I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level. - Спорт
I don’t see anything wrong with you endorsing a product from one of your sponsors. Some people complain about anything. I don’t question your integrity one bit. 👍🏼🎣
much appreciatted. I just wanted to show those that were complaining that it catches fish!
I appreciate your advice and accept it as non-biased. Great job! Thanks for the live demonstration.
You bet!
Matt you are helping us by introducing your followers like me to new baits. Don’t let the negative crowd get you down. You didn’t say anything negative about other chatterbaits in either video. So I appreciate your help and professionalism. If you stir up the negative crowd don’t worry about it. They are showing their immaturity, period.
thanks for the support!
Great video! I'm sold on it, for sure. I enjoy your videos a lot, and I think you do a great job of explaining your stuff, from different lure retrieves to modifications and so on. But this on the water one was really fun to watch, and I hope you do more. You're an asset to your sponsors, in my opinion.
Glad you like them!
I think you have been a fair proponent of numerous brands/presentations and styles. I continually try out berkley based on your channel and Debos fishing. Regardless, cant argue with quality. Love those stock hooks that come with Berkley. The company makes great products. Love that Choppo as well! Ignore the slights on your integrity. Keep making videos good sir!
I appreciate that!
Thanks for posting another 'on the water' video. Matt, you've always impressed me with you honesty and sincerety, not to mention your expertise, knowlege and willingness to share all if it. God bless.
I appreciate that!
I can’t wait to get some! I get hammered on the Walmart z-man chatter bait. I can’t imagine what the slobber knocker will do!!
got to give it a try!
I think the slobberknocker is very solid. I like the hook and the keeper combined with the powerbait skirt and the blade through head design. I think the 4.25 inch power stinger is the better option because it matches the hook better. At least for the half ounce one. The smaller power stinger is really good on spinnerbaits and swimjigs.
thanks for sharing!
Great job on those smallies Matt, I never doughted you for one second… you have never led me down a wrong path yet and I thank you!
thanks for your long time support!
People need to understand that your sponsors are what pays the bills and of course you are gonna help your sponsors sell products and a quality company like Berkley is a company that makes great quality lures besides I like to know about the new lures Berkley has especially up close and In use.
thanks for the support!
You do a great representing yourself, your sponsors, and keeping us informed about new products that will work. Will definitely be purchasing the slobberknocker when it comes out. You have been killing it with the retrieve videos for different baits. I would love to see a video on the way you fish tubes!
good one! ill put that on the retrieve video list! thanks for the suggestion!
I definitely enjoy the on the water videos. Talk is easy but showing the results is great, it’s how you get me to buy some but they are sold out in a lot of places.
you can preorder at tackle warehouse using the link in the video description. looks like they are sold out but you can put a quantity in and preorder them
I ordered a bruised, Firecraw and a coleslaw to go with all my others! That should round out my selection of colors!
sounds complete!
I actually commended you on the fact that you promoted the slobberknocker but also said that chatterbait was a fantastic bait. I absolutely agree with you. Of course I'm gonna help my sponsor duh they're helping me with discounts and affiliate programs and much more as my fishing improves and I get noticed more. Some folks don't understand the way sponsorship works. You don't just get free stuff. It's a scratch my back I'll scratch yours situations. You might have to go to a signing event or help promote an item. That's the agreement between you and your sponsor. They're hating cause they are the ones who sent an email asking for free shit. Now they're blacklisted for life. And just so y'all know that does happen frequently and companies communicate with each other. ✌️ Matt keep doing a great job.
thanks for the support. sponsorship is a 2 way street. it needs to work for both the angler and the company to be a positive relationship.
@@MattStefanFishing yessir definitely 2 way. Just keep doing what you've been doing. Apparently it works and works well.
Good job with this follow-up video. No hard sell here, just an honest evaluation and recommendation. No problem with anglers supporting and promoting their sponsor's products, especially since you also recommend and support non-sponsor products.
much appreciated!
