Also, BD-1 is the coolest fucking droid in all of modern Star Wars, whoever designed him knocked it out of the park. He's like R2-D2 meets Wall-E, brilliant shit.
Performance matters to me because it's not just visuals, fps affects the responsiveness of a game and timing, which is extra important in Souls like combat. What really concerns me is the reviews that say "we're promised a launch day patch that fixes XYZ" and the patch does not, but the reviewers scored it based on promised fixes. Reviews should be based on the game in hand not promises that could be unfulfilled for a significant period (ex Darktide), and if an update comes up that fixes issues, i think it's valid to edit the score or do a follow up article or video.
I disagree there’s no point reviewing something that no one else will be able to play so if your told that when people get it it will work then you review it like that
@@ManLikeJimothy here’s the problem with reviewing like that and why I think it ruins the integrity of a review. You’re taking an objective review of a game as it is at that point in time and making it speculative based how it MIGHT perform when a day one patch comes out. It’s completely asinine and reviewers shouldn’t be asked to do something so unreasonable. All we should expect of them is to give us a review on what they have in hand. Trying to score a game review based on what a game might be like on a day one patch is starting to become more and more like predicting the weather these days. Your meteorologists could tell you that it should be warm and sunny but all it takes is an unexpected cold front from the north and now Kansas has a tornado.
@@ManLikeJimothy thats some pretty dumb logic, everyone will start playing the game when it releases wtf kind of logic is that?
Yea the performance issues take me out of the experience so much sometimes its disappointing.
It should have launched with a better frame rate to be sure, but Bloodborne is and has always been 30 fps and is considered one of the greatest games ever made.

Just finished the game the last night, it’s the best Star Wars story we have had in a long time.
The senator is definitely a good guy. He is for sure the protagonist of the story, you can tell by his shark teeth and evil dead looking eyes.
He could just be like a Russian, how they always seem annoyed with everything.
It's great to see that Charles from RDR2 survived for 300 years and is still living a happy life!
Sekiro! Also Kotallo from Horizon FW. Apparently he's a popular voice for Star Wars side characters.
I'm enjoying it on the ps5 but it can have some rough framedrops in battles or cutscenes
It’s the kind of cycle where you see what they wanted to do and they did it amazingly but fps is a real iffy something
For me, it keeps setting itself back to quality mode when I watch cutscenes. That could be why you’re getting frame drops as well.
im also playing this on the ps5 but till now (i just met grease) no major framedrops happend to me yet
@@yocone I haven’t had many problems with it I’ve only had the one glitch where the game shut down but other than that it’s been fine

@@willbyrn5920 it runs steady 30 fps but 30 doesent look anywhere close 50. 30 fps looks terrible
Hi Luke, following your video I would like to say that yes, I believe it does matter when a game is released in this state with some considerable performance issues because it's not ready and hasn't been optimised properly, or as is the case with so many games these days, relying on post game release time to patch it up. I have been weighing up whether to get this game on pc or console but as it currently stands it doesn't seem to be worth getting right now.
Im playing on performance mode on PS5, I’ve only gotten 3 hours of game time but so far I have experienced countless frame drops, overheating, and even crashing the entire console twice. It is seriously frustrating as I experienced the exact same things with the PS5 Fallen Order and I expected a to be able to play a bit longer before i have to let the console chill outz
I’m about three hours in an and experienced no game crashes and only a couple minor frame rate drops
@@iCHRIS-x definitely not its from sony but it is the OG version though, i guess its just aging. Ventilation is fine and I cleaned it before I bought RE4remake and had similar problems, not nearly as much as this game though in three hours.
I just beat star wars Jedi survivor yesterday. So far its my new game of the year I want a sequel and I also loved star wars Jedi fallen order.
The first sentence about the game was indeed my experience 😂 I opened it up was super excited, got a drink, cleaned up my gaming space getting ready to play, and when I started playing my heart dropped like my fps 😢 (PS5)
I had the same today...it's eight o'clock in the evening here now and stopped playing after defeating the 9th sister. I was actually planning to play all night, but that's not going to happen. I'm so disappointed...
@@matsie3134 was tempted to get it, guess I’ll just wait. Still excited to play it though.
Defaut for the game is Resolution mode on the Ps5. You have to change to performance mode in the consol setting .
FightinCowboy started a Lets Play of the game today on a Xbox and its playing and looks good.
He did shut off RT. If the X box can play it so can the ps5.
