Vader showing up at the end was like “hey you know how it took hours it took to feel powerful up to this point? You feel pretty powerful as a Jedi huh? Yeah that’s not gonna help here. Just run”
Vader feels much more menacing in this as hes destroying trained jedi over helpless rebels (the handover scene from rogue one)
To be honest that's pretty much what would happen to any Jedi when encountering Vader. Only Obi-wan (to a certain extent) or Luke would be able to match him
@Dráuzio VrauNellas the only reason those two survived was because he wasnt going for the kill
@@liszt646 wym to a certain extent, he wooped vader 2 out of 3 times
I'm hoping for a rematch in Survivor. Don't get me wrong, Cal obviously can't match Vader but with 5 additional years of training & experience he should be good enough to not get completely stomped; he has some very impressive feats considering his history.
I actually loved the Vader ending, that feeling of helplessness in the face of his overwhelming power. No way to even land a strike on him much less beat him. It reminds you why the Jedi are in hiding.
It also shows that Vader is a threat beyond anything Cal could possibly take care of.
Both him and Cere barely escape simply because of luck.
@@stumbling_i do wonder what themes they go into into to make the ending of this story feel satisfying. It can't be the typical you beat the big bad thing since Vader can't be beaten in this story.
Can’t wait for Survivor. Tried out fallen order in 2021 and was surprised by how amazing the story and gameplay was
Sameeeee
Storm troopers: literally have faster stronger unblockable melee skills
The jedi: swings lightsaber like a club
This game is literal trash and it's a terrible adaptation of the star wars universe
The bugs are literally omni-present, and anybody who doesn't think so is probably really into this game to a point of actively ignoring portions of their experience
This is a tossed together unreal engine clusterfuck of bad coding and game design choices just thrown together for the fuck of it
@@binkbonkbones3402 You must’ve played a different game because I’ve beat the game and beat ng+ with minimal bugs on ps5, and loved every aspect of the combat(grandmaster difficulty), exploration, story, and lore in this. Survivor is gonna be even bigger and better.
@@binkbonkbones3402 the new game has better dismemberment I played the fuck out of the first game and even played it and finished it on multiple platforms the bugs were never an issue nor major
@@binkbonkbones3402 Failed attempt at trolling
With them finally giving us fast travel I thankfully won’t be getting lost anymore like I was on Zeffo trying to get back to the Mantis
The backtracking was one the few things I really hated.
@@aleksejsmiscuks4138 Everyone hates backtracking.
@@aleksejsmiscuks4138 me too! i got lost on the desert planet and it took me hours glad they are finnaly adding it!
Effing Zeffo....I HATED that map
Kashyyyk was annoying
Interesting that you didn't think the ending of the game was coming up. I thought it was telegraphed pretty well with the gang obtaining the macguffin, and the boss fight that actually leads to you beating Trilla. Was it rushed? Probably, but it was definitely clear, at least to me
Same here. Also I think the Vader sequence being short was also a positive. It reinforced that he's so powerful that you either escape him quickly or you're dead.
Yeah. There were a lot of weird complaints in this review. The ending was telegraphed very well. Even while breaking into the base, I figured the game was about to end.
@Sexy Offender actually made me really happy that we DIDN'T fight him in this game. And I hope we don't fight him in the second game either. First time that recent star wars has remembered how scary vader really is
It makes me think he just skipped the cutscenes. (espually since he barely brought up the story.)
I loved the puzzle sections on Zeffo. That planet just seemed like there was no end to the things you could find.
I've never understood the hate for the running animation
It does look kinda weird at first, but after a while it didn't even bother me. Some people are just bow legged. Lol
Seems like it's just how the actor runs as he did the mocap
Same. People just like to complain
All the animations are so jerky and unnatural that it gives me anxiety.
It is goofy but like it wasn’t an issue. If anything, I miss it now in Survivor.
How did Luke not get any seeds?! You trip over at least half of them just following the story... Love the game and am really excited for Survivor.
I cannot stress enough just how friggin often I forgot force slow existed
Why slow an enemy if you can pull them onto your blade or push them off a conveniently placed ledge?