I always enjoy your on the water videos. Good presentation. I can't wait to get my hands on these new baits.
Thanks 👍
Small mouth are beautiful fish,I've never caught one yet but I plan to! And I tried the Slobberknocker out and when I say that it starts up vibrating immediately I mean it, it also has a totally different sound than other bladed jigs, it has a quick one knocker sound that's awesome you can actually hear it as it comes toward you. I love it and I love the hook and keeper on them also the fact it has a 4/0 hook that has a deeper belly is amazing at keeping them pinned! Also it comes through wood way better than other bladed jigs I promise you!
Couldnt agree more!
My job is selling insurance. I work for one of the largest companies. Not everybody likes that company. So be it. Not gonna stop my from working there. Your job is promoting your sponsors. Not everybody has to like it. That’s on them. You sir are one of the few on here I trust and enjoy watching. Keep promoting your sponsors. Don’t worry about the skeptics. We will always have them.
well said. Thanks for your support!
Hey Matt, I pretty much had zero plans of trying that one since I already have a few I like. But the way you showed how the blade attaches to the head and is better in wood!!!! Now I have to try it!!! Thanks!
youll like it!
I saw some I cast reviews it looks great!! I am a true believer in power bait it works!! Thank you for the tips I’ll be watching!!
you bet!
Matt, man that looks fun! I thought you did a really good job reviewing the slobberknocker in your last video, and the weedless aspect in this one. I'm sold! You don't shill all kinds of crap, so if you like it, I'm sure I will too.
Thanks for the positive feedback! this is a good bait!
Appreciate your videos and on the water fishing , that is a tank
Thanks 👍
Lol, "the ol slobberknocker catching slobs"... I might get a couple just cause the name is fun to say
haha! it is!
Excellent video. Representing your sponsors is what your supposed to do, especially if it is a bait you believe in... those fish are beautiful.
they are!
These Slobberknockers are a billion times better around wood than any other bladed jig, and they are fish catching machines
agreed!
Best thing about this video is that I know a bladed jig can be used in a river. Just getting into the mainstream bass lures and knowing that they can be used in places other than ponds or lakes is great. Thanks 👍
they are a great river bait!
I love a good bladed jig! Can't wait to try these as a jackhammer alternative
they are good ones!
The on-water fishing videos are the best.
Glad you like them!
You didn't have to do this to prove anything to me . You give great advice all the time and of course you're going to support any sponsor as long as the product works. What I find hard to believe is that you answer every single comment or question that is asked.. No one else does that . that being said keep up the good work and we love the videos
thanks for the support!
But the new Berkley scent stick sounds amazing!!! LOL
im not sure what you are talking about.
Nice to see you out catchin some Smallies!!! They are fun to catch! I have no issues at all if you are presenting something for a sponsor, you are really great at presenting it and I wish I was up there in the cooler weather!! :)
it was a balmy 82 degrees today! haha!
Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
I would like to see a tournament where y’all pros can only use the Walmart (ozark trail) brand tackle/ lures for everything. I feel it could be interesting….. at the least entertaining.
Id be up for that challenge!
Berkley killed it this year at icast, would have love to seen the slobber knocker paired up with their power stinger, great video, cant wait to buy
i wish i had some power stingers
I can’t believe y’all have water flow that swift. I’m in Texas and around here everything dries up every summer. We’re lucky to find water holes in our creeks and rivers. I’d love to have a running river close by to fish in during summer. Our creeks run in springtime.
always running fast here!
I just bought the green pumpkin and the BL special and can't wait to try them
awesome!
Bring on more baits too , love watching you teach
thank you!
Welcome bro
As level headed folks know.... keyboard cowboys will find reasons to hate on anything including the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.... SMH at haters. Over a year ago I watched a few of your vids and thought.... dang, this guy is telling the truth. Been a sub every since and look forward to your vids... been a fun ride. In the immortal words of JR.... 'Well Matt, that was a sloberknocker of a fishing trip' Thanks for the vids.