@@Crashed131963 it is on performance mode, still inconsistent, performance mode, film grain off, Chrome AB off, FOV narrow. Still no good, just going to wait until patch
On series X I switched to quality mode because the performance mode was so janky. I think it’s honestly better having a somewhat stable 30 fps than having like 50 and dipping to 20 every time more than 5 objects show up on screen
@@kelonnasmir9320 yeah I think I get a more stable frame rate on quality mode honestly seems like perf makes it drop below 30 if that’s even possible
That’s what happens to me on ps5 I’ve played on quality mode and it’s been fine minus here and there it’ll drop for like a split second and then be fine
Even this first cut scene looks very stuttery and low fps? Is this just the capture, because I'm surprised he didn't, mention it.
Talking about the lower resolution in order to hit 60, there is no way this is at 60 from what I'm seeing, unless its just your capture dude. Its super obvious that its way lower.
This video was probably recorded a tad bit BEFORE the shills turned against it for clout
This is present in all the cutscenes I’ve gotten to so far. Very disappointing for “performance mode”
The 30 fps was rough at first but after an hour I got used to it, I’m playing on series s and don’t have any other technical issues to note
I tried the first one a few times and the game never caught me unfortunately, and I have no idea why. Maybe this second one will make me eager to go back to play the first before starting it..
i doubt that tbh, if you play a lot of games jedi FO is just a bunch of mechanics from other games you already played. it is also rough on performance on ps4 and pc to this day. This new on seems like waaay more of the same and not in a good way if you didnt like the first one, the only thing that got me through the first game was being a star wars fan.
If the first one didn't catch, what makes you think the second one even would? That makes 0 sense.
Maybe its just isnt your style of game?
Im personally is an ass with blocking in games and these SW games leans heavily on timing blocks, so not my thing really
Was wondering if I should get this on PS5. I don't know if your capture card is busted or what, but the framerate issues I could see here were "yikes" level bad. When you turned on Quality mid-fight and it dropped to roughly 12 frames per second that's where I had enough.
and the ps5 runs the best out of every option right now even the series x for some reason is struggling to keep at 60 out of combat where the ps5 can at least hit that

Luke, did you see the speeder Anakin and Obi-Wan drove in Attack of the Clones? It was on the dock with the blue speeder.
23:53 I think the cutscenes are rendered in real time, since you can pause and change outfits seamlessly while they're playing. Hence the frame rate issues
You think that is the reason? Everything outside of cutscenes slow down all the time, as well, and that's not a reason.
@@SizeThickPlz He is saying that the cutscenes have frame rate issues because they are being rendered just like the level and character models are during gameplay, lots of games have pre rendered cutscenes which are typically just videos being shown to the player. No need to be rude with false information.
@@SizeThickPlz brother if you knew what you were talking about you’d understand your point is the same as mine. They wouldn’t slow down if they were just videos, and you wouldn’t be able to change your fit. That’s probably why they have the same performance issues as the gameplay, like he wondered in the video. It’s not expertise it’s common knowledge but it’s okay if you don’t understand. Just relax and take a deep breath.
My guess is that they have some serious performance issues and automatically disable vsync when the fps drops below 60.
Horrible optimization. Crazy how some people seem to want to defend million dollar corporations and claim its “perfectly playable” at a premium price.
Funny how we are in the “next gen” but games do not look vastly superior and they run just as bad.
I genuinely don’t believe anyone saying it runs ‘perfectly’ on their PS5 lmao.
Never seen your channel a day in my life until today because I was interested in this game. Informative, funny, and spot on with stopping and looking at the background, what a outstanding review, not too nerdy, straight facts and kept me interested the whole time, certainly earned my sub and like, well done bro.
I’ve not really had a problem with it yet I’m on ps5 and the only weird thing I noticed was when you first use the split lightsaber stance I thought that looked a bit weird and laggy but other than that no issues
Yeah I had a visual bug and that’s about it, just the double blade was showing while I was using the dual saber stance, but it was a visual bug that got fixed after I died in the boss fight lol 😂
I'm going to buy it sometime in June probably, when it's been properly patched and I can get it 30% cheaper. I never buy games on release.
Once you're a few hours into the game framerate takes a huge nose dive. I was shocked. Sucks because it doesn't get bad until its to late to return
Love u man for the shoutout regarding people working their asses of, youve done well for yourself ❤
It's funny because the narrative, combat, and level design are freaking incredible but then it runs like crap anytime you are in the fully open world. Excited for the patches. Even with the hiccups though I'm having a blast.
I started playing on Saturday (on PS5) and have been obsessed. I haven’t noticed almost any of the things you’re talking about.. I’m wondering if the game has been patched, or if I’m just blissfully ignorant. The only things I’ve noticed are* maybe a few frame drops which I never care about as it doesn’t affect the fun I’m having, and a couple of times when entering an area that just loaded you see some textures take shape.. but again, that’s something that happens in games. People have been complaining about it a ton and it’s entirely lost on me. I absolutely am loving this game thus far, it’s easily my favorite game I’ve played in the last year or so. Thanks for the video!