I love the game. I'm currently on my 3rd playthrough and I've never even thought about his running animation. And until now I had a hard time with the puzzles.
I just finished my 5th playthrough 🤣
Literally the first thing I thought of when controlling Cal was "why does it look like he crapped his pants" lol. Be glad that you don't see it.
The puzzles are the reason i never wanted to replay the game in the first place, such a waste of time and huge gamebreaker and destroying the pace of the game for me. If it's the same BS in the sequel i'm not touching that stuff. Glad to see it's not a gamebreakers for others.
Cal’s jogging animation is goofy af. No dedicated slow walk key on PC is a crime. 2/10 game. 2 points for Vader.
@@ricardomeijer7164 Same for me. I got so tired of the puzzles and platforming. I never even finished it.
The inconsistency of the planets always stood out to me with this. Zeffo feels so open and varied, with tons of alternate paths, whereas Kashyyyk and Dathomir feel like incredibly linear action story game levels
I actually liked how the main meat of the game was more game focused than story focused.
I liked running around and exploring planets, but I do wish it could’ve been a little more linear at the beginning with what planet to choose first.
Well they specifically put a bold yellow jedi symbol on Zeffo while Dathomir is completely unmarked. To me it seemed pretty obvious that they only allowed you to go there so early in order to add something to mix up your playthrough on a second run.
17:06 when I replayed JFO I noticed that there were multiple places where you needed unlocked abilities to progress through them. not just one per planet
Yeah there’s way more of that involved than he makes it sound like. I’m guessing it was an issue of not enough exploration by him.
Jedi Fallen Order is the perfect game for ADHD people. First you're a Jedi explorer, then a Jedi tarnished, then a Jedi puzzle solver, you keep shifting games within the same world without losing interest in it for other stuff. Nice.
Basically lol
I fuckin love the game and at no point felt about it like Luke... even down to the animations, I like them tbh! I get the game has some issues, but the thought that Survivor is gonna be EVEN BETTER gets me way beyond excited
Thanks Luke. I'm guilty of finishing the game and never going back and as I was watching this video I reinstalled it to go back and collect all the things I missed when I first played it 4 years (4 years!?) ago.
I feel like the first fight against the second sister is also just a part of the tutorial. It shows you how one on one combat against more powerful complex enemies works.
I`m extremely excited for Jedi Survivor because it looks like they will push combat even further, as well as made traversal better too with fast travel options. I loved the first game enough that I wanted to get all achievements but some of those backtracking area were a real slog. I know it`s not a great idea to get overly hyped for a game but to me this is right up there with what my anticipation levels were like for Elden Ring, Doom Eternal, and Arkham knight. Honestly my main concern is just hoping we don`t have a broken PC port like there have been with so many launches lately like The Last of Us, Midnight Suns, and Calisto Protocol.
Another quality upload from you to make my day! Can wait to sit, relax and enjoy this. Keep up the awesome work Luke
Over the years I've completed the story a few times on different diffulties and recently I got the platinum trophy for Jedi Fallen Order in preparation for Jedi Survivor. Love this game, serious replay value and it aged very well. Very excited for the sequel
ditto
Your points are so relatable to what i've been thinking about this game for afew days. Thanks for the review
Something else you didn’t mention and that they talked about in the documentary we can find in the bonus section of the game: Disney’s involvement.
They would have those very frequent meetings (almost daily?) with Disney representatives and pretty much ANYTHING (specifically story-wise) they put into the game had to be greenlit beforehand by those people.
And this is, I think, a pretty time-consuming extra step that probably limited them heavily on what they originally wanted this first game to be like.
Hopefully with the success of Fallen Order, they gave them way more freedom and trust this time around, and from what we’ve seen up until now, it seems to be the case.
Here’s hoping 🤞
Jedi Fallen order will always hold a special place in my heart for the some reason that because it was successful EA was like “oh single player games can actually sell well? Hey BioWare you guys can make the next dragon age a single player game if you want” and then they did that.
