I just started building confidence in jigs this spring. Decided to make my own. First day fishing with a jig I made I caught my new pb. A 5 pounder. Thanks for always putting out this top quality content. Definitely the most educational fishing youtube channel.

I watched this as well as read the many comments from folks saying they did the same, went fishing and finally made a good catch/multiple catches, and sure enough I can now say the same. Snagged my first catch with my 1/2oz standard jig, a 4.3lb bass yesterday. Was stoked. Thanks for the great tips!

I've recently started fishing a 5 to 6 acre pond near me. I've caught a number of 1lb and less bass but nothing big. I knew there had to be at least a 5 pounder in there but there was no real discernible cover I could see. There was however a wooden depth pole in the middle of this small bay. It was 13' deep. I had just seen this video so I tied on the exact same jig and craw you had, threw it right to the pole and let it sink. That bass grabbed it and took off before I even realized it was on there.
It was more luck than skill on my part but I reeled in a 4.5 lb largemouth. Not bad for Colorado. The 5 pounder is still in there waiting for me though.
I definitely need a stronger rod and heavier line. A medium light spinning rod and 8lb fluorocarbon isn't going to cut it day to day. Thanks for another great bank fishing video.

Black/blue jig with a purple or some kind of junebug trailer is MONEY. 1/4 oz is also a pretty sick weight too if your body of water is super pressured as the slightly slower fall rate can get the bite when the 3/8 just doesn’t

I've been doing pretty well on a black and blue swim jig in Muddy waters here in Northeast Ohio.
probably my personal favorite jig, paddle tail swimbait or a craw trailer pairs really nice

Great video and thank you for speaking to us pond hoppers! I threw a swim jig from the banks a lot last year and had much success. It became a lure I just couldn’t put down. This year I am looking to add a jig I can work along the bottom to my arsenal. This video helps a lot!

I’m curious why you don’t recommend braid for jigs? I figured it’s lack of stretch would help with hook sets.

Cause most of the time I’m fishing in clear enough water that a non-clear line will cause fish to not eat it. Believe it or not, Fish can really see line, especially braid

just ordered some jig gear to try this new approach. i highly doubt locals are using jigs so i'm hoping it's a new presentation for the fish in the pressured spots.
