Hi Jose! I think it really is just down to the brushes I like to use. Since filming this I've actually switched to using the Rosemary & Co Series 8 (Size 2). It's a really lovely brush that holds its point very well: www.rosemaryandco.com/watercolour-brushes/pure-kolinsky-sable/series-8-pointed-round :)
Hi! I just have it positioned kind of near my left shoulder, and I have it mounted on a small slider so I can more easily switch between shots of the palette and back again :)
I've just started using Tamiya's Fine White Primer, and I definitely find it superior to Citadel's Corax White which I find comes out really chalky. Chaos Black and Mech Standard Grey are really good, but I feel like they somehow run out more quickly given their larger size, strangely?

Hey Sorastro, I have a question or few. When I'm mixing my paints, after I put in Vallejo Retarder, my paints become a gel, or thick with skin; why? Am I adding too much? Also my mixes don't seem to be the same as yours, for example, on Boba I thinned down the magenta fluo and the flame highlight on the cape still looks painted on. My ratio has been so far: using a size 2 brush, 2 scoops of paint, 2 drops water, 2 drops glaze, 1 drop retarder. Your mix seems much creamier, especially in the Wookies tutorial. Any tips?
Hi! The Vallejo Retarder is somewhat "gloopy" which is why I prefer to use the Glaze Medium instead (it still has retarder built in, but is much less "thick"). Generally I'd suggest going even thinner (with more water) - just don't overload your brush (or remove some of the excess on some paper) :)
I havea rather specific question. At 15:00 you wetblend either side of the cape, from light to dark to light. I am currently working on an excercising figure to learn some wetblending (yup, that's your influence) and I encountered the one edge of the previously painted area drying up while I wetblend the other. Is it just the Glaze Medium that extends the drying time that much (I use Retarder) or do you reapply the previously dried up edge of the area before wetblending. I hope I phrased that understandably. Awesome paintjob and choice of colours, as always.
What clear coat do you recommend, I have been thinking about using testors dull coat spray, I have used different flat sprays and they all have a semi gloss look to them even though can says matte
This is truly crazy (in a very good sense)! Well done Sir!! This work is truly a masterpiece!!! I was trying to paint the Wookie Leader from Star Wars Legion as a black Wookie. But failed miserably! Maybe you feel inclined for a black Wookie challenge?!? I found it very diffcult to paint with black and white and still look good. The brown Wookies I painted where based on oneof your previous video on Chewbacca and Gahrkan. They look great! But the black Wookie...so difficult!!! All the best from Hamburg, Germany!
I don't know how you keep topping yourself, but this is one of your best videos. I love how you changed the thickness (opacity) of your paint for shaded areas and lit areas of the figure. Can I ask why in some of your videos you choose a wet palette and not in others (like this one). Is it merely for variety in your channel? Or do you prefer one technique over the other? Thanks.
Thanks a lot John! Regarding the palette, I certainly like to use it when I'm using wide-ranging gradients (like in the next IA video which is Thrawn) but I still sometimes like to use a dry palette just to show my viewers that it isn't essential to use a wet palette in order to paint well. I also feel that the dry palette helps me keep things (hopefully!) a bit neater and easier to follow :)
I have watched this video like 5 times!!! I cant do the zenithal highlights so i am going to have to blend by hand, i also am going to have to mix all the colors best i can because i have almost none of them lol.