The puzzles will be optional and kind of a side thing for extra rewards, which is a really nice update to the formula. They’ve really listened to the fans, except for the running animation. Though it does look a little better imo.😅
Didnt play it when it first came out but i think i played it in like 2021 or 2022 because it was on sale and I'm glad I did, Loved playing it also loved 100% percenting everything was really fun can't wait to see how much bigger the sequel is and see all the new stances and Combat/the world they have in store for us in the sequel
Talk about coincidences - I JUST finished playing fallen order, refreshed UA-cam and here is this video. :D
Ready for the sequel!
Legitimately finished it last night, was thinking the same thing 💀
Guilty of playing this game 3 times in the last 365 days 💀
My biggest problem was that there where so few one on one lightsaber boss fights. Also those bossea felt somehow weird. Cant explain better.
disagree,
3 opponents was enough, (and 4 fights with one of them) lightsaber wielding opponents should be an extreme rarity.
Yeah but you cannot really add more without breaking canon
@@breadhead8085 it's Disney, Canon is fucked either way
@@breadhead8085 yeah we need a game like this set in the Old Republic.
The other way I can think off is to have other, smaller force/lightsaber practicing cult that is not part of Jedi or Sith, like the Legions of Lettow.
All of the jedi in hiding and the sith aren't known for having lots and lots of recruits. Wouldn't make sense to have more lightsaber duels.
Fallen Order is my favourite game ever. Saber combat is amazing, Story is amazing. Can't wait for the Sequel, looking like it's going to be even better!
I've platinumed the game, I do not regret the grind one bit, 10/10 game, absolutely fantastic
@@AbeHopwood Also 100% the game. Beautiful game!
Can wask you what you liked about the story? I wanted to be invested, but unfortunately it did not happen, therwise I loved the game!
@@mattis13 I love Star Wars. Cal's journey to regain his abilities with the force. And the want to rebuild the Jedi Order whilst being hunted by the Empire.
@@BumbleBlaster I understand that really well ! I would love to see the interpersonal relationships being examined in more detail in the sequel
Sub to my live stream highlights channel or I'll make Cal run EVEN WEIRDER: www.youtube.com/@lukestephenslive
You couldn't if you tried!
Great video, I Finished it 1st time last week. Really liked it.
My biggest issues:
Lack of jedi powers in traversal(Cal feels more like Nathan Drake than Luke Skywalker in his movement capabilities.
Combat feels a little clunky and uneven at times(but contextually it makes sense as cal is a padawan for most of the game)
Not enough customisation for Cal, hair, clothes, general appearance(i love that stuff)
I like your room. Looks cozy. I just downloaded this to my PS5 from PSN in part because of your review and others. Thanks.
This made me re download and give it another shot tonight. Glad I did. Well done video as usal...Thanks again man. ✌️
I heard that puzzles are going to be entirely optional in survivor instead of being forced to get through them to progress the story it'll just be like you see it as you're playing and may or may not stop to complete it and earn an extra reward like a cosmetic or or something which sounds great
I sure hope so, man these puzzles killed all the fun out of the game's otherwise fine pacing
really? i dont even think im usually good at puzzles and they were a non issue for me. dont think i ever got stuck even for a minute
Wow, shocked to hear you had a buggy experience. I also played on Xbox One and I don't think I have ever experienced a single bug playing the game 4+ times completely through.
Hey been watching since the Lukie Poo days, respect for all the hard work. Though gotta say you look like you could use some sleep.
FINALLY someone talked about that horrendous running animation. All I see is people praising all the animations while I'm here like: "are you guys seeing the same thing as I am for real?"
Bro, it's been driving me nuts for years. It looks even worse in the sequel tbh
@@rinzler8272 true, it looks worse
Oh man, I cant wait to boot up Survivor on GM dif for the first time and just suffer whilst getting better and mastering the dual wield stance ❤
All those issues you described are the reason I paused my replay prior to release in order to watch this. Years later, I've no patience and am running thru on Normal. I got most items originally, and now I'll never get those most precious final bits.
I look forward to your Re-re-review in a few years time. :P
I'm replaying for the 3rd time in preparation for the sequel, one of the best games I ever played, combat is amazing, graphics, story, all the package. Just have some stuttering here and there because of clearly streaming data problems, I hope the sequel doesn't have performance issues, although its made on Unreal engine, so I'm not getting my hopes up for that.
