the cinematography of this sequence is literally perfection: those extreme closeups of her hands and face, the way the camera moves, and of course the lighting. Not one frame of this sequence fails to utterly slap.
In a funny coincidence I was just thinking that Alien suffers for me from too many extreme close ups and camera moves, resulting in a deficient sense of place, of the actual space in which the action unfolds.
So true.. And that pulsatile lighting absolutely adds to th sense of urgency
Ridley Scott created a damn masterpiece.
One of the most memorable movie alarms and self destruct sequence ever. It takes it's time to show the Self Destruct Sequence as well, pure cinematic immersion, making the entire thing sink into the audience's memory - not even Star Wars or Star Trek comes close to this level of detail. The first Alien has truly spectacular sound and set designs.
This movies takes its time for everything. Lets it sink in, so the viewer is keenly aware of what's at stake. That's its strength.
Alien will always be my personal favorite. One of the best films ever made and a true masterpiece! Alien now turns 45! One of the most memorable self destruct sequence alarms. There's not gonna be another great Alien film as good as the first two films.
It's amazing how the 3rd film is more expensive than this but this looks more elaborate and amazing
self-destruction units looks absolutely stunning! all the details background looks better than scifi movie these days!

Alien: el octavo pasajero ha envejecido de una forma tan magnífica, que uno no comsidera que fue filmada hace más de 30 años ya. Alien 1979 upscaled to 4K from the Blu-ray version, with no DNR used. Edited and color graded in HDR and Dolby Vision. Although UA-cam currently doesn't support Dolby Vision, the video is HDR compatible. If UA-cam ever supports Dolby Vision in the future, this video should play in Dolby Vision as intended.
- Watch in HDR for best results! Watching this in SDR may produce colour inaccuracies due to the way UA-cam converts HDR to SDR.
