Wasp for good Aggression cards, and then either the Kang pack or the Hood pack. I think if you bought 2 heroes and a scenario that would be right around 50 depending on where you get them. This way you get exactly what you’re looking for, more red and yellow cards, and a new scenario to play. Plus both of those packs come with a lot of fun modulars to spice up the villains you currently have.
      Those are my thoughts anyways! I hope that helps, and I’m happy to keep chatting about it if that would help you narrow things down ! 😃

      @@GetUpandGame I actually was already considering that option with wasp, the hood, and either scarlet witch or venom but I really don't know if for the money SM is better, but if I were to get venom or scarlet witch, which would you recommend, because I want to add more like flavour to the justice aspect because I feel like right now it only handles threat and nothing else, so I like the confuse cards from venom because it adds like the mission of having the villain stun-locked and then get rewarded with cheap cost high damage, but I also like scarlet witch for the cards that helps you have threat on the schemes to then use cards that reward you for taking away that threat kind of like playing with the villain scheme and using to your advantage, so I feel like I would really enjoy both, and at some point I'll get both but which one do you recommend getting first ?

It’s a lot of fun! Plus Wasp would really appreciate that Sonic Rifle, and Making An Entrance is a very good card for her as well.
      I love Scarlet Witch but her cards are mostly just more threat removal options. And her off aspect cards aren’t nearly as good as Venom’s

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +1

      Venom is a great pack for him with Crew Quarters and Plasma Pistol, as well as Sonic Rifle for Justice.
      In aggression the main thing you would want is Hand Cannon from Galaxy’s Most Wanted.
      Protection is probably his best aspect with all the tech, and you can find Energy Barrier and Forcefield Generator in Sp//dr. You can also find Energy Barrier in Ms Marvel. Hulk has Electrostatic Armor for another cheap tech, but that’s more of a nice-to-have.
      Leadership is fun because any tech upgrades on allies Tony controls count toward your hand size. Ant-Man has Power Gloves and Reinforced Suit, as well as good Avengers allies to put them on
      A good general card to have for him is Meditation from Vision. He also really likes Ingenuity from Ironheart, which kind of replaces Quincarrier. Though you could always run both, and you can find Quincarriers in Black Widow, Wasp, or War Machine. War Machine also has the team up card Two Against the World.
      I think those are pretty much all the Iron Man staple cards!

      Hello! I do think the X-men box is really good. Both heroes are great (kitty is actually one of my top heroes now) and the villains are really cool. A couple of em are pretty tough so be aware of that. And yeah it definitely buffs them up pretty well with some key allies and other X specific cards. But it’s not necessary I wouldn’t say. The more X-men stuff you have the better the X-men get for sure though. They got a ton of support in this first wave
      I think the best overall product in the game is Sinister Motives so that’s always a great buy! And of course just grabbing any heroes that look fun to you is a very valid strategy

      You could already do ok with Leadership thanks to Rapid Response from Black Widow. But if you wanted more blue I’d get Storm for really good blue X-men leadership cards and Utopia, plus Endurance for Wolverine and an X-Jet
      If you want to go into protection you’d have to get quite a bit but if you wanted that Gwen in Sinister Motives has good cards for Wolverine, as well as Doctor Strange for a nice start to some green decks.

If you fill it with cards that help you draw cards like Clear the Area, Skilled Investigator, and One Way or Another that will get you to your hex bolts over and over again which will help you draw even more cards as well as manage the board. Turn the tide or Followed for more damage. A few expensive cards to take advantage of Chaos Magic like Nick Fury, Avengers Mansion, Daredevil and Quincarrier.
