In men, hair often begins to recede from the forehead.
    Male-pattern baldness
Women tend to lose hair along the part.
    Female-pattern baldness
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) is sometimes preceded by itchy or painful scalp.
    Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata)
Repeated stress on the hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia.
    Traction alopecia
t's becoming increasingly common for menopausal women to experience frontal fibrosing alopecia, in which the hairline moves back.
    Frontal fibrosing alopecia
Hair loss can appear in many different ways, depending on what's causing it. It can come on suddenly or gradually and affect just your scalp or your whole body.
Signs and symptoms of hair loss may include:
Gradual thinning on top of head. This is the most common type of hair loss, affecting people as they age. In men, hair often begins to recede at the hairline on the forehead. Women typically have a broadening of the part in their hair. An increasingly common hair loss pattern in older women is a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia).
Circular or patchy bald spots. Some people lose hair in circular or patchy bald spots on the scalp, beard or eyebrows. Your skin may become itchy or painful before the hair falls out.
Sudden loosening of hair. A physical or emotional shock can cause hair to loosen. Handfuls of hair may come out when combing or washing your hair or even after gentle tugging. This type of hair loss usually causes overall hair thinning but is temporary.
Full-body hair loss. Some conditions and medical treatments, such as chemotherapy for cancer, can result in the loss of hair all over your body. The hair usually grows back.
Patches of scaling that spread over the scalp. This is a sign of ringworm. It may be accompanied by broken hair, redness, swelling and, at times, oozing.
    When to see a doctor
See your doctor if you are distressed by persistent hair loss in you or your child and want to pursue treatment. For women who are experiencing a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia), talk with your doctor about early treatment to avoid significant permanent baldness.
Also talk to your doctor if you notice sudden or patchy hair loss or more than usual hair loss when combing or washing your or your child's hair. Sudden hair loss can signal an underlying medical condition that requires treatment.
People typically lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. This usually isn't noticeable because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair doesn't replace the hair that has fallen out.

I lost my 23 year old son to suicide in December. He was severely depressed over several things but one thing I do know was that his hair loss severely impacted him. He became obsessed with it and talked about it nonstop three months prior to his death. He had been taking one of the hair loss medications but it wasn’t working well enough. So then we were looking at hair pieces together online and he found one he wanted to order and before purchase was made he took the permanent route. I miss him so much. I wish he could have held on just a little longer to give the hair piece a try 😩😭

I guess for most of us guys in late teens and early 20s experiencing exponential hair loss being depressed or suic*dal isn't a surprise. Its like one day you are in your early teens, and then suddenly you turn into a deteriorating 60 old man. Its literally like you never get to live your youth. That part of life is literally snatched by you. For men experiencing hair loss in early 20s, you just get to live your childhood and then middle/old age, and you just need to survive your youth years with depression, anxiety, lack of confidence and constant metal agony. Its not about just looking bad, its about looking extremely weird. You look like a literal freak with extremely thin hair in your early 20s. It is a time, where you are at the start of your prime, where you need to build your career, network with people, be confident, travel the world, meet a lot of people, make friends and relationships. And guess what, hair loss destroys all of that. It makes you an empty shell of yourself and take away your golden years where you need to set foundations for a successful life. God really did us men with male pattern baldness dirty.

You're so right, I experienced the same thing, a lot of people with a full head of hair kept telling me it's just hair, just shave it off and don't worry about it, so I did this and I looked like I was 60 year-old cancer patient, the response from those around me and other people was clearly noticeable, the shocked and pitying looks from my circle of friends, the clear rejection of the female population, all the girls distanced themselves, you were ignored everywhere, despite good references, I received a lot of rejections in my professional life , you were out of social life, so to speak, it just hurts, my life has been just survival for a long time, there is hardly any joy and fun in life anymore, we live in a time where your appearance decides your life, If someone then says it's just hair, you have no self-confidence, it's all just your imagination, then I could freak out, the hair loss has destroyed my life, I had and still have a huge panic about looking like my father, the shape of our head is just horrible without hair,

My way to cope is going to the gym but even if I have a decent physique, I'm still really insecure about my hair loss. I can totally relate to the story as I went through almost the same experience in my mid-20s. Finally decided that when I turned 30 and my hair did not return (it didn't), I would do something about it. I went for a hair system and probably 95% of my confidence returned. It's 100% true. The only reason I'm not currently suicidal is because of my aggressive treatment regimen. I use dutasteride and oral minoxidil every day, which helped a lot with hair restoration. Finasteride on its own wasn't strong enough. There is hope as long as my drugs continue to work.