Agreed, Matt, don't forget there is a hater bias inherently in comment sections. 80% of the time, I just nod my head and agree with your opinions. Nothing to add, just, go, yep, and move on with my day. So I then have absolutely nothing to comment. I just don't comment myself unless I have something to add. I just thumb up and next. So, yeah, remember that when they're calling you a shill. Keep it up buddy, you're doing great
thanks! i just felt like i needed to go out and show it works. its hard to get out and fish all of them time while im watching my two little boys during the day and I realize if im not catching fish its just words in a video. this is just a bait i really like and not just a sponsor plug. 95% of the comments i get on this channel are great and i truly view it as a family type relationship. we are all trying to grow as anglers and help each other out. You've been a huge supporter of the channel and one that has shared lots of valuable information from your experiences with the rest of us. thank you!
i love a thumbs up! @ mike bower!
@@MattStefanFishing just noticed the end of this comment now, you're welcome Matt, thanks for the great work, we're pulling for you
You know we will ALL get them, Thanks Matt
its a good bait!
As we'd say in Boston, the Slobba Knocka looks wicked good! Keep up the great videos Matt!
HAHA!
Awesome video again, I’ll need to grab one when they get back in stock on tackle warehouse.
its all a preorder list. it looks like they are out of stock but you can put an order in and then be one of the first to receive when they are shipped out
@@MattStefanFishing alright, thanks!
Dang Matt! You sold me brother… I’ve got a box of Jack Hammers will definitely be buying a few of the slobber knocker. Just need a few in Junebug if they have that color. If not I’ll tie my own skirt.
just wanted to show everybody that they catch fish
I have been slobberknockerd a few times in my life. 🤪 pretty smallmouths.
oh boy!
Matt try to talk them into making a mini version, can you imagine how good it would also be around laydowns and cover period, but make sure the keep the 3/8 and 1/2oz weight just with a smaller hook and blade because the bass have never seen or heard anything like a mini Slobberknocker!
That would be killer
Very good video thanks and good fishing
you too!
Those smallmouths put up a hell of a fight too
they are so much fun!
Wondering if you make any kind of adjustments to the bend of the blade on any vibrating jigs you fish, too get more or less vibration out of the bait?
i dont normally but i know you can bend them down or up to change the vibration some.
A vibrating jig that starts an stops on clue sure does help get bites an keep from snagging ,for me as versatile as a drop shot I think it’s versatility is what helps me start the day .
agreed!
Loving this content.
thanks!
Nice colors too.
ep and the skirt is infused with powerbait
I really like this design, and it is truly different than the others on the market which will result in bites on the water because I feel bass especially in smaller lakes or farm pond get a custom to the typical chatterbait sound and shy away from them and the slobberknocker is different enough to make them bite!
agreed
Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻
you bet!
Just bought one of these and can’t wait to try it out. Been using the zman mini max recently and love it. Any ideas if Berkeley will ever do something similar with the slobberknocker?
I would imagine they wll make various sizes but i havent heard anything through the grapevine yet about them.
That was awesome so what do we do with all the other vibrating jigs that we own
they still work as well. im not saying you need to replace them, just that there are advantages in certain situations to the slobber knocker!
I’m a believer going to get some
sounds good!
I just subscribed..love how you reply to every comment.
thanks for the channel support! Its getting a lot harder to respond to everyone but ill do it as much as i can!
Great video!
thanks!
You just caught more weight in this video than I did in my last tournament
haha! it was a good day of fishing!
I really enjoyed the video
thank you!
What guides do you run on your casting setup's? I'd be interested in seeing some of your rod building tips and tricks 👍
I use the Mud hole LZR guides
I actually just got a 3/8 oz stealth blade green pumpkin shad 😂 also caught my PB Smallmouth last weekend 4.11Lbs 19” 🤘🏻🎣
Nice ones!