Regarding this video, I agree with 50% of what Luke says, most of the things he doesn't like I actually like or just don't see the way he does like it being 3 games in one, for me I feel the devs did a good job on making it an organic experience, but yeah the running animation is probably something everybody agrees. Also, Luke didn't mention the worst offender of the game, the holographic map, it's easily for me the worst part of the game, I hope the map is better in the sequel because it's so confusing and hard to get orientation from it. Also, the ending is good in my opinion, I don't know why Luke felt it was abrupt, it ended in a cliffhanger that clearly pointed to a sequel.
Edit: I think the 9th sister is still alive.
Not to be a downer, but at launch it definitely will. It's a AAA game in 2023, it will be released at a borderline acceptable level and they will promise to fix the issues a few weeks to months down the line.
@@sassquatch571 I totally agree with you man, it's the new trend with gaming on PC.
Fallen Order was strangely sensational, Survivor looks like a GOTY based on the improvements alone
Sadly is gonna be overshadowed by Zelda coming out in two weeks because that is also gonna be a masterpiece
@@semillakan6 Hype isn’t everything. Survivor is an actually quality game
@@Max-qh6fk LOL so is Zelda and to a much larger degree
I played it around the launch, and my experience was pretty buggy. I think I share the common sentiment when it comes to the world, puzzles, maps, and traversal. It feels like a soup of things you've already seen before from other games you've probably played before. Uncharted, Tomb Raider, Sonic, etc. It doesn't do anything you haven't seen or does it to a new level. It's a very 6-8 out of 10 game, if you know what I mean. I don't think it would be as impressive if it wasn't Star Wars. However, despite this, I did have a good time with it. I'll get Saviour down the line.
I just finished playing the game for the first time and wow. It was amazing, especially the level building. Some of the planets feel like I’m actually exploring something and not just following a built path. My game was really buggy at first but the second half of the game was fairly bug free. Another thing I’ll say which I think I heard someone else say is that it feels a lot like Hogwarts Legacy which isn’t a bad thing.
Also how did people have a problem with the second sister fight in the beginning? It was great. So you can’t beat the final boss in the first mission, uhh good, or else that would be the end of the story. Like he said, you’re supposed to feel powerless. You are a Padawan who stopped training when he was like 12 and hadn’t really used the force or his lightsaber since then. On top of that it shows your progression in the game across the 3 fights. As you get more powerful, you get closer to beating her until you finally become a full Jedi and are able to beat her.
My biggest issue with this game was returning to the mantis objective when you should be able to fast travel back unless for plot reasons like the first zeffo trip, the map layout being awful with the 3D overlay and the trilla boss is kinda unfair in a way other bosses aren't.
for the running animation, I can only assume it's Respawn's inexperience with player characters in 3D, they're an FPS team and always have been so they've not really animated their primary controlled character's legs before, and before anyone says it, there is a difference for a player character, they can switch animation at any time, because you make them, so the animation framework needs to be adaptive, it seems they struggled to make Cal's animations loose enough to adapt to player control shifts, and probably didn't have the time to tighten it up a bit.
A good way to think about Fallen Order is that it is essentially a big-budget "proof of concept." WIth that in mind a lot of the flaws make sense and it sets up the sequel to be something potentially really special.
What you said about Wild Hunt is so true. I went into Witcher 3 fresh off Bloodbornes' platinum; I was a beast. I decided Witcher would be my "break from difficult" and just let myself get lost in the story & world, so I played on...something less than Death March, idk. I restarted after I trashed the cow monster on level 4, knowing it should be relatively difficult. You really can just brute force/skill the game on anything but the hardest setting.
Did anyone else have a delay on the block/parry button? Like I would press L1 and there was a good half a second delay. Was it just me or anyone else too?
You actually forgot about the third encounter with the Second Sister where you fight over the Holocron in Zeffo, so in total you fight her 4 times
Weirdly enough, the climbing claws were my favorite upgrade 😂
Same lol
I much prefer these kinds of reviews from Luke that focus on gameplay and systems to when he just talks about what happens in the story and why it does or doesn’t make sense.
