During a long-passed archaeological excavation, a set of Gates were discovered. People quickly realized that these ancient passages lead to different realms and dimensions - providing brave and reckless adventurers with treasures beyond measure. Rynoka, a small commercial village, was founded near the excavation site providing refuge and a place for adventurers to sell their hard-earned riches.
Moonlighter is an Action RPG with rogue-lite elements following the everyday routines of Will, an adventurous shopkeeper that dreams of becoming a hero.
SHOPKEEPING
While conducting your business in Rynoka village, you can put items on sale, set their price carefully, manage gold reserves, recruit assistants and upgrade the shop. Be careful though - some shady individuals may want to steal your precious wares!
FIGHT WITH STYLE
Defeat various enemies and bosses, and revel in challenging and deep combat mechanics. Masterful control of your weapons, critical timing, careful positioning, and an understanding of your enemies and environment are crucial to your survival. How you battle your enemies is up to you.
MEET VILLAGERS
Get to know your neighbors as you restore the prosperity of this small commercial hamlet. Help establish new businesses and watch them grow in the idyllic community of Rynoka.
CRAFT & ENCHANT
Understanding the crafting and enchanting system is essential for your progression. Interact with the villagers to craft new armor and weapons, and enchant existing equipment. This creates a great deal of flexibility and spices up the way equipment is used.
GET THE LOOT
Access strange worlds through otherworldly gates and collect valuable items from exotic civilizations: resources, weapons, armors and peculiar artifacts. Hoarding everything won't be possible - use the unique inventory system wisely to take the most profitable loot with you.
OPEN THE GATES
Gates lead to different worlds. Each run is unique and forces you to make smart and calculated decisions. You never know what you will encounter next - that’s why you must be prepared for everything.

I bought this one because of this stellar review and I was instantly hooked. What a brilliant game. It took me hours and hours to just get past the first dungeon because I just loved the cycle of collecting loot and selling it!
Just the small clips in this video were enough for me to know that this is a video game soundtrack to add to my "listen at work" list! Great review, loved the tone of voice you used throughout this one! It was like sitting down next to the hearth and listening to a good old fashioned story.

Got the complete edition for 13 bucks on the switch and holy shit. I was not expecting to be this hooked since I’m not a fan of rogue likes. It’s so good tho. I recommend 100%

I think I missed this review back when it came out! I loved playing Moonlighter and will go back to it to this day. A lot of fun dungeon crawling to gain items and then going through the pricing run as you try to find the right price to sell your items!
I have never really seen a channel as big as yours actively interact with the community even after weeks of releasing a video. Keep up the good work and obviously I am going to be plating this game a lot.

If you pay close attention to the review, you're basically a slave who work 24/7 with no sleep.
You start working during the day and dumpster dive at night.
The night job could cause your life.
To torture you, the game only let you carry a woman purse just to watch you make hard decision on what items to abandon.
They'll let you upgrade your gears but not your backpack.

FYI, right now the game has a 75% discount on Nintendo switch online, annnnd the complete version on the game has a 70% (includes both moonlighter and moonlighter: between dimensions). It costs less than 10 dollars but only for one more week

It's a really nice and addictive game. Even bought it on discount so can't complain. The first dungeon was a hassle, but i made it through. Now I'm in the dessert and it is making me moooooh. But I upgraded my defense, now I must make it quick out. Yo, I'm the king of moonlighter. Let's make rynoka proud!

It unequivocally shows! Which puts me in an akward position, as I must present to you a grievance of some sort : now I'm even more conflicted that I was before watching your reviews of Bastion, Transistor and Moonlighter, as I can only buy one, and you sold all of them really really well! Not to mention, I'm tempted to go through more of your reviews, but that might make it even worse! Anyway, thank you :) P.S. It gets really chaotic, for sure. Yeah, haha sorry about that one!! I basically couldn't say don't buy either of those lol. Personally, I would pick Moonlighter as it's a game you can put 5 minutes or 5 hours into. It has more longevity than those but they offer a better story experience. Decisions, decisions! (Mark)
I was always an FPS player, just started playing RPG recently. Zelda BOTW was absolutely stunning to me but I can hardly find any other similar game. Got interested in Moonlighter before it released but still wondering whether it is gonna be suitable for me.

