    Blocking the intercooler with the oil cooler is a good idea... intercoolers need the biggest temperature difference to work... you will end up heating the cooling air to oil temp very quickly and have very high IAT’s.

      Hasn’t been an issue so far. We are data logging everything and can make changes if need be. This was a common comment but in the real world it’s not as big of an issue as people think.

      @@BoostBrothersGarage Forgot to ask you guys, do i need the clutch assembly off the 944 turbo s? Its the aor clutch/transmission so apparently the clutch is beefier.

    • @BoostBrothersGarage
      @BoostBrothersGarage  4 роки тому +1

      No sir, that clutch will not work with the swap. The swap converts the car to push type hydraulic throw out bearing instead of the factory pull type.

    • @paulhoffman1481

      @@BoostBrothersGarage ok awesome! Also will i need the turbo s driveshaft between the clutch and transmission or will my 1983 n/a one be just as strong? Also will it fit?

    • @BoostBrothersGarage
      @BoostBrothersGarage  4 роки тому +1

      Your NA one will work fine, and they are all the same strength. The only reason to get that torque tube is if the bearings are shot in your existing one. I haven’t come across one with bad bearings yet though.

    Alright bud, I'm ready to make the move. The Audi TFSI head is $4,400 used, so somebody is buying them for a lot of money. I discovered the other link in the detuning of the 07k, they put tiny intake valves in it. Usually the turbo rendition may have smaller valves to avoid cracking. Not this time, Audi has 34mm intake valves and 28mm exhaust. VW has teeny 32mm that can't breathe coupled with 190 duration, like Grampas 472 Cadillac lmao. The exhaust is the same 28mm. Anyway, I am attempting to get two head variations made with better flow than the Audi. I will have to include camshafts because I'm not going to let meatballs give it a bad name running 1987 Mercury Topaz camshafts in purpose built heads. CatCams makes a pretty decent set that I'd accept for stage 1 hydraulic 8200rpm. For stage 2 I'm spec'ing my own 9300 rpm solid roller. If I can't find adjustable lifters, I'll make them. DTM makes exactly what I want for the 4g63, shims or lash caps, no chance. It's more expensive than I planned but more than doubles the power for stage 1 NA. Stage two is over 400 wheel NA. Do you think people will spend $3,800 on the stage 1? I have to do everything, all 20 seats, oversize 10 valves for stage 1, springs, caps, and retainers, as well as camshafts. Stage 2 is 20 oversize race valves, likely titanium intakes with modifications and custom cams with 14-16mm lift race springs and titanium locks to be able to spin 9300+ reliably. Likely 5500 bucks. I'm hesitant to do it, on the other hand all the euro tuners charge over $4,000 just for porting.
    Do you think people would spend that for twice the power or more?

    • @BoostBrothersGarage
      @BoostBrothersGarage  4 роки тому +1

      It sounds awesome, for sure. I know there would be people interested but I can’t imagine it being a big seller. Most people will just throw a turbo on and make the 400 whp limit of the stock short block. There are some guys who race in classes that have displacement requirements that might be interested, and those who are just going all out on a build. I would guess you would move a handful a year?

      @@BoostBrothersGarage That's what scares me. It's a risk for sure. They are paying huge money for rs3 motors and it is definitely not necessary. You can get 750hp out of the vw motor turbocharged with headwork and cam easily. Basically whatever the 2.5 tfsi will do but more because they don't cam swap usually. Cams are too expensive for dohc motors for a 40-50hp gain. It's double hp in the 07k with valves so well worth it. 300 something na is worth it. The cast cranks are good to 500. After that is ttrs crankshaft. Iroz has been snapping them though so I'm looking into billet. If I can get them for under 1500 in a multiple crankshaft buy maybe. Still working on that.

      It for Alan. It’s a 660hp capable turbo. The G-Series are just really small turbos for their claimed output.
