A rural automatic half barrier (AHB) level crossing found on a quiet Wimland Road just off of the busy dual-carriageway A264 near Roffey, and just outside of Horsham in West Sussex. This level crossing, filmed during a sunny afternoon in May, has two fairly quiet alarms, as well as two original twin-arm Mk1 half barriers which are starting to gradually become less and less common on the main lines in the UK.
Various services operated by Southern and Thameslink, in the forms of triple Class 377s and Class 700s respectively, can be seen passing this level crossing in each of the seven different lowerings featured in this video, with the level crossing also filmed from seven different angles - featuring both close-up views, as well as further-back views with the whole level crossing in view, taken from both sides. London-bound trains can also be seen approaching before the level crossing activates (as seen during lowering 5).
A rather unique charm of this particular level crossing (as of the time of filming) came in the form of a faulty relay, which set the level crossing into 'another train coming' mode every time a train had passed in the direction of Horsham, which sped up the alarm tone regardless of whether or not a second train was actually coming. This is demonstrated in lowerings 1, 4 & 7, with lowering 3 being a true 'double-stay' where a second train approached and the alarms sped-up as they should.

Pretty nice video! That's kinda fun how the relay is broken and causes the alarms to speed up sometimes.
Thank you! It's certainly a rather unique glitch with the relays controlling the crossing when trains head towards Horsham.
I remember that crossing Little Haven Lane I use to do my paper round down there many years ago when it was a manned crossing
Great video and crossing!
Thank you very much!
You can see from you zoomed out to see the train coming from Littlehaven direction towards this crossing how long the gap is before the treadle activates the crossing
The gap between crossing activation and the train passing must be at least 27 seconds by law, and the periods of time between crossing activating and the trains passing hovered around that during my time there, for both directions. As it's a fairly high-speed line, the treadles would need to be further away as more distance can be covered in 27 seconds at that speed. Nice to be able to see that far down the line though 👌
Great videos, UKLC&TC 👍
Thank you very much! 👍😁
Same. That is a very busy crossing.
It is pretty busy tbf - all these videos were recorded within around half an hour of each other 👍
Great video
Thanks!
Yeah am 1st comment lol love the videos xoxoxo
I can't believe it's not 8 😤😤😤. Good video
Thanks, BTH! That was thanks to the double stay I got.
@@SouthEastLevelCrossings well it should've been 9 😤😤😤
You were correct first time. I got 7, but would have got 8 if the double stay didn't happen 😉
