Well yes and no. He had faith because when he whenever he went to the Burrow he would play quidditch with the Weasley family where Ron didn’t have the pressure of being watched by outsiders. So Harry knew he was good, just that he was unconfident under pressure.
Harry was a real homie with this one. Tricked his best friend in the best way. Gave Ron the confidence he needed without cheating. Was even happy for Ron about getting a girl until he saw Hermione's reaction.

Which is one of the reasons why Daniel Radcliffe loved this movie. He HATED Quidditch so much, because it was a pain to film it. But for this particular movie, other characters had to endure it.

I'm obsessed with Harry at 3:31, the acting is so good and subtle and realistic. Just staring at her nonchalantly, waiting for her to realize, and then the deep head nod like, yup, there ya go.
Half-Blood Prince is by far my favorite film. All the characters are changing, developing and a lot is going on. And I very much like the way Draco is portrayed in that film. I do however agree that, objectively speaking, Order of the Phoenix or Prisoner of Azkaban take the spot of best film of the franchise, and I love those two very much as well. Half-Blood Prince is just my favorite, is all. I also recognize that the film has many flaws, like the Lavender problem for example. In the book, Ron has reason to believe that Hermione doesn't like him, but probably fancies Harry. So Ron starts to lose hope that he'll ever be with her. And then Ron thinks she kissed Victor Krum, which puts the nail in the coffin. Ron's worst fear coming true. Ron's thinking in the book; "She's kissed Victor, famous Quidditch player, and now likes Harry Potter, the chosen one. How could I, Ron Weasley, live up to that?" In the movie however, Hermione drops many hints that she likes Ron, and they never really fight before the Quidditch match, which is why Ron should technically have no reason *to* kiss Lavender. But nonetheless, still my favorite film.

Their friendship is best shown in this movie since they never once fight or get into an argument with each other. They act like really close friends throughout and we see scenes where they just hang out together.
One detail I just noticed in this scene, Luna says that Harry did put something in his drink to make Ron and Hermione believe liquid luck was in it, but he never did. Did Harry fool Luna too, or is Luna the most amazing wing woman to support Harry's plan? Either way love Luna :)
He outsmarts her several times in this film, which I enjoyed seeing even though I really like Hermione. He outsmarts her at the beginning when using the Half-Blood Prince's textbook to win the luck potion, then when he reveals to her he did not add the luck potion to Ron's cup, and then when he uses the luck potion and ignores her "plan." There are others more subtle but I can't remember right now.

It's nice how the Weasleys were the backbone of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team at Hogwarts. Charlie, then Fred and George, Ron, Ginny and then Rose later on. And they managed it with relatively modest brooms, against the Slytherin Team which had all the top gear. Funny how Malfoy and his cronies always mocked the Weasleys, but could never match them in a competitive environment.

A lot of the ravenclaws and hufflepuffs is like actually root for Gryffindor when they played against slytherin it was very common not just a weird Luna thing. Just because slytherin was known for being very pompous and winning too much especially through dirty tactics they were pretty disliked. Though I suppose the hat made it a bit overboard.
@@caleblim6890 I think its more than that. I dont think Luna has many friends in Ravenclaw. Ginny and Neville are certainly her best friends and they're in gryffindor. It makes sense for her to be rooting for them, even if theyre playing hufflepuff.

In the front, though not seen in this scene in particular, is number 4, as a chaser replacing Katie Bell, Dean Thomas (you can identify him in the previous shot as well as in the Great Hall during breakfast. His number is not seen, but since 4, 5, and 6 are chaser numbers, 4, as the only remaining, is almost surely his number). Behind him number 3 - Ritchie Coote and number 2 - Jimmy Peakes, both beaters. And then remaining chasers, number 6, Demelza Robins, and of course, number 5, Ginny Weasley. Hermione is heartbreaking at the end there; how her face changes. And Harry goes from being happy for Ron to empathetic towards Hermione. Love the scene that follows too. The friendships of Harry Potter are solide. This is my favourite quidditch filmatisation. It is so exhilarating, and the music is wonderful.
I was 4 or 5 when Harry Potter 1 was released. It's was a fun film to us kids that day and years go by and more Harry Potter films were made it was not a fun film anymore it became sad and depressing.
A few things from this scene: 1. I wish they had the Weasley song in the movie. Would have been awesome. 2. Luna in that lion hat. 3. Oliver Wood is gonna be thrilled.

