  • Monster Sanctuary features a pretty unique shiny system, referred to as shifting. This mechanic, as stated by the devs is like a cross between the shiny system from various Monster Taming games and an evolution mechanic. This video aims to explore the system in it's entirety.

    I've always liked it when there's lore or in-world depth behind variants (Dragon Quest slimes being my favourite example). They clearly knew what they were doing with the shift stone's Yin-Yang allusion. Pokémon's anime sometimes gets into it, but origins behind most shinies are still unknown.

    Light-Shifted monsters with Utopia are a really nice addition to any team *Grants 3 charges to every party member at the start of the turn (1 charge stack increases your monster's next attack damage by 3% so that's a free 9% you're getting for your next attack, and charges can stack ontop of one another so long you haven't attacked so you can literaly set up your buffs/shields first to farm some charge stacks and then hit with the force of a vengefull Brutus)*

  • @Bradypodidus
    @Bradypodidus 3 роки тому

    Cool, very helpful. Do the shifted monsters have other Advantages besides the additional passive effect?

    • @TheFearsomeRat
      @TheFearsomeRat Рік тому +1

      More or less just the passive and some stat boosts, not all shifts seem to be created equal however, like Dark Brutus is far more powerful then Light Brutus because of the Relentless passive which makes skills a quarter cheaper to use (Brutus has poor mana regeneration) and a two point boost to Brutus’ already massive attack stat compared to the one point of boost Light has but Light does have three points boost over Dark, but Dark also has more defense and health.
      Like some math, Brutus can boost heavy punch to about 130% extra (it already does 565% of physical damage), wit items, the crit chance reaches at least 93% and damage at least 95%, and will ignore 10% of DR, if the enemy survives the first it the second will ignore 35% of DR, now add on charge stacks that boost damage by another, 3/4% per stack,
      a monster like Dark Targoat that can boost Brutus equipped items effects by 30% via Blacksmithing the Dark passive and Armory skill tree passive and the combo system and you will be lookin at a heavy punch that will pretty much always crit, and always deal at least double damage, and for numbers you will be looking at potentially near 50,000 damage for a single attack, and for reference most bosses only get around 39,000 health max, and if it is a monster that is weak to neutral attacks, your looking at closer to 60,000 damage.

    Personally I like using, in this order only for increased combo damage, light fungi, dark vasuki, and dark specter. Fungi skills should be focused on additional debuff stacks, chance to debuff per hit skills along with every all additional procs, the one autoheal on the left most skill tree is nice. The idea for me was to stack poison and when not doing poison spam spire to proc tons off additional hits which in turn will proc more debuffs. 2nd is dark vasuki. Build him the same basically all debuffs,stacking debuffs and high hit procs and debuff procs. Focus on burn an poison and get the restores for your lights heals and debuff removal to make the lengthier of fights. (This build stacks massive damage so longevity isn't the aim here, as much as surviving longer than your enemy) vasuki can posion if fungi don't stick poisions of you can use burn to start the burn stacks for specter. Oh and vasuki has fire shield which not only is decent shielding for the team but it also cast burn on a random enemy...3rd is specter, you want his skills to compliment and top off the debuffing especially burn. There are 2, if I'm not mistaken, increased burn damage skill that just eat huge chucks of of health from any enemy. I also like to max out dark specters arcane beam thingy to finish of the huge combo chain and just proc a ridiculous amount of debuffs. Just make sure when ur getting everyone's skill to get all the skill that are setup up like " 10 % chance to add so and so debuff every hit" or "10% chance to add a random debuff every hit" with vasuki and specter in dark shift, they both have the dark passive skill debuff mastery which makes the DoTs really really pay out.

    Shiny pokemon are in the first game you just need to connect it to pokemon stadium. Some of the pokemon in stadium are the wrong color and if you name your pokemon the same name as that pokemon when you play pokemon stadium your pokemon will be the wrong color as well. But they did start the actual shiny mechanic in the second game because you can make any pokemon a shiny in red and blue if you give it the right name.