I bought the complete edition of this game yesterday and I am enjoying it so much..it has a learning curve IMO but once you get the hang of how the game works then it's really fun..I've been finding myself saying "ok,one more dungeon run and then I'll go to bed"..well,it's more like 3 dungeon runs and THEN I'll go to bed hahahaha..I didn't think I'd like this game,so I didn't get it when it first came out on the Switch..but I saw the complete edition had a good price on the eshop right now so I decided to give it a try..I'm so glad I did 😊

i have a theory on why games are being overpriced. i think we have the 'discount' section in the store to blame. i have been noticing lately that nearly every single game ends up in here after a very short period of time.
The new game gets the top slot in the 'new' section...after a week its off the list, then with a 'sale' price , immediately at the top of the discount list. Its not really a 'sale' . many off these games have already made the dev its money on steam or other platforms. what i do love to see is at least devs making the game the very best it can be. like you said, this had many bugs, but its a definitive version.
that makes switch unrivalled and all the games i have on it, i will treasure the console as it has all the best versions of games on it.
Theres about 150 games at all times on sale. so i have to admit..i just wait now. i can wait 😂. except for a few must have's.

The switch tax is because Nintendo is taking a larger cut of the sale than Steam or Sony.
The sale strategy on the eShop also goes like this: game gets forgotten and buried in the eShop and won't be seen unless specifically searched for... So they put it on sale, sometimes 90% off, etc. This gets a lot of copies sold and it ends up in the "Best Sellers" list for 2 weeks. So then it goes back to full price but still has that visibility, and some people buy it at full price simply because they see it (and that it's popular) and probably don't realize it was just on sale.

I’ve been playing Curse of the Dead Gods in between Kirby and Triangle Strategy, and I have been waiting for the physical copy of Skul the hero slayer to drop, but seeing this game on sale for $6, and finding out it isn’t just a animal crossing style title as far as gameplay, and that there is a great rougelike loop, it seems I will be picking this one up. I remember reading game manuals before playing them! Ahhh those were the days 😊 I have this on PS4 but came across a game breaking bug. Emailed developers and they did put a patch out and fixed it but I never went back to it. Games like these though, I will love them on a handheld but won't b bothered about them on a console for some reason. Sheltered is a great example for me. Might have to give this a go on the switch to do it justice
Good review, I'm trying to decide between this and Enter the Gungeon. Though I'm also deciding if I want to buy this on Switch or PS4.
I like the Switch and being able to go where I want with it, but the PS4 also has trophies and it gets good price cuts on the PSN.
This game is on offer as a bundle for just over £5 in the e-shop right now, and i decided to grab it based on this review.
I just got the game. The grandma with the wheat on her back scared me because she went right toward the fire place before running back out. I THOUGHT SHE WAS ON FIRE DUE TO THE WHEAT BEHIND HER HAIR!

For all the reviews of Moonlighter this is the best one. Even finally I will purchase this game. Now I have to decide if going for the phisical release $33 on Amazon or the Digital on the eShop for$24.99. This game looks amazing for my personal taste.

Sorry Mark, I am a box type of guy, I have a few downloads that I have to play but must have the box version if I want the game, getting an expensive hobby this gaming I still think downloads should be below £8 after all no physical value added in production, transport ext, I expect Nintendo has already calculated the cost of server's so they will never be on a loser, my biggest grip is games like megaman or Sega Ages being released again and again at way over inflatable prices, come on guys £4.99 for these games i had them all on the original Xbox but I have to admit Xbox does some fantastic cheap classic games. Nintendo needs to look into this what you think??

this is a beautifully put together game. i love the review too. i keep running into this same problem though with these amazing games coming to switch. the old Double Dip issue. i have and love this game on PC. it is becoming difficult to judge which games to just play and love on PC and which to double dip for switch. it used to be i just got the ones i really liked on PC for switch but now that is getting out of hand and i need to be a tad more selective. what do you guys think? is moonlighter definitely worth the double dip for portability?

Funny thing is, I spend so much time on the Switch eShop that when I go to Steam on my PC I'm like, "Wait, that game is on PC too?" I mostly get games like this on my Switch and keep my PC for more demanding titles that need a beefy video card or look better at 1440P. Switch is for Nintendo exclusives and indie games.

I always look up to you review in order to make a choice to buy a game or not :) unfortunately my wallet is broke now but it has been days since i really want to play this specific game as well as Dead Cells & Hollow Knight. The Switch has SO much to offer it is outsanding... i remember as a kid playing on my portable divices and Playstation and now this magnificient console ! I almost never touch my brother ps4 again and play everything on my Wonderful blue lite nintendo... i'd love to have any suggestion about any games close to Moonlighter !... Chlidren of Morta ? Bastion ?...

Black and White had me dreaming of ripping out trees for a while, I know the feeling all to well, I think i should try this one.
I bought it last year alongside the DLC for around £5. Great value and good fun. It would've been much better if they NPCs were a bit more engaging
