That would be awesome, only thing is, AEW does tend to do alot of corny / superfake looking stuff. I do enjoy AEW for the most part, but sometimes the overly choreographed spot fests and wacky character stuff is a bit much (at least for me). I wish they would've stuck with what they had initially said (b4 launching their weekly show) about making their program have a real sports feel to it.
OHM.R 1200 That was true at first and still is to an extent but I have seen less spot fest matches from them recently and as far as the characters their has been over the top characters in wrestling since the beginning

I like John Stossel. He does a lot of tongue in cheek news reporting. He's good! I actually remember this happening though and I was laughing at him getting slapped at the time but come on, give Stossel some props, he's really good and not afraid to take his lumps too.
Stossel didn’t deserve the slaps, but he was being disrespectful. It’s obvious wrestling is scripted, but the grind is real, the pain is real, the sacrifice they make to destroy their bodies for our entertainment is real. Stossel was just provoking for the sake of provoking
Don’t provoke people unless you can deal with the consequences. Stossel wanted a reaction, and he got one. The notoriety of it was good for his career. He was a “beach” for crying about it and suing, instead of being a man and owning up to provoking him. Stossel claimed it caused him hearing issues for a long time, but as I recall also admitted exaggerating about it. That being said, if it truly was preplanned by McMahon, then it was entirely appropriate to sue McMahon.
Y'all are not looking at the whole situation. Yeah the reporter got rude after the crap the wrestler was talking. He should have said something intelligent if he felt like that to shut him down. He had no comeback and chose violence. Plus dude is like 3x his size. That's a bad look.
I remember seeing Stossel stand there, then Schultz cuffed him and I saw his loafers flip up into view. I thought ohhhhh shit. He's disconnected his head.
The whole world was talking about the slap and professional wrestling the next day. Vince paid a half million for the negative publicity which is sometimes better for business.
He was a fool for doing it twice. The first time egh a bit of a bully move, but I kind of understand it. To do it again after you get exiled? Very foolish. Might have been better off as he probably got off the steroids and whatever else these guys were on sooner.
Because of these events, Schultz got suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission, while John Stossel filed a lawsuit against WWE. Even though it got settled out of court, David Schultz was fired by WWE.
I saw that segment when it aired. It's good to finally learn the truth of the incident. I apologize for the things I've thought about Dr. D all these years, insluding that I had thought it was John Studd who did the slapping.
He goes on to talk about the tough guys and how they are really nice people. That might be true, but if he’s a tough guy, the toughest people I know wouldn’t slap the crap out of somebody who was half their size and obviously not a fighter. I bet if that wrestler they asked him about, king Tonga, ask him if wrestling is fake he wouldn’t do a damn thing. But he has no problem slapping a little guy around. Tough guy would call him a bully and a punk.
He wouldn't. Puzzles me how people look at the reporter like he was wrong when Schultz was nasty to everyone in that hallway, called everyone a punk too. What male will sit up there and not have a rebuttal to that disrespect? Like he is supposed to let a guy talk to him any kind of way because he is 3x his size and not get irritated. That was not a display of masculinity at all from Schultz. It was pure emotion that made zero sense.
This guy just fudged up and cost him his career. As well as lying he states he thought the reporter said he was fake but clearly in the orginal clip he repeats word for word back to the reporter and slaps the stew outta him.
When Schultz slapped the guy I knew he was an idiot. Vince told him "to blast him"... he could just do it differently... but hitting the guy in a face...???? what an idiot.

The thing about it is (and I'm no Vince fan btw): by Dr.D's own story, Vince just told him to "blast" Stossel......that doesn't necessarily mean hit him.

Vince McMahon. Screwing the wrestling business and wrestlers over from day one 🤬😡
Dr. D was prophetic back in 2005, the downfall of Vince McMahon is happening, and it took way too long to finally get here.

well done david schultz. Don't step back from that slap because he disrespected our beloved business.
I was good friends with Jake the snake. But this guy went too far. He was a real POS
Your beloved business has been making generations stupid.
Great job.
Your guy was so thin skinned, he couldn’t take a simple question from a reporter without becoming enraged and assaulting the reporter. That’s not deserving of any compliment.

Waiting for the day when AEW has a spot where someone says rasslin is fake . Boom out comes Shultz! That would be insane ! I know I would love it
Back in the 90 days used to get into so much trouble because people will always say wrestling is not real. I would Channel my inner dr. D David Schultz 🤣
Book it!
Boom here comes the Boom
OHM.R 1200 That was true at first and still is to an extent but I have seen less spot fest matches from them recently and as far as the characters their has been over the top characters in wrestling since the beginning

Dr D still looking great. Keeping it real and telling it like it is.
Stossel didn’t deserve the slaps, but he was being disrespectful. It’s obvious wrestling is scripted, but the grind is real, the pain is real, the sacrifice they make to destroy their bodies for our entertainment is real. Stossel was just provoking for the sake of provoking
John Stossel deserves a lot more than a slap across his lying face. He’s always been a punk and he’s always been a liar. David Schultz is a hero.
Nah, he had the slaps coming.
Back then they pretended wrestling was real.
Y'all are not looking at the whole situation. Yeah the reporter got rude after the crap the wrestler was talking. He should have said something intelligent if he felt like that to shut him down. He had no comeback and chose violence. Plus dude is like 3x his size. That's a bad look.

Because of these events, Schultz got suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission, while John Stossel filed a lawsuit against WWE. Even though it got settled out of court, David Schultz was fired by WWE.

He looks so cool and approachable here. In the other video he was a beast. And I’m not talking about age. I’m talking about his whole demeanor.
I actually like Stossel, but the footage of Mr. Schultz bitch slapping him was some of the finest imagery ever caught on film, haha!

LMAO at some of the comments in this thread. It is a sure sign this is a completely different world than the 80's when this happened. I remember seeing this live on tv watching 20/20 with my parents (one TV, 3 channels, the joy of the 80's). My father, who is a cop, laughed as well, said David might get charged with some misdemeanor assault. As a kid I knew wrestling was fake and watched it all the time. All Stossel was doing was what he did all the time, be a smart ass in front of people who he thought would not check him on his attitude. He got checked.