Wait no @luke there must be something wrong with the capture. The video looks supper sluggish with frame drops all over the place. In quality mode it was 10-20 fps at best and you were saying its okay so i am lost
Jedi Fallen Order had some of THE best UI Designs in video games, ever. I was just absolutely swept and mesmerized by the interface of that game. Haven't played Survivor yet but I assume it's just as good
"She has kinda dead eyes" the forshadowing is insane
'For a Jedi, he moisturizes well"
A thing Darth Vader could have said.
Oh wow I heard stuff but honestly didn’t expect it to run that bad. Hopefully they can fix it soon!
Luke’s point still stands for me, the opening is usually most polished… and if this is looking bugged from the go, I’m going to hold off :/
Hello Luke, good to meet you. I just saw your review on Ryse: Son of Rome and thought, wow this is amazing! Great analysis on the game. Austin TX is a nice city for sure! I’m from there, love the food and the atmosphere! Good job on analyzing Jedi Survivor. I hope more episodes will come out soon. Have a good night
I played it for 5 or 6 hours on an Xbox series S yesterday and didn't notice any performance issues or really any issues.
Ps5 with my upgraded SSD and zero issues with Jedi Survivors
I feel like when the biggest compliment you can give to a game is that the transitions to cut scenes are good....we might be drinking the copium.
The difference between Consoles and PC is that when a game is horribly optimized on PC, you can at least tweak some settings and apply external fixes to improve performance.
On console however, just wait and pray the devs do something. 😢
Ain't no way I paying a $70 game then waiting until it get fix!
32:55 Shout out to YOU Luke, for providing content for all of us while providing for your own family!
i played nearly all day and i'm absolutely loving it! they took all the best elements from the first game and improved on basically everything
Same as the first game, technical mess with nonstop frame drops on overkill hardware. Wow, I'm really surprised EA!
It's rough on PS5 but it's unplayable on PC... really recommend to everyone who hasn't gotten the game to wait 6 months or so, you'll enjoy it much more when all the bugs and perfomance have been improved.. such a shame, they keep releasing unfinished games when they know about all the problems...
The worst thing about this game for me atm is that it's official price is 80€ but some stores are selling it for 62€ within the week if launch before upping the price, so either I get it now or I'll have to wait a long time...
Hello Luke it’s to see you are doing a video based on PS5, will you be doing a video for the XSX. I’m really enjoying your content , keep it up👍
Hello from atx. Glad you had fun here bro
Played the first 2 hours on PS5 today (Just Coruscant and the first boss) and it's playable but there are a lot of framedrops on performance mode, especially when there's fire particle effects. But it runs a hell of a lot better than what i've seen of the PC version.
The PC version is weird. It runs great on some PCs, and badly on other PCs that should be as fast or faster.
I don't even know of a performance mode and I'm on xbox series s. It runs pretty smoothly, one time have I noticed a... bit of lag or a delay in framerate but other than that I think its absolutely fantastic. Jedi Fallen Order was absolutely incredible and made my year for games in a tough time. Survivor so far, and I'm maybe an hour into it, has been absolutely insane. I'm going to 100% this game like I did fallen order and replay it like every few months because it's THAT amazing.
Talking about launch of games with odd stutters Days Gone says hello. I loved that and the small technical issues didn’t affect my enjoyment at all.
this game is like ragnarok. DLC. im tired of being resold the the same games with different cutscenes. I miss the days where a sequals feels like a different game
The setting of the city is beyond magnificent.
I will buy the game after a few patches have been released, bugs ironed out etc..
But only when I get access to my EA games library again. EA completely f*cked up with EA App.
Isn't it normal practice to hire more people for dev and lay them off when a project nears completion? if that's the case i don't think we should drop the bar because it seems like a strategic choice to shorten payment cycles at the expense of completed work - they rather cut the cycle early and get some payroll back than keep those people on for a little extra to iron out all of the refinement so if we drop the bar i think its actually just they'll continue to miss it until it reaches some critical low point where it becomes a brand risk
At somebody that grew up on the NES, I get a huge kick out of us in modern times complaining about screen tearing in games that might as well be photorealistic in real-time.
We've got it so fucking good, yet we nitpick about things that we would have killed to have had even 10, 20 years ago. If this game came out in the 90s, it'd be the best videogame of all-time.
the video record itself suffered from turning off performance though did you use the PS5's own 4k capture or did you use your pc gpu or external capture
This is performance mode? The video at least is running at like 25 fps.
The intro was rough. Like... performance mode ran at what felt like 40fps (probably 50).
However: this was before the full download was finished. You cant proceed to koboh before the download is complete, and since i got there it runs way better. Only a few framedrops. I wouldnt call it bad and its a mild inconvenience at worst.
