This mans voice was a big part of my childhood he was perfect for the wwf
So glad he mentioned Warner Wolf. I used to catch his highlights from MSG once a month as well. Great memories.
Imagine Vince did his own podcast and talks about everything. That would be the biggest wrestling podcast in history.
It would be awesome
His pain went away as soon as he got paid. 😂😂😂
Dr D weighed 975 pounds and stood 8 feet brother.
Man! Mean Gene! What an absolute LEGEND!!
Schultz didn't give a damn and he did everything he could to protect the business. That slap cost him his career, sadly. I think, to this day, he still despises Hogan. If you watch the A&E Biography on him, you'll see what I mean. The man was one of the legit toughest SOB's in the business.
I agree, nobody from management stood up for him! What a shame! 🤬💪
Slapping a guy who is considerably smaller, not an athlete & is asking a legitimate question is not being a tough guy. He's lucky he didn't go to jail.
"I'm da Mountie!"
And the real Mounties weren't really happy with that gimmick.
Not as bad as rocking the Hell’s Angels patches without being a member
That is why when they went to Canada, he had to be billed as Jaques Rougeau to not get heat with the mounties.
@@mikeg2491lol who did that?
@@brad3 Ron Dupree & Chris Colt, rumors they got death threats for it and had to change gimmicks
@@mikeg2491 --- I used to know some bikers and they told me that if you're wearing their logo and not a member, the nice guys will warn you once and after that you could be history.
Dont know this old Gene interview having been popping up on my feed but I'm not complaining
Always will be a fan of nails for slapping up Vince the devil McMahon and Gene he was right!
mean gene was the best in the 80's in the WWF. His reactions to heel promos were so funny.
Schultz looked like a bad ass renegade.
He was set up by Vince with 20/20.
Yes he was.... and Mr fuji was in the background laughing before the slap
Absolutely 100%! Mean Gene remains one of the most memorable men in all of the WWF for me in the '80s.
Dr. D was a naturally big man but I did not get the impression he liked to work out or was on steroids, he is just wired tightly.
Mean gene will be missed remember him from awa days then wwf then wcw always tops where he worked 😊
Was such a great moment
#RIPMeanGene
The story I had always heard was that it was one of the Rougeau's hitting one of the Bulldogs one time. This is the first I've heard that it was both of the Rougeau brothers handing out a beat down to both Bulldogs.
Based on the comments I’m surprised these marks aren’t claiming that 80s wrestlers didn’t do cocaine either.
The Rougeaus Revenge: Wednesday , 10/5/1998 ( WWF ) Fort Wayne, Indiana: Allen County Memorial Coliseum ( WWF Superstars of Wrestling TV Taping # 37 ) Catering Room Hallway: Jacques Rougeaus knocks out British Bulldog' Dynamite Kids teeth, four in total.
I don’t think Dr. D David Schultz was on steroids. Was a little crazy but not on steroids.
Call the Hotline...
Dave Meltzer used Scheme Gene's hotline for most of his dirtsheet tripe.
6 foot 6 267 id say closer to 256 he was natural
@@ericfrontczak8016 Saw him at a TV studio where my girlfriend worked in 1984. I'm 6-3. He was no taller then me. Hogan wasn't 6-7 either.
A bad move on Stossel and Shultze. Stossel should have went " many people say wrestling is fake , what do you say to those comments...." something like that. instead ,didn't he just come on and say , "i think wrestling is fake!!! He wasn't very forward thinking for a professional. On the other hand , DR. D shouldn't have clocked him like that .It didn't make him look tough specially because of the size difference and Stossel not being a fighter or athlete. Plus, he was pretty much out of the business after that incident , or was in the minor leagues after that .
Stossel bragged those slaps bought him a villa in the south of france.
Probably lying. Again.
@@dkupke i looked it up , he got over 400k back then and bought a place there.
I don’t know that Dr. D was gassing back then, he may have dabbled but he clearly didn’t abuse them like literally everyone else in the business was doing at the time
Gene gorilla Bobby….all gifts ❤
Doctor d. Took kay. Fabe to another level 💯
Bob Backlund didn’t have a problem losing to the Iron Sheik. He preferred to lose to a legitimate wrestler and Sheik was as legitimate as they came.

