    Wow! This is an amazing video. You have given me so many deck ideas. I am going to strip all my Premade decks and have a huge card pool. You have now made Leadership and Aggression playable.

      Oh that’s so great! Deck building truly is such a wonderful world of creativity. And the trial and error is really fun too as you continue to tweak a deck and make it a little better each time. I’m so excited for you to be jumping in!

      @@GetUpandGame I have had the game since it came out in the UK but generally just used the premade decks from the Hero packs and Campaign boxes. I have recently been tweaking those Heroes as I have been stuck but now I am just going to start from scratch.

    Honestly getting a solid foundation in Deck Building has been so beneficial in just KNOWING the game better. Even if i’m not going to dive straight into creating a protection deck (as aspect I have neglected until now) I now have a better idea of what it does best and how to use it to its fullest potential. Amazing video, great narration, love the jokey moments too (that karate kid clip was brilliant). Awesome awesome job

    Just got the game last week, currently focusing on choosing an aspect to excel the main attribute of a hero, I was doing a defense Spider-Man that was unkillable and my sister a justice Scarlet Witch that nearly nullified any threat, great fun, but can see how you want a balanced deck for solo Q

      That’s awesome! Yeah solo tends to be a little more jack-of-all-trades, but even then there’s room to skimp on some things 😀

    MG was late here in Sweden, so I just got it and Cyclops/Phoenix, so now I’m totally onboard the MC hype train. And I can’t get enough of MC content, so loved this video! 👍😁
    I’ll be playing the campaign with a friend (Colossus aggression) and I’ll play Shadowcat justice. So I looked at her resource generation from being in solid form, and my first thought was: “Aww, doesn’t work for thwart events, that sucks.” But then I realized there are some combined cards, that would sort of cost one less and thus become much more viable. So I added Stealth Strike and Hit and Run to the deck. And what seemed like a draw back, turned into a challenge/puzzle, and in the end I had a Justice deck unique to Shadowcat. And I love that about MC, it’s so much fun finding new synergies! 🥳

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +1

      That’s amazing! Very clever use of Solid to remove threat! And yes that’s exactly the kind of stuff I’m talking about that makes the deck building in this game better than any other. So ingenious!
      I’m excited for you that you’re able to dive into the X-men stuff! I’ve still barely dipped my toe in it to be honest but I’ve been impressed with all of it so far. As soon as I get the next deck building video done I might need to take a second to just play some mutant goodness! 😁
      And thank you so much for watching!

    So my brother and I just started getting into this and we were thinking of doing a "Jumpstart" cube similar to magic where you take any hero and a premade Aspect and put them together on the fly to make a deck for the day and this video was a godsend for all the different aspect themes we could make. THANK YOU!

    Sneak attack command team is also a pretty well defined leadership archetype

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  8 місяців тому

      As much as I like the idea of it I could never get the whole Sneak Attack thing to work. For solo at least I always felt like it requires a ton of setup to get the payoff and I never seemed to have time. I could imagine in multiplayer though where you have a little more freedom to build up that could be a ton of fun!

    You convinced me to sign up for Con of Heroes 2023! I appreciate the suggestions in these deck building tutorials for team play - I've only ever played solo/two-handed solo. What's the best place to ask more multi-player questions?

      I have 2 suggestions for good people to ask about multiplayer: 1 if you are on Discord or would like to join you should hop into the Living Card Games server where I hang out. There are plenty of people there who play multiplayer that would love to chat with you about it. You can join here!: discord.gg/EtffYDNw
      And another great place would be on the Step Into the Portal UA-cam channel. If you aren’t already following Brandt you definitely should be and he plays a ton of multiplayer!

      100%. You can actually build really solid decks with just an all-rounder strategy but it’s a lot more fun and interesting to have an idea to build around 👍

  • @jonathanpickles2946
    @jonathanpickles2946 Рік тому

    Good analysis. But what about grey eh? For when your hero cards are so good you don't want to waste time playing aspect cards. It has the Mystic archetype and the Basic allies one. The latter is good with Web Warriors and OK with Guardians maybe.
    More seriously you do need to know if you are playing solo or not. In multiplayer you can count on an ally to cover a base or two. Assuming of course you cooperate to expand the design space.

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому

      Thanks! I’m going to be talking a lot more about Basic in the third and final installment. I’ll be doing actual deck builds, and that’s a good place to discuss where Basic can fill in the gaps. And it’s also the home of most of the team specific allies as you say, as well as the supports.
      I totally agree. Most of my focus here is on building for solo since I find that to be a much more specific and challenging exercise. Multiplayer is much easier as you can mostly just do one thing and take all the cards that do that!

  • @zeroisnine
    @zeroisnine Рік тому +3

    Kinda a silly gripe, but they should have made the thwart icon yellow and the recovery icon blue. Yellow for justice, and recovery for blue since you can play out your allies and attachments in alter ego.

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +2

      I totally agree! ATK is red and DEF is green so why is THW blue???

    • @zeroisnine
      @zeroisnine Рік тому +1

      @@GetUpandGame The colors in this game kinda weird with the resources too. Like Justice really cares about Mental resources, which is blue. Green doesn't really care about Energy, but their resource upgrade (Nerves of Steel) generates yellow.
      But okay, maybe they thought being mono-chromatic would be boring, but they didn't mind that with Physical and Aggression.
      But if they made Justice Blue then that goes with the Mental theme, Leadership to yellow, change the Energy symbol from Yellow lightning bolt to a Green atomic energy symbol, and the Wild green star (?) into a yellow star, everything color coordinates.
      Justice - Blue, which is a police color, mental so more detectivey than swat team
      Protection - Green, mechanically the ties to Energy are low, but thematically, theres a lot of tech here, could also be associated with recovery or readying
      Aggression - Red - Physical, obvs
      Leadership - Yelllow, Wild, leaders are like a star (which if colored anything are colored yellow, not green) that leads the way, also no specific synergy with wild resources, but with Leadership being the "do it all aspect" its thematic that its the color of the wild resource