The Berkeley Stick! No action required! Comes straight back to the boat whether you want it to or not! Lol!
Seriously, though, I have a few of those pre-ordered in a couple of colors and the one question I had that I was hoping you'd show was how well it skips. Around here, a lot of times you ain't getting to those big girls unless you can skip your bait back 8-10 feet under flooded brush.
it skips just fine!
Good video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Hey new subscriber here!!! Literally first video I’m watching and I already love the channel I also love that you are the first person I’ve ever seen throw a white/Pearl bait with a completely opposite colored trailer definitely intrigued my interest would love to know why that is? I’m also very I lnterested in the slobberknocker I don’t have any just yet but can’t wait to get some! Thanks
i think contrasting colors can be very effective and do it often! Thanks for subscribing!
@@MattStefanFishing hey your the pro thanks for the tips! 🙏🏽
Your making me jealous, couldn't get out last weekend with all the thunderstorms we had. And now your making me to run out for some brownies! Yeah, when ever I get the knockers! I might give away my other blades because of the hook fowl'n this and that! We'll see! Oh! I've caught clams myself & thought I had hook a monster. So your not alone. Ha Ha
haha! i love a good clam!
Do you trim the skirt on that like a swim jig and have you removed the skirt on that one yet and tried it ?
yes and yes! works great without the skirt as well
🍺Use what ever chatterbait you have confidence in, be it the Jackhammer which is the bait I have chosen to fish. The new Slobberknocker or your custom home made jig with Queen Tackle Switch Blades.😎
Agreed! Use the baits you have confidence in!
mike swofford great video
thanks!
Nice video
Thanks
As I said it looks really great. Unfortunately I can't get any anywhere. So you could just send me one of yours. When I can get them I'll replace your. Great video thanks for sharing 🎣 👍
you can preorder them here and be one of the first to get them when they ship out www.tacklewarehouse.com/Berkley_Powerbait_Slobberknocker_Bladed_Jigs/descpage-BFSN.html?from=MSFG
I like to rock n roll.
me too!
Why people have to hate man , on y’all’s shows , yes u have baits you fish but so what , these types of guys are jealous Matt , and you know what else they wish they had the same privileges, great video bro as always
thanks much for your support!
Some people just have to argue… and you can’t argue with stupidity. You could have the newest, best lure that catches a fish on every cast and somebody somewhere would have something negative to say about it.
It’s looks like a great lure. I really like those rods you use.!! Would eventually like to start putting my own rods together.
give rod building a try! its very fun!
3.5 or 4.25?? Which works better on slobberknocker?
i use both. just depends on the situation but i tend to favor the 4.25
I saw your other vid and wanted to buy a few...I couldn't find any...even Berkly didn't have any for sale
if you use the link in my video you can preorder thru tackle warehouse!
@@MattStefanFishing Thanks but been there done that already😃
Sincerely I trust your opinion
thank you! You wont get me peddling garbage thats for sure.
well i recon you showed those nay sayers , way to go
haha
Man I want one them nice small mouth I got my 1st and2nd swim jig bass .It's 90 92 down here can't wait for cooler temp .I believ2e
Right on
I don’t think my ocd will let me use a white skirt and black trailer lol 😂
haha! it was junebug if that helps
@@MattStefanFishing lol no
I don't river fish but, I bet they fight harder and same size lake fish. Great video . What river ?
that was the wisconsin river
Great stuff, was this 3/8 or 1/2oz, I'm guessing 3/8oz?
1/2 oz
@@MattStefanFishing Great thanks for confirming, I'm finally ordering some of these!
So, where can I get them, no one seems to have them.
you can preorder them in the link i provide in the video description through tackle warehouse. this will allow you to be one of the first to get them!