I wish they showed that in the movies, it would've been cool to give the Weasleys a match of their own, one where Ron and Hermione are able to celebrate together(they had gotten over their argument by this point and get together soon after) and the whole start of the Ginny and Harry thing when he comes to the common room after the match.

@@movinitlikedat45 i hope i don't come across as snobbish but book harry didn't let people walk over him like that. he even shouted himself hoarse during the tryouts because 3/4 of the people who applied are less than qualified to play quidditch (heck, even there were hufflepuffs who queued) the movies really downplayed harry's aggressiveness and arrogancy, instead portraying him as some goody-two shoes (when he is very much not).

I love how the Slytherins have a very aggressive arrow formation 2:00 whereas the Gryffindor's have a more subtle flanking line formation 2:28. Highlighting the nature of each house

Emma Watson shines in this film. She is adorable. I think she overacts a bit in 3 and 4. But in this, she is perfect! Just the right blend of stubborn and sensitive.

14 years this movie has been out, I've rewatched it countless times and this is the first time that I noticed that the eyes on Luna's Lion headdress moves and blinks.
I just love this scene. Harry's face, the way he is smiling and then when he says "I don't know what you are talking about " and Luna, well everything about her. The costume, the way she speaks. Damn I love these series.
hermione is mostly starstruck for this one, she's mostly thinking about Ron, how much she detests Lavender for going out with ron, and how to make ron jealous by dating Cormac, so ron would break up with lavender so she could have him all to herself but then she got what she wanted when ron muttered her name and not Lavender's in this film I think Hermione finally realized her feelings for Ron, and ron eventually came to his senses and realized how much hermione means to him

Radcliffe got so much better as an actor as these movies progressed. 5-8 he really grew into the role.

He outsmarts her at the beginning when using the Half-Blood Prince's textbook to win the luck potion, then when he reveals to her he did not add the luck potion to Ron's cup, and then when he uses the luck potion and ignores her "plan." There are others more subtle but I can't remember right now.

It's nice how the Weasleys were the backbone of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team at Hogwarts. Charlie, then Fred and George, Ron, Ginny and then Rose later on. And they managed it with relatively modest brooms, against the Slytherin Team which had all the top gear. Funny how Malfoy and his cronies always mocked the Weasleys, but could never match them in a competitive environment.

A lot of the ravenclaws and hufflepuffs is like actually root for Gryffindor when they played against slytherin it was very common not just a weird Luna thing. Just because slytherin was known for being very pompous and winning too much especially through dirty tactics they were pretty disliked. Though I suppose the hat made it a bit overboard.
They’re just anti-Slytherin. My school’s rugby team always gets support from other schools when we play the rich kids.

Hermione is heartbreaking at the end there; how her face changes. And Harry goes from being happy for Ron to empathetic towards Hermione. Love the scene that follows too. The friendships of Harry Potter are solide.
This is my favourite quidditch filmatisation. It is so exhilarating, and the music is wonderful.

I was 4 or 5 when Harry Potter 1 was released. It's was a fun film to us kids that day and years go by and more Harry Potter films were made it was not a fun film anymore it became sad and depressing.
A few things from this scene:
1. I wish they had the Weasley song in the movie. Would have been awesome.
2. Luna in that lion hat.
3. Oliver Wood is gonna be thrilled.

the movies really downplayed harry's aggressiveness and arrogancy, instead portraying him as some goody-two shoes (when he is very much not).