      @sissywizard1764 3 роки тому

      Your progress will be much faster and more successful if you go ahead and upgrade your most used items, leading you to earn more/better equipments later in the game. You can earn potentially infinite equipment from Reward Boxes and defeating monsters in battle (usually have to get at least 4-6 stars as a rating)

    • @sissywizard1764
      @sissywizard1764 3 роки тому

      Also you can buy materials based on your trainer rank, so don't be afraid that you'll have to go back and grind for everything back by battling.

    • @xenomorph420
      @xenomorph420 3 роки тому

      If you happen to be playing on pc, you can go-to the infinity arena or pvp and farm reward boxes...now each reward box has its own set of rare equipment (the item icon has yellow border) in each lvl of reward boxes.
      Now for the trick, open the box and if you dont like what you get hit alt+f4, this will close the game without saving. Then reload and reopen the box until you get the desired item (check wiki for reward box item pools). The game only saves when you save and quit from the menu, or you zone onto another screen. So just make sure you don't zone screens after you open the box and you can rinse and repeat for the drops you want/need! I'm sure this can be done on console, but I would assume it would be substantially longer due to the logistics of quiting with letting the game save. Btw your equips play a huuuuge role in the game stats wise. Like the previous reply was mentioning, generally try to keep the gear up to its part according to your progress in the game, traders u lock item tiers as your increase you keeper rank.

    For me, it's Dark Shifted Yowie, Dark Shifted Shockhopper then either dark shifted Fungi or dark shifted Imori. Otherwise known as 'all the DoTs'.
    Dark Yowie gets Overheal, which works with the passive heals from Supply, as well as his AoE active heal. This means he can use his group heal and not worry about 'wasting' it if only one party member is really hurt. Taunt + Icy Skin gives him a way of passively spreading Chilled, which with his Congeal aura, means more damage over time.
    Shockhopper gets Curse Chain, which makes up for the fact that all of his attacks are single-target, which normally makes it more difficult to spread them. But with multi-chill and multi-shock, and now the ability to proc them on other enemies as well, this gets nasty fast. Don't neglect Auto Restore to remove debuffs and DoTs almost as fast as enemies can pile them on! This is also your primary healer and debuff remover with the Restore skill tree. You don't need Mass Restore with Yowie in the party and with debuffs getting removed every time you attack. It also synergizes very well with Yowie's Congealed aura, by being able to apply multiple stacks of Chill and thus multiple triggers of Congealed.
    For the last slot, it depends on what enemies are vulnerable to. Fungi of course spreads poison and weakness, and makes debuffed enemies take additional damage in the bargain. Imori is for when you're running into things weak against physical (dragons and goblins, for example) or you feel like spreading even more Chill and Burn instead of Poison and Weakness, plus pile on Bleed stacks.
    The last two monsters in the party can be whatever you like to sub in. I'm currently using a neutral Scorch for more fire spread and burn stacking. You only get the one egg, it starts off neutral, so you have to spend a Shift Stone to manually shift it, and neither of his shifts seems particularly appealing for my play style. The final one I'm using is a Dark shifted Catzerker, because memes, even though it really is starting to not really compare, so I'm going to probably get rid of it at some point. Maybe a dark-shifted Occulus for general debuff stacking?

      Enemy scaling is based on what lvl you happen to be when you enter an area. When you enter an area for the first time, the monsters will be at ur current lvl or close to it. With that in mind, once you enter an area the monsters in that area no longer scale up with you as you lvl passed that lvl. As far as you getting to an end game area and calling those endgame monsters at a low lvl cuz ur at a low lvl, well that's balanced out with the greatest exploration framework to ever grace human existence, one word.... metroidvania!!! xD

I am back to playing Nioh 2 since I find the game more challenging and entertaining. Indie devs are fine but they need to look at main stream games and understand why they do so well.
