The 60s , the Age of the Titans .Kirby could draw these awesome machines and by the mid -60's his art was a fine tuned to alot of detail . As a kid they dazzled me and still do now that I'm a old fart

I firmly believe Jack made Reed a super genius as an excuse to draw over-the-top machinery.

Great stuff from the KING. Thank you for making this video. Id love to see a CGI Jack Kirby in a Marvel movie instead of Stan Lee for once. Why Kirby gets no respect is beyond me.

I think this is my Favorite Kirby Continuum video, Fred. If we never get the Fantastic Four movie we both want, you've come as close to the epic thrill and grand scale of Jack's 'One of a kind - blow my mind!' designs in a single video as this drooling fanboy could hope for. Bravo. The music choices were impeccable. This is what the F.F. deserves. What Jack and Stan brought us issue after instant Classic issue. There's no way 10 year old little me could have realized what I held in my hands was: Magic. You captured it Fred. A extra special Thank You for this one. Excelsior!

That's quite a compliment, Tony, so thank you. Of course, the King is the one who ultimately deserves your praise.

@Kirby Continuum - Just watched this AGAIN for the umpteenth time: Blown away AGAIN! Fred, I love the way you separated Jack's exquisite designs from Stan's dialog because it brings the focus on the genius and power of the visual aspects of these truly FANTASTIC stories and characters and arguably puts the lion's share of the credit exactly where it belongs: the Genius of Jaack Kirby's gifts as greater storyteller and the incomparable skills as an artist in elevating good stories into the realm of Great stories. You have a great service to the man and given the more discerning public a window into two geniuses at the same time: Jack Kirby and Bernard Herrmann. A marriage made in....Fred's computer. Excelsior!!!

Cheers, Donna. Thanks for asking. I started the year with a head cold that migrated down and mutated into an upper respiratory infection, so it has not been pleasant. On the other hand, we had our best snow here yesterday since 1989. It snows only about once every 10 years in lower SC, so we were thrilled. I frolicked, which didn't help my illness any. How about you, Donna? Does this winter blast impact you?

Your very excellent work serves not only the legendary greatness of the maestro, but also celebrates the unparalleled conception of The Fantastic Four under Kirby and Lee.
Further, speaking as a Science Fiction cartoonist, your videos evoke for me,the wondrous core of the great science fiction comics of Moebius,Wood,Bilal, etcetera.
Your use of the Leonard Rosenman music, the score from Fahrenheit 451,and Bernard Hermann have inspired me this morning to pull out my complete run of Kirby and Lee's FF in order to enjoy them once a day to this selection of music.
I salute you and your continuum construct, great curator.

I'm happy to have inspired you, azimovist. Do you have the complete Lee-Kirby FF run in original comic book form? If so, that's impressive. (I had it, twice, but both times just couldn't afford to keep them. Now I settle for Omnibus editions and digital sets.)

Kirby drew machinery better than how he drew characters.

Could someone do a video on anime manga machinery or at least "Hayakawa SF" covers?

Kirby is the best with his super science machines..but whenever he does a street scene it looks like the 1940's.