The only thing I am really wanting for in the second game is being able to make your lightsaber a normal single-blade size. I didn't ever use the double-sided option but had to always run around stuck with the long variant. Definitely not a big deal and simply a personal annoyance.
I do believe that the under utilization of the different new abilities you pick up along the way is exacerbated by the game simply being short. Now I did platinum the game and I did feel when doing this, it fixed this and a lot of your concerns. But to that point, it means doing absolutely everything. So... longer length for the normal/laid back playthrough would of made it better. Constraints.
You can make the hilt shorter in survivor I’m pretty sure
Don't know if you've done one yet, and I know its not part of your type of content but you should do a home office tour. Looking to start mine in a new home and looking for inpiration
I have completed
This game three times, I love it. I really don’t have any of the gameplay variety complaints you do outside of maybe one puzzle. I first played it on Xbox one when it hit game pass. The hidden loading screens made me think my game was frozen and I reset the console lol. I liked that the incentive to backtrack was minimal and that this wasn’t an open world game. That being said, I wish there was some sort of basic fast travel system. Also, several of your gripes are taken care of if you take a few minutes to understand the map and what the symbols all mean. It marks obstacles you can come back to for you etc. I later played the game again when I got my series s and then again when I got a series X. This game was definitely a better experience on either of the latter consoles and I enjoyed it more each time I played through it. It just nails the “feeling” of Star Wars so well for me. Without the attachment to Star Wars I am aware I would not likely regard it as highly, but that is the point I think.
i tried to replay before as well, but man my issues with the game made me just stop on the first planet. The maps actively made me want to stop playing. Still hyped for the new game because Im sure they've fixed a lot of my issues. but going back was way tougher than I thought.
I finished a play-through earlier in the week. The parry in the game does seem inconsistent. I played on Jedi Master and often missed every parry, or the button seemed not to register. I was playing on an Xbox controller, then an emulated PlayStation dual-sense controller. The problem never went away.
On console the game is slower than on more expensive PCs, so maybe it's a question of holding the button instead of tapping it like in other games.
@@effervescentapricot7522 holding it is a block, parry functions differently
@@tony_tonelg I know, but tapping too quickly causes your block to fall before parrying and results in getting hit
People forget that Respawn Entertainment is basically the old Infinity Ward team that created Call of Duty and made Cod4 and MW2.
FYI, that’s not the only time you fight the grafted scion from the beginning of the game in Elden ring.
When I first played fallen order Zeffi was an absolute nightmare trying to find my way through it, constantly dying and getting lost. My least favorite of the planets for sure
How about the stutterting issue and fps drops ? Did you experience it ? I am trying to play it on Pc but its an absolute mess!
Claiming climbing a ledge is “obviously inspired by uncharted” seems like quite the stretch. Many games have climbing that is similar
Perfect timing of this video. I am currently playing Jedi Fallen Order for the first time.
Finished fallen order last week and I’m pumped full of suspicious fluids for the new one
you should try out titanfall 2 campaign. It's one of the best campaigns with extremely good level design. Respawn made it I would highly recommend it.
I’m really happy that respawn are listening to the critiques of fallen order and fixing those in Survivor
"I'm not the only one who thinks the running animation looks stupid." First time I've ever heard such a nonsensical nitpick
I've seen multiple people comment this and I totally agree. The ending was one of the best parts of the game. I don't know how big a Star Wars fan Luke is, but I think that might play a little into my love for it. I genuinely can't remember being caught of guard with the ending coming out of no where, but maybe it was because of how cool I thought the vader escape was.
playing this game after having played jedi survivor i was really suprised by how much easyer it was playing on grand master i had 4 stims by the final bossfight and did it without any problem
The first hour of Fallen Order reminds me of that preview of Star Wars 1313 that was canceled cause Disney bought the license.
