I actually read an article about this a while ago, but it's great to see it presented in such a masterful way on this channel, in this form! On a related note to the story itself, I had a Korean roommate in college (this is in the US) who went to kindergarten with Kim Jong Un (yes, seriously) in Switzerland. She obviously had no idea who he was, but she clearly remembers one time when he tried to play with her on the playground, and she rejected his attempts to play. Since they were both Korean, her parents spoke with Kim Jong Un during some kind of parent visitation day (no, his parents were not there!), and found it odd that he was speaking in the form of Korean that an elder would use to address people younger. Later on, when they were no longer living in Switzerland, her dad happened to come across a newspaper article about Kim Jong-Il and his family. In the article, it spoke about how Kim Jong-Il's son was going to school in Switzerland, and there was a picture of him, and voila, the parents realized why the little boy they had met in their daughter's kindergarten spoke Korean in a strange way and didn't have any parents with him on parent visitation day. Just had to share that because it's such a crazy thing to happen..

      right!?
im convinced i know how he does it. he uses small maybe lies to give realness and substance. how they feel, why they did certain things, movements they did…much of these are likely impossible to know unless he watched footage or did interviews. Like i think he explained one time..he does a lot of research and then stews in it, basically letting his subconscious do the decoding. And because he knows himself, people and has attention to detail, he fills in the blanks with what likely anyone of us would do or feel. And since these little maybe lies dont change any of the story or facts, its a major win-win.
Analyze this sometime, think of it from a logical standpoint…next story you hear, look for little details that a detective wouldnt know, but ballen fills those in with realistic behaviors and thoughts. Like a bank robber…he doesnt know the thoughts exactly, but hell say like “even though this was his 6th robbery, and should feel comfortable with the sequence of events, the recent discovery of his girlfriend’s pregnancy had Bill thinking of his future and mortality more than ever as he walked into the fifth third bank on the corner of arizona blvd and center street”
In my example, it’s obvious ballen wouldnt know thats what he was thinking. but hed know the recent knowledge of the gf pregnancy and how that would affect anyone and invade and change their thinking.
this may sound like i dislike mrballen. not at all the case. this is amazing storytelling. i loved wrestling too…i know much of that is “fake”….i appreciate the art

I love how Mrballen sets up his stories and all the twists. I was 3/4 into the story before I remembered what it was about: the murder of Un’s brother. I am pretty sure they were assassins though, not unwitting “actresses. “

I had heard a little about this story & the assassination, but had no idea of the extent of it & or "the prank" nor these two women behind it all. How dreadful & so frightening for these two naive & trusting girls who were just trying to better their lives to support family back in their country. Thank you so much for all your stories they are told so descriptively clear, & your voice emphasis on words & certain sentences are excellent & captivate, I'm sure thousands of other people & myself agree you have a very special gift. Keep safe & well & I really appreciate this story. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
