    Thank you for your video. I watches some video about lenses before this, but this one stands out above the others. It starts with categories, which later broke down in smaller categories, with proper explanations and examples etc. Brilliant!

    I have a Sony Alpha (so, no, not a Nikon) that I have bought a very, very long time ago, but never used much... I am thinking of getting (more) into photography, and this is a good beginner's video.

    I've just bought a Canon eos rp. Only had funds to buy an 11 to 18mm lenses to start. What would you recommend for a decent next lense? Looking to get into astrophotography, I have a telescope and goto motorised mount ordered

      Hey Paul. For astro photography you can use any wide angle lens, so the one you have will be good, especially with the motorised mount. I prefer wide-angle photography, so am perhaps a bit biased. But for another lens look at the next zoom up (something up to 60 or 70mm which will be good for portraits and general photography.

    Clear and concise. Trying to get into videography a bit more. Still exploring with the Nikon 5200 with sigma 500mm. Great for wildlife shots. Could do with a landscape lens for my fishing vids. Any recommendations? Definite sub. Cheers.

      Thanks Sheppey, I was thinking of doing a couple more videos on lenses for different types of photography.

    Been shooting a while but I’m so confused on which ones to get. Fisheye, 11-20, 17-50, 24-70, 70-200 200 and beyond. Love landscapes, skateboard photography, wildlife and everything in between. So expensive as well.

      Jared, lenses are more important than your camera which is why they cost so much. And don't be fooled into buying a really wide ranged zoom as the quality may not be what you expect. For more impact why not get a wider zoom and just get closer, or use accessories to not be near the camera and still take pictures.

    So, APS-C is a Dx/full frame/four thirds ?

    • @GavinParsons
      @GavinParsons  4 роки тому

      APS-C is like a middle ground format between Full frame (Dx) and micro 3/4s.

      @@GavinParsons so its better than 4/3s ?

    FX and DX lenses? Must be a local Nikon term.
    No such thing in the Canon, Sigma or Tamron worlds.
    They're called EF and EF-S, DG and DX or Di and Di II, respectively.

    • @GavinParsons
      @GavinParsons  5 років тому

      Hi Lau, All manufacturers use different terminology. The video would have been twice as long if I'd gone through them all, but the principle is still the same.