I strongly recommend finishing the download before playing. It will most certainly help
Running this on my series s 10 hours in and no issues, sadly the series s is the only console that seems fine
Im playing on xbox series s, with absolutely 0 issues. Strange how people have such varying experiences
I just started playing Fallen Order because of all the hype about the sequel. So if I keep up the pace of catching up games I'm sure Survivor will be playable on PC by the time I get to it :D
I’ve been playing on quality mode and only once or twice have I noticed significant frame drop. Maybe because I played it on day 3 after day 1 updates but on my ps5 it’s been great
I feel like the most recent Star Wars games are for people like me who don’t really care much about the story, and more focused on the gameplay. I was fortunate to not have run into any bugs or have any issues with performance. A smooth 60 fps for me the entire 48 hours
17:33 Metroid justifies this by making Samus lose her abilities either at the beginning or end of every game
I really wish devolpers would actually polish their games before release. This should not be a common occurence. We shouldnt have to expect games to come out broken.
I really hope that Ubi's SW project could be another Jedi game and use For Honor's combat system. Just my fantasy.
I agree with the comments I've read so far. You're asking if we are being "too needy," asking for a finished game when people are paying almost $80 after taxes. I'll wait until it's running the way it should have been on day one. I wish companies would just postpone rather than releasing an unfinished game.
Imagine if movies were handled this way. 😅
Austin texas was the best place ive ever been.. absolutely want to move there.
It gets so much worse when you get to the first open area on the first real planet. I can see why, which makes me worried if they can even fix it without sacrificing the insane fidelity and detail they've managed to conjure.
I have a 3080 and it’s running perfectly for me. No bugs, no FPS drops, and no stuttering. It’s honestly a great game so far.
its beyond me, how Nathan Drake in uncharted 4 has more fluid animation and running animation then a game from 2023..........
The performance drops in cutscenes because the game turns off performance mode automatically when a cutscene begins. You have to manually turn it off every cutscene to get a 60fpd cutscene. It is so strange they did that.
i’ve been absolutely grinding the game and haven’t came across many issues, im definitely not playing on 60fps tho cuz my monitor is trash asf
There's option to turn off film grain maybe that will help a bit.
Listening to the droid on the edge is the best thing
The frame tearing is starting to drive me crazy. My tvs have vrr too and it’s still pretty bad. I’m on PS5 btw. Still loving the game, just wished it came out running well
I have too much going on ATM to pick it up right away regardless but I'm glad I have the patience to wait it out and have these issues fixed

In combat and running around on ps5 Cal is covered in pixels and its very distracting. Does any one else notice or have this issue?
The “TIME STOP” legitimately got me every time 😂
My only complaints are the 30fps cutscenes and the stutters not as bad as Callisto tho
So far after 41 hours I switched to quality and performance quite often but the tearing and blurry line around the character models is just too annoying for me. I’d rather have a worse framerate for it. Hopefully they’ll update this asap
playing through the intro i always wondered where did cal get the second piece of his saber. it seems like it appeared out of nowhere whilst he was clambering in the platform crash.
It's the split sabre from the last game, if that's what you're talking about
Got it on PS5 and two hours in ive given up, the frame rate and pop in makes it unplayable for me
I've experienced so much frame rate drops/screen tears/grainy visuals in the first hour on performance mode. Ima just wait till they fix it to play. I don't want my first experience of the game to be like this.

It randomly crashes every ~3 hours.
Outside areas run at 40-50FPS on Performance Mode. Indoors are usually 60FPS unless there's a lot of lamps or enemies around.
The Performance Mode says it runs the game at 1440p, but it's usually like 1080p or lower. Fighting in outside areas can become really blocky, like its 720p or something.
So wait a bit more before buying this at full price because its really badly optimized on PS5.
Man of this game was polished omg. It's so good! I really hope they get this thing fixed quickly. On PS5 it plays well, for the most part but there are frame drops and annoying screen tearing that are annoying. So far that hasn't been significant enough to be immersion breaking to me because the game is just that good.
idk if it’s just me, but the game runs far better on my series x than i’m seeing it here. it’s probably consistently around 40-50 frames on quality mode, there’s a couple stutters here and there but all my cutscenes have been buttery smooth
Just in case no one mentioned this: This WAS performing terribly for me on PS5 until I read a reddit post about HDR settings causing issues. If you leave all settings unchanged (default) except the black level (which you just adjust up by 1) it dramatically improves performance for certain tvs.
I played for like 8 hours before discovering this. It was awful.
I’m on PC. I haven’t had the game breaking bugs some have, but inconsistent framerates among zones/planets. For example, Coruscant ran at a low, but stable, 40fps at 1080p, high settings. Whereas the next zone ran at a solid 85-90fps, same settings. I have no idea why. And no changes to settings aside from raytracing had any effect, positive or negative, on performance. It appears to depend on what areas you’re in.