Have you ever thought of getting some left handed cranking baitcasters it makes alot of difference than having to switch hands I've never understood that now that they have them on the market
i mostly use left handed retrieve baitcasters. I have a bad left shoulder right now and am trying to get it to heal so use right handed baitcasters. Ive done lots of videos on reels like this one. ua-cam.com/video/O6DJ-2gdzoc/v-deo.html
@@MattStefanFishing no the crank is on the left side of the reel how is that helping your left shoulder having to set the hook and having the pressure of the fish help to heal your arm makes no since
The only problem I have with endorsing a product from a sponsor is, that it's NOT available yet to the public WTH. lol
well youy can order them here, but its just a preorder list and they wont come till the fall. but youll be one of the first to get them since TW gets the first shipment usually. www.tacklewarehouse.com/Berkley_Powerbait_Slobberknocker_Bladed_Jigs/descpage-BFSN.html?from=MSFG
i do like the name of it lol
its fun to say
Slobber knocker JR 👍🏻
Id be all about that!
So apparently, it's a small mouth bait... haha
all bass like them haha!
Good lure I paired mine with the berkeley stinger the perfect trailer
the stinger is a good one!
Does it have any hunting action?
yep
I was excited for these until I saw the price. They're a dollar cheaper then a jackhammer. Berkley usually is more budget friendly. I wonder if they're stuck paying Zman a patent tax after all. I will say though I'm excited to try one, but at the price point, it's gotta be better then the jackhammer for them to be a hit. If these were 8 or 9 bucks, they'd sell like hotcakes.
yeah i was hoping they would be cheaper...i have no clue if they are paying zman. its a different connection so id like to think not but im not privy to the behind the scenes stuff
I personally see nothing wrong with it, the bait works, it has difference's from other chatterbaits, and sometimes it's those little differences that make a BIG impact 🎣
agree 100%
What is your favorite abu Garcia casting reel?
this is my go to reel at the moment. The Abu Garcia Zenon X. www.tacklewarehouse.com/Abu_Garcia_Zenon_X_Casting_Reels/descpage-AGZX.html?from=MSFG
The Zenon MGX and LTX are awesome but even more pricey unfortunately.
You mean there might be a chance that I actually catch a fish on a bladed jig? LOL still hasn't happened but I don't fish them anymore anyway because I don't have success with them
keep trying them!
@@MattStefanFishing that I do. Probably not as often as I should but I haven't totally abandoned them
Is it truly a game changer is the question? The average person has maybee 3 colours and maybe 2 of each so switching could be expensive.
im not saying you should switch, just that there are certain scenarios where i think the slobberknocker is better. Both baits have a place thats for sure!
@@MattStefanFishing that's a great answer. You put in a big amount of effort in to youtube and we really appreciate it.
🧐what rod are you throwing it on? Thats not an orange threaded crankbait rod
haha! you guys catch everything. I was using the NMB-873 MHX blank for this video because im a more accurate caster with the graphite blank over a blended blank and i wanted a little extra backbone to get the fish away from the wood. My normal vibrating jig rod is the CB907 ?(orange threaded rod)
@@MattStefanFishing 😄 I kinda figured it was a rod with more backbone to get em out of the wood but I had to ask
Drop the mic on them nay sayers!!!
haha
The least expensive vibrating jig at TW is $5.57. Slobberknocker is $13.99. Is it really that much better? Tell Berkley to halve the price, and I'll buy it.
it really wasnt a comparison video but one just showing that i think its a good bait. its up to the angler to justify the price and yes i wish it was cheaper, but its still over 20% cheaper than a jackhammer.
Black River???
haha no comment
Maybe you shouldn’t have all those sponsors on your boat either….promote away. Going to buy some sweet baby rays BBQ sauce now!!!
haha! thanks!
Berkley is great, sponsor or not
agreed!
Do we really need to hear about all the knockers you've slobbered on over the years? There is a semi-easy mod to make it weedless. I also got an an easy killer mod for any of these chatter baits, especially this one.
haha! awesome!