      @haku0103 Рік тому

Dutasteride has some warning inside the box. Although it reduced the risk of low grade prostate CA, some studies have shown it increases the risk of high grade prostate CA. That and the lower libido side effect, and developing tolerance, i opted to stop it.

It started with a receded hairline, and then I had diffuse thinning for my hair on top. You should use finasteride every day if you want it to work. If you want to use a lower dose, then cut it to 0.25mg or 0.5mg. It has a short half-life, so it won't work if you use it infrequently.

First do a search for local hair replacement services in your area. If you can't find anyone that deals with male hair replacement services, look into online sellers for hair systems. Lordhair, etc. Find a shade and size that would fit you. (There are lots of youtube tutorials that can guide you with this). Go to a few different salons and show them some pictures or videos of hair systems, and them being cut in, ask them if they would be willing to help you with installing a hair system. Many competent stylists would be willing to do the cut in for you. It's a bit of a learning curve, but one of the best choices you will make in your life. Check out Curtis and Hair By MHE on youtube for a lot of great advice, too.

Yeah I've been thinking about kms all day 2 months into my minoxidil shed.
I have not enjoyed having a picture taken since I was a child. Nobody in my family had hair loss, I was the youngest in my family and the only one losing his hair because it came from my mom's side. I wanted to get on Propecia when I was in college, but my mom said no way because there is no cure for hair loss and it is snake oil. I basically gave up on life at that point praying for a cure to come out (always just 5 years away).
So now I'm possibly beyond the point of no return and miserable with my past, present, and future. There is obviously more to the story than just my hair, but the hair loss at a young age destroyed what little confidence I was developing. I feel I have not lived a life that was worth living.

Listen I started losing my hair in my mid 20's and it hasn't stopped any part of my life. It sucked! All my co-workers know I'm bald on top. I used it as a way to empower myself and swap out hair for styles like women do all the time. My next project is a unit that has a shadow root with a fashion color with the severe undercut you preach against. Haven't decided on pink or purple. The fact I have started going bald on top has nothing to do with the fun I have with it. I'm also not trying to go for a "natural" look. I don't care what people think of me but you are damn right I love my soon-to-be purple hair. We live in a world where women can literally change their hair from one day to the next with one method or another. Who cares how you get it. Your appearance is like a blank canvas however you decide to enhance or alter it is your choice and affects nobody else. I'll say this. The fact I own it and have a happy vibe about me does affect how others see me and my fun. Your depression stems from you caring about what others think. Trust if everyone was bald and it was the norm you wouldn't care about it. You get to an age where the amount of fks you give is so low that all that is left is to enjoy your life. LIVE! LOVE! LEARN!

Quick question, I would really appreciate if someone who had a hair transplant done can answer this
Let's say I get the transplant done today, how long will it take for visible difference? I'm talking about FUE transplant to mainly cover the front of the scalp and not the crown
I have gone for few consultations in the past and each time they asked me to wait before going for it. It is so irritating because they could have just done it and I could have started medication in parallel. Instead they asked me to continue with the medication before doing it

Its true u need to stable your hair loss progression before getting a hair transplant or else, it will fall out again. And after u get a hair transplant, it would take a bout 8-12 months to see the result

I’m 19 and have DUPA (had a biopsy done on my donor area as well as the scalp)
I’m not even tall or good looking so I’m basically screwed.

Sorry to know that. DUPA here as well. Have u ever considered a full cap hair system? Or smp on the sides and back alongside with a "normal" hair system?

@@ronaldojosegroto8746 I’ve considered SMP, but a hair system really only works if you have hair on your donor area. Full cap systems look “off” to me

@@bloopy6166 i get it. I haven't seen many of them actually. I hope u can find the best alternative for your situation. I am going to start mesotherapy with dutasteride on my donor area next week - let's see if can get some regrowth.

@@bloopy6166 thanks. Yes, it is. The price ranges from 340 to 530 reais/session (65 to 100 American dollars), which is quite expensive for Brazilian standards. Where are you from?