Finished the game on the One X a couple of years back, tried playing it again recently on the series X and couldn't set the controls to my liking, way too tanky even with adjustments, I hope the situation is better with the new one.
i loved playing this game and I enjoyed exploring every nook and cranny. My only complaint was respawning enemies. This is a feature of just about every game but I hate it. I like to clear an area then explore at my leisure. Then if I forgot anything, I want to go back without having redo all the fights. As you mentioned, this is practically required in this game since you are level blocked on the first pass through. If I ever had a request to a game developer it would be to disable that feature or not include it at all.
I tried to play it multiple times whenever i get a star wars itch, but I could never get past zeffo, the intro section is amazing, I just love the atmosphere with the people going around, working and the small comments they throw at you as you go by, made the world feel alive but everything after that was not amazing, world started to feel dull and dead, everything thats alive is trying to kill you, this is same issue i have with games like gow and souls.
Everything trying to kill you isn’t really a flaw. That’s more of a personal issue. Either way in gow, dark souls and fallen order there are plenty of characters that don’t try to kill you.
Well you’re in luck because in Jedi Survivor there’s going to be npcs that aren’t just trying to kill you can actually give you side quests.
Basically no NPC's
Uncharteds free climbing was really fun in combat arenas
if you didnt understand the history of the inquistors i would understand how you would find it boring but those of us that knew likely thought it was unreal
feel like enemy types in survivor will be easier since u alr have the upgrades u needed in first game. the bosses n mini bosses just be challenging ones
Back then I played on a broken ps4 that would soft lock me in the intro when you were sliding before jumping onto the ship with cere just simply the mantis and cere didnt load in so I’d just drop to my death every time 😭
My nb 1 thing I didnt like about htis game was the amount of backtracking. It gets boring when it's very much the same thing but now has expanded by like 1/10th.
It's just a way to extend the lenght of the game artificially as you have ot go through the map to get there again. I much rather have completetly new areas where you feel a need to explore again, not just "rush to this new part and see whats in it"
I am so happy you brought up the run animation bc I thought I was the only one who cared 😂
I do not know why but I never realised or thought about order 66 being a genocide basically
I agree that his running animation looks goofy, but at the same time, I got used to it eventually. That's just how some people run, and that was probably the case for the motion capture here.
If they can tighten up the combat and make it feel more responsive than the first go-round, I'll be happy.
I kinda like Cal’s goofy ahh type running, kinda adds to the charm for me lol
This game for me was a definition of good ideas not polished enough, especially combat. The parry timings were not consistent, the animation locks were sometimes ridiculous and the whole “damage must be predictable and preventable” goes out of the window.
The plentiful healing upgrades and checkpoints felt like a crutch necessary for the game to function.
I really hope that they will improve on the combat in the sequel.
I got to the end of the first level of this game (after the tutorial) & realized I had to find my way back to the beginning of the level. Turned it off & didn’t ever play again.
I loved this game because it felt like a dream come true as a Star Wars fan. I hear lots of people complain that they’re tired of games based on Jedi but I argue no other game has come this close to lightsaber mechanics that feel this good.
17:47 or that’s probably how Cameron Monaghan runs…because that IS him mocapping his character, even in combat.
Sooo…can’t fix how somebody prefers to do things
I 100 percented this game 3 times back to back when it first came out (before they had new game+) and playing on grandmaster is definitely a lot more fun. I never really felt the tedium from the puzzles but I was also super hyped for the first real lightsaber game since Force unleashed and can definitely see how people could get annoyed or bored with it. I never really noticed the weird run and now I can’t unsee it so thanks for that lol. I never ran into any issues at all when I was playing on my original Xbox One. The performance actually got worse for me with the series x upgrade which kinda sucks.
I have platinum on this game. Traversing the map wasn't as hard as other people make it, but the achievement where you had to complete the holomap was annoying.
We must not forget... Respawn Made Titan Fall 2!!!!!! one of the best first person movement shooters ever!