Schultz hardly looked like a guy on steroids. Think thats a bit off there Gene
😂
There’s lot of different types of steroids. Most just make you recover from injuries faster and you won’t become huge without heavy weight lifting no matter what you take
@@dwoodstwin lol! livestock don't lift weights.....
@@christopherjames9843 how many body builder livestock do you see 🤔
@@christopherjames9843 They are the weight. The build it when walking.
Who didn't want to slap John the guy was annoying
Nah Stossel was one of the last real journalists, with balls of steel
Asks question:
*gets slapped by a 6'6 meathead*
*gets up*
"yea you didn't answer the question"
*gets slapped again*
For asking a question that was actually true?
@@Spardeousstill is
@@Jeremy_the_unfallible_n-a he knew it was, he wanting to push buttons and he did
@@taduuuma i was referring to "the Iast reaI journalist, with baIIs of steeI" part
GD!
Even Mean Gene will take a story and start making up all kinds of things that didn't happen to enhance it.
Wrestling people. Lol
Well, he was very close with Hulk Hogan. 😂
Schultz wasn't on steroids he just didn't put up with bullshit
Shultz has admitted to being on steroids and that Hogan was supplying them himself
He was definitely on steroids
Why are you all obsessed with who is or isn’t on steroids.
Mean Gene's recollection of past events is horrible.
Everything he just said is false.
Bad memory on this bloke.
'Sergent Jacques' 😆
Good thing some goofy wrestling fan who wasn’t there can straighten it out for us. Lmao yall need to calm down
@@ericredelman2568
No, I'm going by what other professional wrestlers who were directly involved in those incidents and completely run contrary to what Gene's versions of events were.
He said that the Rougeaus played ribs on the bulldogs, when it actually started as a result of Curt Hennig playing a rib on the Rougeaus and the bulldogs getting blamed for it as they were notorious ribbers. Then Tom Billington fronted on Jaques as a result, and it was Jaques alone, not with his brother that got advice from his golden gloves champion father to hold a roll of quarters that knocked out dynamite kid's "chompers".
Gene completely has a bad memory as many others can attest to what I just stated.
What else, he couldn't remember the Mountie gimmick and said "sergeant Jaques".
That is factually wrong.
Also the slap heard around the world incident is on film, I didn't need to be there to see it.
Mean Gene recounted it wrong.
You can easily look this up yourself.
You obviously haven't heard the testimonies of those involved other than Gene's versions, otherwise it would have stood out as incorrect.
FWI I'm also not just some goofy wrestling fan like yourself, I was trained by the late great Billy Robinson at the well renowned Wigan snake pit
Known many professional wrestlers throughout the years and people involved in the business, you don't know what you're talking about small fry.
@@ericredelman2568I mean if he remembered things wrong then he remembered them wrong. Some of the things he’s talking about are on tape and they didn’t happen like he said they did.
Goofy wrestling fan.
If Dr. Dave was taking steroids they must've been fake roids lol
Gene sucked, the man was incapable of saying dr. D David Schultz
With all due respect to Mean By God Gene, May he RIP, but I’m calling bullshit on his recall of the Schultz/Stossel incident. Stossel did NOT say to Shultz “what do you think of the people that say wrestling is fake?” He said to Schultz, “I think it’s fake.” During a time when talent was ordered by their bosses to protect the business at all costs. Right or wrong, that’s just the way it was
After they met in a room dr d said ask me anything don't ask if it's fake, stossel OK I'll stick to the standard questions
Bunk.....schultz wasnt on steroids..knock it off....he didnt even drink and took pride in it....he was a straight shooter tough guy who stood up for himself...thats it ....case closed...
Cuz some goofy wrestling fan on UA-cam said so. Why would you think you know better than someone around all this? “It’s still real to me!” Goober
@@ericredelman2568 goober ?? you sound like the product of a single mother....friend...first of all...lets understand something...extensive interviews involving Schultz himself revealed he never drank or hung around sleazy women unlike most of the other wrestling doped up clowns who liked the wild life...and it shows...most of these guys were early shrunken washups post wrestling days while Schultz continued to remain youthful, in shape, and a successful bounty hunter......i could go on but not necessary...i made my point....learn to think on a higher level...friend...
He was there, you weren’t…I’ll take his word