I remember enjoying this game back in 2019 and I played it again on Xbox one and enjoyed again
22:50 Cyberpunk's investigation sequences
9:58 so you're telling me EA manufactured a feeling of "pride and accomplishment" 👀
I agree with you Luke regarding the puzzles. I got so far in Fallen Order, got annoyed with the puzzles at a certain point (after second fight with second sister I think) and switched to other games (gaming hours with my day job are few and far between lately)….I want to try again because survivor looks awesome but not sure.
it also happened to me, I quit during a puzzle and never returned to it
I forgot basic cognition is rare in gamers these days
The one thing that make me enjoy jedi fallen order even more is the fact that respawn added the option in the game options which allow to delegate the horrific button mashing QTEs to the computer to handle it.Thank God for that.I hate button mashing QTEs like those in Naruto series games,God of War the original trilogy etc.Not to mention you kill the controller button in the most brutal way and killing the controller as a whole when you throw it to the ground in frustration when you fail them repeatedly. More games need to implement these. Also I interact with every system and explore everything in the game regardless of whether I am playing on normal or hard difficulty. This was programmed in me when I played the Witcher 1 which was my first RPG game. This game is no exception to that rule.
Totally agree on the strangeness with parries and combat. Cal’s running was one thing; it was odd, but you get used to it. But I played Fallen Order after beating Sekiro and it was shocking how much harder it felt to parry and fight in general in this game. Something about the fluidity of the animations made them way harder to track. I only got better when I learned the golden rule: almost everyone in Fallen Order is faster than Cal. Never try to trade attacks, it always ends badly for you. Cal is COMICALLY slow sometimes, which is even weirder considering what Dark Cal is capable of in the training mode
I never did any of the side quests, so at the end of the game I had 3 stims 😂
Couple things come to mind here:
1) I don’t really see Trilla coming off as a mustache-twirling Star Wars villain at first as a bad thing if a large part of the plot was dedicated to exploring Cere’s trauma and mistakes after Order 66. Like, isn’t that the point? I feel like it would be dragging the intro out way too long to try to fully flesh out the villains in the opening sequence. Their purpose there was just to be the immediate threat, the call to action
2) Small spoiler, but you can get the double bladed lightsaber within the first few hours of the game. You can’t explore Bogano that deep the first time and you don’t have to go to Zeffo immediately, you can go to Dathomir instead. Now, does Dathomir kinda suck if you have very limited abilities and Force/Health? For sure, especially getting to that first meditation point. But it’s certainly doable if you know what you’re doing.
I mean, just look at Survivor’s file size. It’s about 150gb for basically every platform, minus the Series S for some reason. The scope is going to be SO much bigger. It’s gonna be crazy. Can’t wait to play it
Jedi Fallen Order has been in my Steam library for over a year and I haven't played it once, Jedi Academy is the last light saber game I've played and I had a good time. I'm going to play Fallen Order now as who knows when I'll get another chance.
Perfect timing to, the 2nd game comes out next week
Rumor has it in order to capture the running animation they put a can between cams cheeks and told him to run as normal as possible
ghost of tsushima did the same thing with the impossible boss fight at the beginning
I think this review is a bit strange because of course a villain gets introduced and they’re just bad. It’s the course of a game that you learn more about all the characters including the villains.
Which you do.
It’s also like the tonal shift throughout the game, it starts different then how it ends because you play Cal and he changes and grows throughout his journey. Going from a scared Jedi Padawan to a confidant and strong Jedi Knight.
It’s a puzzle game at it’s core, all the planets have some puzzles… some more than others.
Zeffo and Ilum having the most and Kashyyyk/Dathomir being more straight forward. I think they nailed it with the balance though. I wouldn’t want just constant puzzles all the time and I wouldn’t just want constant combat, it comes in waves and honestly it works so well.
There was only one puzzle that was really tedious and that’s the one you showed, where you need to burn the chain. I think the rest are pretty straight forward and kinda fit the lore of it being a temple only fully able to explore with the use of the force.
Either way though all these things are essentially being improved in the next game regardless. Combat, puzzles, exploration, pacing… all being improved upon.
Edit Point: purple boyos are purge troopers and they’re meant to be the hardest thing besides bosses since they’re specially trained to take out Jedi. Hence the bizarre attack patterns that are hard to read/block. It is possible they’re just weird and I’m pretty sure it’s done on purpose.
